Biological Weapons And Chemical Weapons
Abstract
Biochemical weapons distribute deadly toxins and microorganisms, such as viruses and bacteria,
with the intent too inflict disease among humans, animals, and agriculture. Biochemical attacks
could in fact result in destruction of food plots, temporarily upsetting a small community, and
killing large amounts of people, or more outcomes. The way that a biochemical weapon is
dispersed depends on many factors. Such as: the agent itself; the preparation; its durability; and
route of infection. most agents can be spread as an aerosol, which means the agent can be inhaled
or can infect a susceptible place on the skin, like a cut or wound. Attackers can also ... Show more

They supposedly spread the bubonic plague in St. Petersburg, Russia, infected mules with
Glanders disease in Mesopotamia, and attempted to do the same with the horses of the French
Cavalry. The allied forces even experimented with chemical weapons during World War 1, with
agents such as mustard gas. Mustard gas is a substance that, when inhaled causes the victim to
asphyxiate and perish. When the substance makes contact with the eyes it causes a burning
sensation, the deadly gas can even cause blindness if the eyes are exposed to it long enough.
(Wiggins, 2009)
A large amount of countries have started or continued offensive biological weapons research and
development . as well, since the 1980s, terrorist groups have become users of biological agents due
to there high effectiveness and cheap price. Usually, these cases amount only to hoaxes. However,
the following exceptions have been noted: In 1985, Iran began an offensive biochemical weapons
program involving anthrax, Botulinum toxin, and Aflatoxin. (Schnieder, 2015) During Operation
Desert Storm, the combination of allied forces faced the threat of chemical and biological agents.
After the Persian Gulf War, Iran announced that it had bombs, Scud missiles, 122 mm rockets, and
artillery shells equipped with Botulinum toxin, anthrax, and aflatoxin. They also had mist tanks
fitted to many aircraft that could distribute

Medical Marijuan A New Miracle Cure Or Is It Still Just An...
Our society is being faced with questions as to the relevancy of medical marijuana. Is this a new
miracle cure or is it still just an illegal drug? This new member to the pharmaceutical world wants
to stand on its own with the many testimonials that can be found for its valuable use. But it still
hits a brick wall when those who remain fixed on the programmed lessons of the past. Reefer, the
killer of all who intake. Or is it really an actual cure for the world of sufferers? State after state is
making the choice to use this as another weapon in their state s arsenal of medicines. Countless
people will testify that it is the one thing that saved their lives, while as with everything there are

Illegal drug to be hidden or legal pharmaceutical can be argued until the end of time while there
will always be some who disagree, it s human nature. Truly it is hard to remove the programmed
thoughts that still remain in our culture that marijuana will always be the reefer madness culprit of
the past. Yet the actual benefits need to be given a chance. Why not? If it is something that can
help even one person should the public not at least think about it? So while the arguments for both
sides remain firm in their belief of the harms and the cures of marijuana, we as an educated society
need to follow through with the proper research.
Marijuana was initially made illegal at the federal level by the Marijuana TaxStamp Act of 1937.
Anyone wanting to sell the drug had to register and pay taxes on it. Then the federal government
simply did not allow people to register or pay taxes, so everyone selling marijuana was doing so
against the law. This act was struck down after a court challenge by Timothy Leary on Fifth
Amendment grounds (of course the government immediately passed another law against it). The
IRS, however, still officially requires people to pay taxes on their income from illegal drugs:
Illegal income, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be include in your income on Form
1040, line 21... (IRS Publication 17, p.87) but in more recent years, many of the states have passed

Essay On Cryptosporidium Parvum
Cryptosporidium Parvum: Transmission and Infection
Cryptosporidium parvum is a protozoan intestinal parasite causing a short term enteric illness in
individuals with functioning immune systems, and can cause a potentially fatal infection in
immunosuppressed individuals. Because of C. parvum s resistance to many of the procedures used
to process drinking water and food, and the parasite s extremely high fecundity, the potential for a
large scale outbreak is very high. In fact, C. parvum was responsible for an outbreak in
Milwaukee in 1993 when an estimated 403,000 people became ill. This was the largest waterborne
outbreak of disease in United States history. This paper will cover some aspects of C. parvum s life
cycle, human sickness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The infective dose may be as little as one oocyst, and severe diarrhea can occur, causing the
individual to pass up to 20 liters of fluid in one 24 hour period (Donnelly amp; Stentiford, 1997).
This inevitably leads to death.
Transmission of the parasite can occur in several different ways. Direct transmission can occur by
handling infected animal or human feces. One quarter of reported direct transmission infections
occurred by direct contact with feces, while the rest were reported to have happened by person to
person contact (Donnelly amp; Stentiford, 1997).
Person to person transmission can occur through poor hygiene habits or by handling human waste.
Daycares and nursing homes are at a high risk for person to person transmission because of the
high risk of handling infected feces. Family outbreaks are common, as are outbreaks among
children at nurseries (Donnelly amp; Stentiford, 1997).
Indirect transmission by the water or foodborne route is one of the most common ways C. parvum
is spread. Because of the oocyst s resistance to chlorination, several outbreaks have been caused by
waterborne transmission. In one study (Carpenter et al.), oocysts were removed from the feces of
an experimentally infected calf, cleaned of fecal matter, and placed into different amounts of
chlorinated water at different temperatures. Although this experiment had been performed before,
this was

