Essay On Jamestown
Crafting an essay on the topic of Jamestown poses a unique set of challenges that require a
careful balance of historical research, critical analysis, and effective storytelling. The task is not
merely about presenting a chronological account of events but also delving into the complexities
of the Jamestown settlement – the struggles, triumphs, and the broader historical context.
Firstly, delving into the historical background demands extensive research to provide a
comprehensive overview. This includes understanding the socio-political climate of the time, the
motivations behind the establishment of Jamestown, and the early interactions between the
settlers and the indigenous people. Navigating through various primary and secondary sources
can be both time-consuming and intellectually demanding.
Analyzing the significance of Jamestown in the broader context of American history is another
layer of complexity. It involves evaluating the lasting impact of the settlement on subsequent
events, such as its role in shaping colonial America and its contributions to the formation of the
United States. This requires a deep understanding of historical causation and the ability to draw
connections between seemingly disparate events.
Furthermore, the essay should engage the reader by presenting the information in a coherent and
compelling narrative. Balancing factual accuracy with an engaging writing style is a delicate task,
as the aim is not just to convey information but also to evoke the reader's interest and
understanding.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Jamestown requires a multifaceted approach that involves
meticulous research, critical analysis, and effective storytelling. It demands a commitment to
accuracy and an ability to weave together historical facts into a cohesive narrative. Successfully
navigating these challenges can lead to a rich and insightful exploration of the historical
significance of Jamestown.

The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 )
The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative
methods for satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including
the use of individual graduation committees. This bill gives students a better chance
at graduating, although it may or not be continued results of this bill will have to be
processed first. I chose this bill because I believed that it would be well known also,
because it is important to school life which has taken a big turn in recent years.
Educationhas taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit the sudden
drop in funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive
branch due to withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and
what requirements for Individual Graduation committees (IGC). One of the effects of
SB 149 is, The law requires school districts and open enrollment charter schools to
have IGCs for any eleventh or twelfth grade studentwho has not passed two out of
the five end of the course (EOC) exams at or the end of the eleventh grade s year
(Seliger). IGCs need the principal, the teacher of the relevant course; the department
chair or lead teacher supervising the teacher of the relevant course; and either the
student s parent/guardian, or the student if the student is at least 18 years of age or is
an emancipated minor (Seliger). This is a pretty basic requirementthat I believe most
organizations involving students would have
Portland Trail Blazers
How things have changed in Portland It s amazing how many things can change
over the course of a few weeks. About a month ago, the Portland Trail Blazers had
one of the best starting lineups in the league. They were young and rising and a
perennial playoff team. Fast forward a month and the Trail Blazers are without four
of their five starting players. Nicolas Batum, Wesley Matthews, Robin Lopez, and
LaMarcus Aldridge are no longer with the team. Nicolas Batum (small forward) is
the only player out of the group that was actually traded. On June 24th, the Trail
Blazers traded him to the Charlotte Hornets for Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh.
Without Batum, the Trailblazers lack a defensive wing and a corner three point

Matthews was a great three point shooter and defender, similar to Batum. If he was
healthy, the Blazers could have won their first round series and maybe the team
would still be intact and we would be having a different conversation. Nonetheless,
Matthews will be sorely missed, particularly by their point guard Damian Lillard.
Robin Lopez (center) just recently signed with the New York Knicks, leaving the
team without its top interior defender. Robin Lopez is the most replaceable out of
the group, however, he was a great contributor to this team. He rebounded well for
them last season and played great defense, but the Blazers can still find a
replacement. Finally, the player that changed the culture completely is their
former All Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge. LaMarcus has been an
important part of the Blazers since he joined the team in 2006. He became the
franchise player several years later and improved every season. During this past
season, he averaged a career high in ppg at 23.4 points per game. He s been the
heart and soul and number one scoring option for the Blazers and they re going to
sorely miss him. LaMarcus Aldridge bolted for the San Antonio Spurs this past
weekend. Without Aldridge they lose a quarter of their offense and will struggle
against the other dominant power forwards in the Western

Part 2: Answer the following questions in a complete paragraph of your own words.
1.Do you think President Ronald Reagan s policies had a positive or negative effect
on the country overall? Explain your response.
I think President Ronald Reagan s polices had a very positive effect on the United
States. He helped get America back on track during a very rough time. This was a
difficult task, but he was able to make it happen. Ronald Reagan tried multiple
tactics such as task cuts to improve the economy. Overtime it naturally fixed itself.
He also was involved in foreign affairs. Keeping world peace is necessary and
preventing another World War is always a plus. Ronald Reagan was a very good
president in my opinion.

Effects Of Falling Gas Prices On Operation Management...
The Effects of Falling Gas Prices on Operation Management Decision Making
Dylan Knight
Robert Morris University
Abstract This paper briefly takes a look at how the price of gas has changed over
the past ten years and what has caused the drop in fuel prices within the past few
years. It then looks at the fuel price s effect on business operation through the eyes
of the Operations Manager and the key aspects in decision making that they have to
consider when the gas prices fall, like they have recently. I then give you an idea of
how the falling prices effect the Apartment Management industry and the operations
involved in renting and renovating apartments.

The one downfall of the increased production here in the United States is the
drilling has slowed down drastically leaving many oil workers without a job and
forcing some companies out of business. (Krauss) Another cause of the gas prices
dropping, according to an article on CNN, is the economic slowdown of the
Chinese economy. They also mentioned the increased production in the United
States and finally the tentative nuclear deal which would make their oil more
readily available to our country. In the article they also predicted that by the time
football season came around that tens of thousands of gas stations across the
country will be below the $2 a gallon mark. (Isidore) Even though we have seen it
come close here in Pennsylvania, it has not gone below $2 here in the greater
Pittsburgh area. A few times that I have been home in Ohio I have seen it drop
below $2 but it ultimately just depends on which area you are in. With winter
quickly approaching gas prices are expected to continue to drop as stations mix a less
expensive blend of gas for the winter months. (Isidore) So it is a possibility that we
could see prices here in the Pittsburgh area fall to the $2 a gallon area. If I were
placed as the Operations Manager in any industry gas prices play a huge factor in
business and
Porphyria s Lover Comparison
In Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s lover, the narrator killed his lover to
remain in his love forever. There are two main characters in this poem: the female
character, Porphyria, and her lover. Her lover is low class while Porphyria comes
from a decent family. Because of this difference of social class, Porphyria could
not give up her, everything for her love; however, she came to see her lover one
night and confessed her love to him. Then, he killed her strangling her throat by her
hair in order to last her love to him forever. And he confessed his love toward her
holding her dead body all over the night. The poem was written in Victorian Era
which was the age of transition from traditional society to modern society. There still

In both poems, two male characters fall in love with a beautiful woman and get

turns his love toward Porphyria out to be lunatic and psychotic, a male character in
To idealizes Jane as an unreachable being and shows his love in a platonic and
sublime way. In both poems, female characters are beautiful and attractive, so
male characters are captivated by their beauty and hunger for their affection
throughout the poem. Furthermore, both male characters have a critical obstacle
to achieve their love difference of social status and marriage status. In Browning s
poem, male character is from low class while his lover Porphyria is from decent
family. In Victorian Era, social class still existed and it determined almost
everything, even one s marriage. In addition, women s right was not equally
treated as men s at that time, so dominant violence toward women was frequent. In
this reason, although the male character excuses he killed his lover in order to
keep her love to him forever, it seems that he projects his anger or madness at
discrimination caused by social class as he killed his aristocratic lover. On the
other hand, in Shelley s poem, the male character, actually Shelley himself,
idolizes her lover as a divine figure. In fact, Jane is a married woman, so it might
be impossible to accept his love. Thus, as he portrays her as an unreachable being,
he might comfort himself her rejection to his love. While male character in
Browning s poem chooses a very radical and violent way to keep his love, one in
Shelley s poem chooses romantic but somewhat passive way to keep his love.
However, as both male characters show their true or unrefined feeling and love
toward their lovers, these works represent one of the good examples in English

