Reginald Rose s Twelve Angry Men
Twelve Angry Men, a play by Reginald Rose, follows the plot of twelve jurors in a courthouse jury
room. They are attempting to decide on a verdict for a 16 year old boy on trial for the murder of his
father. It is one of the hottest years on record in New York and these jurors just want the case to be
over. They all decide on leaving the boy guilty except for one, juror eight. He follows through on the
honesty that is supposed to be shown in the judicial system, but not like juror ten who uses prejudice
to persuade the other jurors to reach the verdict of guilty. During the play Juror eight uses facts and
evidence to create a claim without using his own beliefs and prejudices. Instead he uses sense and
going over the evidence that was presented

Suffering is centrepiece in Tim Winton’s modern Australian...
Suffering is centrepiece in Tim Winton s modern Australian classic, Cloudstreet. The novel depicts
characters who struggle to overcome their woes, with various approaches employed by characters so
that they can endure their pain. Winton glorifies the characters able to surpass their struggles through
reconciliation and love, describing them as whole and human beings who acknowledge that life is the
one thing constant in our existence; something to be grateful for. Those unable to completely conquer
their misery do not truly live although they may endure. These characters either are so focussed on
battling against pain, they cannot resolve it at the source, or chose a path of self ruin and are
diminished to shadows , eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winton s characters who possess tenacity are able to survive their periods of devastation. Haunted
with survivor s guilt and stripped of her faith and son, Oriel battles against the distress she has to
undergo and challenges its presence in her life, eventually learning to forgive and move on. When
Oriel thinks about everything that s been taken from her over the years , she describes it as the longest

Fish s state after many years of looking for the answers . The Aussie Battler within Oriel prohibits her
from giving in to her woeful circumstances, ensuring that she lives through to happier times. Will and
determination is one of the methods through which Winton s characters can continue living in defiance
of their torment. Grief is most strongly thwarted by the power of reconciliation. Rather than fighting
against and antagonising flawed relationships that induce suffering, it is more desirable to forgive and
harbour no grudges; effectively bringing an end to the trauma. Fish s spiritual affliction is appeased
this way. Prior to Fish s transcendence, he was traumatised by the abundance of anguish within

The relationship and interaction between XML and databases
ECET610 UMUC
Abstract
This paper will explore the relationship between XML and databases and the way that they can be
leveraged to provide data exchange on the internet. As XML gains popularity as the format for
exchanging information via the internet and has become the language of choice for use in database
development for Internet use.Introduction
XML is a universal data standard and thereby does not need to be translated for use in different
database systems. This is very important with large corporate data systems. In companies that have
web presence this is a vital concern where some of the data base systems are handled by external
companies that use an entirely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This presents a scalability problem in that when the system contains a few thousand documents the
performance tends to degrade and become a management issue. Synchronization is also a problem
between the non database code and the database. If changes are made to the database structure the
XML pointers need to be updated as well and the system is not very portable.
The XML mapping style of data storage is used by web sites that map user inputs into XML schema
that manages the storage and retrieval of the data as shown in the example Figure 1. This is an
effective method when the existing data is in XML format.
Using XML to simplify processes
The flexibility of XML has made it the standard for the formatting and sharing of data via the web.
XML data is easily transferable across machines and applications and is not constrained by the
operating system of the host machine. This ease of translation enables XML to be transformed into
non XML formats for use with databases and their associated applications.
An XML database is a database that stores the data fields in XML format. This allows for cross
platform transferability and web page presentation. A web application is typically done in three layers
the back office code in Java or a

Jefferson Vs Adams Declaration Of Independence Essay
In the middle of July of 1801, Adams was working the ground near his utilized hands. He considered
his fundamental adversary to be Hamilton, who may have quickly dove the U.S. into war had Adams
not fortified a course of action with France. On the other hand, he was perhaps most tormented by
encounters of Jefferson, who had offended Adams and additionally sold out their own particular
cooperation. In the correspondence, Adams considered how certain events of the Revolutionary period
had the ability to be impulsive, while others had been dismissed. A legitimate sample, Jefferson s part
in the Declaration of Independence was point of fact understood, while the inclination anxiety in the
period had starting now been gleams by and by. Ellis prescribes ... Show more content on

Adams contended that it is riches or the absence of it which makes imbalance, particularly in America,
and in this way called Jefferson s promise for human fairness an unthinkable dream. Along these lines,
for Adams, the wellspring of the issue was not European feudalism, but instead human intuition.
Humorously, the slave populace of the South was an excellent illustration of feudalism, one in which
Jefferson joined in even as he assaulted the thought of feudalism. Jefferson denounced Adams for
tending to dam the dynamic legacy the region of republican respectability, a social event unrivaled by
their favorable circumstances as opposed to riches. Ellis takes note of that it was the Republican
capacity to perceive and talk in this way that secured the accomplishment of their gathering, while the
Federalists blurred away. Another contentious topic of the correspondence was the French Revolution.
Adams blissfully specified the subject as approval for quite a bit of his outside approach, which
Jefferson had assaulted in the race of 1800. Jefferson apologized for undermining Adams
administration through the Republican star French publicity that at last discolored Adams notoriety
and drove Jefferson to the official office. Jefferson had apologized finally for his most ponder and
individual slight against Adams, and Adams benevolently got it. Both men expected the developing