Occupational Therapy Case Paper
I spoke with Mr. Naranjo many times since the last reporting period regarding scheduling of
occupational therapy and also the MRI. Once the MRI and x ray were done he declined going back
to Dr. Branch for a follow up appointment on 1/31/8. He has requested to see his primary care
doctor s office.
On 2/6/18 I met Mr. Naranjo at the office of his PA Pamela Becker. There was extended travel due
to icy roads. I arrived though at 9 am and Mr. Naranjo was already at the location. He reports that
his pain is currently at a 4.5 at best and an 8 at the wrist. He said that Occupational therapy has

being longer, that it is not acute. The MRI did show some fluid which could be from
inflammation. She said she would recommend he go to a hand specialist. Mr. Naranjo was not
aware of the results of the MRI other than they were normal because he opted not to follow up
with Dr. Branch. He said he did not like Dr. Branch, that he did not feel a connection. Ms. Becker
would also recommend a MRI of the wrist done at Sparrow so the previous radiologist could
compare it to the prior forearm MRI, She suggested Dr. Stevens a hand specialist, and she also
ordered Occupational therapy to continue. Mr. Naranjo asked if she would order some pain

Henry Ford And The Model T
In October of 1908, Henry Ford, owner of the revolutionary Ford Motor Company, had released to
the public the Model T, an automobile powered by a gasoline engine, namely called a horseless
carriage since it was a similar form of transportation. Although early blueprints of automobiles were
in Germany and France at the time, it wasn t them who took over the automobileindustry, it was the
Americans. Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Chrysler were the big three who
dominated the car market. Their mass production of cars for the public exploded with popularity,
especially Henry Fords company, and the Model T, almost every aspect of it was a draw to people.

Analysis Of The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
As frigid snow frosts the sun licked ice, a glacial wind howls against the trees. As a child, one
would sip hot chocolate and watch a movie with their family. However, Jeannette Walls would be
sitting on a dirty floor, cold with no food. In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, it is revealed that
as Jeannette grew up, she endured hardships inflicted upon her by her own parents. However, if
Jeannette had not gone through these things, she never would have gained the characteristics that
she values present day. Although Jeannette Walls faced destitution and endured anguish during her
childhood, these obstacles formed her into a self reliant woman who proves that just because she
did not have as much money as other families, she can still achieve success in her life.
Throughout her life, starting from childhood, Jeannette Walls suffered through multiple hardships
that could lead her away from a successful adult life. Since she was young, her parents put her
through things that a child should never be exposed to, which could lead her to make these same
mistakes as she grew older. For example, her father was an alcoholic, and from this many problems
sprouted. Furthermore, her mother never wanted to be tied down, and loathed the idea of family
life, as she did not want the responsibility of raising a family. Rose Mary was depicted as self
centered in the novel, and did not think of her children, as she only thought of her own needs. This
can be shown when she keeps the diamond ring her children found for herself. Instead of thinking
of her starving children, she states that, self esteem is even more vital than food (Walls 186). In this
moment, Rose Mary shows that she is not thinking of her children and what they need to survive,
but only cares about herself and what she has. Under these circumstances, any other parent would
use the ring to buy food for their children, but instead she shows her inconsiderate nature by
keeping the ring for herself. Another example of an event that could scar Jeannette far into her life
would be when her father brought her to a bar and allowed a strange drunk man to take Jeannette to
his apartment. When she told her father that she had almost been raped, he does not listen to

