The excretory system removes waste from the body through the lungs, skin, kidneys, and urinary bladder. The lungs remove carbon dioxide, the skin removes sweat and dead skin cells, the kidneys filter waste from the blood and produce urine, and the urinary bladder stores urine before releasing it through the urethra. This system works with the digestive and respiratory systems to intake nutrients and oxygen and remove waste to keep the body functioning properly. Diseases can occur if the excretory system is not working correctly, such as kidney infections, bladder infections, and kidney stones.