2)Social implication of this fetish 3)Commercial implications and cashing on this
fixation. Historical Background The worship of white complexion and projection
of the ideal beauty as fair skinned is not a new concept if we try to track it down he
history lane. In fact, this concept has engrained in our physc by our culture from
the ancient times. The Varna system of Social classification When Aryans (natives
of Arctic and hence fair skinned) invaded the Indus Valley, they drove the darker
skinned inhabitants down south. The ones who remained were called as das and
made to do subjugated jobs as labourers, cleaners and even undertakers. Hence in
the social classification, they were allotted the lowest rung. As time progressed
and with continuous labour in the sun, the das came to be associated with dark
colour and simultaneously fair colour started to be associated with affluence and
aristocracy. Hence, the social classification, the caste system was very aptly called
as the Varna system, Varna meaning colour . Mythology If one observes ancient
Indian texts on mythology and related epics, it is easy to observe a very common
pattern. Almost in all Indian texts the hero of the epic who mostly is from a noble
family is endowed with radiant fair skin , the likes of sun and the diabolic
Human Growth Hormones In Children
Human growth hormones. What is really know about them? The average person
probably never give human growth hormones a second thought. Accordingly, they
are what help children to grow. The internal workings are developing to be viable
and healthy organs. By the time a child reaches puberty, the production of HGH
comes to a peak. It s not until he or she turns a quarter century that the HGH levels
winds up being at or around 600ug. This number greatly decreases to equal less than
20% of that 600ug.
On the other hand, if a child or baby has low levels of Somatropin or somatotropin
(GH or HGH), he or she may not develop at the same pace as other children with high
levels of HGH. HGH affects the child s growth. The child would end ... Show more

Know that there are countless imitators manufacturing faux products and claiming to
be the original human growth hormone, however, nothing compares to an authentic
and reputable brand of this unbelievable product. Others claiming to be a superior
product, are guilty of making false representations and promises to produce quick and
unreasonable results. They carry the weight of empty promises and could possibly
harm the person taking the supplement with their shenanigans. This could be the
reason for the controversy surrounding HGH and its value.
The Controversy
What he said or what she said is always going to cause conflict, especially when
two or more people have different results using the same products or eating the
same foods or whatever the case maybe. There is evidence to support HGH as being
effective as an anti aging treatment. People refer to it as the infamous fountain of
youth. Nevertheless, there aren t any case studies to back this claim up. It can be
confusing and difficult to know who to believe. A good suggestion is to make sure
the product contains the critical elements of a legitimate growth hormone
The Origin Of The Word Nano
1.1 Introduction
Nanotechnology, the term derived from the Greek word nano, meaning dwarf, applies
the principles of engineering, electronics, physical and material science, and
manufacturing at a molecular or submicron level. The materials at nanoscale could be
a device or a system or supramolecular structures. Earlier Albert Franks defined it as
that area of science and technology where dimensions and tolerances are in the nano
range. Nanomaterials are the most promising tool in nanotechnology that posses very
unique size dependent properties that makes them superior and indispensable in many
areas of human activity. In recent years, synthesis and characterization of
nanoparticles have received considerable attention because of their distinctive
properties and potential uses in various fields like microelectronics, photocatalysis,
magnetic devices, biotechnology and biomedical fields. Various nanoformulations
have already been studied and applied as drug delivery systems with great success
and they still have greater potential for many applications like drugs, antibiotics,
protein delivery, imaging techniques, anti tumour therapy and as a carrier for Blood
Brain Barrier (BBB) crossing (Yezhelyev, 2006; Chen, 2013; Naahidi, 2013).
Nanoparticles provide massive advantages regarding drug targeting, controlled
release and can be combined with diagnosis and other imaging therapy, hence,
emerge as one of the major tools in nanomedicine (Shrivastav, 2013; Jain, 2012).

Freudian Defense Mechanisms
The types of things the theorists examine in a Freudian theory are structural model,
libido and Thanatos, defense mechanisms and a very controversial theory psycho
sexual stages of development. The Freudian theory is about discovering the
unconscious part of our mind. And different ways we can do so and what tests
prove that we do have a part of our brain which is the unconscious that does work.
The structural model is when Freud discovered Id, the ego and the super ego. Libido
and Thanatos is when Freud identified two instincts that were either sexual or
aggressive. Defense mechanisms are the way people deal with situations that they
feel helpless in. There is seven types of defense mechanisms that people use to deal

Freud got a lot of backlash because he related every stage to sexual content. Even
relating sex with the first stage we go through in life which is infants. Out of all
the concepts the theorists examine, I m going to focus and give examples of
defense mechanisms and their behaviors. The two Specific defense mechanism I
am going to speak about is denial and projection that my person demonstrates all
the time. With denial a person refuses to accept reality even when all the proof is
in front of them. Projection is when a person again cannot deal with reality and
their problems and will act like it is another person s problem not theirs. The
person I m going to use is a stepparent of mine. Growing up with him he
unfortunately was sick with an addiction to alcohol. He was in extreme denial about
his disease that unfortunately was hereditary. He would be extremely defensive
about his drinking. Telling my family he didn t even drink that much when we all
knew his daily intake. When the disease started to really affect his life negatively we
had a family intervention explaining the health concerns that can happen and how he
was going to lose the love ones in his
Analyzing Two Theories of Business Power
Two Theories of Business Power Introduction The Dominance and the Pluralist
Theories led to the development of socialism and liberalism respectively. The two
theories had notable differences, almost contrasting one another. For us to analyze
and contrast the two theories, it is notable to understand the fundamental perceptions
of Dominance and the Pluralism. Connolly and Connolly (2010) argue that we can
define the dominance theory as the theory of Marxist, advanced by Karl Max. This
theory has been clearly outlined in the manifesto of the communist. The theory of
dominance argues that social divisions based on class result in ruling class
community, who control all the production means. Marxism notes that if the
proletariat is abused, it favors the interests of the bourgeoisie. This is commonly
referred to as the elite theory drawn from Marxist because it suggests a
disproportionate control over a privileged minority. Nevertheless, in this case, the
control appears to be over the state mechanisms. Therefore, we can believe that the
elites only have the ability to influence but not to control the production means.
Perhaps, this could be an underlying reason why advocates of this theory are more
contented with its continued application compared to other colleagues of Marxist
(Tang, 2008). Pluralism is fundamentally a theory favoring equal distribution of
power amongst people instead of one individual holding all the power. This theory
supports having multiple institutions

navigate. Due to this it was very easy to work out where the information on their
product was stored. This information in itself consisted of a few very well done
images of their design as well as providing basic information on the product. It was
for this reason I was tempted to buy the product.

The War on Drugs is Failing
Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance... for it goes beyond
the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man s appetite by legislation and
make a crime out of things that are not a crime. A prohibition law strikes a blow at
the very principle upon which our government was founded Abraham Lincoln

The War on Drugs intends to rid America of drugs, hard and soft, just as prohibition
attempted to rid America of drink. The arguments against the War on Drugs are the
same arguments that persuaded politicians sixty years ago to end Prohibition. Just as
the movement to rid America of alcohol failed, so will the War on Drugs because
social engineering works no better today than it did then.
The War on Drugs has given birth to many of the modern day evils. The most
widespread repercussion of the War on Drugs is the crime rate. In 1990, the number
of people sent to state and federal prisons for drug offenses exceeded the number of
offenders sent to prison for violent crimes.... Drug offenders currently make up 62
percent of the federal inmate population, up from 22 percent in 1980. [3] Add to this
the fact that most of these prisoners are nonviolent offenders put there under
mandatory minimum sentencing laws and the explanation for why this country is
running out of prison space should be readily apparent.
The second most prevalent, as well as disheartening, result of this movement is the
death of innocent victims. The support for this result can be found in the obituary
section of the daily newspaper or on the five o clock news. Even the smallest of
towns have been afflicted with death due to drugs. Back alley heroin and basement lab
manufactured amphetamines present the same problem as

Usually it s a helpless, victimized, female character that ends up falling madly in
love with the hero. Kagero, a female ninja, best fits the description of this character.
Because she is a ninja, she s not as helpless as some might imagine the damsel in
distress character to be, but she is constantly victimized (helplessly raped twice by
two different enemy demons) and is saved a countless number of times by
Jubei. Sure enough, in the end, she falls in love with Jubei, the only man to ever steal
her heart.
The third main character type is the enemy . The head antagonist, usually male, is a
hideous monster in horror anime, and in action anime almost always possesses
supernatural powers. He seems much more invincible and usually batters in the
climax, but he always has a weakness for the hero to capitalize on. He is impure,
immoral, unethical and, in short, evil. His heart has no remorse for his actions and
for those suffering from them. The enemy, like the hero, is unknown to us and is
gradually introduced throughout the story. The enemy of this story is Himuro
Gemma. Gemma is a bisexual, immortal human with the ability to reincarnate
himself. In his early days, he caused Jubei and his friends to turn on each other,
forcing Jubei to kill them. He poisons an entire village, and with the help of his
henchmen, plans to take over an already dark army of ninjas.

