My Experiences With Disability And Disability
My Experiences with Disability
Introduction...
Disability is prominent in our society and it is important that we live and work in communities that are
inclusive to those with limitations, and provide necessary supports to them. As a young adult I have
learned and experienced more about disability than when I was younger. I have gained the most
knowledge about disability through university classes, but there have also been times growing up
where I encountered individuals with various disabilities, either through sports or school. Before I
learned about disability and was aware of inclusive and accessible spaces, it was not something I spent
much time thinking or asking questions about. Once I was educated on what it means to have a ...

In this regard, it is beneficial for a child to receive education on what it means for a person to have a
disability and how others can respond appropriately and not with fear or negatively. To explain
disability, it is important to consider 3 different definitions, disability, impairment and handicap. As
well, when teaching younger kids about disability it would be beneficial if they were taught how to be
accepting of those who act, look or talk differently than they do. On the other hand, a child may not
recognize a PWD to be physically or mentally different from them, therefore they would continue to
treat them as everyone else. This mind set is helpful when thinking about disability, because whether
or not you perceive someone to have a different functioning level than you, it is vital to treat them
with the same respect as everyone else.
As I grew up I continued to have more interactions with PWD as well as ask more questions about the
concept of disability. I remember participating in recreational sports with other kids that had
differences, such as a child with a cochlear implant, or a child with an intellectual disability. I never
remembered these kids being discriminated against or excluded in games, but I also was not overly
attentive to how others treated them, or the differences in their playing ability. Other experiences I had
with kids with disability, includes one young girl who went to my elementary school,

Christian Beliefs Of The World
Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were
not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or
death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of his
beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really
trying to spread Christianity or was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his
territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector?
Charlemagne
Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was
born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in
an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian
beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis,
had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family
s relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his mother and the
monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy,
music and the bible (Graves, 2016). History books barely begin to touch on his love of education and
all manners of learning. He was also quite the outdoorsman and

CNOOC: BUILDING A WORLD CLASS ENERGY COMPANY CASE ANALYSIS By Becoming a
world class energy company does have its privileges and requires a significant amount of commitment
from a thriving leadership team. Fu Chengyu, the President of China National Offshore Oil
Corporation joined the company over 30 years ago at its inception. He shared his vision of having a
world class energy company, by improving value creation capability, low carbon competiveness, and
sustainability. After Fu Chengyu was appointed President in 2003, the company experienced what
some people would say supernatural success . The company developed from a domestic market to
more than 20 countries and regions overseas, causing tremendous growth in revenues. By ... Show

A major emphasis was placed on Human Resources in an effort to set up a more efficient HR system,
focus on organizational development and decision making systems that would support the company s
growth and development. Managers could be promoted or demoted. Organizational hierarchies were
no longer set in stone but rather flexible so that talented employees could have room for advancement
and people were placed in positions according to their skills and abilities. By 2004, CNOOC enhanced
their global vision by focusing on four strategies: synergistic development, technology driven growth,
development of a world class work force and cost competiveness. Restructuring continued and
overseas expansion remained a priority while constantly looking for targets with rich natural
resources. In 2005, it encountered political barriers when attempting to acquire California base Unocal
with 18.5 billion cash. Politicians were opposed to CNOOC s efforts to win Unocal claiming that the
state owned Oil Company was acting as a proxy for the Chinese government seeking to secure U.S
energy assets. (Bower, Dai, Shih Ta Chen 2012). Fu wanted to shift his focus in their acquisition
strategy by cooperating with others to acquire overseas assets instead of going after the big
companies. He wanted to build and maintain a close business relationship with local partners to create
cooperation and mutual understanding rather than attempting to completely take

Gel Electrophoresis Lab Report
Title Gel Filtration and SDS Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (P.A.G.E) Gel Filtration, SDS PAGE
Objective The purpose of this lab was to separate a mixture of Hemoglobin, BSA, Blue Dextran, and
yellow food coloring by size into fractions using gel filtration. Also simple non quantitative assay was
performed to determine the fractions that contained proteins. Another objective was to analyze the
protein content of being BSA or Hemoglobin and estimate the molecular weight of the proteins
collected. Methods Gel Filtration: A glass column with inner diameter of 1 cm, was packed with Bio
Gel P 100 (BIO RAD) beads suspended in equilibrium buffer of 20 mM phosphate buffer with a pH of
7.0 7.4. The height of the total content was kept at 5cm. The sample mix with total volume of .1ml
contained 2 mg/ml Blue Dextran (blue, 2 MDa), 5 µl yellow food coloring (yellow, ~500 Da), 2
mg/ml Hemoglobin (red), 2 mg/ml of BSA in phosphate buffer. As soon as the sample mix was added
to the column, 0.25 ml (~2 drops) of fractions were collected in the Eppendorf tubes until all the
colored bands eluted the column because it was assumed that the colored band represented protein
content. Approximately 1 µl of each of the fractions collected were spotted on to nitrocellulose filter
using capillary pipet. After the filter was dried, it was incubated in 50% methanol for 5 minutes then it
was incubated in Amido Black (0.1% amido black 10B in 30% methanol) for 5 minutes. Next, the

Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide In The United States
Assisted suicide is the suicide of a terminally ill patient, achieved by using a prescribed drug from a
doctor for that specific purpose. It is legal in only six states in the United States of America including:
Oregon, Montana, Washington, Colorado, Vermont, and California. Countries such as Germany,
Japan, and Switzerland have legalized assisted suicide in past years. It has been disputed for many
years and continues to be a controversial issue whether physicians should be authorized to end an
individual s life with their prescription and if this should be done legally.
Additionally, the term euthanasia does not mean the same thing as assisted suicide. Often people
confuse these processes when they differ immensely. Despite this, they remain similar in their
resulting death of a human life through the help of a physician. Euthanasia is the direct killing of a
patient by a physician by means of lethal injection and it is completely controlled by the doctor. On
the other hand, patients in assisted suicide have full control over the process that leads to their death.
For this reason, procedures of these sorts must be eliminated as medical treatments and should not be
authorized. Consequently, physician assisted suicide has been proven to lead to euthanasia in some
cases. Assisted suicide should become illegal in all fifty states of the United States of America because
it raises religious concern, endorses legalized murder, puts vulnerable people at risk of abuse, and

Fracking Vs Natural Gas Essay
Fracking is good for United States because it is used for fueling vehicles, cooking, and heating houses
and offices; unfortunately, fracking is destructive to the environment as it contains many chemicals.
Natural gas is lighter than air and dissipates in an accident, which makes it safer than flammable liquid
fuel. Most models of natural gas cars get the same miles per gallon. Most spend a lot less filling up the
tank using natural gas than anything else. Natural gas costs about half the price of gasoline or diesel.
Another plus is the need to change the car s oil is less frequent because of the cleanliness of the fuel. A
regular gasoline powered car averages 32 miles per gallon while a natural gas powered car averages
43 miles per gallon. The natural gas used to fuel vehicles is a certain kind ... Show more content on

Natural gas has been found to be so much safer to use to heat a house than with an electric heater.
Heating a home with natural gas is much safer than heating a home with electric. Electric heaters are
known for catching fire, sparking, and burning. The most common thing electric heaters are known for
is shorting out and causing the electric sockets to burn. Electric heaters are not always the warmest
things they take a very long time to heat homes even if they re not all that small. Natural gas heaters
take less time to heat any sized home and heats the home almost 100% warmer. Natural gas is 120 to
140 degrees warmer than any other heat, can be used to heat water, and to heat your pool outside.
There are many reasons to love natural gas, it s easier to install and transport, its warmer, cooks faster,
and is better to use as fuel. One thing no one is told when natural gas is used is if it leaks and no one
knows the chance of getting carbon monoxide poisoning is very

Should Orcas Should Not Be Allowed In Captivity Essay
Have you ever gone and seen orcas( killer whales) at a park like sea world. Do you really know how
they feel. Sure you might be happy, but are they? At sea world they have not been taken orcas from
wild, but instead they have been over breeding the ones they have already have. That is a lot of over
breeding and in which can hurt the orcas. Orcas should not be kept in captivity because they have
shorter life spans, it gives them health problems, and when forced to live in captivity they become
killing machines. Orcas should not be kept in captivity because they have shorter life spans.Orcas in