Summary Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Cultural Legacies Final Paper In chapter seven and chapter eight of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell
effectively claims that acknowledging cultural legacies betters the chance of success. In chapter seven
of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell entices readers on the topic of plane crashes in the aviation world,
while commendably and credibly synthesizing the controversy around the question of how and why
plane crashes occur. When illustrating the terrible crash of Korean Airlines Flight 801 in 1997,
Gladwell intricately describes the language, words, actions, and psychology of the pilots and crew
members associated with the plane crash to better the authenticity of his claim. Combining these ideas,
Gladwell forms a theory that arguably proves to be true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I was there, I saw firsthand the importance of cultural legacy and the effect it had on the
communication between groups of different cultural legacies: Haitian and American. Having the
cultural legacy of a native American (not referring to ethnicity), I wore a bracelet on my ankle. In
Haiti, the primary cultural legacy of Haitians assumes that anklet bracelets is a symbol for prostitution.
Not only does Haiti s cultural legacy induce the tradition of this assumption, it also induces the
assumption that prostitution is an act of Satan. Further into the story, I walked past a young orphan girl
living at the orphanage I was staying at. As I walked past her, she stopped me in my tracts and yelled
at me, Satan! . The communication barrier between me and the young girl, resulted in
miscommunication. This is another example of how interaction between different cultural legacies
results in a communication barrier. These examples of cultural legacy, are only but a few examples
from my trip to Haiti. Because I experienced the interaction between myself and people of different
cultural legacies, I agree with Gladwell s theory that cultural legacies are important and effective in

Semiahmoo History
Semiahmoo Spit back in 1841 was originally called Tongue Point, and the water on either side of the
spit was called Drayton s Bay and Drayton s Cove respectively. In 1857, it was renamed Semiahmoo
Bay. In 1858, the spit was renamed Semiahmoo City. Today the spit is simply referred to as
Semiahmoo.
There were two Semiahmoo Cities back then one on the Spit and one on the mainland. Semiahmoo of
the spit was situated on a tongue of the mainland, extending from a heavily timbered point, some
seven eighths of a mile into the bay. A Portion of the area was cultivated, the rest covered with
pasture.
Semiahmoo City was established in 1857 to supply prospectors of the Frasier River Gold Rush with
shelter, food, and drink. The town consisted of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The year 1984 brought the opening of the original Semiahmoo Resort, which featured reminders of
the Salish Native tribe, the 1850 Gold Rush boomtown and the lifestyles of the cannery workers from
the early 1900 s, along with all the modern facilities of a first class resort.
Today, Semiahmoo offers walking trails, bird watching and sandy beaches for clamming,
beachcombing and picnicking. Semiahmoo Resort has reopened under new management and had
made many refreshing changes. Condominiums blend into the landscape and Semiahmoo Marina is
bustling with boaters headed out to the islands, visiting boaters headed in to enjoy the beauty and
peacefulness of the Marina and the Marina Café is tempting residents and visitors with the scent of
freshly made coffees and sandwiches.

Demographics Paper
DEMOGRAPHICS Demographics in the true essence of the word means the records of the human
population in a country. This includes the country s population density, ethnicity, education level,
health, economic status, religious affiliations, and other aspects of the said population. In some
commonly used demographics gender, race, age, income, disabilities, educational attainment, home
ownership, employment status, and even location are also included. Also called demographic data,
these are the characteristics of a human population as used in government, marketing and opinion

China, for one adopted this policy in order to curb population growth. We all know that China has the
highest population in the world, encompassing 1.2 billion or twenty one percent of the world s
population. They know too well that if this would continue to grow, they will be having serious social
and economic problems. As a solution, in the year 1979, Chinese authorities create a one child per
family policy and because male children are often regarded as more economically valuable, female
infanticides increase. Infanticides are often regarded to as an inhumane act especially to us Christians
however in primitive people; this thing is not new to them. Many Asian and European countries
engaged in this act to prevent the population growth in their nations.
Because of the ONE CHILD POLICY, China was able to control its population. They are considered
to have the highest population rate not just in Asia but in the whole world and so this policy is more or
less favorable to them. This policy was said to have been the reason why they were saved from famine
and other economic disability. However, in smaller countries like Japan, this policy was effective
during the first years of implementation but later on become a hindrance in the progress of their
country. Japan, just like China adopted this policy to prevent the growth of their population. Now,
however they feel sorry that they had implemented this policy because now, they have the what you

Jesus The Historical And Biblical Survey Of Synchronous
Study of Jesus, the historical and biblical survey being synchronous, is not simple. Understanding of
the Bible and ascribing to its truths requires not only faith but time and an attentive and open heart
willing and ready to listen. Of understanding the authentic Jesus of the Bible, James Breech observes
the following: Those who really have something significant to say are usually best able to keep
silence. Jesus does not impose himself, does not raise his voice, but is keeping silent until the audience
is prepared to listen. For those who are willing to pay attention, I hope the voice which originally
uttered these parables and sayings will be heard once again, revealing its elusive reality. Until we

