How big is your digital footprint? How many references do YOU have in Google? How many passwords do you possess? How many sites have you bookmarked? Has your family compiled a family tree? Do you shop online? Do you bank online? Do you have your own website? Do you twitter? Do you blog? Do you comment on othersā€™ sites? Digital Footprint? As soon as you access the internet you leave a trace, a mark somewhere. That trace is your digital footprint and itā€™s impossible not to leave one! A search for Stephen Downes on Google reveals the extent of his web presence.

I have been thinking about online identity for some time and mulling over the aim of this blog , what my identity will be , and what the problems with this are. On the one hand I want to have a professional blog that attracts readers, informs them and becomes a productive part of the blogging community. At the same time, I think it is important that readers catch a glimpse of who I am as a person. http://sarah-stewart.blogspot.com/2007/10/develping-my-online-identity.html

Editor's Notes

  1. The keynote session will provide an overview of the paths Australian educators are travelling online, and the issues they face in their personal and professional learning journeys. Participants will be challenged to consider what impact read/write culture is having on educators, and how they are sharing creative content, commenting, reviewing, rating and learning from each other online. What is your digital learning footprint and where are you headed?