In-Store Merchandise Theft Case
Over a period of a year we have notice a rise in missing merchandise, which has had an impact on our
quarterly sales. Because of our continued loss of profit due to the theft of in store merchandise, the
company will begin reasonable doubt searches and utilizing video surveillance in order to prosecute
these criminals. ACME has continually been the target of in store merchandise theft creating a profit
loss and an increased safety risk to its employees due to its lack of video surveillance in and around its
stores, and its unwillingness to prosecute the thieves who have been damaging to the company s profit

Ethnographic Paper: Differences in Study Habits by Gender at King Library
A library, by definition, is a place set apart to contain books, periodicals, and other material for
reading, viewing, listening, study, or reference, as a room, set of rooms, or building where books may
be read or borrowed (Merriam Webster). However, for students at Miami University, the word library
may have different connotations. After asking several fellow students the first word that comes to
mind when someone talks about the library, the responses I received varied from the expected books ,
study , and focus , to more personal emotions such as sad and depressed . King Library, named for
longtime library director and benefactor Edgar Weld King, has been the largest library and main
scholarly hub at Miami University since 1966. Open 24 hours a day, you are bound to see students
studying, socializing, or even sleeping at any given hour of the day in King. Comprised of four floors,
including the basement, students are expected to meet the noise level expectations of each floor;
students should anticipate a more relaxed and loud experience in the basement whereas the third floor
maintains a level of almost absolute silence. For the past several weeks, I have been observing
students and their studying habits in the basement and café area of King Library. In particular, I have
been interested in how the gender of the student has an

How To Teach Literacy
When it comes to teaching literacy, there can be some confusion because there are several things this
one little word encompasses. Literacy has long been known as the ability to read and write but it has
recently expanded to include things like computer literacy and competence of other things as well.
For most, the process of becoming literate begins in early childhood. It starts by parents and siblings
and sometimes even babysitters, nannies or teachers who speak to and around an individual,
introducing them to the language of their people. Sometimes this talking to takes place in the form of
reading aloud, which is a great way to instill a love of reading, but still does not teach the child how to
read.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Research Paper
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of
Western music (Sadie , 1) was an Austrian composer born in Salzburg on January 27, 1756 to Leopold
Mozart and Anna Maria, née Pertl, the former of whom was an experienced music teacher and a minor
composer in his own right. Wolfgang Amadeus was the youngest of seven children, though only he
and his older sister also named Anna Maria, survived infancy. A child prodigy, Mozart was often
caught observing the keyboard lessons given to his sister, and by the age of three could be seen:
picking out thirds, which he was ever striking, and his pleasure showed that it sounded good.... In the
fourth year of his age his father, for a game as it were, began to teach him a few minuets and pieces at
the clavier.... He could play it faultlessly and with the greatest delicacy, and keeping exactly in time....

Italian Unification Dbq Essay
In order to restore France after the Napoleonic Era, the Quadruple Alliance, Russia, Prussia, Austria,
and Great Britain, held a meeting called the Congress of Vienna in order to establish peace between
countries. The four countries decided that creating borders within Europe and receiving compensation
in the form of territory would be an effective reminder of the pain France had caused during its
revolution. After decades of dealing with borders placed by the Quadruple Alliance, the inhabitants of
Italy wanted a more unified peninsula. Although many leaders of Europe proposed ideas for fixing this
problem, many of them such as Cavour and Napoleon III had ulterior motives. The unification of Italy
took such a long time because its politicians were not being honest about what they actually wanted.
One of the most influential political figures in Europe during this time was Count Camillo Benso di
Cavour, a politician from Piedmont Sardinia who had very small and realistic goals for Italy (Hearder
40). To him, there was no hope for a democratic revolution across Italy, and he viewed the settlement
from the Congress of Vienna as arbitrary [and] defective (Doc. 4). He only ... Show more content on

(Doc. 10). The rest of the map remained the same. Cavour resigned out of pure frustration (Hearder
149). In a letter to an Italian friend, Napoleon wrote, I do not wish to see Italy united. I want only
independence. Unity would bring danger to me... (Doc 11). Despite all of the bitter resentment,
Cavour was pleasantly surprised when the northern and central states of Italy called for a fusion, and
he returned to power in 1860 (McKay et al

Vertical Datum
A surface or level which is regarded as a base from which other levels can be counted. For example,
sea level is often used as a datum level against which the height of land and depth of the sea bed are
measured. A geodetic datum is an abstract coordinate system with a reference surface (such as sea
level) that serves to provide known locations to begin surveys and create maps. In this way, datum act
similar to starting points when you give someone directions. For instance, when you want to tell
someone how to get to your house, you give them a starting point that they know, like a crossroads or
a building address. Geodesists and surveyors use datum to create starting or reference points for
floodplain maps, property boundaries, construction surveys, levee design, or other work requiring
accurate coordinates that are consistent with one another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Horizontal datum measure positions (latitude and longitude) on the surface of the Earth, while vertical
datum are used to measure land elevations and water depths. The horizontal datum can be accessed
and used through a collection of specific points on the Earth whose latitude and longitude have been
accurately determined by NOAA s National Geodetic Survey. One application of the horizontal datum
is monitoring the movement of the Earth s crust. This type of monitoring is often used in places like
the San Andreas Fault in California where many earthquakes occur. The vertical datum is similarly
realized through a collection of specific points on the Earth with known heights either above or below
a nationally defined reference surface (e.g., mean sea level). Geodetic vertical datum are generally
used to express land elevations. However, water level datum are a slightly different vertical datum,
and are used as a reference level to which bathymetric soundings are referenced for nautical charts.
Conversion between these two can be done through geodetic surveys at tide

Internal Communication At Radio 21
Introduction
Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge that
creates connections between employees and responsibilities. In fact, effective internal communication
leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be only a positive
aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal Communication, n.d.).
Radio 21
Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a small
radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry, 2004). It is
primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements, while it broadcasts music hits,
entertaining content and news bulletins (Psychogiopoulou, 2012). Furthermore, the slogan of Radio
21, Station of fun , is easy to remember and communicates the uniqueness of its company in a fairly
straightforward, focused and clear manner.
Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other
private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss in
market share (Rezultatul Studiului de Audienta Radio, 2008). Therefore, this is the major reason why
the company s current short term objective is to reach the Top 5 most listened radio stations in ...

ethical principle of veracity. The registered professional nurse, in facilitating the ethical decision
making process, can utilize different frameworks and models [through steps] (NYSNA, 2011). An
alternative to address the ethical issue, the nurse must first identify the issue at hand. Andrea, who was
a minor, was diagnosis with cervical cancer and upon completion of her assessment it was also noted
that Andrea was a participant in sex parties. The ethical dilemma lies in whether the nurse should
break confidentiality to inform her parents of the medical findings and the subjective information
given by Andrea. The second step is to obtain the facts, which in Andrea s case, is supported by
medical assessment, laboratory studies, diagnosis, and Andrea s own verbal statement. Next, the nurse
must evaluate alternative actions plans to handle and help resolve the dilemma. In this case, the nurse
should also consult the hospital case worker, ethics committee, nursing code of ethics, and hospital
guidelines and policies and procedures to help with the final decision or action plan. The ethics
committee would aid as case consultant, identifying

The Mayan languages of Guatemala and Mexico can be called a linguistic area (Study Guide, 2014, p.

there would have been spoken side by side for many generations (ibid). Due to long term contact
between speech communities in this linguistic area, bilingualism and language mixing in the speeches
of the close knit natives are sure to have existed due to demographic movements. (Winford, 2003, p.