A 2011 neurological study in a University of California reveals that one can only acquire information
when their mind is tranquil. However, with Google s constant commercials, links, and pop ups, one
cannot remember the information they are trying to take in. As a result, Google is slowly demolishing
our memory.
Google saves our time and energy, but people are becoming too dependent upon it. Google Maps, with
more than ten million downloads, has become a necessity of life to some individuals. Without Google
Maps, most drivers can not find their way around places. Due to the dependence on Google, many fail
to recall how to read maps which is a significant skill needed to survive if something happens to
technology. In addition, if Google were to shut down for a couple of days, fifty six percent of
businesses will suffer great losses. Businesses will not be able to function because of their dependence
on Google s software, such as Google Analytics. They will also lose communication with each other,
having a major impact on America s economy. Not only will businesses suffer, but people will too.
Android and Chromebook users won t be able to call, text, or browse since those devices are powered

The New Vice President Over Administrative Affairs At...
The new vice president over administrative affairs at Sweetwater State University, Rob Winchester,
has been tasked with improving and developing a new appraisal system used to evaluate secretarial
and clerical performance at the university (Dessler, 2015, p. 287). Rob s initial memo to the
administrators instructed that in the future, no more than fifty percent of the secretaries under each
supervisor could receive a rating of excellent on their annual performance appraisals. Immediately,
this memo caused turmoil within the university with both the secretaries and managers. The
secretaries were worried this new system was unfair and reduced each secretary s chance of receiving
a maximum salary increase (Dessler, 2015, p. 287). Additionally, the managers were concerned they
would begin losing secretaries to more lucrative jobs. With all of this at hand, Rob called on several
performance appraisal experts within the university to find a viable solution to the task at hand. Rob
and the experts needed to make several decisions regarding the graphic rating system and the strategy
moving forward to make any changes to the current performance appraisal method. This paper will
present possible solutions to the appraisal issues Rob and his team were tasked correct.

Equality Or Not In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Equality or Not....
What would our society be like if we had rules that forced everyone to be equal? Ayn Rand illustrates
this in Anthem. The rules are there to make everyone equal, but in reality they are making everything
exponentially unequal. The laws are there to keep the people believing they are equal. However, if the
people knew what advantages they could obtain in the new society, would these people decide to stay
in the society where they are told what to do their entire lives, or would they go with Prometheus to
his new modern society. In Prometheus s society I believe he will have rules that any civilized society
needs. Although, he will not have restrictive rules that try to enforce equality.
First, the rules are there to give equality. But, to be equal everyone would have to have the same job. I
can see how this wouldn t work. If everyone had the same job nothing would get accomplished. There
would be no street sweepers, scholars, teachers, or guards. There would be no world council. Suppose
being a farmer was the only job. There would be plenty of food, but nobody to cook it, so there would

Effects Of Population Growth In The 19th Century
During the 19th century Britain s cities experienced a massive increase in population, causing rapidly
and unorganised growth. This increase was largely due to the industrial revolution. This term is used
to describe the period between 1770 and 1840 where a boom of industry occurred across Britain
attracting a new workforce (Smith Morris, 1997). Simultaneously, a huge agricultural depression was
forcing thousands off the land and into the cities (Hall, 2002a, pg 90) where there was more work. As
Lawless and Brown (1986) describes: Urban population growth, coupled with economic growth and
change, were beginning to rewrite the population map of Britain (pg 10). Subsequently, cities faced
many different challenges. One of these related to poor quality housing. Housing needed to be close
by the factories for convenience, although this also meant that they were often very dirty and noisy.
The housing was regularly built very cheaply and was poorly designed. This housing was usually
tenements, with limited outdoor space. They were built in very high density, often back to back with
neighbouring tenements. The homes were small, with no sanitation or only outdoor sanitation, no
ventilation, no heating, little light and the air polluted from the smoke and grime of the factory
chimneys (Smith Morris, 1997, pg 28), all this made the tenements very undesirable places to live.
Another issue was overcrowding. As people wanted to live close to the factories where they worked,

In the next 50 years, the Cascadia fault will slip and the government would not even bat an eye if they

the fault slips; the west coast of the North American Plate suddenly slides westward over the Juan de

was a meeting that was healed in Switzerland with over a hundred diplomats form a handful of nations
to originally discuss the Cold war with Berlin and Korea. The battle of Dien Bien Phu had gotten

Interviewee was feeling dismal because of this setback. Terminating from such an association where

