Lady Macbeth Ambition Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of Lady Macbeth's ambition is a task that demands careful
consideration and analytical prowess. The complexity lies in dissecting the character of Lady
Macbeth, a multifaceted and intriguing figure in Shakespeare's play "Macbeth." Her ambition
serves as a central driving force in the narrative, but unraveling the layers of her character
requires a nuanced understanding of Shakespearean literature and a keen insight into human
psychology.
Exploring Lady Macbeth's ambition necessitates delving into the text to extract subtle nuances,
deciphering her motives, and examining the consequences of her relentless pursuit of power. The
challenge lies in not only presenting a comprehensive analysis of her character but also in
connecting her ambitions to broader themes within the play, such as the corrupting nature of
power, the role of gender, and the consequences of unchecked ambition.
Moreover, constructing a coherent and compelling argument requires a well-organized essay
structure. Balancing textual evidence, critical analysis, and personal interpretation poses a
significant challenge. The essay should seamlessly integrate quotes from the play, scholarly
perspectives, and the writer's own insights to create a cohesive narrative that sheds light on the
complexities of Lady Macbeth's ambition.
Navigating through the plethora of existing literature on the topic is another hurdle. Countless
interpretations and scholarly articles offer diverse perspectives, making it essential for the
essayist to sift through this wealth of information to present a unique and insightful analysis.
Drawing connections between various critical viewpoints and synthesizing them into a cohesive
argument is a daunting task that requires both time and expertise.
In conclusion, composing an essay on Lady Macbeth's ambition demands intellectual rigor,
literary acumen, and analytical finesse. The intricate layers of the character and the broader
thematic elements in "Macbeth" require a meticulous approach to ensure the essay is both
insightful and cohesive. Despite the challenges, the endeavor promises a deep understanding of
Shakespearean literature and the timeless exploration of human ambition.

Comparing Dracula And Vlad Tepes In Bram Stoker s
Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula is a commonly referenced novel in modern society, a classic
gothic story. From the count on sesame street to the likeable Cullen family of the
series Twilight, Dracula has become the model for all modern vampire novels. Few
people are aware though that Bram Stoker based Dracula off of a real person. Real
life Draculawas not a vampire, however there are many connections both subtle and
obvious between the horrifying character that Bram Stokercreated and Vlad Tepes,
prince of Wallachia, violent ruler of Transylvania. Specifically, there lies parallels
between Dracula in Bram Stoker s novel and Vlad Tepes in the origin and
connotations of the name Dracul , their affinity for playing games with their victims,
and their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is in this way that the last parallel between the two are drawn. Vlad the impaler
was actually the prince of Wallachia, and was therefore royalty. His treatment by
the people around him would be reflective of his noble title. Alongside of the fact
that people respected him because of his title as prince, brutality brought in the
remaining respect for Vlad. Nobody would dare go against the will of Vlad. He
would punish his own people just as severely as his worst enemies. People were
ultimately terrified of him. Dracula obtained his respect in a similar way, but with
a much less severe approach. Dracula was not of actual royalty like Vlad was,
however he was the head of the castle and thus named Count. He is seen as the head
of the house or in this case castle. His patriarchal hold of the household brought
about it a certain dominance over everybody within the household, including the 3
women who tried to suck Harker s blood. Dracula interrupted the scenario, stormed
in with rage and ordered them back. The women seemed to be slightly afraid of him
which hinted at the dominance he had over them. They obeyed his every command
and made no further moves towards Harker
Country Road Essay example
Country Road has been an iconic Australian brand for 36 years, building its success
on its high quality and unique designs that look effortlessly casual yet stylish.
Following the high financial performances of their Australian stores, Country Road
decided to embark into the United States of America (US) in 1989, in hope of
realising the financial gains they saw here. Unfortunately, their strategies didn t work,
and they found obstacles which hindered their success in the US. This essay
examines the types of strategies Country Road has pursued and what led Country
Road to follow an international expansion strategy. Further, we discuss the
impediments to Country Road succeeding in the US retail market, before suggesting

Country Road did this by lowering their selling prices but at the same time,
maintaining the quality of their clothing. To do this, they have sourced for suppliers
that are willing to cooperate with them in cost reductions (Australia s best retail,
2011). This is a win win situation for both Country Road and their suppliers where
Country Road gets to reduce their cost to maintain profit and their suppliers gained
good reputations. Another strategy they have used on cost reduction is by
introducing product distribution directly from their China based distribution centre in
year 2007, which eventually reduced their operating cost and lead time (Annual
report, 2007). In addition, Country Road also pursues a differentiation strategy. This
can be seen by the unique architecture and layout of their stores which makes them
stand out from their rivals that were located geographically close and also the
marketing of their Australian brand image (Kerr Sarina, 2006).
Country road has been well established as an Australian brand in Australia before it
engaged in globalization. Having a strong foothold in the Australia fashion, it is one
of the most representable and well favoured fashion brands in Australia. With its
growing success, this gave the firm the confidence to venture into the global market
and had the capabilities to do so after Myer Emporium
Research Paper On My Lai Massacre
My Lai On March 16, 1968, in the Quang Ngai region of Vietnam, specifically My
Lai, the United States military was involved in an appalling slaughter of
approximately 500 Vietnamese civilians. There are numerous arguments as to why
this incident even had the capacity to occur. Although some of the arguments seem
valid, can one really make excuses for the slaughter of innocent people? The company
that was responsible for the My Lai incident was the Charlie Company and
throughout the company there were many different accounts of what happened that
reprehensible day. Therefore there are a few contradictions about what had occurred,
such as what the commanding officers exact instructions for the soldiers were. Even

Ridenhour became informed about My Lai through stories that his fellow veterans
had told him. He stated, I wanted to get those people. I wanted to reveal what they
did. My God, when I first came home, I would tell my friends and cry literally cry.
(Linder) The letters he wrote, for the most part were cast aside, but some recipients
were curious. Representative Morris Udall decided the letter was not to be ignored
and what Ridenhour claimed had happened needed to be investigated. This is
where the trials and the questioning of what actually happened, who was to blame,
and what the reasons for this calamity were, began. The real query though was,
even if the above questions could be answered would there ever be a clear
explanation/excuse for this tragedy. As mentioned before the Vietnam War caused
the soldiers to harbor a lot of hostility directed at their situation as opposed to just
their enemy. These were all relatively young men fighting, 18 22, most without
anything more than a high school education. They were in a strange foreign country
fighting a war that most of them did not even understand. They were fighting in an
oppressively hot climate among peasants of an alien culture. (Goff, Moss Terry,
Upshur, 445) The main problem was that Vietnam was not a conventional war, it was
very difficult to tell who the enemy was. Members of the 48th Battalion reportedly
lived with the local villagers in order to conceal their presence, often

Case Study of Callaway Golf Company
Section I. Summary
Callaway Golf Company began to take form in 1983, after Ely Reeves Callaway Jr.
sold Callaway Vineyard and Winery for a $9 million dollar profit. Shortly after the
sell of the winery, Callaway ventured in to the golf equipment industry and bought 50
percent of Hickory Stick USA. Callaway knew from the very beginning that this
company s profits were limited as long as the product line wasn t changing.
Callaway noticed that most golf equipment had changed very little since the 1920s
and believed that , due to the difficulty of the game of golf, recreational golfers

Helmstetter and his engineering team were very important to the execution of
Callaway Golf s competitive strategy. Callaway Golf Company consistently
outspent its rivals in the industry on R D which allowed it to continually beat its
competitors to the market with new innovations. (P c210) In 1994, Callaway Golf
opened the Helmstetter Test Center located a mile away from the main campus.
The Helmstetter Test Center had two primary uses; it provided an ideal place to
custom fit clubs for the touring pros who used Callaway equipment, and it allowed
Callaway R D staff to test new products in the developmental stage. The development
of new products at Callaway Golf Company not only included the research and
development staff but also the sales and advertising staff. These teams worked hand
in hand together. When the R D would come up with a new product idea, the sales
and advertisement staff would look over this idea and recommend changes based on
the current market interests.
Callaway s customer service department was viewed as a critical component of the
company s overall level of differentiation. (p. c215) Even before handling any
customer service inquiry, each customer service representative received eight weeks
of training since the entire customer service staff was empowered to make a final
decision regarding a consumer or retailer complaint or warranty claim. In other golf
Understanding The Utility Of A Commodity
A commodity, according to Marx, is an external object that satisfies human wants as
a use value while functioning as an exchange value that enters into exchange with
other commodities (303 304). On one hand, the particular properties of an object,
made possible by the particular kind of human labour embodied in it, define the
utility of a commodity and hence its use value, which cannot be measured
quantitatively due to the incommensurability across the diverse categories of utility.
On the other hand, the exchange value, determined by the socially necessary labour
time required for producing the commodity (306), establishes quantitative
equivalences among the otherwise incommensurable use values, acting as the only
media through which the value of a commodity, independent of its use value,
manifests itself in exchange (305). It follows that to qualify as a commodity in
Marx s definition, an object has to contain human labour in it, must possess some
utility, and finally needs to be able to serve as a use value to others in order for its
value to assert itself in exchange (307 308). Marx contends that while it is trivial to
understand a commodity as the end product of the purposeful alterations of natural
material to satisfy a particular want, a commodity becomes mystical once it enters
into exchange to realize its value in the form of the objectification of human labour
(319 320). The peculiarity of such objectification can be understood in two ways.