However, this is not the case with the Mayan speech communities. It is evident from the data that
casual borrowing took place. The natives of Guatemala and Mexico appeared to have borrowed lexical
items in relation to their occupations. For example, some of them were farmers and house servants.
For the purpose of daily discourse, borrowed words were mainly common nouns that named a type of
animal, a bird and items that the Mayan FIU languages may not have had a word or exact translations
for. Social standing in the community was seen by the Mayans as an important relationship between
the Spanish and in order to address a female who was a non native, borrowing was essential. Religion

is Desiree; she is formed throughout the many situations in the short story. She is fought by the
antagonist, Armand Aubigny. He is described, as a cruel, arrogant man who, likely, would never admit
he was wrong. At the end of this story Armand s assumptions and inferences catch up to him. An
inference is nothing more than a guess, an assumption. Inferring does not always get us in trouble and
it would almost be impossible to not assume throughout an entire day. Unfortunately, making some
inferences can have serious consequences. There are is a lot of foreshadowing throughout the short
story that tells us that Armand has black ancestry. There is a key part of foreshadowing, there is
another form of foreshadowing when Madame Valmonde says, the child has grown, has changed. This
is another monstrous form of foreshadowing, that there is something different about this child and that
we will find out what is different later in the story.
It had never hit Desiree that her baby was black until one day, The baby, half naked, lay asleep...One

Hamlet Movie Adaptation
Hamlet was written in 1609 by William Shakespeare; Shakespeare is one of the greatest poets and
playwrights. Since the original performance of Hamlet, there have been many movie adaptations.
Some of the many well known film directors for these movies are Kenneth Branagh, Franco Zeffirelli
and Sir Laurence Olivier. From the above film directors, I will compare and contrast Zeffirelli s
production of Hamlet to the original Shakespeare s play Hamlet.
Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet is one of the sound versions of Hamlet. It was produced and starred Mel
Gibson in the late 1900s. Comparing the film version of Hamlet to the play, Zeffirelli has made
noticeable changes in the movie including some clothing choices and characters reactions. He also
altered and cut lines from the original Shakespeare play.
Shakespeare centralized the theme of revenge in the ghost scene in Act 1 Scene 5 with the use of
literary devices. In the movie adaptation, Zeffirelli used a different approach to portray the theme,
without the use of any literary devices. He instead used costume choices, characters reactions and
different word choices.
Zeffirelli used a creative way to portray Hamlet s father wearing a white shirt with black pants instead
of Shakespeare s choice of armour. He used this to show how Hamlet s father would look in 90 s
society. He made Hamlet wear black clothing throughout the movie to show that Hamlet was the only
one who cared and grieved throughout his mother s marriage and until his own death.
Zeffirelli changed the characters reactions throughout the scenes. One of the character changes is
during Hamlet s father s ghost soliloquy. Instead of his father being projected as angry towards his
wife and his brother in the movie, he uses a calm tone. In the movie while Hamlet was listening to his
father, he should have looked angry and upset. Instead he had no emotions while listening to his
father. In the movie, he should have an angry tone and should be eager to plot revenge on who killed
his father, instead he did not talk throughout his father s death story. Zeffirelli chose this so that the
audience will wait and anticipate when Hamlet s anger will grow and his reaction during the scene.

Bodily Injury Of A Roofer
The roofing contractor has one of the most hazardous of jobs. The main risk is the most obvious:
falling. Beyond physical injury, the roofer faces yet another risk, which is liability for actions or lack
of actions which cause physical or financial harm to others. These include:
Bodily injury. The roofer works with tools at a height. This places people below at risk of injury from
a falling object. There are seemingly countless ways that injury can occur. The injury doesn t even
have to happen at the work site. A client (or anyone) could be injured at the roofer s place of business.
Property damage. Property damage can occur as a direct consequence of the roofing work, such as
dropping something on a car or breaking a window with a ladder.

The Discovery Of A Business Model Innovation
The disruptive business models are those that surprisingly manage top to make new markets and
disrupt the existing markets. To discover these innovations, it requires a level of innovativeness and
open mindedness that will enable one to create new influential innovations. The discovery of a
business model innovation usually starts with customer value propositions and customer segment. The
business model brings about logic and provides vital data that demonstrates how a company can
formulate itself and provide valuable input to customers. Furthermore, it facilitates the setup of
revenue allocation, the costs and the various profit margins that the business delivers (Colovic,
2012).Furthermore, these different issues are also interrelated and, therefore, offer a competitive
advantage besides bringing in huge profit margins. Business models also provide a business design
and outlay that defines how the particular company can convert the various payments received into
profits, and help the company to excel as an innovation and as a business model, as well as to
understand the different business design options according to the customer needs and the various
technological advances. To develop a successful business model, one has to ensure that the
competitive advantage of the company remains a permanent part of it and that this model is difficult to
duplicate and redo. The business model brings about the financial and organizational architecture of
the particular business. The

A Comparison Of Genesis And Genesis
Many stories and fables have been written and passed down from generation to generation about the
great flood recorded in Genesis. However, critics can reason all they want because God created the
world, and the creation is not a debatable topic. The Genesis account of the flood came first; therefore,
Gilgamesh, Ovid s Metamorphoses, and The Korans accounts of the flood are all inspired by Genesis.
The book of Genesis inspired the authors of these works of literature to write alterations of their own
stories. Gilgamesh, Metamorphoses, and The Koran are all variations of the account chronicled in
Genesis. First, there are numerous similarities between the flood in Gilgamesh and the biblical flood
account found in Genesis chapters six through nine. Foremost, two righteous men are selected to build
an ark because of an imminent flood. In Genesis 6:14, God instructs Noah to make thee an ark of
gopher wood, and in Gilgamesh, an assembly of gods send Utnapishtim to abandon [his] home and
build a boat (Gilgamesh 55). In Genesis and in Gilgamesh, both floods are sent because of the
wickedness of man (King James Version, Gen. 6.5). Also, God and the gods in Gilgamesh both regret
destroying the world by flood. Nevertheless, there are also many differences in the two stories.
Although the two heroes both sent out birds to find land, they sent out different varieties of birds.
Noah sent out a raven and three doves while Utnapishtim released a raven, dove, and a swallow. The
blessings that the men receive after the flood were also different. The gods in Gilgamesh grant
Utnapishtim eternal life while Noah s blessing was to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth
(King James Version Gen. 9.1). The corresponding similarities and differences in the two stories prove
that the events in Genesis inspired the flood account in Gilgamesh. Next, Genesis inspired Ovid to
write Metamorphoses. In Metamorphoses, Deucalion, like Noah, were both righteous men there was
no better man than [Deucalion] (Ovid 1127). Unlike some flood stories, Metamorphoses does in fact
tell of a universal flood because there was no other land, the sea had drowned it all (Ovid 1127).
Similar to Genesis, man s sins cause the flood

The most famous defamation case, which still sets precedent in today s cases, is New York Times v.
Sullivan (1964). New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) is the leading case on the question of defamation
liability for media defendants. The case, heard before the Supreme Court, declared that public officials
and figures could not recover for an alleged defamation unless they can prove both that the statement
was false, and was made with actual malice. This decision prevents the news media from reporting on
false or slanderous stories. It protects the country s public icons seeing they are almost always in the
spotlight. In addition to defamation hindering media, obscenity and pornography on the net have
placed limitations on what some websites may provide in terms of content.
Under Miller v. California (1973) in order for material to be found obscene by a court of law, the
material must appeal to the prurient interest, as judged against local community standards. The
material must also depict or describe sexual conduct (as defined by applicable state law) in a patently
offensive or indecent way and lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. These
standards apply equally in the context of the Internet as they do in ordinary books and magazines.
Where material is found to be obscene, the First Amendment does not apply. This decision

Cord Blood Case Study
Did you know that cord blood can treat over 80 medical conditions and diseases?
Cord blood refers to residual blood that s present in the placenta and umbilical cord immediately after
a baby is born. This blood can be gathered and stored to treat various types of illnesses and medical
conditions.
When harvested immediately after the birth of a baby, cord blood has a number of stem cells that can
take the form of other cell types in the body such as fat, liver, muscle, nerve, and blood cells.
Here are five types of medical conditions the harvested blood can treat.
1. Cancers

Television s Responsibility in Violent Children Essay
With school shootings becoming a frequent occurrence in our country, we have to ask the question on
whether or not the violence produced in children has been influenced by his or her surroundings.
Could the violence seen in television shows lead the way to these actions? With these violent
situations growing we have to start looking into this issue. TV programs should be held moderately
responsible for the violent actions of children because they promote negative influences. When we
think of violence, we automatically picture guns and knives being used to kill people. Although this is
a part of violence, it s not the only way a violent situation can arise. Violence can be any harm done to
a person through physical contact. Along with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With these being two of the many factors playing a role, some will argue that television can t be solely
responsible. On TV we can flip through hundreds of channels and when we see something that is
intriguing, we will stop and stare at the motions until we figure out what that is. As mentioned by
Steven Johnson, The morals of the stories have grown darker and more ambiguous (279). With darker
stories, there are frequently more violent actions. For young kids, when an action or horror scene
comes within viewing point, they will stop and stare in awe of how cool these scenes are. Having
violence trigger fascination in the mind is a slippery slope when it comes to children and adolescents
because their brains are still developing. The process of growing up involves learning what is right
with positive outcomes and what is wrong with negative outcomes. If we feed their minds with
violence then that is what they will develop to know and in return, that is what will come out through
their actions. Most adults know how to separate fantasy scenarios with real life situations through a
filter, while younger kids have yet to develop this ability. This filter is crucial in knowing what is real
life and what is fake. If a child has yet to understand how to separate the two, then he or she will be
more likely to blur the lines of reality and fantasy and assume that what is on TV is how situations
happen in day to day life. With

The Model Of Emergent Leadership
Tuvia Bielski:
The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a situation
where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ? Some people
may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born with the necessary
qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership, like many other
character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends on how you define
leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range from promoting what is
right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When you are a leader you gain a
certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something. Therefore, when it s finished you
get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this.
Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The movie
unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His
characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was then.
Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in.