The Paradox Of Change In Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine
The Paradox of Change
Change is a force which is ever present in the universe, and an individual is never free from its effects;
change will continuously mold the individual by challenging its perception of its surroundings and
itself. In many ways, change causes development and maturity, yet it also causes decline and decay.
Change is constant. However, the paradox of change is often difficult to accept, and people will fight
with its reality throughout their lifetimes: friends will come and go, epiphanies and advances will
arrive, and things will never quite be like they used to be. The struggle between change and the
individual is a recurring part of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine. This relationship shows not only
through the main character, Doug Spaulding, but also through those around him. Doug and the rest of
Green Town show how people contend with changes in that which they know, those whom they know,
and even themselves.
Many of Doug s favorite parts of Green Town become altered in some way during the summer of
1928. No more trolley. Bus starts to run tomorrow. Going to retire me with a pension, they are
(Bradbury 98). After Mr. Tridden tells them that the trolley is shutting down, Doug protests by
pointing out that a bus doesn t have the charm of the trolley. Later on, a woman thwarts an attempted
murder by the town s serial killer, The Lonely One . As Doug, Tom, and Charlie reflect upon seeing
the paramedics take Lonely One in on a stretcher, they lament the fact that there will be no more
killings to create excitement around town. Charlie rants to Tom, This town used to have some good
stuff in it up until about twelve o clock last night. From here on, we re vanilla junket (Bradbury 178).
They even try to convince themselves that the man on the stretcher wasn t the Lonely One. Regardless
of how unpleasant or cumbersome certain aspects of the town were, the kids still disliked their
altercation, and they struggled with everything beginning and ending around them.
The people of Green Town repeatedly grappled with very personal changes to those whom they were
familiar with. This contention is very prevalent within Doug when he hears that his friend, John Huff,
is moving away. To delay the

How Did Jose Limón Changed My Life
What I saw simply and irrevocably changed my life. I saw the dance as a vision of ineffable power. A
man could, with dignity and towering majesty, dance... dance as Michelangelo s visions dance and as
the music of Bach dances. These were the words spoken by José Limón as he witnessed his first dance
program in the New York City in 1928. José Limón would come to be known as one of the most
critical figures in the development of modern dance. Coming from a country with a rich, diverse
culture, Mexican born ballet dancer and choreographer José Limón contributed to the American
modern artworks of dance through his own perception of movement styles and using the human body
as an emotional guide.

Two Women in Proverbs 9 Essay
Two Women in Proverbs 9 Proverbs has always been one of the most renowned and loved books of
the Bible. According to the prologue, it was written to teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and
prudence to the young (1.4), and to let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning
acquire skill (1.5). It is primarily addressed to young men, as the author makes frequent references to
my son throughout. The purpose of this book was to help prepare young men for leadership and life. A
proverb, which serves the purpose of drawing a comparison between two forms of behavior to teach
moral wisdom, explicitly fulfills its role in particularly chapter 9 of Proverbs. In light of this father to

The reward of the assiduous will far exceed that of the indolent in the long run. Lady Wisdom and
Lady Folly not only own their own homes, but they are situated at the highest places in the town (9.3,
9.14). Because both women dwell at the promontories of their respective cities, they are able to look
out and gain a perspective that is much broader than those who are standing on level ground. They
have the advantage of being able to observe other people and what they are doing. By being able to
observe others every move, their neighbors are at their most vulnerable state without even being aware
of it themselves. Lady Folly uses her advantageous location to remember the weaknesses of others
that she catches and files them in her memory storage for later use. While Lady Folly uses young men
s weaknesses by using them against them solely for her own gain, Lady Wisdom selflessly uses her
high promontory for the benefit of others. She uses the information she learns, to teach others their
mistakes and to help them in any way she can. The speaker is portraying the importance of leadership
that instead of being consumed with their own selves, the young men must also be able to pinpoint
others strengths and weaknesses to help them, not to use against them. The next similarity that these
women share is that they both call out to people, inviting them over to their respective houses. Lady

Aerotoxic Syndrome is an illness that is caused by breathing in toxic fumes inside of the jet aircraft.
This is caused by the air intake on a plane, which comes from the engine where it sucks in the air and
pumps it into the cabin, but the toxic oils and other substances in the engine can easily leak into the
airflow and contaminate the air that all passengers and staff breath. A very common leakage is the
leakage of the jet engine lubricant oil, tricresyl phosphate, otherwise known as TCP or TOCP. The
Government and regulatory authorities have conducted researches that have admitted to the
association between the contamination of the cabin air to chronic health problems, but they have not
admitted to specific causation. Aerotoxic Syndrome could possibly cause

Long Term Causes Of The Spanish Civil War
The Spanish Civil War was a war that fought between the Nationalists and the Republicans. Although
this war was relatively short lasting from 1936 to 1939, there were many long term causes leading up
to this event. Some of the long term causes were the Spanish American War, the church and the army,
and failed dictatorships. One of the biggest long term reasons was the Spanish American War because
prior to this war, Spain was one of the richest and most powerful nations in the world (Grabowski 37).
However, this led to Spain s fatal mistake of buying all their necessities instead of producing it. As a
result, Spain was left behind in terms of industrialism and stayed as a rural country instead of an

Fahrenheit 451 Society Analysis
When Ron Jones had manipulated his class into a mild form of neo nazism, most, if not all, took
notice, with the small exception of his class. His class had no idea what they became until the end of
the experiment. This raises the question: How can you tell whether or not something is wrong with
society? Now, obviously the whole something is wrong with society boils down to nothing more than
an opinion, so as a way to measure it, I will focus on societies that are largely believed and generally
accepted to be corrupt, so as much as I d love to talk about how screwed up our current society is,
because I m in the unfortunate minority, I d have to stick with the Nazi regime and fictional
governments. I will be presenting three different corrupt policies for each argument: Fahrenheit 451
society, another fictional society, and real society The first sign that a government or society is corrupt
is cruel or unusual punishment. Governments that punish those that have committed crimes that
present no right to be punished. In Fahrenheit 451 , the greatest look we ever get at their punishment
(besides the burning houses) is what happened to the poor chap minding his own business. The guy
wasn t even doing anything even remotely criminal, but he still was subjected to lethal punishment.