Remember The Titans By Director Boaz Yakin
Director Boaz Yakin created film Remember the Titans . This film was set placed
in Alexandria, Virginia in 1971. At this time T.C. Williams high school was the
first school having black race and white race together and neither race were happy
about it. This film talks about how they overcome the racism and how each
individual person on the team become one as team. And analysis of remember the
titans shows people can overcome challenges by hard work, determination and
perseverance. In the begging of the film, Herman Boone which is Denzel
Washington was brought in as an assistant coach to join the all white coaching
team. Couple days later, because of high school rule Coach Boone had to be a
head coach. But at first he was unwilling to take the offer the head coaching job at
first because same things had happened to him when a white coach was selected as
head coach over him in South Carolina. In this scene you can tell Coach Boone
respects everybody and not hating people. But soon He finally accepts the head
coach when he sees that the black people lived in the town saw him as a symbol of
pride and hope because he could be the one could overcome the racism in the town.
When he talks with coach Yoast, coach Yoast was worried because his white kids
won t start the football team but Boone told him I aint going to cut them and eat
them. Best player will play color won t matter . In this sentence he doesn t care
black or white or not, he wants to best player to win the games
On the Origin of Species
In his On the Origin of Species, written in 1859, Charles Darwin clearly explained the
gradual progression toward the speciation of organisms with his five main principles:
variation, inheritance, competition, selection, and propagation. Darwin hesitated to
publish his findings because he understood that his findings were based on the animal
kingdom and on an evolutionary process that had to have spanned millennia. He
specifically did not think that his discoveries were applicable to the evolutionof
human society. Contrary to Darwin s preference, Herbert Spencer did exactly what
Darwin hoped to avoid by publishing numerous works supporting his own, new thesis
of Social Darwinism, which claimed that Darwin s principles of evolution... Show

He lived off of his family s wealth and instead of working, he devoted himself
wholly to his studies. In 1896, he published his most comprehensive work, The
Synthetic Philosophy, a work encompassing many of his theories on society,
evolution, morality, and psychology. Spencer died December 8, 1903 while working
on his autobiography, which was then published in 1904. Through his anti clerical
and rejectionist upbringing, Spencer was raised to attach to a theory like Darwinian
evolution. In his first published article on the development of Social Darwinism,
entitled The Development Hypothesis, 1852, Spencer established his lack of faith
and claimed that creationism was a theory which is supported by no facts at all.
He further elaborated on the issue and asserted that there must be another mode by
which the world was created. He even went as far as to write that, if he were to
interrogate any leading geologist or physiologists they would be forced to confess
that the notion was put into his mind in childhood as part of a story which he now
thinks is absurd. Spencer believed that creationism was not a viable medium on
which to base scientific thought, and as a result, he was forced to find another way
to explain the creation of the world. For this reason, he was drawn to evolutionary
Darwinism. Spencer however, could not just accept Darwinian evolution as fact.
Rather, he expanded the theory of Darwinian evolution to meet his own
Thoreau On Civil Disobedience
Konstantin Keller Anne Portman Philosophy 2010 4 December 2015 Thoreau on
Civil Disobedience In Civil Disobedience, Henry Thoreau asserts that one should
prioritize one s conscience over the dictates of law. Thoreau begins his essay by
arguing that government is rarely useful and that its power comes merely from the
fact that the government is the strongest group, rather than because they hold the
most correct viewpoint. He believes that people are obligated to do what they think
is right and to refuse to follow the law as dictated by the majority. If a government is
being unjust, people should distance themselves from that government and refuse to
follow its laws. However, he doesn t believe that people are obligated to commit their
lives to eliminating such evils from the world, but rather they should not participate
in said evils. Because voting and governmental reform is often ineffective, one should
deal with an unjust government by ideologically dissociating one s self from the
government and refusing to participate in its institutions. Thoreau begins by stating
that he agrees with the saying, that government is best which governs least. He says
that, one day, people will be able to have a government which does not govern at all.
In its current state, Thoreau argues that government rarely proves itself useful, and
that it is often abused to the point that it no longer represents the wishes of the
people. According to Thoreau, the American government is a necessity

King Arthur and Morgan Le Fay. Since he was born from such an embarrassing
relationship, King Arthur wanted nothing to do with Mordred and made no attempt

hate in his heart for King Arthurand wanted nothing but revenge against him and
his family. He began dealings with people of shady natures in order to get to Arthur
and became increasingly evil and caught up in his desires. Arthur eventually became
aware of Mordred s desire to kill him and tried to use his knights such as Sir Lancelot
and his wizard Merlin to try to kill Mordred. The men were unsuccessful in
stopping Mordred, so Mordred then met Arthur on the battlefield during the Battle
of Camlann where Arthur was expecting him and was able to best him since
Mordred was fighting in a blind rage. However, Mordred was able to deal a fatal
blow that would later claim Arthur s life and exact Mordred s vengeance on Arthur.

The Session Initiation Protocol Sip
The Session Initiation Protocol SIP is responsible for signaling and controlling
communication over the internet. The public switch telephone network is what can
connect two telephone servers and allow them to connect with one another. In its
birthing years, the PSTN was very simply operated. This network could connect two
telephones to allow conversations from homes to businesses by telephonelines. As
technology increased private branch exchanges were created. The PBE helped the
capability of increasing telephone lines to multiple different destinations. Although
the advancement on technology is extremely helpful to those who conduct
international business affairs, it also opens the door for many protocol vulnerabilities.
As with any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of communication is widely used across the United States and other
countries for both business and personal usage, because it is among the simplest. Call
setup is the way that two telephones can recognize one another and share information
via those two lines. This means that SIP understands call setup is the main
application layer.
The act of using voIP over the internet opens the window for many internet attacks
and security and protocol issues. Protocol vulnerabilities include numerous attacks
all at once, security vulnerabilities, and attacks exploiting private and crucial
information. VoIP is a freely opened environment, therefore, there is a large
window of opportunity to the hacking world. What this means is that the internet
is easily assessable to a multitude of people, some with good intent and some with
malicious intent. Because this is made to be so easily accessed, it is easy for a
person to act in a criminal manor and disrupt the flow of private conversations. To
help eliminate some of these issues SIP has evolved as the signaling protocol to
recognize and handle mass media sessions for the internet and its extremities. These
vulnerabilities are so severe because attackers can exhaust and misuse available
resources, create false responses to malicious requests, or discover more security
vulnerabilities.
To secure VoIP networks can be very complicated. The first VoIP vulnerability is
insufficient verification data. This weakness
A Reflection Of I Am Joaquin
I Am Joaquin, also known as Yo soy Joaquin, is a famous poem, which associated
with the Chicano movement in the 1960s in the United States. The poem was written
by Rodolfo Corky Gonzales, a Mexican American boxer, poet, and political activist.
Besides that, there is a photograph, which also talks about the Chicanomovement, and
it named The National Chicano Moratorium Protest/March was held on August 29,
1970. Both the poem and the photograph spoke of the struggles that the Chicano
people had faced in fighting to achieve the economic justice and equal right in the
United States.
As we know, Mexican Americans had been oppressed for years in the United States.
We can say that they were sometimes treated worse than African Americans.
According to the textbook, the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA)
formed in 1959, but there were a few memberships. Besides that, many MAPA
members were active in the liberal California Democratic Council (CDC), which
supported the Civil Rights movement and promoted representation for African
Americans but ignored Mexicans (Acuna 300). Recognizing that, Gonzales wrote the
poem I Am Joaquin, which spoke of the oppression of Mexican Americans to reach
out to Chicano youth fighting to get the cultural security and the political and
economic justice. The poem was appreciated because it provided the revolutionary
movement with a brief statement of Chicano nationalism and ideology. Similar to the
poem, the photograph had outlined the Chicano people s political ideology. They
wanted to live in the peaceful, non violent, and they wanted to fight for civil rights
and to end the war. In order to promote the Chicano movement, Chicano people had
given out many strategies. By 1967, more students of Mexican entered into the
colleges. They formed the Mexican American Student Association (MASA) and on
May 13, 1967, Chicano students met at Loyola University (Los Angeles) and founded
the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) (Acuna 309). The organizations
mainly gained the rights for Chicano people about the public education, Mexican
American studies programs, antiwar, and labor movements. Besides fighting to
achieve the civil rights, Mexican Americans established many organizations
Essay On Ethnicity And Multiculturalism
The meaning of music and its value has evolved over the years of its birth. In the
present world, music is now interpreted and taken as one can imagine it. The idea and
worth of music to an individual or group can mean anything to them. There is no
consistent meaning of music because anyone can create their own meaning rather
than following another s. Ethnicity on the other hand has a solid definition. From the
Oxford Concise Dictionary of Sociology, Ethnicity defines individuals who consider
themselves, or are considered by others, to share common characteristics which
differentiate them from the other collectives in a society within which they develop
distinct cultural behavior. (Marshall, 1994) Ethnicity in a sense is the idea and... Show