Evolution Of Eusociality Is Based Upon A Sterile Caste
System
Evolution of eusociality is based upon a sterile caste system that consists of
workers that sacrifices their selfish needs to serve the needs of the queen. In
eusociality society, genetic relatedness is very important because it helps the genes
of the individual to be passed on to the next generation. Additionally, in eusociality
society, individual members become integrated and function has a group. In
addition, eusocial species favor their sisters over their own offspring because it
helps to increase their indirect fitness rather than focusing on their own direct
fitness by raising their own offspring. The main reason for these females tend have
a genetic relatedness of about 0.5 to her offspring, and to her sister .75. Eusociality
is also based on haplodiploidy, which result in an unfertilized egg that develops into
a male, and a fertilized egg that develop into females. Eusociality can only occur
when the relatedness and the benefit is very high. Finally, evolution of eusociality
involves division of labor, cooperativeness, and overlapping generation. 2.Page 99

What Is Machiavelli Stressed In The Prince
Outside people relations, Vlad embodied one of the most crucial principle
Machiavelli stressed in The Prince, Principle 10 How the Strength of All States
Should be Measured. Machiavelli believes that for a prince to maintain his control
over the state in times of war, he must be ready to fight for his people. Vlad went
beyond that by succeeding his predecessors through weaponizing Wallachia for battle
and personally leading the charge against neighboring states. His first hurdle was his
confrontation with Hungary where he tried to maintain a fragile peace, skillfully
balancing the interests of the Hungarian and the Ottoman Empire in Wallachia.
However...conflict broke out between Wallachia and Hungary...[eventually] Vlad

His mettle against the Hungarian proved fruitful as he secured his nation s
independence and expanded his territories. He quickly went into the extreme to
safeguard his people during his confrontation with the Turks; per usual, he took a
radical stance in the Machiavellian principle against his enemy by psychological
warfare... [the Sultan]...saw his men impaled...the Sultan...kept saying that he could
not conquer the country of a man who could do such terrible and unnatural things,
and put his power and his subjects to such use (Miller). Ironically, the Sultan s
claim proved to be Vlad s strength because he relied on his military ingenuity to
scare his opponents from touching Wallachia. His front against the Turks
established to his people his unwavering dedication to their liberty and safety. The
central concern of Vlad s actions was that in terms of pure Machiavelli, Vlad had
no evidence of following the footsteps of prior great kings and did everything
himself. Why this is an issue is because Vlad is going to every battle blind and
relying too heavily on his impromptu actions to combat the
Trainspotting Theme
Trainspotting is the title on a fantastically well made movie that s mainly about
choosing a life other than the one we are accustomed to in our daily lives. There are
many reasons on how it is similar to today s society. For example, Trainspotting deals
with being stuck between different choices. The movie shows the importance of
having right friends. Lastly, I liked the way mental illnesses are presented in
Trainspotting. .
One of the main themes of Trainspotting is making decisions. In teen and pre adult
lives, there are a lot of choices one needs to make. There could be anything from
education to relationships: in which some people have a hard time dealing with the
difficulties those choses pose. Renton, the protagonist, rants about choose life , and
he chooses heroin as a way to escape the different choices. The times he does choose
to lay off the drugs, he experiences withdrawal symptoms, like anybody else would
after quitting drugs. That s why many addict like him, try to find a way to cope

In Trainspotting one gets to follow the journey of friends who found their comfort
in drugs, alcohol or violence. As a young adult myself, I believe that many times
we tend to seek comfort in other people, and therefore many of us usually end up
choosing the same path our friends encourage us to. This could be applied to
Trainspotting. Tommy, against drugs and lies, suddenly collapses when his
girlfriend leaves and he tries to find comfort in heroin just like his friends
supposedly do. Since Tommy was already surrounded by addicts, it was easier for
him to feel pressured into doing the same

Organizational Systems And Quality Leadership Task Essay
Organizational Systems and Quality Leadership Task 3
A1. Country to Compare Healthcare is so expensive! How many times have you
heard someone in the United States of America (U.S.) say that? Is it the same in
other countries? The best way to discover this is to compare differences between the
U.S. and another country. To this end the comparison will be between the U.S. and
Great Britain (G.B.) Access to health care can sometimes be a challenge. That
challenge is even greater for people whose needs are extensive and costly or those
who have special needs and have difficulty figuring out access on their own. This
would include the unemployed, the retired and children. Improving access for these
individuals is a very necessary, ongoing activity. It will be interesting to see how the
U.S contrasts with G.B.
A2. Access
CHILDREN:
In G.B. children have full, free connection to healthcare covered by the National
Health Service (NHS). There is no charge for any healthcare services. They or their
parents can choose any hospital/medical center that they wish to go to.
In the U.S., healthcare coverage is available for children under their parent s
healthcare plan until the age of 26. If parents do not have health insurance there are
programs available to help bridge the gaps. Programs like the Children s Health
Insurance Program in some states, in other states it is included under Medicaid and
is a federal program.
UNEMPLOYED:
The unemployed have the same access to care as

Summary Of The Last Of The Mohicans
Throughout Cooper s novel the reader and Hawkeye are provided with many
oppositions and situations based on Culture, Race, and Geography that creates
many tensions throughout the novel. The Last of the Mohicans tends to be
centered on the Character Hawkeye, a pathfinder and pioneer that links the
wilderness and civilization as mediation. The text itself is driven to be a generic
paradox and an encompassing narrative, the history with romance and the
disagreement between fact and fiction. Cooper uses a blend of facts and fiction in
many scenarios. The third year of the Indian and French War The Last of The
Mohicans suppresses the boundaries or outlines that divide literature and history in
order to create a narrative of American, within which the real man can be
understood. Hawkeye, who is so to say a typical American is between the fiction
and fact boundary. He links the people and the actual events of the period of time to
fit right in to Coopers genre. The Indian Nations, Fort William Henry massacre,
Colonel Munroe, and Marquis de Montcalm are all based on fact but then Cooper
intertwines significant romance. Coopers chosen genre, historical romance, is based
on the movement between the stages of cultural development or hostile civilizations.
It allows cultural self awareness and analysis, which allows the narrative expression.
In a traditional narrative love is a quest rather than a cultural analysis. The texts
movement tracks the hero as he or she enters the unknown

Judith Francisca Baca
Judith Francisca Baca was born on September 20, 1946 in Los Angeles, California
to Valentino Marcel and Ortensia Baca. Her father, Valentino, was not in the
picture, so she was raised by her mother, grandmother, and two aunts. Coming from
a Spanish speaking family, Baca struggled in school, but maybe her struggling was a
good thing. Due to her problems with speaking, Baca s teacher made her sit at her
desk and paint, which sparked her interest in art. She attended California State
University at Northridge to obtain her bachelor s degree. Then she went back to her
high school, Bishop Alemany High School, to teach. That is where she got together
ethnically diverse students and painted a mural. Her teaching job did not last long.
Her next job was in Los Angeles in a traveling program for artists to teach at
different schools. But one even that sparked her art life was exploring the Mexican
muralist tradition. She was inspired by different books she read about them and
traveled to Mexico to take classes in mural techniques and materials. When she
returned to Los Angeles, she began her Citywide Project. She supervised and... Show

One of her most famous works is A World without Borders . It is a painting of

Some artists have created artwork that has to do with their heritage in their times.
Baca s work however not only expresses her ethnicity and background, but also has

a new direction that expresses her opinion on different matters through art. It is a

The Four Senses Of Scripture In Origen Homily 1 Summary
The Four Senses of Scripture in Origen Homily I Origen was one of the most pivotal
and important teacher and interpreter of the Catholic faith of all time. His
interpretations of Genesis I and many other homilies are still looked to today for
guidance, even though he lived in the third century. Origen has had a difficult history
with the church, from being excommunicated and pronounced a heretic, though today
the church an scholars recognize him as a very important mind in church history. If
one heard about Origens early life alone, they may not predict what he would
eventually become. He was presumably born into an Christian home in Egypt, and at
an early age his father was killed in a purge of Christians in 200 AD. Origen s
education was spotty, as he was not completely taught in school during his formative
years but he came into contact with Gnostics of the Valentinian school, Neoplatonist
worshipers, and teachings from Philo of Alexandria. Overall Origen s formative years
and early life were a rough time period for him, and the time period in which he was
raised was difficult for Christians everywhere. When Origen turned 18 years old he
became the principle of a catechetical school in Alexandria. This is when Origen
started working on First Principles, his attempt to make a presentation of what
Christians believe. In First Principles, Origen talked about the holy Trinity, the human
fall into sin, human free will, and redemption. Because of his Gnostic background

By doing this she is clearly stating that she is not willing to except the traditions of
the Americans because her people had their own. She also used writing to help
preserve the folklore of the New Mexican people for she did not want their culture
and ways of life to be forgotten. Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo was an influential man
from California who unlike Vigil y Alarid, was in support of Americans coming to
California. He thought that it would be strong, positive and economically smart to
develop unoccupied lands. But what he did not realize was that the Americans
were not interested in adapting to the culture of Mexicans. They wanted the
Mexicans to adapt to the Anglo ways of life. On June 14, 1846 a group of 35 or so
American men led by John C. Fremont invaded Sonoma expecting to go to war
with the Mexicans but found nothing but a sleeping town (Padilla, 53). Vallejo
writes Doubtless God had decreed that June 1846 was to be the blackest month of
my life (Padilla, 53). The Americans that Vallejo had befriended had turned against
him: ...who seems to have struck a bargain with the devil: he had been friendly
toward the same American immigrants who were now about to seize him as a