The problems include environmental noise and RF signal reflections that give rise to multipath fading
variations in RF signal level due to signal reflections. The improved robustness of digital radio
promises to remedy this, delivering near CD sound for most listening conditions.
With AM radio, the transition will be even more marked. The new digital service will offer two
channel stereo sound and greatly increased frequency response, resulting in audio quality comparable
to today s analog FM.
In addition, digital will greatly enhance terrestrial radio robustness, which is the ability to withstand
factors such as multipath fading, environmental noise, and impulse noise interference due to
automobile ignitions or home appliances. Digital s robustness also holds up well against interference
from nearby radio broadcast signals and terrain blockage for FM, as well as signal attenuation due to
grounded conductive structures like reinforced concrete highway overpasses for AM.
With most radio listening done in a moving car, the signal degradation varies constantly with time,
further complicating matters. To reduce or eliminate these problems, a variety of signal processing
techniques (described below) have been incorporated into digital radio systems.
While enhanced quality and robustness and new services entice broadcasters, and should bode well for

Global Wine War 2009-New World Versus Old
Introduction In the 1960s, 1970s or even 1980s, if you ask someone, which countries produce the best
wine in the world? They would have said France, Italy or Spain. However, if you ask someone the
same question nowadays, the answer would be different. The new wine industry players such as
Australia, the United States and Chile are changing the global industry structure, leading the global
industry trend, and challenging the traditional wine makers by introducing innovations at every stage
of the value chain. This article analyzed the development of global wine industry from the old world
to the new based on Case 2 1 Global Wine War 2009: New World Versus Old, and gave some advice
to the both sides in the fierce battle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economic impact of these innovations largely decreased the production costs of the New World
comparing with the Old.
Changed Marketing Model
In addition to the innovations of grape growing and winemaking, New World also innovated in
packaging and marketing.
They developed collapsible plastic bag and replaced cork stoppers with screw caps to reduce shipping
costs, to save storage space and to avoid the defect of corks.
They learned the value of differentiating their products and making them more appealing to palates
unaccustomed to wine. These experiments provided valuable lessons in branding and marketing.
Some experienced marketers such as Coca Cola, Nestlé, Pillsbury and Seagram entered the wine
industry and left behind the consumer focused attitudes and the sophisticated marketing skills.
The large New World companies typically controlled the full value chain, extracting margins at every
level and retaining bargaining power with increasingly concentrated retailers.
These changes brought more profits, more recognition of consumers, more market share and more
marketing experience to New World companies.
Global Competition between New World and Old With the intensifying competition between New
World and Old, significant changes happened during the last quarter of the 20th century made the
competition increasingly fierce.
Maturing Global Markets and Changing Global Demand Patterns A declining demand in worldwide
consumption

To Pimp A Butterfly Analysis
Kendrick Lamar s third studio album, To Pimp a Butterfly, sheds light on the struggle of achieving
rich and fame and the trials that come with. Rolling Stone and Billboard praised the album awarding it
the best album of 2015. The album depicts the difficulties of fame by putting the trials and tribulations
on display; the inability for those to adjust to their new lifestyle and the potential temptations that
creep in. To Pimp a Butterfly has been both a divisive and uniting factor in its emergence in popular
culture.
Kendrick Lamar grew up in the city of Compton. Lamar s father was a member of a gang in Chicago
before they moved to Compton. His mother s brothers had ties to the notorious gang the Compton
Crips. When Lamar was eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lamar states that Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the
same. Caterpillars can become butterflies through metamorphosis, or in the case of Kendrick Lamar,
through finding their gifts and talents. A caterpillar only becomes a butterfly when it breaks out of its
cocoon.
The title To Pimp a Butterfly is in and of itself the central message Lamar is communicating with the
listener. To Pimp a Butterfly refers to the downfall (whether that be intellectually or physically) of
butterflies. That downfall occurs when butterflies become seduced by fame and fortune often by their
own desires or, in some cases, by their exploitation. A pimped butterfly perpetuates the idea that the
only lifestyle to live is one based on status and wealth.
The opening track of the album is entitled Wesley s Theory. Wesley, in this instance, is in reference to
Wesley Snipes. Wesley Snipes is known for his income tax conviction which, when juxtaposed onto
Lamar s extended metaphor, makes him a pimped butterfly. The track divides each of the two verses
into separate perspectives. The first verse is from the caterpillars perspective in the mindset of
consumption, I ma buy a brand new Caddy on fours/Trunk the hood up, two times, deuce
four/Platinum on everythin , platinum on weddin ring/Married to the game. The game being fame and
fortune. The second perspective is capitalist America represented by Uncle Sam. Lamar states I can