I felt like there was no diversity when it came to the repertoire that the ensembles
performed. I bring this up because I grew up in an environment that is filled to the
brim with different cultures and backgrounds, but the music that the children learn
only represents one group. I feel like the town s music program could have been so
much more but it fell stuck to traditions. By doing this, children immediately become
uninterested in music and dislike taking music classes and only a handful of children
stay within the program. Their only reason to take the class is to fill the requirement
then afterwards never take a music class again. In the end, the students have more
trouble finding their own identity, ethnically and musically. They had to explore the
music for themselves and find what they like.
I believe it is important to showcase all of the distinct genres and styles of music in a
music classroom because they are all important to whoever is listening and it helps
show the students that they should be proud of what they identify themselves as. It is
disappointing to see such a great and well funded music program such as South
Brunswick Township to fall under traditions and norms, and not further explore other
music that can help students find themselves. It is vital to show children different
composers and artists that are like them and are more invested into and better
represent them

A Satirical Analysis Of Benji Cowart s Song, Rude
When the song Rude by MAGIC! first aired on the radio, it was an instant hit. The
video told a romantic tale of a young couple overcoming the disapproval of the girl
s father. This story was well received by most of the public, but Benji Cowart had a
different view. Believing the father was right, Cowart made a humorous parody of
Rude from the father s perspective. His video became a viral sensation on YouTube,
but with the fame came controversy. The comment sections were alight with debate
over who was right: the father or the boyfriend. After viewing the differing portrayals
of the father and suitor in the two videos, it may at first seem that the father has the
better case; however, the marriage should be up to the couple. While the original...

The original intends to make the suitor likable, but the parody tries to portray him
as a failure. In the beginning of the original song, the suitor seems polite. Asking
for a father s blessing has become uncommon, but the suitor still asks because he
knows that the father is old fashioned ( Rude ). This maturity is short lived. As
soon as the father declines his request, the suitor sings, Why you gotta be so rude?
/ Don t you know I m human too? ( Rude ). These lines make the boyfriend appear
childish and petty. This is exemplified when, in the lyrics of Rude, he says that he
ll marry his girlfriend with or without the father s permission ( Rude ). The parody
also portrays the boyfriend as immature, but the lyrics have far harsher critiques
than that. According to the song, the boyfriend is poor, lazy, and a failure; the
father sings about him flipping burgers for a living and inhabiting in his mother s
basement ( Rude Remix ). With more facts about the boyfriend revealed in the
parody and original, the father seems to be right in his disapproval of the marriage;
however, one major perspective hasn t been considered: the

By the 1960s, however, it was becoming obvious that if the NHL did not expand, a

Peter Drucker 1
Peter F. Drucker developed the Management by Objectives Theory . This theory
presents an objective that needs to be accomplished. A manager will receive an
objective and break it down into achievable goals. The Manager will then delegate
employees on what tasks should be done. Once all tasks are complete the project
will fit together like pieces of a puzzle. This style of managementis good for the
employee in the fact that they are told what to do, but get to be creative and
accomplish the task in their own manner.

The Management by Objective s is very versatile and can be used for many
different purposes. It can be used when you want employees to develop self
leadership and management skills. This will also help employees be creative; and
be able to draw back into past experience and pick up on patterns and apply them to
present tasks (Kotelnikov, 2001, В¶ 5).
Setting Objectives In Management by Objectives theory the hardest part can be the
first step of the process, setting the objectives. When starting this management style
there are two questions that you can ask to get yourself started. These questions
are; what are the objectives and what are the time frames in which goals should be
met (Kotelnikov, 2001, p. 2)? When setting up the objectives for you first time the
S.M.A.R.T. method is a good resource to use. This method acts as a guideline to set
up objectives and to keep you on the right track. The S.M.A.R.T. method stands for:
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time based (Bogue, 2009, В¶ 12).
When setting up objectives there are many variables that come into effect. First off
objectives should be specific; this is done by describing what you are trying to
achieve. For example, stating that productivity needs to increase is very broad; and
should be stated more along the lines of increase productivity by ten percent . This
way the objective

Why College Education Is Important to Me
Why college education is important to me . By Janelle D. Crichlow EN110
Achieving Academic Excellence Ashworth College A college degree is important
for a variety of reasons for both the young and the old, namely to develop or
improve one s trade skills, to experience different cultures and to increase one s
educational background in order to attain a higher paying job. For me, a college
degree is important because it will help me to attain the educational background I
need to make myself more marketable in the ever changing workforce. It will also
provide me with the confidence and skills needed to apply for a better paying job or
aid me in attaining the ever elusive promotion, if I so desire. John G. Ramsay, a

For me personally, the college degree obtained will aid me in being able to better
complete the tasks to which I am assigned at work. It will also give my boss actual
evidence that I have the necessary skills needed to be promoted to a higher and
better paying position. A college degree will give me the knowledge base I need to
compete in the workforce. College life makes it possible for students to meet and
be acquainted with people from all works of life and to possibly build work
contacts with these people later in life. It provides students with access to differing
cultures, personalities and attitudes and provides students with the playground to
learn to handle them. Due to the fact that a college student is exposed to varying
subject matters, both in and out of his faculty, a student can demonstrate to his
employee that he is better equipped to handle learning new concepts since he is
more well rounded and knowledgeable in different areas, both in and out of his job
scope. The efficiency at making and completing short, medium and long term goals,
displayed by the student, allows the employer to ascertain how effective the
employee will be at setting and achieving his goals and how effective he will be
with time management and multitasking. In conclusion, a college degree will provide
me with the hope and means of attaining the heights I intend to reach in my
workplace. It will provide me with the confidence and peace of mind that I can take
The Decline Of British Bees
The Decline of British Bees There are over 1500 insect species that are thought to
help with pollination in the UK. Virtually any insect that visits flowers can carry out
pollination. This includes the best known, the bees along with butterflies, hoverflies,
a few beetles and moths. Bees are a massive component in ecological systems with 78
94% of wild plant species and 75% of crop species pollinated by animals and provide
important social and economic aids to humans through crop pollination and
maintaining the biodiversity and character of the British landscape. It is generally
accepted that pollinator figures are in deterioration. Most Garden plants and
agricultural/horticultural crops rely on bees to bring about fertilisation by
transferring pollen from the flowers anthers to the stigmas. These include most tree
and soft fruits, and many vegetables including marrows, courgettes runner beans,
tomatoes and broad beans, Allowing the decline of pollinators means that plants that
are not pollinated will not produce seeds or fruits, this is a problem if not remedied
will affect the whole of the world and civilization as we know it as an abundance of
unfertilised plants could eventually lead to food shortages and environmental
destruction through the loss of vegetation. (Rhs.org.uk, 2016) What is causing the
decline? Despite their importance, both to the natural environment and people
diseases, habitat degradation and unsustainable agriculture, have placed substantial

Analysis Of The Song Africa By Toto Essay
Personally, one of my all time favorite songs is Africa by Toto, which is featured
on his self titled and fourth album Toto: IV. This song is one of my favorites
because it brings me a sense of nostalgia as I used to listen to this song all of the
time as a child. Now, despite there being no actual reason behind liking the song
besides its nostalgic effects, I absolutely adore it, and every time this song comes
on, I get super excited and sing along no matter where I am. I could be out in
public, which has happened before, and I will immediately stop when Africa
comes on and begin to sing the song at the top of my lungs because it is just so
catchy and it brings me back to the good old days when things were much simpler.
One specific interpretation of the song that I believe could be taken to heart and
represent me is that the song is actually about cleansing (i.e. the rain) and going
back to the origins of life, or in this case Africa, to where life began for this man so
that he could start over and get away from the world for a while. This, I feel,
represents me in that sometimes I wish I could get away from the world and
technology for a bit too, and like I addressed earlier go back to much simpler times,
but that s just one perspective of the song as it has been interpreted in many
different ways. Now another song that I love, which has similar effects to Africa is
We Didn t Start the Fire by Billy Joel, which is featured on his album Storm Front.

