Recent developments in technology have significantly affected the animation industry in several ways. YouTube has increased global distribution and exposure for amateur animators. Cheaper equipment and free/low-cost software have lowered barriers to entry, resulting in more animators and animations being created. Computers allow for easier editing, smoother character movement, and new techniques like tweening and computer-generated imagery. Digital photography has also made the animation process easier and allowed for checking work in progress. These developments have benefited the author of this document by enabling global distribution, improving animation quality, and streamlining the production process.