A Report On The United States s Nationwide Prison Population
According to [http://felonvoting.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=000286] only two states
allow felons to vote while in prison. This is quite alarming, especially considering that America s
nationwide prison population, since 1980, has increased by nearly 800 percent. This increase is due to
harsher punishments for non violent crimes, resulting in more than 1.57 million inmates being
imprisoned in federal, state, and local prisons and jails at any given time. In addition, an estimated 12
million Americans cycle through the U.S judicial system for sentences less than one year in length,
raising the estimated overall imprisonment rate, at any given date, to 2.4 million. These inmates, in
addition to those barred from voting due to past felony convictions, make up approximately 2.5
percent of the nation s voting population, according to a report by The Sentencing Project.
[http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/06/12/the real felony denying prisoners the right to

because it allows them to begin to make personal choices again and it is a basic right established by
our nation s founding fathers. The U.S. criminal justice system was designed to reform individuals

William Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale
Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale can be viewed as a tragicomedy that draws upon elements of As You
Like It and Othello. Similar themes of trust, love, treachery, infidelity and tyranny are found
throughout all three plays. While The Winter s Tale and As You Like It share similar happy endings,
Othello shares more concepts with The Winter s Tale, but ends with a much more tragic ending. Both
Leontes and Othello have severe trust issues and accuse their wives of having affairs. In these plays,
both kings end up being incorrect and therefore produce really dramatic story lines. In Othello, Iago
plants the seed of jealousy in Othello s mind, as opposed to in The Winter s Tale, in which Leontes s
own paranoia feeds this idea in his mind to the point where he orders his wife and baby to be sent
away. As You Like It is a play which encompasses themes of love and issues of brotherhood and
violation of primogeniture. The conflicts raised at the beginning of the play are resolved at the end of
the play just like in The Winter s Tale. Act V of The Winter s Tale draws elements from the other plays
when the truth is finally revealed about the innocent wives and when there is a happy ending in the
plays other than Othello. The main difference between these two plays, is that Othello ends with
tragedy and multiple deaths, and The Winter s Tale ends with family unity and happiness. The Winter
s Tale is labeled as a tragic comedy because the first three acts of the play feel much like a

Fishless Oceans Have you ever wondered about what lives deep within the ocean? With the earth
composed of 71% of ocean, there live many different species of marine life such as salmon, tuna,
sharks, and other aquatic animals. Because of the healthy proteins and fats such as omega 3 fatty acids
fish provide, fish consumption has greatly increased over the past few decades. With fish as an
alternative to red meats such as cows, pigs, and chicken, it has provided many benefits for our health
such as regulate blood clotting, and provide significant amounts of iron, and good omega fatty acids
that the human body cannot produce on its own. Fishing has been used to meet consumer demand and

For example, one commercial fishing method that has significantly increased the amount of bycatch
and destruction of marine ecosystems is known as bottom trawling. This popular commercial fishing
technique was first introduced in New Zealand when fishers began searching for shrimp and other
deep sea species. Trawling is now being used to catch a range of species, such as shrimp, hoki, ling,
hake, squid, and halibut. Bottom trawling involves one or two fishing vessels to tow a large net. As
these large nets drag through the bottom seafloor, nets can be towed for at least two hours at a speed of
a high of four knots. With these weighted nets dragging along the seafloor, everything in its path is
either disturbed, damaged, or completely destroyed. Although bottom trawling may be a more labor
saving method to catching large loads of shrimp and other deep sea life, there have been occurrences
in which the amount of bycatch discarded exceeds the amount of target fish caught. For instance, in
2007, Belize only landed 19 metric tons of shrimp and likely discarded about 76 to 190 metric tons of
other marine life. From the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Kelleher stated
that bottom trawling has been one of the most destructive ways to catch fish, and is responsible for up
to half of all discarded fish and marine life worldwide. Not only has bottom trawling led to
overfishing but it also has disrupted coral reefs, and many other seafloor habitats. As habitat
destruction from these fishing techniques worsen, fish populations continue to be threatened and

the truth due to the information I found in the article The JFK Assassination .
See, here s what I think is that Oswald was a part of a larger conspiracy than we know, but in this
conspiracy he is innocent. Also instead of Oswald it was the government, a bar owner(Jack Ruby), and
the mob did it because how would someone be calm and have no sweat if he did shoot Kennedy? In
addition, be on the 6th floor, then get on the 4th floor in ninety seconds and still have regular
breathing?
Now you might be saying, What why would they have? . There s an explanation which is that the
government didn t like Kennedy. I think this because he made the mob angry and the government didn
t like that he did. Now Jack Ruby had connections to police and they work for the ... Show more

You might agree, disagree, or even be more confused than before. Either way I just had to take my
freedom of speech to make this assassination more into reality unlike the government. This is my
explanation and this should be clearing up some of the questions or maybe leaves us with more
questions. I even still have a few questions, but my main question is if my theory is correct that they
government was involved, then why didn t they just kill him along time before if they did want him
dead? I also can answer my question which is that they wanted the right time, in front of a huge crowd
to keep it a mystery to everyone

Cultural Differences In Two Kinds And Catch The Moon
Stories are the same in many ways, although, one reads them for their differences and the differences
are what matters. The two short stories, Two Kinds and Catch the Moon are polar opposites and
exactly the same simultaneously. Their cultures are extremely different but those differences are what
make the theme for the stories, which is to overcome a struggle in life you have to be devoted to
overcoming it, applicable the same way
The short story Catch the Moon has a theme that is impacted by its surroundings and cultural setting.
Catch the Moon is about a boy named Louis who goes through the tragedy along with his father of his
mother dying. He then starts becoming a delinquent, however after seeing a girl, he was devoted to
impress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cultural difference in the story is probably the largest contrast of the stories. In Two Kinds the
mother out of tradition is strict with her daughter making her do things that she thinks are the best for
her, while on the other hand in Catch the Moon the father lets his son do as he pleases but still wishes
the best for him. Culture wise the stories are opposite however on the side of theme they share many
similarities. Louis from Catch the Moon was trying to persevere on and move forward with life after
his mother died, on the other hand the daughter from Two Kinds was also trying to move on and do
different things and succeed, they aren t identical however they share similar qualities such as being
able to persevere through hard times. Each of their cultures also impacted the theme in the same way,
while one story was laid back and the other way strict and harsh they still in the end came of with
similar points to be put across. Each story compared shows that people from different worlds can have
the same problems and be impacted by events the same way as others from other places can

Emergency Department Overcrowding
Today, overcrowding affects the viability of emergency departments across this county (Derlet, 2002).
Emergency department overcrowding refers to an excess of patients in the treatment areas exceeding
ED capacity. According to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO), over one half of all sentinel event cases of morbidity and mortality resulting from delays in
treatment occur in hospital emergency departments. Emergency department overcrowding has been
cited as a contributing factor in 31% of these sentinel event cases. (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003).
Consequently, overcrowding affects persons who suffer an unexpected severe illness or injury
requiring time sensitive emergency treatment. Therefore, patients must ... Show more content on