Marketing methods have made major developments as web presence and social
media have continued to soar in their ability to influence consumer behaviour. As
marketing companies continue to gather consumers behaviours through online
surveys, focus groups.(James Stone). Consumers now get depth information about
product or service via internet. Now organisations are providing 24/7 online services
to their customers.
The American Marketing Association defines marketing as It is the activity includes
set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and
exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at
large which adds to profits ( kotler keller, 2012). Marketing Management means the
analysis, planning, implementation and control of plans or programs designed to
create, build and maintain beneficial exchange with target consumers for the purpose
of achieving organisational objectives. The objectives of marketing management are
to create demand through different means by providing information about the utility
of product, customer satisfaction, to increase market share and profit, to create
goodwill and public image. Today s marketers are focusing to maintain reputation in

Stereotypes Of Women In Sports Essay
Every week, a new issue of Sports Illustrated magazine is distributed throughout the
world, showing a provocative image of a woman athlete, on the front cover or
inside, barely clothed, belittling a women s athletic ability in their professional
sport. In different aspects of the world today women are underrepresented such as
political positions, STEM and most importantly sports. Even though Title IX has
increased females participation in sports there is still a lack of support of women s
athletic events. The main focus of this review is to examine how women athletes are
portrayed in the media compared to men athletes.

Many athletes are stereotyped by gender because the commentators are the ones
speaking to the public while the public get familiarized to these stereotypes. Many
commentators comment very stereotypical comments but to the public it is not very
shocking due to the multitude of times it has occurred which they have grown
familiar to. One of such was by a commentator , Colin Murray said during the
Olympics that the ultimate athlete would have the stamina of Mo [Farah], the speed
of [Usain] Bolt, the leap of [Greg] Rutherford and the bottom of Jess Ennis
(Stanistreet). To a professional female athlete this was a very gender stereotyped
comment due to the fact that only one of the four athletes mentioned was a woman
and that the provocative part of the athlete, the butt, was given to a female athlete as
the ultimate athlete. Through a study on the NCAA National Championship Games
for men and women basketball, they have discovered that the commentators
constantly mark the women s game repeating phrases like, ...some of the best women
s college basketball teams.. , ...is a legend in women s basketball... , and ...this
NCAA women s semifinal is brought to you by ... (Messner and Duncan). The word
women was periodically brought up during the female championships, marking the
gender stereotype, but while the male championships

Scholars and film critiques have often regarded the fifth generation film Director,
Zhang Yi Mou s films as a visually sensual feast (Zhu 26). The predominant use of
the color Red in his highly stylized films: Red Sorghum (1988), Ju Dou and Raise the
Red Lantern (1991) are evidence of his trademark visual style thus leading scholars
to critically analyze the symbolic representation of the color. I would argue however,
in addition to the prevalent use of red in his art house films, there are several
supporting colors (black, white, grey, blue), intertwining with the color red. Zhang

that there are no lanterns in 1st mistress s bedroom. This automatically eliminates
her from the battle of lanterns, and may be reasoned for her age and the fact that
she has already given the master a son, fulfills her filial duties as a wife.
According to Kong, Red in Chinese culture symbolizes luck and popularity and is
commonly used in important rituals and ceremonies...the color red is a vital
signifier that is often charged with a special ironic power (123). Red is often
associated with passion and lust, though the latter is true to this film, the symbolic
representation of red amount to sexuality as a means of gaining political power
within the Chen household. The dining table scene where 3rd mistress arrives
fashionably late dressed in a bright red gown shows that she currently holds the
power in the amongst the four mistresses. This power , once acquired comes with
the consequence of being objectified under the red light to the master s male gaze.
Hence referring back to Kong who mentions the power these women gain is ironic.
Their victory is the attention of the master s affection for one night. This further
emphasizes the lack of power and importance women have under the Confucian
ideologies. Perhaps the red tones
Theory And Practice Of Supervision
Theory and practice of supervision
Supervision theories and practices began emerging as soon as counsellors started to
train other counsellors (Bernard Goodyear, 2009). Several different theoretical
models have developed to clarify and support counselling supervision. The focus of
early models of supervision had generally been based on counselling theories (such as
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Adlerian or client centred), but these orientation
specific models have begun to be challenged as supervision has many characteristics
that are different to counselling. Competency as a counsellor does not automatically
translate into competency as a supervisor, and when supervisee/supervisor
orientations differ, conflicts may arise (Falender ... Show more content on

A range of different models have evolved to provide a framework for these topics
within which supervisors of can organize their approaches to supervision, and act as
an aid to understanding reality (Powell, 1993).
Agency Model of Supervision Kadushin
Kadushin describes a supervisor as someone to whom authority is delegated to direct,
coordinate, enhance, and evaluate on the job performance of the supervisees for
whose work he/she is held accountable. In implementing this responsibility, the
supervisor performs administrative, educational, and supportive functions in
interaction with the supervisee in the context of a positive relationship (Powell, 1993).
In educational supervision the primary issue for Kadushin is the counsellor knowing
how to perform their job well and to be accountable for work performed, and
developing skills through learning and feedback. The object is to increase
understanding and improve skill levels by encouraging reflection on, and exploration
of the work (Tsui, 2005).
In supportive supervision the primary issue is counsellor morale and job
satisfaction, as well as dealing with stress. The stresses and pressures of the coaching
role can affect work performance and take its toll psychologically and physically. In
extreme and prolonged situations these may ultimately lead to burnout. The
supervisor s role is to help the counsellor manage that stress more
Analysis Of Masolino And Masaccio s Depictions Of Adam...
This assignment considers Masolino and Masaccio s depictions of Adam and Eve as
part of a ritual complex that communicated expectations of feminine gendered
behavior. Beginning with an analysis of both images, the text continues by briefly
contextualizing the images within the Brancacci chapel.
Masolino s Adam and Eve: The Fall materially approximates mankind s earliest and
most far reaching act of selfishness to the female body. In this segment of the
entrance archway, Eve has presumably bitten or is about to bite into the forbidden
fruit of the tree of knowledge, coaxed by the figure of the Serpent. The biblical couple
stands naked, uncovered, and unashamed while this anthropic snake contours the tree
and Eve s arm, gazing at the scene from above. As discussed in lecture, this
compositional proximity weighs Eve as responsible for the Fall. The flat backdrop,
once host to healthful, abundant vegetation, has today faded to the original nero vite
as a result of surface abrasions. This considered, the artist rendered a naturalistic
depiction of the scene, looking to Classical precedents in the posture of both human
figures. Keeping in with the time s conventions of painting, Eve is painted in a paler
tint than Adam. The Serpent s human face above Eve shares her pigmentation,
gendering the compound creature as feminine. It should be noted that this shared
coloration is not incidental, but rather a deliberate gesture on behalf of the artist:

Negative Effects Of Water Bottles
Not many people think that drinking an innocent water bottle causes such a major
effect. Water bottles in our society have such a great effect that people don t even
realize it. When you throw away a water bottle, it s harmless right? Well, you re
wrong if you think it doesn t harm the earth. Many people don t consider to start
recycling, but should start because of how it protects the environment, as to just
throwing away the water bottles. In addition, using water bottles yet is a good
decision because if you use the water fountains, it is just basically faucet water. Yet, i
think water bottles should not be used in our society. To start with, article Goodbye,
Bottled Water? , it introduces you to the importance of how bottled water negatively
affects the environment. Whenever you throw away a water bottle, you re causing
more harm to the environment. Water bottles are made up of plastic, so when it
goes to the landfills, it is releasing chemicals that aren t supposed to be released onto
earth. The author of the article uses logos and ethos to get the reader to understand
how negative the impact of water bottles are. The way the author uses logos is
because he uses facts, talking about the amount of bottles are in landfills and also the
harm it causes earth. The author also uses ethos because of the mayor of San
Francisco, he understands the information about plastic bottles. Since he deals with
the city s landfill and manages the city, he himself has information on the situation.
In the text it states, According to a statement from the Mayor s office, More than 1
billion plastic water bottles end up in California s landfills each year, taking 1,000
years to biodegrade and leaking toxic additives such as phthalates into the
groundwater. (Hennessey) In other words, this is proving how the article is using
both logos, talking about the statistics of plastic water bottles.
The article Water, Water Everywhere in bottles talks about how customers who buy
the water bottles, cannot go a day without having one because of how much they
are used to having the water bottles. For example it says, In a December poll by
Mintel, 29% of bottled water drinkers said they would feel strange not always having
The Theory of Reconsolidation
The Theory of Reconsolidation What is it and how can it impact on our lives?
Learning is a very important aspect of humans and creatures alike. Not only is it
essential to the survival and adaption into this world but it also defines who we are
as individuals (Schiller et al, 2010; Tronson Taylor, 2007). Memories from past
experiences shape the people that we are today. A crucial element to learning is
memory, without it we would not be able to retain information. The process of
memory is very distinct and consists of several different stages: acquisition of
memory, consolidation, retrieval and then either reconsolidation or extinction
(Debiec Ledoux, 2004; Diergaarde, Schoffelmeer De Vries, 2008). As memory is
such a critical aspect of learning, it is no wonder that its distinct process has become
the topic of much research in the neurobiological universe (Hupbach et al, 2007;
Nader Hardt, 2009).
After a new memory is learnt, it enters the process of encoding during which the
memory is labile and capable of disruption until it becomes stabilised over a period
of time (Nader Einarsson, 2010; Nader et al, 2000). This process is called
consolidation and originally consisted of the theory that once stabilised in the brain, it
remains fixed (Suzuki et al, 2004). This theory has been rebutted by the acceptance of
reconsolidation, a theory that imposes the ideology that when memories are
retrieved, through similar experiences (Lee, 2009), they become labile until,
Midsummer Night s Dream And Mr Sponge Essay
Bottom from Midsummer Night s Dream and Mr. Sponge from Mr. Sponge s
Sporting Tour have many similarities. Both characters are not who they seem to be
and have far more meanings at the end of their texts. William Shakespeare and Robert

Bottom uses comedyto draw you in and Mr. Sponge is unpredictable. Trough out the
writings there are examples of these. The comparisons between Bottom and Mr.
Sponge can be found in their actions and personalities given to them by their authors.
In the play a Midsummer Night s Dream, the characterNick Bottom is weaver by
trade and provides comical appeasement throughout the text. He has a great
ambition toward his acting skills. He is an amateur actor and is very enthusiastic

Visualization of the Dynamics of translation in live cells
Translation is a very important step in the process of gene expression. Even though
it is a very important step, little is known about it. It is a challenge to study the
translation of gene expression due to the limited time of chromosome maturation. In
this study the author developed a plan to directly see the translation activity of single
mRNAs in live cells. The author predicts that by using an improved version of
SunTag system he will be able to see the translation. SunTag is a proteinscaffold
which makes multiple copies of single cells that enables imaging of single protein
molecules in active cells for a long term. As the study continues it becomes interesting
to see the different observations the author gets by using different versions of SunTag.
As the author approaches the study using the SunTag system he gets to see the
translation of mRNAs in live cells at the level of single molecules. The method he
used were traditional cloning techniques, and gene synthesis techniques to help
improve the sensitivity of the SunTan system. The original SunTag has 24 repetitions
of peptide epitope, so to improve the system he generated 32 new epitopes, and
combined them two together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Whenever the thought of domestic violence comes to mind, more than often the
visual picture is a women or a child. However, there is another side that has been
ignored because it is pushed under the rug. The unfortunate fact is that men are the
victims of domestic violence at least as often as women are. While the very idea of
men is being beaten by their wives or partners runs contrary to many of our deeply
ingrained beliefs about men and women, female or male violence against men is a
well documented phenomenon almost completely ignored by both the media and
society (Watson 2013). The majority of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guilt most often what keeps the victim, at the hands of their abuser, that internal
turmoil that the victim goes through with leaving the since of feeling responsible, the
feeling of leaving the relationship and the household, this alone is the underlying
reasons behind not leaving, not wanting to separate the household. Self blame can not
be avoided for some of those who believe that they just have not done enough, the
only thing that will help is time, distance and healing and too not get into another
relationship until they are completely ready. It is estimated that about 3.2 million
men are victims of assault by their partner each year in the United States.
However, most of these assaults are relatively minor, such as hitting, smacking,
pushing, and shoving, others are much more serious. . It has raised serious questions
about implementation of arrest policies, equivalency of intimate partner aggression
across genders, and management of female domestic violence offenders. This study
compares demographic characteristics, criminal history variables, and the past
domestic violence history of men and women arrested for domestic assault against a
heterosexual intimate partner. Using victim reported information and data collected
by local criminal justice agencies, we
Holland Enterprises
Holland Enterprises Most recently the firm Holland Enterprises has retained an hr
consultant to review analyze and revise the current compensation and benefit
structure. We have seen since 2007 a 25% decrease in the workforce due to a lack of
the benefits system that is in place. My team is committed to analyze and potentially
change the perception that Holland s benefit system is unfair and uncompetitive in
the marketplace. We will find that organizations excel and remain competitive when
they have consistent human resource practices that align with the companies
organizational goals. Increasing organizational productivity is important to any
organization. Managers know that simply paying employees more will not result in

In the course of their lives, many individuals acquire various kinds and levels of
knowledge that organizations value. Additionally, through education, experience,
training, and natural predisposition, some individuals are able to demonstrate
different and greater skills than others. The worth to the organization of the
individually acquired and job required knowledge and skills is identified through job
rates of pay (Henderson, 2006). In order to construct a new pay structure and benefit
system we must first look at the five major components that will factor into our
decisions. These components are compensation and benefit philosophy, pay grades,
ratio of base pay to incentive pay, external equity and internal equity and other types
of benefits such as deferred compensation, health insurance vacation and sick leave.
There are a number of components that need to be addressed when developing your
compensation systems to ensure they align with your organizational strategy and
objectives. One key to remember is that your compensation strategy must help to
create the work culture you want. How you structure your systems and manage the
internal and external equity issues, will directly inform the culture of your
organization... A compensation philosophy is developed to guide the design and
complexity of your compensation programs; this is done by identifying your goals and
Examples Of Queer Theory In The Great Gatsby

Queer theory is a post structuralist theory that emerged in the early 1990s from the
fields of queer and women s studies. The theory builds on both feminist challenges to
the idea that gender is part of the essential self and upon gay and lesbian studies close
examination of the socially constructed nature of sexual activity and identities. This
theory focuses on the mismatches between sex, gender, and desire. Queerness has
been prominently identified as bisexual, lesbian, and gay people, although it also
includes different categories such as cross dressing, intersex bodies and identities,
gender ambiguity and gender corrective surgery. The queer theory is an attempt to
expose the different lifestyles that people may be unaware of and to give them
several categories in the LGBTQ community to look at; correlates sexes, genders,
and sexualities out of specifically lesbian and gay. One of these examples of queer
analysis is in F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby.
The narrative progression in the novel is stationed around Jay Gatsby s deep love
for Daisy Fay Buchanan and the three overlapping heterosexual love triangles:
Gatsby Daisy Tom, Tom Myrtle George, Myrtle Tom Daisy. This heterosexual plot is
indeed shadowed by a homoerotic subtext but with all the twists and turns of the
novel.
I argue that the novel s sexual wrongdoing and the creation of lesbian and gay subtext