Did the Indian Mutiny of 1857 create the British Raj?
The Indian Rebellion of 1857, which was also called the Indian Mutiny, or the War
of Independence was a turning point in the history of Britain in India. However,
whether this lead to the formation of the British Raj, will be explicitly explored in
this essay.
The East India Company traded in cotton, silk, tea and opium. They won over
Bengal after gaining victory in the Battle of Plassey in 1757, under Robert Clive.
The East India Company functioned as the military authority in growing sections of
India, as well. By 1770, heavy taxation and other policies had left millions of

There was a great deal of racial distrust between the British and Indians living in
India at the time of the British Raj. Moreover, many Indians despised the English,
they felt that they were only concerned about their own Industrial Growth this made
them uneasy with the new Alien Rule . Many were unhappy with the rapid cultural
changes imposed by the British. They worried that Hindu and Muslim would be

there were a number of other underlying causes for the rebellion.
The Indian soldiers were believed to be under a double rule , both a military and
religious rule, which meant the two often came into conflict, causing them vast
problems. One of these problem was the cause of The Great Rebellion. The main
reason the Indian Sepoys mutinied against their British commanders was because
they had heard that the newly issued rifle cartridges were greased with pig and cow
fat, making them unacceptable for both Hindu and Muslim soldiers. This led to a
monumental outbreak, as the Muslims and

2.2.2Urban Population and Water Supply in Ethiopia
In Ethiopia 83.9 percent of the total population was found in rural areas, while the
remaining 16.1 percent lived in urban areas. Yet regional data indicate that more than
half of the population in Dire Dawa (67.5%) and Harari (50.5%) were urban
residents. In addition, the proportions of urban residents in Tigray (19.5%) and
Gambella (25.2%) regions are relatively larger than the proportion within the total
national population (CSA, 2008).
However, summary and Statistical Report of the 2007 Population and Housing
Census of Ethiopia does not show the inter censual growth rate by place of
residence. The inter censual growth rate by place of residence would have shown
urbanization and urban population increase in the three census years (1984, 1994,

and population served reaches 9,886,000.The water coverage ranges from 25% in
Harar to 96% in Amhara region. However there are discrepancies among different
documents regarding urban water coverage. For instance WSDP (2002) in Assefa

Kang s Argument Analysis
In the article, Net neutrality hits a nerve, eliciting intense reactions , Cecilia Kang
discusses how the pending repeal of Net Neutrality by the FCC and Chairman, Ajit
Pai, is adamantly contested by most of the Internet community and most
companies, big or small. To develop her argument, Kang uses a wide variety of
appeals from established and startup companies, statistics and evidence related to
the reaction to the repeal, and demonstrations on how polarizing the issue is, and
the repeal s effect on solving the problem of Internet regulation. Kang cites a
multitude of Internet based companies or organizations, such as Mozilla, Google,
Netflix, and Free Press, to demonstrate their concern and clarify their resentment of
the repeal. For instance, Google and Netflix argued that telecom companies should
not be able to split sites because that would allow them to become a sort of
gatekeeper. These responses better clarify companies concerns about the repeal and
its effect on their business, while also aiding Kang in developing her article on
explaining the concern and the response it has elicited. According to Kang,... Show

Non Violence In The Civil Rights Movement
A voice has more power than a fist. During the civil rights movement of the nineteen
fifties and nineteen sixties, African Americans were discriminated against for having
a darker completion. This segregation took place predominantly in the South, and
strict laws prevented most African Americans from living a normal life. Though
discriminated against, black Americans started a movement that mostly involved a
non violence approach for the situation. Education and respect from white Americans
were the basis of the movement. Peaceful resistance to laws positively impact a free
society, which is demonstrated through Martin Luther King Jr. and other fellow
leaders during the civil rights movement. Education was the base of protesting. As...

In the early days of SNNC nonviolent action was strictly enforced, particularly for
public demonstrations, as it was key to the movement s success (ibiblio). Using peace
instead of violence, members took remarks from white Americans. Taking its
inspiration from the Greensboro sit ins, SNCC members conducted numerous other
sit ins throughout the South to get their point spread (pbs). Even though some
students turned to Black Nationalism, due to violence that occurred in private
towards black people. Even the movement was short lived, it created the attention in
the media that Africans Americans wanted. It allowed them to be heard, with
showing their non violent approach. This movement from young African Americans
shows that they did not need to use violence to have their power be seen. Peaceful
resistance proved that Black Americans could rebel against the government without
using violence.Though not everyone agreed with these principles, it helped kick start
the civil rights movement showing that African Americans were not going to let
racist remarks tear them down. Our national government needs to focus on peaceful
protest, instead of using media to only focus on violence. There is continuing
problems with racism in the United States, and a peaceful resistance benefits the
cause to rebel. Using voices instead of fits to resist the flaws in the government is the

Abstract Various issues and in organizations, but discrimination and racism are the
ones that still continue to be prevalent (Badawi M., 2012). However, this paper
focuses on the discrimination issues, especially those of the female gender. The
problem is that female managers and supervisors are perceived more negatively than
their male counterparts due to gender stereotyping. Facts obtained regarding this
issue have been derived from the findings of research studies conducted in the past,

The Expositor s Bible Commentary
The Expositor s Bible Commentary is a multivolume work, broken up into thirteen
volumes. Each of the volumes cover a few books in the Bible, varying in exact
amounts based on book sizes. This commentary has two main editors, Tremper
Longman III and David Garland. In Volume 9, which consists of commentary on the
Gospels of Matthew and Mark, three other people helped to contribute. D.A. Carson
helped with the Matthew section while Walter W. Wessel and Mark L. Strauss
helped with the Mark section. The beginning of each of the volumes consist of the
volume s contributors, a preface, and abbreviations. The abbreviations consist of
various Bible texts and versions, books of the bible, Dead Sea Scrolls and other
related texts, ancient texts, journals, periodicals, reference works, and series. These
abbreviates are necessary for the commentary as the authors reference various works
to get their points across. After the acknowledgements, discussion about the books of
the Bible begins. Each section starts off with an introduction, where the author
discusses various components, which can differ depending on the points the authors
are trying to get across. For example, the introduction of Matthew has 14 parts, which
include criticisms of Matthew, unity, authorship, and canonicity, while the
introduction of Mark has 9 parts, which are similar to Matthew s with things such as
dates and authorship, but differs by including things such as the place of Mark s
gospeland literary features.
Theme Of The One That Got Away
One of the fundamental themes in ZoГ« Wicomb s collection of short stories, The
One that Got Away, and that which this essay focuses on, is identity. Wicomb s short
stories are interwoven with political percepts, history and semiotics linking her two
homes, Glasgow and Cape Town, as well as the different stories, together through a
extensive network of interconnected identities and settings (Driver 145). By the
juxtaposing of settings in a single period of time, Wicomb creates a unique social and
domestic backdrop that reveals elements of the characters identity, and, inadvertently,
elements of her own life. Wicomb strategically makes use of historical and cultural
references to produce intra textual significance to allow the reader to engage in the
text and deconstruct conventionalized ideas and notions (Driver 146).... Show more

different spaces that are loaded with politics and history (Driver
Descriptive Essay About Father
A warm smile and kind eyes is what attributes to a man, known as my father. He
works hard and is diligent, but what defines him is the kindness that is always
visible within him. My father, Ben Morgan, is forty eight with light brown hair, and
turquoise eyes that always have a sense purpose in them. From years of thinking, he
has lines that rest by his eyes accompanied by the usual lines that encircle a smile he
shows to all. My father has a kindness in him, in which no one in our familyhas. A
few examples are: helping strangers in need, doing charityevents, and putting his
family above all else.
In particular, what makes my father have this kindness is he assists strangers in
need. To explain, one day we were driving to a Lowes near our house, I had not
noticed, but apparently two older ladies were walking in the opposite direction and
one of them had fallen. My father had seen this and when it was safe to do so had
turned around in the silver dodge ram truck he was driving. Once he caught up to
them he had offered a ride to them, and it had turned out one of the woman had a
medical condition that was affecting her there and then. Thankfully it was not too
serious, but it had prevented her from walking normally. Once we reached their
destination, they thanked my father and praised him. While helping the two older
ladies may be seen as a task anyone would do, no one else had stopped, pulled over,
and offered assistance to the two older ladies. In today s world it is very
Offenders Of Sexual Victimization
As technology evolves daily, offenders of sexual victimization will use this outlet to
continue victimization. The internet is easily accessible and is used frequently by
numerous people. When one is on the internet they are able to hide behind a
computer screen. One way these offenders have used the internetfor sexual
victimization is creating create fake social media accounts where they pose as
someone else. Although social media is intended to be a place to connect with friends
and family, some have abused these websites and have become online predators.
Offenders can target a victim by first following their profile, commenting on pictures,

