Coherent, a laser technology company, implemented Cisco's Cloud Web Security and Security Enterprise License Agreement to more cost-effectively protect its network from growing cyber threats. The solution provides tighter security through real-time threat detection and reduced costs by 10% by bundling Cisco security products. It also supplies more granular reporting for improved decision making and a 35% reduction in IT staff time needed for configuration and support.
As service providers increasingly provide cloud-based services to enterprises and small businesses in virtual and multi-tenant environments, their security strategies must continually evolve to detect and mitigate emerging threats. In the VMDC reference architecture, physical and virtual infrastructure components such as networks (routers and switches), network-based services (firewalls and load balancers) - and computing and storage resources are shared among multiple tenants, creating shared multi-tenant environments.
Security is especially important in these environments because sharing physical and virtual resources increases the risk of tenants negatively impacting other tenants. Cloud deployment models must include critical regulatory compliance such as Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
The VMDC Cloud Security 1.0 solution enables customers to:
• Detect, analyze, and stop advanced malware and advanced persistent threats across the attack continuum.
• Consistently enforce policies across networks and accelerate threat detection and response.
• Access global intelligence using the right context to make informed decisions and take fast,
appropriate action.
• Comply with security requirements for regulatory requisites such as FISMA, HIPAA, and PCI.
• Support secure access controls to prevent business losses.
• Secure data center services using application and content security.

In construction, access to back-office financial and operations systems from a remote site is
often needed to make decisions and stay productive. For many industries like construction, cloud
technology is being considered and adopted as the new answer for remote work. Some businesses
are outsourcing to the cloud just to save on the cost from having in-house technical experts. But
when considering how to improve remote operations, a well-matched cloud application, especially
in construction, can do better than just give an answer to internal resource constraints. Cloud
applications can increase agility and competitiveness, enhance team collaboration, strengthen
decision making using current data, and improve productivity—particularly when the back-office
systems are integrated into the cloud.

Up-front design of your AWS account can be done in a way that creates a reliably secure and controlled environment no matter how the AWS resources are used. This session will focus on "Secure by Design" principles and show how an AWS environment can be configured to provide a reliable operational security control capability to meet the compliance needs across multiple industry verticals (e.g. HIPAA, FISMA, PCI, etc.). This will include operational reporting through the use of AWS services (e.g. Config/Config Rules, CloudTrail, Inspector, etc.) as well as partner integration capabilities with partner solutions such as Splunk and Allgress for real-time governance, risk, and compliance reporting. Key takeaways from this session include: learning AWS Security best practices and automation capabilities for securing your environment, Automation accelerators for configuration, compliance, and audit reporting using CloudFormation, Config/Config Rules, CloudTrail, Inspector, etc., and ISV integration for real-time notification and reporting for security, compliance, and auditing in the cloud.
Cisco Fog Computing Solutions: Unleash the Power of the Internet of ThingsHarshitParkar6677
The Internet of Things (IoT) speeds up awareness and
response to events. It’s transforming whole industries, including
manufacturing, oil and gas, utilities, transportation, public safety,
and local government.
But the IoT requires a new kind of infrastructure. The cloud by
itself can’t connect and analyze data from thousands and millions
of different kinds of things spread out over large areas. Capturing
the power of the IoT requires a solution that can:
● Connect new kinds of things to your network. Some of them
might be in harsh environments. Others might communicate
using industrial protocols, not IP.
● Secure the things that produce data. And secure the data as it
travels from the network edge to the cloud. This requires a
combination of physical security and cybersecurity.
● Handle an unprecedented volume, variety, and velocity of data.
Billions of previously unconnected devices are generating more
than two exabytes of data each day. Sending all of it to the cloud
for analysis and storage is not practical. Plus, in the time it takes
to send data to the cloud for analysis, the opportunity to act on it
might be gone.
When responding to a security incident, communication is perhaps one of the most important, and yet, most overlooked aspects. This Cisco Security Incident Response Services Template has been used and refined for a number of years now in both Fortune 100 companies as well as with all of our Cisco Security Incident Response Services customers.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