Caribbean Piracy
Piracy of the Caribbean It seems to be common knowledge that murder, thievery,
and full blown naval warfare supposedly plagued the Caribbean Sea from the 1600
s to the 1800 s. Countless tons of priceless goods such as spices, gems, rare metals,
and silks were snatched right from under merchant noses (Hanna 42). Goods that
were the basis of Triangle Trade economies, goods such as sugar, tobacco, weapons,
cotton, and sadly the lives of enslaved humans (which were considered commodities
and goods), were being spirited away at the great misfortune of the commercial based
nations (Lane). National tensions were climbing higher and higher. Allegedly this
could all be blamed upon piracy, buccaneering, and privateering being at an all time
high; this earned the time period the monomer of The Golden Age of Piracy
(Benjamin). And yet, despite all the terror and disorder previously descried, these
pirates generally had a considerably better effect (maybe even a net good effect) on
the general state of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To effectively analyze the effects of piracy we must look at three important aspects
which are, most to least important, how pirates changed the status quo of the
Caribbean, the greatest pirates and bases, and finally the effect on European nations

Emily Murphy Essay
Emily Murphy was a Canadian women s rights activist, jurist, and author. She is best
known for contributions to Canadian feminism, specifically the question of whether
women were persons under law. She is one of the strongest women in canadian
history.
In one case, the women were asked to leave the courtroom on the claims that the
statement was not fit for mixed company . This outcome was unacceptable to
Murphy and she protested to the provincial Attorney General. If the evidence is not
fit to be heard in mixed company, she argued, then the government must set up a
special court presided over by women, to try other women. (Pettinger, Tejvan.
Biography of Emily Murphy , Oxford) Murphy s request was approved and she
became the first woman police magistrate for the British Empire. Her appointment as
judge, however, became the cause for her greatest adversity concerning women
within the law.
For twelve years Murphy led the fight to have women declared legal persons in
Canada. When petitions from various women s organizations failed to open in ...

However, during her first case on 1 July, 1916, the defendant s lawyer protested
that Murphy s guilty verdict was invalid because Murphy was a women and
therefore, under the BNA act of 1867, was not a legal person. Because of this legal
challenge, Murphy began a long campaign to have women classified as persons
and the archaic 1867 law overturned. She allowed her name to be put forward as a
candidate for the Senate, however, it was turned down by Prime Minister Robert
Borden because the BNA act did not recognise women as persons. Motivated by
these anachronism, she found that one way to challenge a law was to present a
submission from five interested parties to the Canadian Supreme Court. These
became known as the Famous Five, and included Nellie McClung, Louis McKinney,
Henrietta Edwards and Irene
Criminal Profiling And The Criminal Justice System
Many Criminologist and Psychologists believe that there are specific psychological
traits that can disconnect a person from the rest of society. Criminal profiling is the
approach that an individual who commits a crime, may leave some sort of
psychological evidence that can be crucial to an investigation. This theory is a vital
part of the criminal justicesystem today.
Criminology targets why individuals commit crimes and why they behave in certain
situations. By understanding why a person commits a crime, you can develop ways to
control crime or change the criminal to a certain extent. There are many theories in
criminology. Some characterize crime to the individual. They believe that an
individual weighs the pros and cons and makes a choice whether or not to act
criminally. Others believe it is the community s responsibility to make sure that
citizens do not commit crime by offering them a safe place to live in, in society.
Some argue that some individuals have specific traits that will determine how they
will react when put in certain negative conditions. Overall, the determination of a
criminal can be done through criminal profiling.
There are many different psychological disorders that can determine a person s
actions or emotions. Mental illnesses are medical conditions that disrupt a person s
thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Just as heart
disease is a disorder of the heart, mental illnesses are medical conditions of the
Disadvantages Of Flexible Working Systems
Nowadays, for most people, they may prefer choose the life without rigid or fixed
usually. Instead, the balance life should be flexible enough to take account of
various circumstances, places, times, etc. Consequently work as an important part
of people s life, people will be likely to keep the balance of it. Recently in many
countries, the flexible working system is becoming more and more common in
institutions and companies. Some of these countries governments also support it,
because the system has low time and places requirements, and it is a new approach
for employers which means it has the space for further development. Flexible
working has many advantages of it for employers, meanwhile, the disadvantages are
often unavoidable. Firstly, flexible working system can helps employers save money
on the office cost. Secondly, flexible working system help employers... Show more

On the one hand, the good effects of flexible working include it can help
employers save much money on office cost and the work efficiency can be
improved by using it to motivate employees to work harder. On the other hand, the
disadvantages are it may let workers become lazy and not easy for employers to
manage their companies by this system. In my opinion, flexible working is a new
and wonderful system for both of employers and employees. It can help people
keep balance between work and life whatever you are employer or employee.
Comparing the advantages and disadvantages of flexible working, I think it has
more advantages and these flexible manage ways can make hard workers, and then
they can make more money for employers. Although there still are some
disadvantages, we should believe that people can correct them little by little. In the
future, the flexible working has a very strong chance to become really popular system
in most companies over the
Descriptive Essay About Chunky Monkey
When my sister in law planned an evening out with our young babies, I was skeptical
that I would have fun myself because any entertainment avenue in Karachi that caters
to children has nothing for adults and vice versa. However, Chunky Monkey is the
latest entertainment option on the block that has something for every age group. It is
the latest amusement parkat Sea View right before Hyperstar. For exact location, go

The reviews on the internet were not very favorable with some reviewers claiming
its extremely expensive to others saying there are not enough rides for young kids

There are shaking cars, flying helicopters, revolving animals, mini carousels and
what not. The plethora of rides that Chunky Monkey has on offer will give your kids
plenty of enjoyment. Apart from rides, there is Air Hockey, basketball, robots
challenging you to grab a stuffed toy or candy within time limits. In fact there is
something for everyone.
Any amusement park is not complete without dodging cars and Chunky Monkey
has taken care of that as well. The bumping cars at Chunk Monkey are quite fun
with lots of jolts and thrusts as you drive. The timings of the car ride is also quite
long unlike some parks where the ride stops after a first few turns.
There is also a 7D cinema, an ATM machine and a prayer area meaning you can plan
an all day out at Chunky Monkey if you want to. Overall, Chunky Monkey is an
awesome entertainment outlet for the amusement park deprived Karachiites and I
hope it stays that way unlike the many preceding parks, which started off really well
but later turned into hangouts for criminals and

  • 2. Comparing Dracula And Vlad Tepes In Bram Stoker s Dracula Bram Stoker s Dracula is a commonly referenced novel in modern society, a classic gothic story. From the count on sesame street to the likeable Cullen family of the series Twilight, Dracula has become the model for all modern vampire novels. Few people are aware though that Bram Stoker based Dracula off of a real person. Real life Draculawas not a vampire, however there are many connections both subtle and obvious between the horrifying character that Bram Stokercreated and Vlad Tepes, prince of Wallachia, violent ruler of Transylvania. Specifically, there lies parallels between Dracula in Bram Stoker s novel and Vlad Tepes in the origin and connotations of the name Dracul , their affinity for playing games with their victims, and their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in this way that the last parallel between the two are drawn. Vlad the impaler was actually the prince of Wallachia, and was therefore royalty. His treatment by the people around him would be reflective of his noble title. Alongside of the fact that people respected him because of his title as prince, brutality brought in the remaining respect for Vlad. Nobody would dare go against the will of Vlad. He would punish his own people just as severely as his worst enemies. People were ultimately terrified of him. Dracula obtained his respect in a similar way, but with a much less severe approach. Dracula was not of actual royalty like Vlad was, however he was the head of the castle and thus named Count. He is seen as the head of the house or in this case castle. His patriarchal hold of the household brought about it a certain dominance over everybody within the household, including the 3 women who tried to suck Harker s blood. Dracula interrupted the scenario, stormed in with rage and ordered them back. The women seemed to be slightly afraid of him which hinted at the dominance he had over them. They obeyed his every command and made no further moves towards Harker

