 Refers to the means of interactions among people in
which they create, share, and exchange information
and ideas in virtual communities and networks.

Who uses it?
Almost any company you can think uses some form of
social media. Like the new direction Dominoes pizza
is taking? Visit there Facebook page and express
yourself. Have questions about the new ingredient in
Jiffy peanut butter? Ask them about it on twitter and
get a response. The opportunities are endless.
Is it for me?
 The IT industry has a reputation for being impersonal.
With the help of social media, you can interact with
your customers without them ever leaving the comfort
of their home.
 You can answer questions people might be afraid to
ask in person.
 You can post advice, or even tutorials to earn their
trust.
 Most important, you can post testimonials to
encourage repeat customers.

  1. What exactly is social media? In order to understand why we need it, we must understand what it is.
  2. By this definition, social media can be any form of virtual community.
  3. These are three of the top social media sites available. There are many more, but for maximum exposure, I recommend at least one of these three.
  4. I would go into a little more detail with the examples while reading the slide.