Several surveys among health practitioners and nurses have revealed satisfactory usage results. The
respondents stated the system was simple to use, reduced the subjectivity of the triage decision and
was more accurate than other triage systems (Singer, Infante, Oppenheimer, West Siegel, 2012). The
rapid identification of patients that need immediate attention is one of the benefits of the emergency
severity index. The system focuses on the fast and accurate sorting of patients in cases where there is
shortage of adequate resources for treatment of emergency patients. The emergency severity index
(ESI) uses a five level categorization process that is used to rapidly sort emergency patients into five
groups that are based on clinically meaningful differences and projected resource needs available.
Another positive outcome of the emergency severity index is the improved flow of patients through
the emergency department as patients categorized as level one and two can be immediately taken to
the treatment area for rapid evaluation and treatment. Patients determined by the triage nurse to be
lower acuity can safely wait to be attended to after the higher acuity level patients are cared for. There
are other benefits of the system that include determination of the patients who do not need to be seen

My Experience With The End Game
As I sat looking at the final, Dr. Van Tassell gave, I tried to decide what he was up to with this
assignment. What is the benefit, the end game? He always had something up his sleeve. So, I thought:
Is what we answer going to be our real final grade or is this for his own gain? Maybe both? I still
haven t figured it out. Therefore, I must press onward to the actual assignment. Here it is: I believe I
earned an A in INTS 2630; although, in the estimation of my class grades, I earned a B. I believe I
earned an A, because of my mastery and understanding of the course material. The evidence can be
found in the content of my course work and the ability to move forward in my major with the concepts
and ideas attained in the class. Throughout the semester, I found myself drowning in my daily to do
list and unsure of what the bigger picture could be. I had assignments in each one of classes every
single day we met, alongside a full time job, pledging a sorority (another full time job) and an almost
twice daily commute. All of the work forced me to utilize every second I could spare. I did school
work at work and, really, wherever else possible. Honestly, some days, the class work had been
finished on time and other days, it had not. In INTS 2630, the updated copies of my essays did not
always make it on the commute with me. Sometimes, they were simply not updated or worked on. As
for the readings, they had always been completed in time for class. I found a way to use my

The Rise and Demise of Vaudeville Essay
As far as the development and demise of vaudeville, there is much to be said. But to truly understand
its rise and fall, first one must understand what vaudeville is. Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of
entertainment that was popular in the United States from the early 1880s until the mid 1930s. Each
performance consisted of a series of unrelated acts grouped together on a common bill. Types of acts
included classical musicians, dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, impersonators, acrobats,
illustrated songs, jugglers, scenes from plays, athletes, lecturing celebrities, and movies.
Vaudeville developed from many sources, including the concert saloon, freak shows, dime museums,
and literary burlesque. Deemed the heart of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although vaudeville seemed to be a long standing staple in our society, like all good things, it must
come to an end. the decline and death of vaudeville appears certain, clear and inevitable. From the
performers point of view, there was no perspective other than the here and now of their lives. Each
day seemed to differ little from the previous, and speculation about the future was, as ever, informed
by hear say and past experience. As an array of specialty acts, vaudeville was an enterprise without
name that, over many years, could be found in the marketplaces of Asia and Europe. It eventually
spread around the world to the farthest corners of Australia and Africa. Performers worked when and
where they could, quite often in undesired locations. A certain cliché attached to performing in bed
and breakfast s, saloons and public houses after their owners added stages and audience pits set apart
from the tavern. It soon became quite taxing for performers to not only live the same shows everyday,
but to move on and find other work after they were no longer needed in vaudeville shows. Still, this
was not the only reason for the demise of vaudeville, although it played a large part. The largest
contributing factor was the invention of the motion picture in the 1930 s. There was no longer a need
for people to be entertained by a comical, musical, circus style side show. Now they found a more
intimate and fascinating way of enjoying a performance. The first

Microscopic Hair Analysis Cases
According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the FBI, the Innocence Project, and the National
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), over 90 percent of all microscopic hair analysis
cases performed by scientists working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation have turned up with
erroneous statements. 26 out of 28 analysts provided false testimony or incorrect information was
submitted on laboratory reports during trials (Cates, Dominguez, Kortan, Pierce, 2015). Cases that had
not had mitochondrial DNA in their time have falsely accused and/or wrongfully convicted victims
due to the misinterpretation of data caused by an agent trying to corroborate evidence whether it was
their personal choice or by someone who is of a higher rank. The lab analysts would corroborate
evidence by trying to make certain information fit into trial or by simply trying to pinpoint a crime on
a defendant due to their bias. In each of those cases, an FBI agent lied under ... Show more content on

Many jurisdictions still only rely on microscopic hair analysis and prefer not to use mitochondrial
DNA as a method for testing evidence because it is said to be too expensive and is not thorough
enough. What many people forget is that not one specific method of testing evidence is 100 percent
accurate. There have been errors made in fingerprint identification, bite mark analysis, and in
microscopic hair comparisons, just like the FBI have made. According to a review article done by the
FBI, they have developed and implemented mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) analysis in conjunction
with probative hair analysis because it is the most effective protocol for the forensic examination of
hair, and it provides a more meaningful association than either technique used alone (FBI/DOJ