Following the high financial performances of their Australian stores, Country Road decided to embark into the United States of America (US) in 1989, in hope of realising the financial gains they saw here. Unfortunately, their strategies didn t work, and they found obstacles which hindered their success in the US. Country Road did this by lowering their selling prices but at the same time, maintaining the quality of their clothing. To do this, they have sourced for suppliers that are willing to cooperate with them in cost reductions (Australia s best retail, 2011). This is a win win situation for both Country Road and their suppliers where Country Road gets to reduce their cost to maintain profit and their suppliers gained good reputations. Another strategy they have used on cost reduction is by introducing product distribution directly from their China based distribution centre in year 2007, which eventually reduced their operating cost and lead time (Annual report, 2007). In addition, Country Road also pursues a differentiation strategy. This can be seen by the unique architecture and layout of their stores which makes them stand out from their rivals that were located geographically close and also the marketing of their Australian brand image (Kerr Sarina, 2006). Country road has been well established as an Australian brand in Australia before it engaged in globalization. Having a strong foothold in the Australia fashion, it is one of the most representable and well favoured fashion brands in Australia. With its growing success, this gave the firm the confidence to venture into the global market and had the capabilities to do so after Myer Emporium
  • 4. Research Paper On My Lai Massacre My Lai On March 16, 1968, in the Quang Ngai region of Vietnam, specifically My Lai, the United States military was involved in an appalling slaughter of approximately 500 Vietnamese civilians. There are numerous arguments as to why this incident even had the capacity to occur. Although some of the arguments seem valid, can one really make excuses for the slaughter of innocent people? The company that was responsible for the My Lai incident was the Charlie Company and throughout the company there were many different accounts of what happened that reprehensible day. Therefore there are a few contradictions about what had occurred, such as what the commanding officers exact instructions for the soldiers were. Even with these contradictions... I wanted to reveal what they did. My God, when I first came home, I would tell my friends and cry literally cry. (Linder) The letters he wrote, for the most part were cast aside, but some recipients were curious. Representative Morris Udall decided the letter was not to be ignored and what Ridenhour claimed had happened needed to be investigated. This is where the trials and the questioning of what actually happened, who was to blame, and what the reasons for this calamity were, began. The real query though was, even if the above questions could be answered would there ever be a clear explanation/excuse for this tragedy. As mentioned before the Vietnam War caused the soldiers to harbor a lot of hostility directed at their situation as opposed to just their enemy. These were all relatively young men fighting, 18 22, most without anything more than a high school education. They were in a strange foreign country fighting a war that most of them did not even understand. They were fighting in an oppressively hot climate among peasants of an alien culture. (Goff, Moss Terry, Upshur, 445) The main problem was that Vietnam was not a conventional war, it was very difficult to tell who the enemy was. Members of the 48th Battalion reportedly lived with the local villagers in order to conceal their presence, often

  • 6. Understanding The Utility Of A Commodity A commodity, according to Marx, is an external object that satisfies human wants as a use value while functioning as an exchange value that enters into exchange with other commodities (303 304). On one hand, the particular properties of an object, made possible by the particular kind of human labour embodied in it, define the utility of a commodity and hence its use value, which cannot be measured quantitatively due to the incommensurability across the diverse categories of utility. On the other hand, the exchange value, determined by the socially necessary labour time required for producing the commodity (306), establishes quantitative equivalences among the otherwise incommensurable use values, acting as the only media through which the value of a commodity, independent of its use value, manifests itself in exchange (305). It follows that to qualify as a commodity in Marx s definition, an object has to contain human labour in it, must possess some utility, and finally needs to be able to serve as a use value to others in order for its value to assert itself in exchange (307 308). Marx contends that while it is trivial to understand a commodity as the end product of the purposeful alterations of natural material to satisfy a particular want, a commodity becomes mystical once it enters into exchange to realize its value in the form of the objectification of human labour (319 320). The peculiarity of such objectification can be understood in two ways. Firstly,

On the Origin of Species In his On the Origin of Species, written in 1859, Charles Darwin clearly explained the gradual progression toward the speciation of organisms with his five main principles: variation, inheritance, competition, selection, and propagation. Darwin hesitated to publish his findings because he understood that his findings were based on the animal kingdom and on an evolutionary process that had to have spanned millennia. He specifically did not think that his discoveries were applicable to the evolutionof human society. In 1896, he published his most comprehensive work, The Synthetic Philosophy, a work encompassing many of his theories on society, evolution, morality, and psychology. Spencer died December 8, 1903 while working on his autobiography, which was then published in 1904. Through his anti clerical and rejectionist upbringing, Spencer was raised to attach to a theory like Darwinian evolution. In his first published article on the development of Social Darwinism, entitled The Development Hypothesis, 1852, Spencer established his lack of faith and claimed that creationism was a theory which is supported by no facts at all. He further elaborated on the issue and asserted that there must be another mode by which the world was created. He even went as far as to write that, if he were to interrogate any leading geologist or physiologists they would be forced to confess that the notion was put into his mind in childhood as part of a story which he now thinks is absurd. Spencer believed that creationism was not a viable medium on which to base scientific thought, and as a result, he was forced to find another way to explain the creation of the world. For this reason, he was drawn to evolutionary Darwinism. Spencer however, could not just accept Darwinian evolution as fact. Rather, he expanded the theory of Darwinian evolution to meet his own
  • 9. Thoreau On Civil Disobedience Konstantin Keller Anne Portman Philosophy 2010 4 December 2015 Thoreau on Civil Disobedience In Civil Disobedience, Henry Thoreau asserts that one should prioritize one s conscience over the dictates of law. Thoreau begins his essay by arguing that government is rarely useful and that its power comes merely from the fact that the government is the strongest group, rather than because they hold the most correct viewpoint. He believes that people are obligated to do what they think is right and to refuse to follow the law as dictated by the majority. If a government is being unjust, people should distance themselves from that government and refuse to follow its laws. However, he doesn t believe that people are obligated to commit their lives to eliminating such evils from the world, but rather they should not participate in said evils. Because voting and governmental reform is often ineffective, one should deal with an unjust government by ideologically dissociating one s self from the government and refusing to participate in its institutions. Thoreau begins by stating that he agrees with the saying, that government is best which governs least. He says that, one day, people will be able to have a government which does not govern at all. In its current state, Thoreau argues that government rarely proves itself useful, and that it is often abused to the point that it no longer represents the wishes of the people. According to Thoreau, the American government is a necessity

VoIP is a freely opened environment, therefore, there is a large window of opportunity to the hacking world. These vulnerabilities are so severe because attackers can exhaust and misuse available resources, create false responses to malicious requests, or discover more security vulnerabilities. To secure VoIP networks can be very complicated. The first VoIP vulnerability is insufficient verification data. This weakness

Both the poem and the photograph spoke of the struggles that the Chicano people had faced in fighting to achieve the economic justice and equal right in the United States. As we know, Mexican Americans had been oppressed for years in the United States. We can say that they were sometimes treated worse than African Americans. According to the textbook, the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) formed in 1959, but there were a few memberships. Besides that, many MAPA members were active in the liberal California Democratic Council (CDC), which supported the Civil Rights movement and promoted representation for African Americans but ignored Mexicans (Acuna 300). Recognizing that, Gonzales wrote the poem I Am Joaquin, which spoke of the oppression of Mexican Americans to reach out to Chicano youth fighting to get the cultural security and the political and economic justice. The poem was appreciated because it provided the revolutionary movement with a brief statement of Chicano nationalism and ideology. Similar to the poem, the photograph had outlined the Chicano people s political ideology. They wanted to live in the peaceful, non violent, and they wanted to fight for civil rights and to end the war. In order to promote the Chicano movement, Chicano people had given out many strategies. By 1967, more students of Mexican entered into the colleges. They formed the Mexican American Student Association (MASA) and on May 13, 1967, Chicano students met at Loyola University (Los Angeles) and founded the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) (Acuna 309). By doing this, children immediately become uninterested in music and dislike taking music classes and only a handful of children stay within the program. Their only reason to take the class is to fill the requirement then afterwards never take a music class again. In the end, the students have more trouble finding their own identity, ethnically and musically. They had to explore the music for themselves and find what they like. I believe it is important to showcase all of the distinct genres and styles of music in a music classroom because they are all important to whoever is listening and it helps show the students that they should be proud of what they identify themselves as. Setting Objectives In Management by Objectives theory the hardest part can be the first step of the process, setting the objectives. When starting this management style there are two questions that you can ask to get yourself started. These questions are; what are the objectives and what are the time frames in which goals should be met (Kotelnikov, 2001, p. 2)? When setting up the objectives for you first time the S.M.A.R.T. method is a good resource to use. This method acts as a guideline to set up objectives and to keep you on the right track. First off objectives should be specific; this is done by describing what you are trying to achieve. For example, stating that productivity needs to increase is very broad; and should be stated more along the lines of increase productivity by ten percent . This way the objective

