Some Hindrances of Scientific Inquiry
The scientific Method of research
Principles of Scientific Method of Research
4. According to Purpose
ďPredictive or Prognostic research
â Determining the future operation of the variables under
investigation with the aim of controlling or directing
such for the better.
ďDirective research
â Determines what should be done based on the
findings.
ďIlluminative research
â Concerned with the interaction of the components of
the variable being investigated.
5.
6. According to Goal
ďBasic or pure research
â For the development of theories or principles
ďApplied Research
â The application of the results of pure research.
7.
8. According to the Level of Investigation
ďExploratory Research
â Studies the variables pertinent to a specific
situation
ďDescriptive Research
â Studies the relationships of variables
ďExperimental Research
â Studies the effects of the variables on each other
9.
10. According to the type of Analysis
ďAnalytic approach
â Attempts to identify and isolate the components of
the research situation.
ďHolistic Approach
â Begins with total situation.
11.
12.
13. According to Choice of answers to
problems
ďEvaluation Research
â Tries to find the most advantageous
ďDevelopmental Research
â Focus is on finding or developing a more suitable
instrument or process than has been available.
14.
15. According to Statistical content
ďQuantitative or statistical research
â Is one in which inferential statistics are utilized to
determine the results of the study.
ďNon-quantitative research
â Is research in which the use of quantity or statistics
is practically nil.
16.
17. According to Time element
ďHistorical research â describe what was
ďDescriptive research â describe what is
ďExperimental research â describes what will be

22. PRINCIPLES SCIENTIFIC METHOD OF
RESEARCH
⢠Rigid Control â refers to the manipulation of the
research variables.
⢠Objectivity â means that there should be no bias
or partiality in treating the results of the inquiry.
⢠Systematic Organization â refers to proper and
accurate tabulation of data as well as presenting
them in statistical tables ready for interpretation.
⢠Rigorous standards â refers to the setting up of
standards or principles which serve as bases for
evaluating the findings of a study.