  • 2. My Experiences With Disability And Disability My Experiences with Disability Introduction... Disability is prominent in our society and it is important that we live and work in communities that are inclusive to those with limitations, and provide necessary supports to them. As a young adult I have learned and experienced more about disability than when I was younger. I have gained the most knowledge about disability through university classes, but there have also been times growing up where I encountered individuals with various disabilities, either through sports or school. Before I learned about disability and was aware of inclusive and accessible spaces, it was not something I spent much time thinking or asking questions about. Once I was educated on what it means to have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this regard, it is beneficial for a child to receive education on what it means for a person to have a disability and how others can respond appropriately and not with fear or negatively. To explain disability, it is important to consider 3 different definitions, disability, impairment and handicap. As well, when teaching younger kids about disability it would be beneficial if they were taught how to be accepting of those who act, look or talk differently than they do. On the other hand, a child may not recognize a PWD to be physically or mentally different from them, therefore they would continue to treat them as everyone else. This mind set is helpful when thinking about disability, because whether or not you perceive someone to have a different functioning level than you, it is vital to treat them with the same respect as everyone else. As I grew up I continued to have more interactions with PWD as well as ask more questions about the concept of disability. I remember participating in recreational sports with other kids that had differences, such as a child with a cochlear implant, or a child with an intellectual disability. I never remembered these kids being discriminated against or excluded in games, but I also was not overly attentive to how others treated them, or the differences in their playing ability. Other experiences I had with kids with disability, includes one young girl who went to my elementary school, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Christian Beliefs Of The World Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of his beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really trying to spread Christianity or was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector? Charlemagne Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis, had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family s relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his mother and the monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy, music and the bible (Graves, 2016). History books barely begin to touch on his love of education and all manners of learning. He was also quite the outdoorsman and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cnooc Case Study CNOOC: BUILDING A WORLD CLASS ENERGY COMPANY CASE ANALYSIS By Becoming a world class energy company does have its privileges and requires a significant amount of commitment from a thriving leadership team. Fu Chengyu, the President of China National Offshore Oil Corporation joined the company over 30 years ago at its inception. He shared his vision of having a world class energy company, by improving value creation capability, low carbon competiveness, and sustainability. After Fu Chengyu was appointed President in 2003, the company experienced what some people would say supernatural success . The company developed from a domestic market to more than 20 countries and regions overseas, causing tremendous growth in revenues. By ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A major emphasis was placed on Human Resources in an effort to set up a more efficient HR system, focus on organizational development and decision making systems that would support the company s growth and development. Managers could be promoted or demoted. Organizational hierarchies were no longer set in stone but rather flexible so that talented employees could have room for advancement and people were placed in positions according to their skills and abilities. By 2004, CNOOC enhanced their global vision by focusing on four strategies: synergistic development, technology driven growth, development of a world class work force and cost competiveness. Restructuring continued and overseas expansion remained a priority while constantly looking for targets with rich natural resources. In 2005, it encountered political barriers when attempting to acquire California base Unocal with 18.5 billion cash. Politicians were opposed to CNOOC s efforts to win Unocal claiming that the state owned Oil Company was acting as a proxy for the Chinese government seeking to secure U.S energy assets. (Bower, Dai, Shih Ta Chen 2012). Fu wanted to shift his focus in their acquisition strategy by cooperating with others to acquire overseas assets instead of going after the big companies. • 5. Gel Electrophoresis Lab Report Title Gel Filtration and SDS Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (P.A.G.E) Gel Filtration, SDS PAGE Objective The purpose of this lab was to separate a mixture of Hemoglobin, BSA, Blue Dextran, and yellow food coloring by size into fractions using gel filtration. Also simple non quantitative assay was performed to determine the fractions that contained proteins. Another objective was to analyze the protein content of being BSA or Hemoglobin and estimate the molecular weight of the proteins collected. Methods Gel Filtration: A glass column with inner diameter of 1 cm, was packed with Bio Gel P 100 (BIO RAD) beads suspended in equilibrium buffer of 20 mM phosphate buffer with a pH of 7.0 7.4. The height of the total content was kept at 5cm. The sample mix with total volume of .1ml contained 2 mg/ml Blue Dextran (blue, 2 MDa), 5 µl yellow food coloring (yellow, ~500 Da), 2 mg/ml Hemoglobin (red), 2 mg/ml of BSA in phosphate buffer. As soon as the sample mix was added to the column, 0.25 ml (~2 drops) of fractions were collected in the Eppendorf tubes until all the colored bands eluted the column because it was assumed that the colored band represented protein content. Approximately 1 µl of each of the fractions collected were spotted on to nitrocellulose filter using capillary pipet. After the filter was dried, it was incubated in 50% methanol for 5 minutes then it was incubated in Amido Black (0.1% amido black 10B in 30% methanol) for 5 minutes. Next, the filter was ... • 6. Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide In The United States Assisted suicide is the suicide of a terminally ill patient, achieved by using a prescribed drug from a doctor for that specific purpose. It is legal in only six states in the United States of America including: Oregon, Montana, Washington, Colorado, Vermont, and California. Countries such as Germany, Japan, and Switzerland have legalized assisted suicide in past years. It has been disputed for many years and continues to be a controversial issue whether physicians should be authorized to end an individual s life with their prescription and if this should be done legally. Additionally, the term euthanasia does not mean the same thing as assisted suicide. Often people confuse these processes when they differ immensely. Despite this, they remain similar in their resulting death of a human life through the help of a physician. Euthanasia is the direct killing of a patient by a physician by means of lethal injection and it is completely controlled by the doctor. On the other hand, patients in assisted suicide have full control over the process that leads to their death. For this reason, procedures of these sorts must be eliminated as medical treatments and should not be authorized. Consequently, physician assisted suicide has been proven to lead to euthanasia in some cases. Assisted suicide should become illegal in all fifty states of the United States of America because it raises religious concern, endorses legalized murder, puts vulnerable people at risk of abuse, and ... • 7. Fracking Vs Natural Gas Essay Fracking is good for United States because it is used for fueling vehicles, cooking, and heating houses and offices; unfortunately, fracking is destructive to the environment as it contains many chemicals. Natural gas is lighter than air and dissipates in an accident, which makes it safer than flammable liquid fuel. Most models of natural gas cars get the same miles per gallon. Most spend a lot less filling up the tank using natural gas than anything else. Natural gas costs about half the price of gasoline or diesel. Another plus is the need to change the car s oil is less frequent because of the cleanliness of the fuel. Study Habits By Gender At The Library Kendall Nelson ATH 175 Dr. Peterson November 20, 2015 Ethnographic Paper: Differences in Study Habits by Gender at King Library A library, by definition, is a place set apart to contain books, periodicals, and other material for reading, viewing, listening, study, or reference, as a room, set of rooms, or building where books may be read or borrowed (Merriam Webster). However, for students at Miami University, the word library may have different connotations. After asking several fellow students the first word that comes to mind when someone talks about the library, the responses I received varied from the expected books , study , and focus , to more personal emotions such as sad and depressed . King Library, named for longtime library director and benefactor Edgar Weld King, has been the largest library and main scholarly hub at Miami University since 1966. Open 24 hours a day, you are bound to see students studying, socializing, or even sleeping at any given hour of the day in King. Comprised of four floors, including the basement, students are expected to meet the noise level expectations of each floor; students should anticipate a more relaxed and loud experience in the basement whereas the third floor maintains a level of almost absolute silence. Literacy has long been known as the ability to read and write but it has recently expanded to include things like computer literacy and competence of other things as well. It starts by parents and siblings and sometimes even babysitters, nannies or teachers who speak to and around an individual, introducing them to the language of their people. • 13. Italian Unification Dbq Essay In order to restore France after the Napoleonic Era, the Quadruple Alliance, Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Great Britain, held a meeting called the Congress of Vienna in order to establish peace between countries. The four countries decided that creating borders within Europe and receiving compensation in the form of territory would be an effective reminder of the pain France had caused during its revolution. After decades of dealing with borders placed by the Quadruple Alliance, the inhabitants of Italy wanted a more unified peninsula. Although many leaders of Europe proposed ideas for fixing this problem, many of them such as Cavour and Napoleon III had ulterior motives. The unification of Italy took such a long time because its politicians were not being honest about what they actually wanted. One of the most influential political figures in Europe during this time was Count Camillo Benso di Cavour, a politician from Piedmont Sardinia who had very small and realistic goals for Italy (Hearder 40). To him, there was no hope for a democratic revolution across Italy, and he viewed the settlement from the Congress of Vienna as arbitrary [and] defective (Doc. 4). He only ... For example, sea level is often used as a datum level against which the height of land and depth of the sea bed are measured. A geodetic datum is an abstract coordinate system with a reference surface (such as sea level) that serves to provide known locations to begin surveys and create maps. In this way, datum act similar to starting points when you give someone directions. For instance, when you want to tell someone how to get to your house, you give them a starting point that they know, like a crossroads or a building address. Geodesists and surveyors use datum to create starting or reference points for floodplain maps, property boundaries, construction surveys, levee design, or other work requiring accurate coordinates that are consistent with one another. ... Horizontal datum measure positions (latitude and longitude) on the surface of the Earth, while vertical datum are used to measure land elevations and water depths. One application of the horizontal datum is monitoring the movement of the Earth s crust. This type of monitoring is often used in places like the San Andreas Fault in California where many earthquakes occur. The vertical