One of the most recently crises of P amp;G was in 2000. The crisis forced the CEO
of that time, Durk Jager to resign. With the implement of new business strategies,
the P amp;G has finally come back to the right track of development. Therefore, the
analysis of the success of P amp;G in the tough time is rather useful. In 1987, P

centre in Guangzhou. The first China research centre attracted elites from Japan,
Philippine, India, and American and so on. In 1998, P amp;G opened its second

A Short History of Progress
The term, progress, is synonymous with phrases that denote moving forward, growth,
and advancement. It seems unorthodox then that Ronald Wright asserts the world
has fallen into a progress trap, a paradox to how progress is typically portrayed as it
contradicts the conventional way life is viewed: as being a natural progression from
the outdated and tried towards the new and improved. Wright posits that it is the
world s relentless creation of innovative methods that ironically contributes to the
progress trap rather than to progress itself, the intended objective. Wright s coinage of
the term progress trap refers to the phenomenon of innovations that create new
complications that are typically left without resolve which exacerbate... Show more

The humans living in that period were unable to supplement their previous diet,
which was rich in protein, and their culture was devastated as a result; this then, is
an example of progress (better hunting methods) that led to the failure of an entire
culture as its problems were left unsolved. In his third chapter, Wright examines two
particular civilizations that thrived but eventually declined due to resource depletion.
What is interesting is the similarities that can be drawn from the examples of Easter
Island and Sumer, like the widespread ignorance of the masses to actively prevent
the abrasion of their land, the perpetual idleness of people to not do anything even
when there was enough time to stop the tragic collapse, to current day situations of
people who even flat out deny climate change and claim it to be part of the left wing
agenda. On Easter Island, it was over logging that led to their collapse, since as their
ecosystem withered away, logging became scarce, and wars broke out for those
sparse resources. In Sumer similar environmental destruction occurred (i.e.
overgrazing, land clearing), which should alarm the world population of today of
what may become of the high levels
Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 Dead Men Tell No Tales
Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales is most likely going to be the
last movie in the whole franchise. Which is why Johnny Depp, reprising his role
as Jack Sparrow, is going to be an emotional roller coaster. Not only is Pirates of the
Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales the last of the Pirates movies, it is also a
memorable one for Depp. One time, Depp s conversation with director Jerry
Bruckheimer notes a collaboration with Jeff Nathanson for the movie. Depp
explains, during an interview with Inquirer, that everyone s involvement on the
script wants it to be right and perfect. He teases that, in Pirates of the Caribbean 5:

Treatment Options For Schizophreni Symptoms And

Treatment
Through time, scientists and doctors have created various treatment options for
schizophrenia based off scientific theories in their time. At one point physicians
would perform brain surgery to remove a portion of brain from an individual
suffering with schizophrenia that was responsible for the hallucinations and
delusions the individual would experience. Although the surgery might have
decreased the amount of hallucinations and delusions experienced by the individual,
it led to cognitive and emotional deficits that would impair the individual (Nolen
Hoeksema, 2014).

Later, other classes of typical antipsychotic drugs were used for treatment of
schizophrenia, such as butyrophenones and thioxanthones. These drugs were
effective methods that transformed the treatment of schizophrenia and decreased the
number of hospitalized individuals suffering from the disorder by half. However,
twenty five percent of those suffering from the disorder were unresponsive to the
antipsychotic drugs (Adams, C. E., Awad, G. A., Rathbone, J., Thornley, B., Soares
Weiser, K., 2014). The typical antipsychotic drugs worked best at treating the positive
symptoms of schizophrenia but did nothing to treat the negative symptoms of the
disorder (which are the lack of motivation and deficit in interpersonal skills). If
individuals with schizophrenia discontinue the medication, a total of seventy eight
percent will relapse within a year and ninety six percent within two years (Gitlin, M.,
Nuechterlein, K., Subotnik, K. L., Ventura, J., Mintz, J., Fogelson, D. L., . . .

would cause many individuals to discontinue their use (Nolen Hoeksema, 2014). Side
effects include grogginess, dry mouth, weight

The Butterfly Sisters Essay
The main themes of this book is not to far from the reality of every persons life.
Not everyone has to live in a tyranny and fight for freedom to live but the fact is you
still need to fight for something. Life is filled with struggles and that goes to different
extents for different people. For the sisters in, In The Time of The Butterflies they
had to go through an extreme part of their lives together and ended up not coming out
the same. They were dependent on each other yet they were independent at the same
time. The main theme I picked up from this book was the faith they had. The faith
they had with each other, the faith they had to survive but most importantly the faith
they had for themselves. They had faith as independent woman... Show more content

Minerva goes from need for her parents approval and dependence on their value
system to being an independent person. This is why liked Minerva the most
because she showed more faith in her self and being independent then her sisters
did. She was strong minded and no one could take that away from her. At school,
Minerva experiences what truly makes her into a woman. Till then she believes in
the propaganda that Trujillo and his administration have spread. Her friend Sinita
tells Minerva a story of Trujillo s evil when they whispered under the blankets late
one night. Minerva says to Sinita, quot; Bad things?...Trujillo was doing bad
things? It was as if I had just heard Jesus had slapped a baby quot; (17). Although
Minerva does not fully accept the image of Trujillo as a tyrant she shows faith in
her friend. It is hard for her to accept it but she understands it. When Trujillo
seduces a classmate named Lina, she comes to realize his corruption. This is were
the theme of faith becomes so important. It changes from the perception of a child
that everything in the world is good and having faith for whoever has power over
you is right. When she realizes that this is not the case she has grown up into a
independent adult. This growth happened so quickly but it is so important to her
future faith in the world. Here Minerva is in a position from which she may step
into her new role as a rebel.
As Minerva grows

Persuasive Essay On A Healthy Diet
When it comes to picking a diet, there are 150 to choose from. So how do you
know which ones to choose? Well, pick one that is healthy and won t harm your
body, one that works well and can make you feel better about your self boost your
self esteem. Some people start to go on a diet because they think that all their
problems in their lives are about their weight. Others believe that it s an area of
their life that they can t control, they go on a diet so they can focus on something
that they can control their exercise and food intake. Some main diets that you
might hear are being a vegetarian and paleolithic. There are plenty of others, but
there is a diagnosis that is beginning to come around, which is being gluten free. A
vegetarian diet consists of only: vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to a certain
limit. When going on this diet, it excludes eating all meats. They don t believe in
the killing of animals and then eating them. A theory that most people have is they
can cook a healthy, meat free that supports weight loss and reduces the risk of
heart disease (Vegetarian Diet). Being a vegetarian, you can lose the daily needs
of your body, like the protein, but some grocery stores have soy burgers and fake
meat so that kind of diet can stay healthy. When purchasing these items, it can be a
bit overpriced. When looking for a source of protein, go towards eggs. They are a
good way to save money instead of buying pounds of meat. When looking for
grains, beans, and rice, being a vegetarian is the way to go (Vegetarian Diet). If
you keep eating fruits, veggies, and grains, they will make your body feel full of
fewer calories. When considering weight loss, it is likely to lose weight because
of the fewer calories and the body mass isn t high enough. When it comes to
preparing the food, there will always be a tasteful recipe on the internet that will
give you energy for the day and can cover your snacking habits (Vegetarian Diet).
Next is being a paleolithic. The aim of a paleo diet is to return to a way of eating
that s more like what early humans ate. MEAT! When following this diet, the main
goal is to lose weight, and they can sometimes have trouble planning their meal plans.