Having sided with the minority Ogoni within his homeland of Nigeria, his protests and resistance against the dictatorship of General Sani Abacha led to his imminent execution. Within this particular short story, though, he wrote the character Bana as one who sees his acts of criminality no different from that of those in more prestigious standing. This ultimately leads the reader to question how criminal activity, such as robbery is any different from that of the sly, underhanded actions of a politician or any other individual in a position of power. Readers also develop an emotional attachment to a character, such as the main character in Chitra Divakaruni s Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter . From the direct perspective of the character, the reader looks through the eyes of an elderly widow from India who struggles to find balance between her

College life makes it possible for students to meet and be acquainted with people from all works of life and to possibly build work contacts with these people later in life. It provides students with access to differing cultures, personalities and attitudes and provides students with the playground to learn to handle them. Due to the fact that a college student is exposed to varying subject matters, both in and out of his faculty, a student can demonstrate to his employee that he is better equipped to handle learning new concepts since he is more well rounded and knowledgeable in different areas, both in and out of his job scope. The efficiency at making and completing short, medium and long term goals, displayed by the student, allows the employer to ascertain how effective the employee will be at setting and achieving his goals and how effective he will be with time management and multitasking. • 21. The Decline Of British Bees The Decline of British Bees There are over 1500 insect species that are thought to help with pollination in the UK. Virtually any insect that visits flowers can carry out pollination. This includes the best known, the bees along with butterflies, hoverflies, a few beetles and moths. Bees are a massive component in ecological systems with 78 94% of wild plant species and 75% of crop species pollinated by animals and provide important social and economic aids to humans through crop pollination and maintaining the biodiversity and character of the British landscape. It is generally accepted that pollinator figures are in deterioration. Most Garden plants and agricultural/horticultural crops rely on bees to bring about fertilisation by transferring pollen from the flowers anthers to the stigmas. These include most tree and soft fruits, and many vegetables including marrows, courgettes runner beans, tomatoes and broad beans, Allowing the decline of pollinators means that plants that are not pollinated will not produce seeds or fruits, this is a problem if not remedied will affect the whole of the world and civilization as we know it as an abundance of unfertilised plants could eventually lead to food shortages and environmental destruction through the loss of vegetation. (Rhs.org.uk, 2016) What is causing the decline? • 22. Analysis Of The Song Africa By Toto Essay Personally, one of my all time favorite songs is Africa by Toto, which is featured on his self titled and fourth album Toto: IV. This song is one of my favorites because it brings me a sense of nostalgia as I used to listen to this song all of the time as a child. Now, despite there being no actual reason behind liking the song besides its nostalgic effects, I absolutely adore it, and every time this song comes on, I get super excited and sing along no matter where I am. I could be out in public, which has happened before, and I will immediately stop when Africa comes on and begin to sing the song at the top of my lungs because it is just so catchy and it brings me back to the good old days when things were much simpler. One specific interpretation of the song that I believe could be taken to heart and represent me is that the song is actually about cleansing (i.e. the rain) and going back to the origins of life, or in this case Africa, to where life began for this man so that he could start over and get away from the world for a while. This, I feel, represents me in that sometimes I wish I could get away from the world and technology for a bit too, and like I addressed earlier go back to much simpler times, but that s just one perspective of the song as it has been interpreted in many different ways. Now another song that I love, which has similar effects to Africa is We Didn t Start the Fire by Billy Joel, which is featured on his album Storm Front. This song,

Theory And Practice Of Supervision Theory and practice of supervision Supervision theories and practices began emerging as soon as counsellors started to train other counsellors (Bernard Goodyear, 2009). Several different theoretical models have developed to clarify and support counselling supervision. The focus of early models of supervision had generally been based on counselling theories (such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Adlerian or client centred), but these orientation specific models have begun to be challenged as supervision has many characteristics that are different to counselling. Competency as a counsellor does not automatically translate into competency as a supervisor, and when supervisee/supervisor orientations differ, conflicts may arise (Falender ... A range of different models have evolved to provide a framework for these topics within which supervisors of can organize their approaches to supervision, and act as an aid to understanding reality (Powell, 1993). Agency Model of Supervision Kadushin Kadushin describes a supervisor as someone to whom authority is delegated to direct, coordinate, enhance, and evaluate on the job performance of the supervisees for whose work he/she is held accountable. In implementing this responsibility, the supervisor performs administrative, educational, and supportive functions in interaction with the supervisee in the context of a positive relationship (Powell, 1993). In educational supervision the primary issue for Kadushin is the counsellor knowing how to perform their job well and to be accountable for work performed, and developing skills through learning and feedback. The object is to increase understanding and improve skill levels by encouraging reflection on, and exploration of the work (Tsui, 2005). In supportive supervision the primary issue is counsellor morale and job satisfaction, as well as dealing with stress. The stresses and pressures of the coaching role can affect work performance and take its toll psychologically and physically. In extreme and prolonged situations these may ultimately lead to burnout. The supervisor s role is to help the counsellor manage that stress more
  • 30. Analysis Of Masolino And Masaccio s Depictions Of Adam... This assignment considers Masolino and Masaccio s depictions of Adam and Eve as part of a ritual complex that communicated expectations of feminine gendered behavior. Beginning with an analysis of both images, the text continues by briefly contextualizing the images within the Brancacci chapel. Masolino s Adam and Eve: The Fall materially approximates mankind s earliest and most far reaching act of selfishness to the female body. In this segment of the entrance archway, Eve has presumably bitten or is about to bite into the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge, coaxed by the figure of the Serpent. The biblical couple stands naked, uncovered, and unashamed while this anthropic snake contours the tree and Eve s arm, gazing at the scene from above. As discussed in lecture, this compositional proximity weighs Eve as responsible for the Fall. The flat backdrop, once host to healthful, abundant vegetation, has today faded to the original nero vite as a result of surface abrasions. This considered, the artist rendered a naturalistic depiction of the scene, looking to Classical precedents in the posture of both human figures. Keeping in with the time s conventions of painting, Eve is painted in a paler tint than Adam. The Serpent s human face above Eve shares her pigmentation, gendering the compound creature as feminine. It should be noted that this shared coloration is not incidental, but rather a deliberate gesture on behalf of the artist: these characters

To start with, article Goodbye, Bottled Water? , it introduces you to the importance of how bottled water negatively affects the environment. Whenever you throw away a water bottle, you re causing more harm to the environment. Water bottles are made up of plastic, so when it goes to the landfills, it is releasing chemicals that aren t supposed to be released onto earth. The author of the article uses logos and ethos to get the reader to understand how negative the impact of water bottles are. The way the author uses logos is because he uses facts, talking about the amount of bottles are in landfills and also the harm it causes earth. The author also uses ethos because of the mayor of San Francisco, he understands the information about plastic bottles. • 33. The Theory of Reconsolidation The Theory of Reconsolidation What is it and how can it impact on our lives? Learning is a very important aspect of humans and creatures alike. Not only is it essential to the survival and adaption into this world but it also defines who we are as individuals (Schiller et al, 2010; Tronson Taylor, 2007). Memories from past experiences shape the people that we are today. A crucial element to learning is memory, without it we would not be able to retain information. The process of memory is very distinct and consists of several different stages: acquisition of memory, consolidation, retrieval and then either reconsolidation or extinction (Debiec Ledoux, 2004; Diergaarde, Schoffelmeer De Vries, 2008). As memory is such a critical aspect of learning, it is no wonder that its distinct process has become the topic of much research in the neurobiological universe (Hupbach et al, 2007; Nader Hardt, 2009). After a new memory is learnt, it enters the process of encoding during which the memory is labile and capable of disruption until it becomes stabilised over a period of time (Nader Einarsson, 2010; Nader et al, 2000). This process is called consolidation and originally consisted of the theory that once stabilised in the brain, it remains fixed (Suzuki et al, 2004). This theory has been rebutted by the acceptance of reconsolidation, a theory that imposes the ideology that when memories are retrieved, through similar experiences (Lee, 2009), they become labile until,

The theory builds on both feminist challenges to the idea that gender is part of the essential self and upon gay and lesbian studies close examination of the socially constructed nature of sexual activity and identities. I argue that the novel s sexual wrongdoing and the creation of lesbian and gay subtext work in

National tensions were climbing higher and higher. Allegedly this could all be blamed upon piracy, buccaneering, and privateering being at an all time high; this earned the time period the monomer of The Golden Age of Piracy (Benjamin). And yet, despite all the terror and disorder previously descried, these pirates generally had a considerably better effect (maybe even a net good effect) on the general state of...