The Importance of Samuel Pepys Diary
The Importance of Samuel Pepys Diary
Imagine witnessing one of the most defining points in the history of England and living to speak of it,
Samuel Pepys did just that. Samuel Pepys kept a diary while major events in history went on
throughout his life. Pepys began writing his dairy on January 1, 1660 and concluded it in 1669. The
diary contained Samuel Pepys inner most personal thoughts and was only intended for personal
keeping but went on to become famous. Samuel Pepys diary is one of the most important pieces of
literature in England s history because it tells descriptive information about the coronation of King
Charles II, detailed crucial events in history, and outlined how people lived in mid 17th century
England.
Samuel Pepys wrote about many important things in his diary and one of those items happened to be
about King Charles II coronation. Pepys started writing April 22, 1661, the day before the coronation.
He wrote about the King s procession Ye Tower to White Hall which is where the coronation was to be
held. Pepys was very excited for this day writing, it is impossible to relate the glory of this day
(Samuel Pepys). He wrote about the party in the streets and the excitement of the day. The following
day was the coronation. The coronation day it self was a very glorious and special day for all the
people in England. Pepys wrote his observations on how many people were there, praised the king and
how marvelous he looked, and took into account the order in

Physical Inactivity Refers To Having A Sedentary Lifestyle
Physical inactivity refers to having a sedentary lifestyle which is characterized by sitting and changing
postures without involving any bodily movement of any kind for above 8 10 hours per day.
Scientifically, it means having an overall energy expenditure ≤ 1.5 metabolic equivalents based on the
measurement scale of energy expenditure continuum. Common sedentary behaviors are sitting in the
office for hours, computer use, and watching TV. Using a car to run errands instead of walking is
considered a sedentary behavior and playing video games for hours. (Sedentary Behaviour.org, Get
Britain Standing). A sedentary lifestyle does not necessarily refer to laziness or lack of responsibility,
it means having no form of any physical activity as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The survey indicates that more women are susceptible to developing a sedentary lifestyle, especially
in an office setting in comparison to men. Moreover, many research and studies have identified the
strong ties between physical inactivity and poor health status. Physical inactivity is responsible for
approximately 3.2 million people about 6% of deaths globally and it remains the fourth leading cause
of death worldwide. Not following the recommended exercise guidelines can contribute to developing
breast and colon cancer by 21 25% (WHO). The top diseases linked to physical inactivity are obesity,
diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, osteoporosis, back/neck pain, metabolic syndrome, and
cardiovascular diseases (Get Britain Standing.org). A substantial number of factors can contribute
greatly to the increased risk physical inactivity such as one s attitude towards the behavior and the
environment, or the social norms. The CDC shows, only 20.9% of adults 18 and above meet the
physical activity guidelines for both aerobic and muscle strengthening activity (CDC 2017). However,
other related behaviors can correspondingly contribute to risk factors of physical inactivity. For
example, tobacco smoking combined with a poor diet and stress can be the impeccable formula to a
slow death.
Furthermore, the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability

The novel depicts characters who struggle to overcome their woes, with various approaches employed by characters so that they can endure their pain. Winton glorifies the characters able to surpass their struggles through reconciliation and love, describing them as whole and human beings who acknowledge that life is the one thing constant in our existence; something to be grateful for. Those unable to completely conquer their misery do not truly live although they may endure. Rather than fighting against and antagonising flawed relationships that induce suffering, it is more desirable to forgive and harbour no grudges; effectively bringing an end to the trauma. ITEC 610 Assingement 1 Essay The relationship and interaction between XML and databases ECET610 UMUC Abstract This paper will explore the relationship between XML and databases and the way that they can be leveraged to provide data exchange on the internet. As XML gains popularity as the format for exchanging information via the internet and has become the language of choice for use in database development for Internet use.Introduction XML is a universal data standard and thereby does not need to be translated for use in different database systems. This is very important with large corporate data systems. This presents a scalability problem in that when the system contains a few thousand documents the performance tends to degrade and become a management issue. Synchronization is also a problem between the non database code and the database. If changes are made to the database structure the XML pointers need to be updated as well and the system is not very portable. The XML mapping style of data storage is used by web sites that map user inputs into XML schema that manages the storage and retrieval of the data as shown in the example Figure 1. This is an effective method when the existing data is in XML format. Using XML to simplify processes The flexibility of XML has made it the standard for the formatting and sharing of data via the web. XML data is easily transferable across machines and applications and is not constrained by the operating system of the host machine. This ease of translation enables XML to be transformed into non XML formats for use with databases and their associated applications. An XML database is a database that stores the data fields in XML format. This allows for cross platform transferability and web page presentation. A web application is typically done in three layers the back office code in Java or a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Adams contended that it is riches or the absence of it which makes imbalance, particularly in America, and in this way called Jefferson s promise for human fairness an unthinkable dream. Along these lines, for Adams, the wellspring of the issue was not European feudalism, but instead human intuition. Summary Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell Cultural Legacies Final Paper In chapter seven and chapter eight of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell effectively claims that acknowledging cultural legacies betters the chance of success. In chapter seven of Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell entices readers on the topic of plane crashes in the aviation world, while commendably and credibly synthesizing the controversy around the question of how and why plane crashes occur. When illustrating the terrible crash of Korean Airlines Flight 801 in 1997, Gladwell intricately describes the language, words, actions, and psychology of the pilots and crew members associated with the plane crash to better the authenticity of his claim. In Haiti, the primary cultural legacy of Haitians assumes that anklet bracelets is a symbol for prostitution. Not only does Haiti s cultural legacy induce the tradition of this assumption, it also induces the assumption that prostitution is an act of Satan. Further into the story, I walked past a young orphan girl living at the orphanage I was staying at. As I walked past her, she stopped me in my tracts and yelled at me, Satan! . The communication barrier between me and the young girl, resulted in miscommunication. This is another example of how interaction between different cultural legacies results in a communication barrier. These examples of cultural legacy, are only but a few examples from my trip to Haiti. The new vice president over administrative affairs at Sweetwater State University, Rob Winchester, has been tasked with improving and developing a new appraisal system used to evaluate secretarial and clerical performance at the university (Dessler, 2015, p. 287). Rob s initial memo to the administrators instructed that in the future, no more than fifty percent of the secretaries under each supervisor could receive a rating of excellent on their annual performance appraisals. Immediately, this memo caused turmoil within the university with both the secretaries and managers. The secretaries were worried this new system was unfair and reduced each secretary s chance of receiving a maximum salary increase (Dessler, 2015, p. 287). Additionally, the managers were concerned they would begin losing secretaries to more lucrative jobs. The rules are there to make everyone equal, but in reality they are making everything exponentially unequal. The laws are there to keep the people believing they are equal. However, if the people knew what advantages they could obtain in the new society, would these people decide to stay in the society where they are told what to do their entire lives, or would they go with Prometheus to his new modern society. In Prometheus s society I believe he will have rules that any civilized society needs. Although, he will not have restrictive rules that try to enforce equality. First, the rules are there to give equality. But, to be equal everyone would have to have the same job. I can see how this wouldn t work. If everyone had the same job nothing would get accomplished. • 16. Effects Of Population Growth In The 19th Century During the 19th century Britain s cities experienced a massive increase in population, causing rapidly and unorganised growth. This increase was largely due to the industrial revolution. This term is used to describe the period between 1770 and 1840 where a boom of industry occurred across Britain attracting a new workforce (Smith Morris, 1997). Simultaneously, a huge agricultural depression was forcing thousands off the land and into the cities (Hall, 2002a, pg 90) where there was more work. As Lawless and Brown (1986) describes: Urban population growth, coupled with economic growth and change, were beginning to rewrite the population map of Britain (pg 10). Subsequently, cities faced many different challenges. One of these related to poor quality housing. Housing needed to be close by the factories for convenience, although this also meant that they were often very dirty and noisy. The housing was regularly built very cheaply and was poorly designed. This housing was usually tenements, with limited outdoor space. They were built in very high density, often back to back with neighbouring tenements. The homes were small, with no sanitation or only outdoor sanitation, no ventilation, no heating, little light and the air polluted from the smoke and grime of the factory chimneys (Smith Morris, 1997, pg 28), all this made the tenements very undesirable places to live. • 25. The Paradox Of Change In Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine The Paradox of Change Change is a force which is ever present in the universe, and an individual is never free from its effects; change will continuously mold the individual by challenging its perception of its surroundings and itself. In many ways, change causes development and maturity, yet it also causes decline and decay. Change is constant. However, the paradox of change is often difficult to accept, and people will fight with its reality throughout their lifetimes: friends will come and go, epiphanies and advances will arrive, and things will never quite be like they used to be. The struggle between change and the individual is a recurring part of Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine. This relationship shows not only through the main character, Doug Spaulding, but also through those around him. Doug and the rest of Green Town show how people contend with changes in that which they know, those whom they know, and even themselves. Many of Doug s favorite parts of Green Town become altered in some way during the summer of 1928. No more trolley. Bus starts to run tomorrow. Going to retire me with a pension, they are (Bradbury 98). After Mr. Tridden tells them that the trolley is shutting down, Doug protests by pointing out that a bus doesn t have the charm of the trolley. Later on, a woman thwarts an attempted murder by the town s serial killer, The Lonely One . As Doug, Tom, and Charlie reflect upon seeing the paramedics take Lonely One in on a stretcher, they lament the fact that there will be no more killings to create excitement around town. Charlie rants to Tom, This town used to have some good stuff in it up until about twelve o clock last night. From here on, we re vanilla junket (Bradbury 178). They even try to convince themselves that the man on the stretcher wasn t the Lonely One. Regardless of how unpleasant or cumbersome certain aspects of the town were, the kids still disliked their altercation, and they struggled with everything beginning and ending around them. The people of Green Town repeatedly grappled with very personal changes to those whom they were familiar with. • 40. Fahrenheit 451 Society Analysis When Ron Jones had manipulated his class into a mild form of neo nazism, most, if not all, took notice, with the small exception of his class. His class had no idea what they became until the end of the experiment. This raises the question: How can you tell whether or not something is wrong with society? Now, obviously the whole something is wrong with society boils down to nothing more than an opinion, so as a way to measure it, I will focus on societies that are largely believed and generally accepted to be corrupt, so as much as I d love to talk about how screwed up our current society is, because I m in the unfortunate minority, I d have to stick with the Nazi regime and fictional governments. I will be presenting three different corrupt policies for each argument: Fahrenheit 451 society, another fictional society, and real society The first sign that a government or society is corrupt is cruel or unusual punishment. Governments that punish those that have committed crimes that present no right to be punished. In Fahrenheit 451 , the greatest look we ever get at their punishment (besides the burning houses) is what happened to the poor chap minding his own business. The guy wasn t even doing anything even remotely criminal, but he still was subjected to lethal punishment. Another example is the IDW universe of Transformers. In the comic the last days of peace on cybertron is presented in a very dark and gloomy way. For example, anyone that spoke out against the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Emergence Of Satellite Radio Essay The Emergence of Satellite Radio While the transition of television to a digital technology with its improved picture and sound quality has been a much publicized and controversial process, television s venerable ancestor, radio, has stayed in the background. But this year, in the United States, radio broadcasting is making its own digital leap. Two start ups are introducing a new type of radio broadcast subscription based digital audio sent from satellites. With satellite digital audio radio services (SDARS), as they re called, listeners will be able to tune in to the same radio stations anywhere in the United States. SDARS differs from so called digital music services, in which direct broadcast satellite or cable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problems include environmental noise and RF signal reflections that give rise to multipath fading variations in RF signal level due to signal reflections. The improved robustness of digital radio promises to remedy this, delivering near CD sound for most listening conditions. With AM radio, the transition will be even more marked. The new digital service will offer two channel stereo sound and greatly increased frequency response, resulting in audio quality comparable to today s analog FM. In addition, digital will greatly enhance terrestrial radio robustness, which is the ability to withstand factors such as multipath fading, environmental noise, and impulse noise interference due to automobile ignitions or home appliances. Digital s robustness also holds up well against interference from nearby radio broadcast signals and terrain blockage for FM, as well as signal attenuation due to grounded conductive structures like reinforced concrete highway overpasses for AM. With most radio listening done in a moving car, the signal degradation varies constantly with time, further complicating matters. To reduce or eliminate these problems, a variety of signal processing techniques (described below) have been incorporated into digital radio systems. While enhanced quality and robustness and new services entice broadcasters, and should bode well for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They would have said France, Italy or Spain. However, if you ask someone the same question nowadays, the answer would be different. Changed Marketing Model In addition to the innovations of grape growing and winemaking, New World also innovated in packaging and marketing. They developed collapsible plastic bag and replaced cork stoppers with screw caps to reduce shipping costs, to save storage space and to avoid the defect of corks. They learned the value of differentiating their products and making them more appealing to palates unaccustomed to wine. These experiments provided valuable lessons in branding and marketing. Some experienced marketers such as Coca Cola, Nestlé, Pillsbury and Seagram entered the wine industry and left behind the consumer focused attitudes and the sophisticated marketing skills. The large New World companies typically controlled the full value chain, extracting margins at every level and retaining bargaining power with increasingly concentrated retailers. These changes brought more profits, more recognition of consumers, more market share and more marketing experience to New World companies. • 45. To Pimp A Butterfly Analysis Kendrick Lamar s third studio album, To Pimp a Butterfly, sheds light on the struggle of achieving rich and fame and the trials that come with. Rolling Stone and Billboard praised the album awarding it the best album of 2015. The album depicts the difficulties of fame by putting the trials and tribulations on display; the inability for those to adjust to their new lifestyle and the potential temptations that creep in. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lamar states that Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the same. Caterpillars can become butterflies through metamorphosis, or in the case of Kendrick Lamar, through finding their gifts and talents. A caterpillar only becomes a butterfly when it breaks out of its cocoon. The title To Pimp a Butterfly is in and of itself the central message Lamar is communicating with the listener. To Pimp a Butterfly refers to the downfall (whether that be intellectually or physically) of butterflies. That downfall occurs when butterflies become seduced by fame and fortune often by their own desires or, in some cases, by their exploitation. A pimped butterfly perpetuates the idea that the only lifestyle to live is one based on status and wealth. The opening track of the album is entitled Wesley s Theory. Wesley, in this instance, is in reference to Wesley Snipes. Wesley Snipes is known for his income tax conviction which, when juxtaposed onto Lamar s extended metaphor, makes him a pimped butterfly. The track divides each of the two verses into separate perspectives. The first verse is from the caterpillars perspective in the mindset of consumption, I ma buy a brand new Caddy on fours/Trunk the hood up, two times, deuce four/Platinum on everythin , platinum on weddin ring/Married to the game.