Solar Cost Of Solar Energy
Studies have shown that 88% of americans believe in good environmental impact
on the earth. However, 52% of the surveyed believe that government subsidization
will help protect environmental services such as selling organic food or using
solar panels for energy instead of electricity (Franchise Help). Solar energy is
being adopted by businesses like Target who operates over ten projects to conserve
energy and reduce waste. The solar program of Target has generated over 15 30%
of the power in their stores and plan to have an estimate of five hundred roof top
panels by the year 2020 (Target). Although solar energy is expensive and risky, in
fact businesses going solar will save money and increase media response. Solar
expenses depend on the quality of the panels which have been built in all shapes
and sizes. These Solar panels are not only accessible to companies and science labs
alone, but for regular citizens to connect to their inner green selves. However, the
amount of willingness to pay depends on the quality of panels you want, crystalline
siliconcomes in various forms from monocrystalline to polysilicon panels.
Monocrystalline panels are the most expensive panel but top grade silicon that is
highly efficient rate of 15 20% (Maehlum). While the average cost of solar panels
alone range from $15,000 40,000 depending on size and watt usage of 3 8kW. Cost
for Storage batteries though are on a spectrum from $340 to over 20,000, storage isn

Human Trafficking Must Be Defined As The Illegal
Movement...
I picked this topic because human trafficking goes unnoticed and is a topic that gets
over looked. As we know in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed the
Emancipation Proclamation abolishing slavery, yet more than one million people are
enslaved in the U.S. today. Human trafficking involves different ages, gender, ethnic
backgrounds, and they are being trafficked throughout the world. At the end I hope to
inform my peers about the reality and danger of human trafficking, as well share the
solutions that we can do to help or avoid such a dangerous situation.
Nature of the Problem According to the Oxford Dictionary human trafficking can
be defined as the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced
labor or commercial sexual exploitation. Every year, millions of men, women, and
children are trafficked in countries around the world, including the United States. It
is estimated that human trafficking generates 32 billion of dollars of profit per year
(Homeland Security, n.d. para. 2). The largest groups of at risk children are runaway,
thrown away, or homeless American children who use survival sex to acquire food,
shelter, clothing, and other things needed to survive on America s streets. According
to the National Runaway Switchboard 1.3 million runaway and homeless youth live
on America s streets every day, which 5,000 die each year (Child Trafficking
Statistics, n.d. para. 8). Many youth, especially the children in human trafficking run
away from
William Damon s The Death Of Honesty
William Damon s The Death of Honesty presents a solemn analysis of the decline
of modern virtue due to a dysfunctional tipping point where honesty is no longer
viewed as a moral characteristic worthy of pursuing. Dishonesty is presented as
both a virtue and a vice that is shaping our contemporary society. The Hoover
Institution of Stanford University published Mr. Damon s article in 2012 under the
Task Force on the Virtues of a Free Society, which would provide a target audience
of students, educators, parents or anyone with an interest in sociology, specifically in
the United States. A rhetorical analysis recognizes the appeals of ethos and pathos as
successful tools in creating a connection with the readers, yet it exposes flaws in the
author s appeal of logic. The lack of developed logic does not support his thesis that
sustained civilization is in lethal danger as a result of dishonesty alone.
The appeal of ethos is based on personal and academic achievement. As a senior
fellow and professor of Stanford University with a background in child development
and psychology, Mr. Damon has the experience to write on the subject of character
development of children, as well as the failings of the academic world. Writing in the
online volume of Stanford University s Endangered Virtues further validates the
author s authority to speak on the subject. As a father, Mr. Damon would have a
vested interest in the ability of the school system to influence his children.
Rudolf Diesel And The Invention Of The Diesel Engine
Rudolf Diesel is an infamous German innovator, mainly known for the invention of
the Diesel engine, which was named after him. However, Rudolf was not actually
born in Germany but in Paris, France on March 18th, 1858 and was the second of
three children. His parents emigrated from Bavaria to become leather goods
manufacturers; their drive and creativity would ultimately spark Rudolf s passion
for inventing. The Diesel family was forced to move out of Paris due to the Franco
Prussian war in 1870. While the Diesel family settled in England, Rudolf s parents
figured it would be best to send Rudolf to Germany with his aunt and uncle so he
could attend a private school where his uncle taught mathematics. Rudolf
demonstrated an inquisitive nature and thirst for knowledge from an early age,
however his parents did not encourage this. They would much rather see Rudolf dive
into the work force rather than pursuing an education. After finishing his basic
education at the top of the class, Rudolf applied and was accepted into the Industrial
School of Augsburg with a scholarship (Bellis, 2015).
After graduating in 1880 and with a few years of work experience under his belt, he
began to develop a steam engine using ammonia vapour. The results of this
experiment were disastrous as during testing the engine exploded and nearly killed
him. In 1893, Rudolf published a paper with designs of an engine based on the
Carnot cycle; this created the foundation for the Diesel engine. Throughout

Essay On Jamestown. Jamestown essay paper

  • 1. Essay On Jamestown Crafting an essay on the topic of Jamestown poses a unique set of challenges that require a careful balance of historical research, critical analysis, and effective storytelling. The task is not merely about presenting a chronological account of events but also delving into the complexities of the Jamestown settlement – the struggles, triumphs, and the broader historical context. Firstly, delving into the historical background demands extensive research to provide a comprehensive overview. This includes understanding the socio-political climate of the time, the motivations behind the establishment of Jamestown, and the early interactions between the settlers and the indigenous people. Navigating through various primary and secondary sources can be both time-consuming and intellectually demanding. Analyzing the significance of Jamestown in the broader context of American history is another layer of complexity. It involves evaluating the lasting impact of the settlement on subsequent events, such as its role in shaping colonial America and its contributions to the formation of the United States. This requires a deep understanding of historical causation and the ability to draw connections between seemingly disparate events. Furthermore, the essay should engage the reader by presenting the information in a coherent and compelling narrative. Balancing factual accuracy with an engaging writing style is a delicate task, as the aim is not just to convey information but also to evoke the reader's interest and understanding. In conclusion, writing an essay on Jamestown requires a multifaceted approach that involves meticulous research, critical analysis, and effective storytelling. It demands a commitment to accuracy and an ability to weave together historical facts into a cohesive narrative. Successfully navigating these challenges can lead to a rich and insightful exploration of the historical significance of Jamestown. • 2. The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 ) The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative methods for satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including the use of individual graduation committees. This bill gives students a better chance at graduating, although it may or not be continued results of this bill will have to be processed first. I chose this bill because I believed that it would be well known also, because it is important to school life which has taken a big turn in recent years. Educationhas taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit the sudden drop in funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive branch due to withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and what requirements for Individual Graduation committees (IGC). One of the effects of SB 149 is, The law requires school districts and open enrollment charter schools to have IGCs for any eleventh or twelfth grade studentwho has not passed two out of the five end of the course (EOC) exams at or the end of the eleventh grade s year (Seliger). IGCs need the principal, the teacher of the relevant course; the department chair or lead teacher supervising the teacher of the relevant course; and either the student s parent/guardian, or the student if the student is at least 18 years of age or is an emancipated minor (Seliger). This is a pretty basic requirementthat I believe most organizations involving students would have
  • 3. Portland Trail Blazers How things have changed in Portland It s amazing how many things can change over the course of a few weeks. About a month ago, the Portland Trail Blazers had one of the best starting lineups in the league. They were young and rising and a perennial playoff team. Fast forward a month and the Trail Blazers are without four of their five starting players. Nicolas Batum, Wesley Matthews, Robin Lopez, and LaMarcus Aldridge are no longer with the team. Nicolas Batum (small forward) is the only player out of the group that was actually traded. On June 24th, the Trail Blazers traded him to the Charlotte Hornets for Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh. Without Batum, the Trailblazers lack a defensive wing and a corner three point shooter. Batum was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Matthews was a great three point shooter and defender, similar to Batum. If he was healthy, the Blazers could have won their first round series and maybe the team would still be intact and we would be having a different conversation. Nonetheless, Matthews will be sorely missed, particularly by their point guard Damian Lillard. Robin Lopez (center) just recently signed with the New York Knicks, leaving the team without its top interior defender. Robin Lopez is the most replaceable out of the group, however, he was a great contributor to this team. He rebounded well for them last season and played great defense, but the Blazers can still find a replacement. Finally, the player that changed the culture completely is their former All Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge. LaMarcus has been an important part of the Blazers since he joined the team in 2006. He became the franchise player several years later and improved every season. During this past season, he averaged a career high in ppg at 23.4 points per game. He s been the heart and soul and number one scoring option for the Blazers and they re going to sorely miss him. LaMarcus Aldridge bolted for the San Antonio Spurs this past weekend. Without Aldridge they lose a quarter of their offense and will struggle against the other dominant power forwards in the Western
  • 4. Nicaragua Rebellion Case Study Nicaragua RebellionThis was a political event because it caused discussion in the government. America wanted to help Nicaragua rebel against their communist government. Nicaragua people rebelled. The United States sent aid in ways that would be hidden. The US banned helping them, so Reagan needed private donations.Ronald Reagan was investigated for the Iran Contra Affair. Tax Reform BillThis was an economic event because it caused the economy to change. Reagan wanted to give Americans tax cuts to improve the market and help America. Part 2: Answer the following questions in a complete paragraph of your own words. 1.Do you think President Ronald Reagan s policies had a positive or negative effect on the country overall? Explain your response. I think President Ronald Reagan s polices had a very positive effect on the United States. He helped get America back on track during a very rough time. This was a difficult task, but he was able to make it happen. Ronald Reagan tried multiple tactics such as task cuts to improve the economy. Overtime it naturally fixed itself. He also was involved in foreign affairs. Keeping world peace is necessary and preventing another World War is always a plus. Ronald Reagan was a very good president in my opinion. 2.What do you think was the most significant event of the 1980s and
  • 5. Effects Of Falling Gas Prices On Operation Management... The Effects of Falling Gas Prices on Operation Management Decision Making Dylan Knight Robert Morris University Abstract This paper briefly takes a look at how the price of gas has changed over the past ten years and what has caused the drop in fuel prices within the past few years. It then looks at the fuel price s effect on business operation through the eyes of the Operations Manager and the key aspects in decision making that they have to consider when the gas prices fall, like they have recently. I then give you an idea of how the falling prices effect the Apartment Management industry and the operations involved in renting and renovating apartments. Falling Gas Prices Effect on Operations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The one downfall of the increased production here in the United States is the drilling has slowed down drastically leaving many oil workers without a job and forcing some companies out of business. (Krauss) Another cause of the gas prices dropping, according to an article on CNN, is the economic slowdown of the Chinese economy. They also mentioned the increased production in the United States and finally the tentative nuclear deal which would make their oil more readily available to our country. In the article they also predicted that by the time football season came around that tens of thousands of gas stations across the country will be below the $2 a gallon mark. (Isidore) Even though we have seen it come close here in Pennsylvania, it has not gone below $2 here in the greater Pittsburgh area. A few times that I have been home in Ohio I have seen it drop below $2 but it ultimately just depends on which area you are in. With winter quickly approaching gas prices are expected to continue to drop as stations mix a less expensive blend of gas for the winter months. (Isidore) So it is a possibility that we could see prices here in the Pittsburgh area fall to the $2 a gallon area. If I were placed as the Operations Manager in any industry gas prices play a huge factor in business and
  • 6. Porphyria s Lover Comparison In Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s lover, the narrator killed his lover to remain in his love forever. There are two main characters in this poem: the female character, Porphyria, and her lover. Her lover is low class while Porphyria comes from a decent family. Because of this difference of social class, Porphyria could not give up her, everything for her love; however, she came to see her lover one night and confessed her love to him. Then, he killed her strangling her throat by her hair in order to last her love to him forever. And he confessed his love toward her holding her dead body all over the night. The poem was written in Victorian Era which was the age of transition from traditional society to modern society. There still existed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In both poems, two male characters fall in love with a beautiful woman and get heartburn become lovesick. However, while a male character in Porphyria s lover turns his love toward Porphyria out to be lunatic and psychotic, a male character in To idealizes Jane as an unreachable being and shows his love in a platonic and sublime way. In both poems, female characters are beautiful and attractive, so male characters are captivated by their beauty and hunger for their affection throughout the poem. Furthermore, both male characters have a critical obstacle to achieve their love difference of social status and marriage status. In Browning s poem, male character is from low class while his lover Porphyria is from decent family. In Victorian Era, social class still existed and it determined almost everything, even one s marriage. In addition, women s right was not equally treated as men s at that time, so dominant violence toward women was frequent. In this reason, although the male character excuses he killed his lover in order to keep her love to him forever, it seems that he projects his anger or madness at discrimination caused by social class as he killed his aristocratic lover. On the other hand, in Shelley s poem, the male character, actually Shelley himself, idolizes her lover as a divine figure. In fact, Jane is a married woman, so it might be impossible to accept his love. Thus, as he portrays her as an unreachable being, he might comfort himself her rejection to his love. While male character in Browning s poem chooses a very radical and violent way to keep his love, one in Shelley s poem chooses romantic but somewhat passive way to keep his love. However, as both male characters show their true or unrefined feeling and love toward their lovers, these works represent one of the good examples in English Romantic

