3. Situation
La Rioja is a medium sized region set in the Valley of El
Ebro and it is part of the small group of Spain's most
prosperous regions. The region is crossed by two of the
most important economic and communications axes in
the north of Spain: the Valley of El Ebro and the Way of
St James. It also has excellent connections with Madrid,
Bilbao, Barcelona and Valencia, as well as a good way to
the rest of Europe through France.

7. Gastronomy
La Rioja is recognized by the use of meats such as pork, and their cold
cuts made after the traditional slaughter. The lamb is perhaps the
second most popular meat in this region (Sarmiento chops) and finally,
veal are common in mountain areas. The most famous dish is Rioja
potatoes and Fritada. The least known are holy lunch and garlic eggs.
Some other famous dishes are Rioja stew and roasted peppers.
Rioja is a wine made from grapes grown in rioja and in parts of Navarre
and the basque province of Álava. It is the best wine in Spain .