datum is similarly realized through a collection of specific points on the Earth with known heights either above or below a nationally defined reference surface (e.g., mean sea level). In fact, effective internal communication leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be only a positive aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal Communication, n.d.). Radio 21 Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a small radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry, 2004). The registered professional nurse, in facilitating the ethical decision making process, can utilize different frameworks and models [through steps] (NYSNA, 2011). An alternative to address the ethical issue, the nurse must first identify the issue at hand. The Mayan Languages of Guatemala and Mexico Essay examples FIU Data Analysis Essay The Mayan languages of Guatemala and Mexico can be called a linguistic area (Study Guide, 2014, p. 102) because they are geographically in close proximity and the languages of the speech communities there would have been spoken side by side for many generations (ibid). Due to long term contact between speech communities in this linguistic area, bilingualism and language mixing in the speeches of the close knit natives are sure to have existed due to demographic movements. (Winford, 2003, p. 19). However, when language contact involves foreign and native languages, communicating in a common language becomes an issue. It is evident from the data that casual borrowing took place. The natives of Guatemala and Mexico appeared to have borrowed lexical items in relation to their occupations. For example, some of them were farmers and house servants. For the purpose of daily discourse, borrowed words were mainly common nouns that named a type of animal, a bird and items that the Mayan FIU languages may not have had a word or exact translations for. Social standing in the community was seen by the Mayans as an important relationship between the Spanish and in order to address a female who was a non native, borrowing was essential. Religion as an integral part of Mayan society, a Spanish word associated with the concept, a closely related Spanish word was borrowed. The omniscient point of view means that the storyteller knows all of the thoughts and emotions of all the characters throughout the story. In the nineteenth century there was a lot of racial discrimination against African Americans. The protagonist is Desiree; she is formed throughout the many situations in the short story. She is fought by the antagonist, Armand Aubigny. He is described, as a cruel, arrogant man who, likely, would never admit he was wrong. At the end of this story Armand s assumptions and inferences catch up to him. An inference is nothing more than a guess, an assumption. Inferring does not always get us in trouble and it would almost be impossible to not assume throughout an entire day. Unfortunately, making some inferences can have serious consequences. There are is a lot of foreshadowing throughout the short story that tells us that Armand has black ancestry. There is a key part of foreshadowing, there is another form of foreshadowing when Madame Valmonde says, the child has grown, has changed. This is another monstrous form of foreshadowing, that there is something different about this child and that we will find out what is different later in the story. • 22. Hamlet Movie Adaptation Hamlet was written in 1609 by William Shakespeare; Shakespeare is one of the greatest poets and playwrights. Since the original performance of Hamlet, there have been many movie adaptations. Some of the many well known film directors for these movies are Kenneth Branagh, Franco Zeffirelli and Sir Laurence Olivier. From the above film directors, I will compare and contrast Zeffirelli s production of Hamlet to the original Shakespeare s play Hamlet. Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet is one of the sound versions of Hamlet. It was produced and starred Mel Gibson in the late 1900s. Comparing the film version of Hamlet to the play, Zeffirelli has made noticeable changes in the movie including some clothing choices and characters reactions. He also altered and cut lines from the original Shakespeare play. Shakespeare centralized the theme of revenge in the ghost scene in Act 1 Scene 5 with the use of literary devices. In the movie adaptation, Zeffirelli used a different approach to portray the theme, without the use of any literary devices. He instead used costume choices, characters reactions and different word choices. Zeffirelli used a creative way to portray Hamlet s father wearing a white shirt with black pants instead of Shakespeare s choice of armour. He used this to show how Hamlet s father would look in 90 s society. He made Hamlet wear black clothing throughout the movie to show that Hamlet was the only one who cared and grieved throughout his mother s marriage and until his own death. Zeffirelli changed the characters reactions throughout the scenes. One of the character changes is during Hamlet s father s ghost soliloquy. Instead of his father being projected as angry towards his wife and his brother in the movie, he uses a calm tone. In the movie while Hamlet was listening to his father, he should have looked angry and upset. Instead he had no emotions while listening to his father. In the movie, he should have an angry tone and should be eager to plot revenge on who killed his father, instead he did not talk throughout his father s death story. Zeffirelli chose this so that the audience will wait and anticipate when Hamlet s anger will grow and his reaction during the scene. With the removal and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. A Comparison Of Genesis And Genesis Many stories and fables have been written and passed down from generation to generation about the great flood recorded in Genesis. However, critics can reason all they want because God created the world, and the creation is not a debatable topic. The Genesis account of the flood came first; therefore, Gilgamesh, Ovid s Metamorphoses, and The Korans accounts of the flood are all inspired by Genesis. The book of Genesis inspired the authors of these works of literature to write alterations of their own stories. Gilgamesh, Metamorphoses, and The Koran are all variations of the account chronicled in Genesis. First, there are numerous similarities between the flood in Gilgamesh and the biblical flood account found in Genesis chapters six through nine. Foremost, two righteous men are selected to build an ark because of an imminent flood. In Genesis 6:14, God instructs Noah to make thee an ark of gopher wood, and in Gilgamesh, an assembly of gods send Utnapishtim to abandon [his] home and build a boat (Gilgamesh 55). In Genesis and in Gilgamesh, both floods are sent because of the wickedness of man (King James Version, Gen. 6.5). Also, God and the gods in Gilgamesh both regret destroying the world by flood. Nevertheless, there are also many differences in the two stories. Although the two heroes both sent out birds to find land, they sent out different varieties of birds. Noah sent out a raven and three doves while Utnapishtim released a raven, dove, and a swallow. The blessings that the men receive after the flood were also different. The gods in Gilgamesh grant Utnapishtim eternal life while Noah s blessing was to be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth (King James Version Gen. 9.1). The corresponding similarities and differences in the two stories prove that the events in Genesis inspired the flood account in Gilgamesh. Next, Genesis inspired Ovid to write Metamorphoses. In Metamorphoses, Deucalion, like Noah, were both righteous men there was no better man than [Deucalion] (Ovid 1127). Unlike some flood stories, Metamorphoses does in fact tell of a universal flood because there was no other land, the sea had drowned it all (Ovid 1127). The case, heard before the Supreme Court, declared that public officials and figures could not recover for an alleged defamation unless they can prove both that the statement was false, and was made with actual malice. This decision prevents the news media from reporting on false or slanderous stories. It protects the country s public icons seeing they are almost always in the spotlight. In addition to defamation hindering media, obscenity and pornography on the net have placed limitations on what some websites may provide in terms of content. Under Miller v. Television s Responsibility in Violent Children Essay With school shootings becoming a frequent occurrence in our country, we have to ask the question on whether or not the violence produced in children has been influenced by his or her surroundings. Could the violence seen in television shows lead the way to these actions? With these violent situations growing we have to start looking into this issue. TV programs should be held moderately responsible for the violent actions of children because they promote negative influences. When we think of violence, we automatically picture guns and knives being used to kill people. Although this is a part of violence, it s not the only way a violent situation can arise. Violence can be any harm done to a person through physical contact. Along with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With these being two of the many factors playing a role, some will argue that television can t be solely responsible. On TV we can flip through hundreds of channels and when we see something that is intriguing, we will stop and stare at the motions until we figure out what that is. As mentioned by Steven Johnson, The morals of the stories have grown darker and more ambiguous (279). With darker stories, there are frequently more violent actions. For young kids, when an action or horror scene comes within viewing point, they will stop and stare in awe of how cool these scenes are. Having violence trigger fascination in the mind is a slippery slope when it comes to children and adolescents because their brains are still developing. The process of growing up involves learning what is right with positive outcomes and what is wrong with negative outcomes. If we feed their minds with violence then that is what they will develop to know and in return, that is what will come out through their actions. Most adults know how to separate fantasy scenarios with real life situations through a filter, while younger kids have yet to develop this ability. This filter is crucial in knowing what is real life and what is fake. If a child has yet to understand how to separate the two, then he or she will be more likely to blur the lines of reality and fantasy and assume that what is on TV is how situations happen in day to day life. The Model Of Emergent Leadership Tuvia Bielski: The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a situation where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ? Some people may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born with the necessary qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership, like many other character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends on how you define leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range from promoting what is right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something. Therefore, when it s finished you get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this. Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The movie unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was then. Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in. • 39. William Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale can be viewed as a tragicomedy that draws upon elements of As You Like It and Othello. Similar themes of trust, love, treachery, infidelity and tyranny are found throughout all three plays. While The Winter s Tale and As You Like It share similar happy endings, Othello shares more concepts with The Winter s Tale, but ends with a much more tragic ending. Both Leontes and Othello have severe trust issues and accuse their wives of having affairs. In these plays, both kings end up being incorrect and therefore produce really dramatic story lines. In Othello, Iago plants the seed of jealousy in Othello s mind, as opposed to in The Winter s Tale, in which Leontes s own paranoia feeds this idea in his mind to the point where he orders his wife and baby to be sent away. As You Like It is a play which encompasses themes of love and issues of brotherhood and violation of primogeniture. The conflicts raised at the beginning of the play are resolved at the end of the play just like in The Winter s Tale. Act V of The Winter s Tale draws elements from the other plays when the truth is finally revealed about the innocent wives and when there is a happy ending in the plays other than Othello. The main difference between these two plays, is that Othello ends with tragedy and multiple deaths, and The Winter s Tale ends with family unity and happiness. The Winter s Tale is labeled as a tragic comedy because the first three acts of the play feel much like a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Informative Essay On Fishless Oceans Melanie Chen Professor Polster English 1B 14 March 2016 Fishless Oceans Have you ever wondered about what lives deep within the ocean? With the earth composed of 71% of ocean, there live many different species of marine life such as salmon, tuna, sharks, and other aquatic animals. Because of the healthy proteins and fats such as omega 3 fatty acids fish provide, fish consumption has greatly increased over the past few decades. With fish as an alternative to red meats such as cows, pigs, and chicken, it has provided many benefits for our health such as regulate blood clotting, and provide significant amounts of iron, and good omega fatty acids that the human body cannot produce on its own. Fishing has been used to meet consumer demand and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, one commercial fishing method that has significantly increased the amount of bycatch and destruction of marine ecosystems is known as bottom trawling. This popular commercial fishing technique was first introduced in New Zealand when fishers began searching for shrimp and other deep sea species. Trawling is now being used to catch a range of species, such as shrimp, hoki, ling, hake, squid, and halibut. Bottom trawling involves one or two fishing vessels to tow a large net. As these large nets drag through the bottom seafloor, nets can be towed for at least two hours at a speed of a high of four knots. With these weighted nets dragging along the seafloor, everything in its path is either disturbed, damaged, or completely destroyed. Although bottom trawling may be a more labor saving method to catching large loads of shrimp and other deep sea life, there have been occurrences in which the amount of bycatch discarded exceeds the amount of target fish caught. For instance, in 2007, Belize only landed 19 metric tons of shrimp and likely discarded about 76 to 190 metric tons of other marine life. From the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Kelleher stated that bottom trawling has been one of the most destructive ways to catch fish, and is responsible for up to half of all discarded fish and marine life worldwide. Not only has bottom trawling led to overfishing but it also has disrupted coral reefs, and many other seafloor habitats. As habitat destruction from these fishing techniques worsen, fish populations continue to be threatened and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Truth About Kennedy s Assassination The Truth About Kennedy s Assassination There needs to be more explaining and evidence on about President Kennedy s assassination because what the government says is nonsense and doesn t line up. The government says it was Oswald, but how could that be he had a wife and kids, so why would he want to go away from them and go to prison? There s things that the government has concealed from the public. Just something seems to be off about the government s explanation. I m going to try to give an explanation for what seems to be the truth due to the information I found in the article The JFK Assassination . See, here s what I think is that Oswald was a part of a larger conspiracy than we know, but in this conspiracy he is innocent. Also instead of Oswald it was the government, a bar owner(Jack Ruby), and the mob did it because how would someone be calm and have no sweat if he did shoot Kennedy? In addition, be on the 6th floor, then get on the 4th floor in ninety seconds and still have regular breathing? Now you might be saying, What why would they have? . There s an explanation which is that the government didn t like Kennedy. I think this because he made the mob angry and the government didn t like that he did. Now Jack Ruby had connections to police and they work for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You might agree, disagree, or even be more confused than before. Either way I just had to take my freedom of speech to make this assassination more into reality unlike the government. This is my explanation and this should be clearing up some of the questions or maybe leaves us with more questions. I even still have a few questions, but my main question is if my theory is correct that they government was involved, then why didn t they just kill him along time before if they did want him dead? I also can answer my question which is that they wanted the right time, in front of a huge crowd to keep it a mystery to everyone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two short stories, Two Kinds and Catch the Moon are polar opposites and exactly the same simultaneously. Their cultures are extremely different but those differences are what make the theme for the stories, which is to overcome a struggle in life you have to be devoted to overcoming it, applicable the same way The short story Catch the Moon has a theme that is impacted by its surroundings and cultural setting. The cultural difference in the story is probably the largest contrast of the stories. In Two Kinds the mother out of tradition is strict with her daughter making her do things that she thinks are the best for her, while on the other hand in Catch the Moon the father lets his son do as he pleases but still wishes the best for him. Culture wise the stories are opposite however on the side of theme they share many similarities. Louis from Catch the Moon was trying to persevere on and move forward with life after his mother died, on the other hand the daughter from Two Kinds was also trying to move on and do different things and succeed, they aren t identical however they share similar qualities such as being able to persevere through hard times. Each of their cultures also impacted the theme in the same way, while one story was laid back and the other way strict and harsh they still in the end came of with similar points to be put across. Each story compared shows that people from different worlds can have the same problems and be impacted by events the same way as others from other places can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emergency department overcrowding refers to an excess of patients in the treatment areas exceeding ED capacity. According to the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), over one half of all sentinel event cases of morbidity and mortality resulting from delays in treatment occur in hospital emergency departments. Emergency department overcrowding has been cited as a contributing factor in 31% of these sentinel event cases. (Trzeciak Rivers, 2003). Consequently, overcrowding affects persons who suffer an unexpected severe illness or injury requiring time sensitive emergency treatment. Therefore, patients must ... The respondents stated the system was simple to use, reduced the subjectivity of the triage decision and was more accurate than other triage systems (Singer, Infante, Oppenheimer, West Siegel, 2012). The rapid identification of patients that need immediate attention is one of the benefits of the emergency severity index. The system focuses on the fast and accurate sorting of patients in cases where there is shortage of adequate resources for treatment of emergency patients. The emergency severity index (ESI) uses a five level categorization process that is used to rapidly sort emergency patients into five groups that are based on clinically meaningful differences and projected resource needs available. Another positive outcome of the emergency severity index is the improved flow of patients through the emergency department as patients categorized as level one and two can be immediately taken to the treatment area for rapid evaluation and treatment. Patients determined by the triage nurse to be lower acuity can safely wait to be attended to after the higher acuity level patients are cared for. There are other benefits of the system that include determination of the patients who do not need to be seen in the main ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. My Experience With The End Game As I sat looking at the final, Dr. Van Tassell gave, I tried to decide what he was up to with this assignment. What is the benefit, the end game? He always had something up his sleeve. So, I thought: Is what we answer going to be our real final grade or is this for his own gain? Maybe both? I still haven t figured it out. Therefore, I must press onward to the actual assignment. Here it is: I believe I earned an A in INTS 2630; although, in the estimation of my class grades, I earned a B. I believe I earned an A, because of my mastery and understanding of the course material. The evidence can be found in the content of my course work and the ability to move forward in my major with the concepts and ideas attained in the class. Throughout the semester, I found myself drowning in my daily to do list and unsure of what the bigger picture could be. I had assignments in each one of classes every single day we met, alongside a full time job, pledging a sorority (another full time job) and an almost twice daily commute. All of the work forced me to utilize every second I could spare. I did school work at work and, really, wherever else possible. Honestly, some days, the class work had been finished on time and other days, it had not. In INTS 2630, the updated copies of my essays did not always make it on the commute with me. Sometimes, they were simply not updated or worked on. As for the readings, they had always been completed in time for class. I found a way to use my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Rise and Demise of Vaudeville Essay As far as the development and demise of vaudeville, there is much to be said. But to truly understand its rise and fall, first one must understand what vaudeville is. Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of entertainment that was popular in the United States from the early 1880s until the mid 1930s. Each performance consisted of a series of unrelated acts grouped together on a common bill. Types of acts included classical musicians, dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, impersonators, acrobats, illustrated songs, jugglers, scenes from plays, athletes, lecturing celebrities, and movies. Vaudeville developed from many sources, including the concert saloon, freak shows, dime museums, and literary burlesque. Deemed the heart of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although vaudeville seemed to be a long standing staple in our society, like all good things, it must come to an end. the decline and death of vaudeville appears certain, clear and inevitable. From the performers point of view, there was no perspective other than the here and now of their lives. Each day seemed to differ little from the previous, and speculation about the future was, as ever, informed by hear say and past experience. As an array of specialty acts, vaudeville was an enterprise without name that, over many years, could be found in the marketplaces of Asia and Europe. It eventually spread around the world to the farthest corners of Australia and Africa. Performers worked when and where they could, quite often in undesired locations. A certain cliché attached to performing in bed and breakfast s, saloons and public houses after their owners added stages and audience pits set apart from the tavern. It soon became quite taxing for performers to not only live the same shows everyday, but to move on and find other work after they were no longer needed in vaudeville shows. Still, this was not the only reason for the demise of vaudeville, although it played a large part. The largest contributing factor was the invention of the motion picture in the 1930 s. There was no longer a need for people to be entertained by a comical, musical, circus style side show. Now they found a more intimate and fascinating way of enjoying a performance. The first ... Microscopic Hair Analysis Cases According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the FBI, the Innocence Project, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), over 90 percent of all microscopic hair analysis cases performed by scientists working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation have turned up with erroneous statements. 26 out of 28 analysts provided false testimony or incorrect information was submitted on laboratory reports during trials (Cates, Dominguez, Kortan, Pierce, 2015). Cases that had not had mitochondrial DNA in their time have falsely accused and/or wrongfully convicted victims due to the misinterpretation of data caused by an agent trying to corroborate evidence whether it was their personal choice or by someone who is of a higher rank.