Indian Society Forms And Interesting Study Though in India majority of population has a brown skin tone (categorized as Malay) The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay Gould, pg 402, 1996 (owing to its location in the tropical zone where one s skin is exposed to extensive sunlight) and historical evidence states that brown colour has been rated lower in the sociological strata. Also, going back to the colonial days when Indians were racially discriminated by the British so much that they were even barred entry at a few public places exclusively reserved for white skinned people. And yet, Indian people themselves have been time and again accused for their racist temperament. (http://ibnlive.in.com /news/ipl controversies racism row srk boycotts matches/65767 5 22.html) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2)Social implication of this fetish 3)Commercial implications and cashing on this fixation. Historical Background The worship of white complexion and projection of the ideal beauty as fair skinned is not a new concept if we try to track it down he history lane. In fact, this concept has engrained in our physc by our culture from the ancient times. The Varna system of Social classification When Aryans (natives of Arctic and hence fair skinned) invaded the Indus Valley, they drove the darker skinned inhabitants down south. The ones who remained were called as das and made to do subjugated jobs as labourers, cleaners and even undertakers. Hence in the social classification, they were allotted the lowest rung. As time progressed and with continuous labour in the sun, the das came to be associated with dark colour and simultaneously fair colour started to be associated with affluence and aristocracy. Hence, the social classification, the caste system was very aptly called as the Varna system, Varna meaning colour . Mythology If one observes ancient Indian texts on mythology and related epics, it is easy to observe a very common pattern. Almost in all Indian texts the hero of the epic who mostly is from a noble family is endowed with radiant fair skin , the likes of sun and the diabolic
  • 8. Human Growth Hormones In Children Human growth hormones. What is really know about them? The average person probably never give human growth hormones a second thought. Accordingly, they are what help children to grow. The internal workings are developing to be viable and healthy organs. By the time a child reaches puberty, the production of HGH comes to a peak. It s not until he or she turns a quarter century that the HGH levels winds up being at or around 600ug. This number greatly decreases to equal less than 20% of that 600ug. On the other hand, if a child or baby has low levels of Somatropin or somatotropin (GH or HGH), he or she may not develop at the same pace as other children with high levels of HGH. HGH affects the child s growth. The child would end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Know that there are countless imitators manufacturing faux products and claiming to be the original human growth hormone, however, nothing compares to an authentic and reputable brand of this unbelievable product. Others claiming to be a superior product, are guilty of making false representations and promises to produce quick and unreasonable results. They carry the weight of empty promises and could possibly harm the person taking the supplement with their shenanigans. This could be the reason for the controversy surrounding HGH and its value. The Controversy What he said or what she said is always going to cause conflict, especially when two or more people have different results using the same products or eating the same foods or whatever the case maybe. There is evidence to support HGH as being effective as an anti aging treatment. People refer to it as the infamous fountain of youth. Nevertheless, there aren t any case studies to back this claim up. It can be confusing and difficult to know who to believe. A good suggestion is to make sure the product contains the critical elements of a legitimate growth hormone
  • 9. The Origin Of The Word Nano 1.1 Introduction Nanotechnology, the term derived from the Greek word nano, meaning dwarf, applies the principles of engineering, electronics, physical and material science, and manufacturing at a molecular or submicron level. The materials at nanoscale could be a device or a system or supramolecular structures. Earlier Albert Franks defined it as that area of science and technology where dimensions and tolerances are in the nano range. Nanomaterials are the most promising tool in nanotechnology that posses very unique size dependent properties that makes them superior and indispensable in many areas of human activity. In recent years, synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles have received considerable attention because of their distinctive properties and potential uses in various fields like microelectronics, photocatalysis, magnetic devices, biotechnology and biomedical fields. Various nanoformulations have already been studied and applied as drug delivery systems with great success and they still have greater potential for many applications like drugs, antibiotics, protein delivery, imaging techniques, anti tumour therapy and as a carrier for Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) crossing (Yezhelyev, 2006; Chen, 2013; Naahidi, 2013). Nanoparticles provide massive advantages regarding drug targeting, controlled release and can be combined with diagnosis and other imaging therapy, hence, emerge as one of the major tools in nanomedicine (Shrivastav, 2013; Jain, 2012). 1.2

Freudian Defense Mechanisms The types of things the theorists examine in a Freudian theory are structural model, libido and Thanatos, defense mechanisms and a very controversial theory psycho sexual stages of development. The Freudian theory is about discovering the unconscious part of our mind. And different ways we can do so and what tests prove that we do have a part of our brain which is the unconscious that does work. The structural model is when Freud discovered Id, the ego and the super ego. Libido and Thanatos is when Freud identified two instincts that were either sexual or aggressive. Out of all the concepts the theorists examine, I m going to focus and give examples of defense mechanisms and their behaviors. The two Specific defense mechanism I am going to speak about is denial and projection that my person demonstrates all the time. With denial a person refuses to accept reality even when all the proof is in front of them. Projection is when a person again cannot deal with reality and their problems and will act like it is another person s problem not theirs. The person I m going to use is a stepparent of mine. Growing up with him he unfortunately was sick with an addiction to alcohol. He was in extreme denial about his disease that unfortunately was hereditary. • 11. Analyzing Two Theories of Business Power Two Theories of Business Power Introduction The Dominance and the Pluralist Theories led to the development of socialism and liberalism respectively. The two theories had notable differences, almost contrasting one another. For us to analyze and contrast the two theories, it is notable to understand the fundamental perceptions of Dominance and the Pluralism. Connolly and Connolly (2010) argue that we can define the dominance theory as the theory of Marxist, advanced by Karl Max. This theory has been clearly outlined in the manifesto of the communist. The theory of dominance argues that social divisions based on class result in ruling class community, who control all the production means. Marxism notes that if the proletariat is abused, it favors the interests of the bourgeoisie. This is commonly referred to as the elite theory drawn from Marxist because it suggests a disproportionate control over a privileged minority. Nevertheless, in this case, the control appears to be over the state mechanisms. Therefore, we can believe that the elites only have the ability to influence but not to control the production means. Perhaps, this could be an underlying reason why advocates of this theory are more contented with its continued application compared to other colleagues of Marxist (Tang, 2008). Pluralism is fundamentally a theory favoring equal distribution of power amongst people instead of one individual holding all the power. This theory supports having multiple institutions

The War on Drugs has given birth to many of the modern day evils. The most widespread repercussion of the War on Drugs is the crime rate. Sure enough, in the end, she falls in love with Jubei, the only man to ever steal her heart. The third main character type is the enemy . The head antagonist, usually male, is a hideous monster in horror anime, and in action anime almost always possesses supernatural powers. He seems much more invincible and usually batters in the climax, but he always has a weakness for the hero to capitalize on. He is impure, immoral, unethical and, in short, evil. His heart has no remorse for his actions and for those suffering from them. The enemy, like the hero, is unknown to us and is gradually introduced throughout the story. How many times have you heard someone in the United States of America (U.S.) say that? Is it the same in other countries? The best way to discover this is to compare differences between the U.S. and another country. To this end the comparison will be between the U.S. and Great Britain (G.B.) Access to health care can sometimes be a challenge. That challenge is even greater for people whose needs are extensive and costly or those who have special needs and have difficulty figuring out access on their own. The Last of the Mohicans tends to be centered on the Character Hawkeye, a pathfinder and pioneer that links the wilderness and civilization as mediation. The text itself is driven to be a generic paradox and an encompassing narrative, the history with romance and the disagreement between fact and fiction. Cooper uses a blend of facts and fiction in many scenarios. The third year of the Indian and French War The Last of The Mohicans suppresses the boundaries or outlines that divide literature and history in order to create a narrative of American, within which the real man can be understood. Hawkeye, who is so to say a typical American is between the fiction and fact boundary. He links the people and the actual events of the period of time to fit right in to Coopers genre. The Indian Nations, Fort William Henry massacre, Colonel Munroe, and Marquis de Montcalm are all based on fact but then Cooper intertwines significant romance. Origen has had a difficult history with the church, from being excommunicated and pronounced a heretic, though today the church an scholars recognize him as a very important mind in church history. If one heard about Origens early life alone, they may not predict what he would eventually become. He was presumably born into an Christian home in Egypt, and at an early age his father was killed in a purge of Christians in 200 AD. Origen s education was spotty, as he was not completely taught in school during his formative years but he came into contact with Gnostics of the Valentinian school, Neoplatonist worshipers, and teachings from Philo of Alexandria. Overall Origen s formative years and early life were a rough time period for him, and the time period in which he was raised was difficult for Christians everywhere. The main reason the Indian Sepoys mutinied against their British commanders was because they had heard that the newly issued rifle cartridges were greased with pig and cow fat, making them unacceptable for both Hindu and Muslim soldiers. This led to a monumental outbreak, as the Muslims and

To develop her argument, Kang uses a wide variety of appeals from established and startup companies, statistics and evidence related to the reaction to the repeal, and demonstrations on how polarizing the issue is, and the repeal s effect on solving the problem of Internet regulation. Kang cites a multitude of Internet based companies or organizations, such as Mozilla, Google, Netflix, and Free Press, to demonstrate their concern and clarify their resentment of the repeal. For instance, Google and Netflix argued that telecom companies should not be able to split sites because that would allow them to become a sort of gatekeeper. Though discriminated against, black Americans started a movement that mostly involved a non violence approach for the situation. Wright posits that it is the world s relentless creation of innovative methods that ironically contributes to the progress trap rather than to progress itself, the intended objective. In his third chapter, Wright examines two particular civilizations that thrived but eventually declined due to resource depletion. What is interesting is the similarities that can be drawn from the examples of Easter Island and Sumer, like the widespread ignorance of the masses to actively prevent the abrasion of their land, the perpetual idleness of people to not do anything even when there was enough time to stop the tragic collapse, to current day situations of people who even flat out deny climate change and claim it to be part of the left wing agenda. On Easter Island, it was over logging that led to their collapse, since as their ecosystem withered away, logging became scarce, and wars broke out for those sparse resources. • 54. Human Trafficking Must Be Defined As The Illegal Movement... I picked this topic because human trafficking goes unnoticed and is a topic that gets over looked. As we know in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation abolishing slavery, yet more than one million people are enslaved in the U.S. today. Human trafficking involves different ages, gender, ethnic backgrounds, and they are being trafficked throughout the world. At the end I hope to inform my peers about the reality and danger of human trafficking, as well share the solutions that we can do to help or avoid such a dangerous situation. Nature of the Problem According to the Oxford Dictionary human trafficking can be defined as the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked in countries around the world, including the United States. It is estimated that human trafficking generates 32 billion of dollars of profit per year (Homeland Security, n.d. para. 2). The largest groups of at risk children are runaway, thrown away, or homeless American children who use survival sex to acquire food, shelter, clothing, and other things needed to survive on America s streets. According to the National Runaway Switchboard 1.3 million runaway and homeless youth live on America s streets every day, which 5,000 die each year (Child Trafficking Statistics, n.d. para. 8). Many youth, especially the children in human trafficking run away from
  • 55. William Damon s The Death Of Honesty William Damon s The Death of Honesty presents a solemn analysis of the decline of modern virtue due to a dysfunctional tipping point where honesty is no longer viewed as a moral characteristic worthy of pursuing. Dishonesty is presented as both a virtue and a vice that is shaping our contemporary society. The Hoover Institution of Stanford University published Mr. Damon s article in 2012 under the Task Force on the Virtues of a Free Society, which would provide a target audience of students, educators, parents or anyone with an interest in sociology, specifically in the United States. A rhetorical analysis recognizes the appeals of ethos and pathos as successful tools in creating a connection with the readers, yet it exposes flaws in the author s appeal of logic. The lack of developed logic does not support his thesis that sustained civilization is in lethal danger as a result of dishonesty alone. The appeal of ethos is based on personal and academic achievement. As a senior fellow and professor of Stanford University with a background in child development and psychology, Mr. Damon has the experience to write on the subject of character development of children, as well as the failings of the academic world. Writing in the online volume of Stanford University s Endangered Virtues further validates the author s authority to speak on the subject. As a father, Mr. Damon would have a vested interest in the ability of the school system to influence his children.
  • 56. Rudolf Diesel And The Invention Of The Diesel Engine Rudolf Diesel is an infamous German innovator, mainly known for the invention of the Diesel engine, which was named after him. However, Rudolf was not actually born in Germany but in Paris, France on March 18th, 1858 and was the second of three children. His parents emigrated from Bavaria to become leather goods manufacturers; their drive and creativity would ultimately spark Rudolf s passion for inventing. The Diesel family was forced to move out of Paris due to the Franco Prussian war in 1870. While the Diesel family settled in England, Rudolf s parents figured it would be best to send Rudolf to Germany with his aunt and uncle so he could attend a private school where his uncle taught mathematics. Rudolf demonstrated an inquisitive nature and thirst for knowledge from an early age, however his parents did not encourage this. They would much rather see Rudolf dive into the work force rather than pursuing an education. After finishing his basic education at the top of the class, Rudolf applied and was accepted into the Industrial School of Augsburg with a scholarship (Bellis, 2015). After graduating in 1880 and with a few years of work experience under his belt, he began to develop a steam engine using ammonia vapour. The results of this experiment were disastrous as during testing the engine exploded and nearly killed him. In 1893, Rudolf published a paper with designs of an engine based on the Carnot cycle; this created the foundation for the Diesel engine. Throughout