Charlie Vs. Gordon Effect In Flowers For Algernon
Flowers For Algernon
In the story Flowers for Algernon, Charlie, our main character, is presented a choice to triple his
IQ for a short time and possibly forever, or to stay the way he is. It wouldn t be a good story if he
turned down the offer so of course he chose to have the operation. Later on in the story he slowly
becomes smarter, and then back to his normal self. I believe that Charlie should have had the
operation because he helped make a scientific breakthrough, It was a good experience for him,
and it made people respect him more. If we look at how he made a scientific breakthrough just
think about it. Charlie was the first human to have a successful brain operation that made him
learn quicker and overall smarter than he was. Through the course of the book, toward the middle

The Company Of Free Enterprise And Market Competition
The foundation of the United States economy is the foundation of free enterprise and market
competition. The competitive market allows consumers to benefit from price reductions, increasing
quality, and allowing consumers the freedom of choice. These ideas of free enterprise and market
competition are so crucial that they are protected by Congressional antitrust laws. As the Supreme
Court has explained, Antitrust laws in general, and the Sherman Act in particular, are the Magna
Carta of free enterprise. They are as important to the preservation of economic freedom and our
free enterprise system as the Bill of Rights is to the protection of our fundamental personal
freedoms. (Harris, pg. 197, 2014) The healthcare industry is incredibly... Show more content on

(Harris, pg. 214 217, 2014) The question is that can Dr. Stuart state a valid claim against the

privileges within the restrictions of Section 1 of the Sherman Act? Furthermore, does Dr. Stuart
have a valid claim against the collaboration and coercions of General and Happy within Section 1
of the Sherman Act? Any application of Section 1 antitrust legislation must violate all three
claims: proof of conspiracy, restraint of trade, and effect on interstate commerce. The first
question poses the question of Dr. Stuart having a claim against General for violating section 1 of
the Sherman Act. The Sherman Act is composed of three claims as previously stated. The first
claim is the claim of conspiracy. In this claim, Dr. Stuart has no ground against the doctors of
General. This is because officers and employees of the same corporation cannot conspire with each
other or with their corporation, similarly two parts of the same organization cannot conspire with
each other. As the decision was made solely by the physicians and administrators of General, they
can not conspire with one another and therefore cannot commit conspiracy. (Harris, pg. 200, 2014)
The second claim is in regards to the restraint of trade. The type of restraint demonstrated would

Lineage-Based Perspective
With there being more than 50,000 species of vertebrates alone it is essential for all biology
majors to have a working knowledge of the tree of life. The two perspectives for teaching zoology
are the Linnean taxonomical and the Phylogenetic clade based perspective. The Linnean
taxonomical perspective is a rank based hierarchy while the phylogenetic clade based perspective
groups speciesby focusing a common ancestor and its descendants. In regards to teaching zoology
there is more value in using the phylogenetic clade based perspective rather than the Linnean
perspective because it allows students to organize the details of biodiversitywith a more rational
system.
Phylogenetic taxonomy focuses on common ancestry and derived functional ... Show more content

For example; Coleoptera contains over three hundred thousand species while Primate contains
roughly four hundred species including the human (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene).
This lack of criteria is what causes the exclusion of taxonomic acknowledgment of major
evolutionary innovations while inaccurately portraying history. It is also mentioned in Greene s
more recent journal that the Linnean method fails at specifying clades based upon the origin of
limbs in tetrapods and shelled egg amniotes. While it also, obscures the fact that crocodilians are
more closely related to birds than they are to turtles, lizards, and snakes, which does not highlight
many dramatic similarities between earlier archosaurs (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene).
These two main concerns of omission and obscuration are why the phylogenetic clade based
system is a far more valuable and beneficial methodology for teaching zoology.
As it was mentioned previously, the phylogenetic clade based perspective only recognizes
monophyletic taxa, which are those taxa derived from a common ancestor not shared with any
other group. There is another argument being made that paraphyletic groups should not be included
as units of study within a zoology course. Paraphyletic and monophyletic units of study both have
their benefits and drawbacks however I believe that

Analysis of Chapters 1 through 8 of Great Expectations
Plot and Setting The plot starts out with a little boy name Phillip Pirrip. It is a first person
narrative about a boy back in the nineteenth century. The first eight chapters deal mostly with Pip
s childhood years. It also deals with who Pip is, and his family. In the beginning of the story Pip
introduces himself, and introduces his dead parents. He is in the graveyard, and then a scary
looking man comes up. The man threatens him. The plot of the story I think is good because it deals
a lot with the struggles in a child. He has no one to turn to. The author really helped us relate to the
story.

character that cares very much for Pip. She understands Pip more than Pip does. Pip doesn t like

Personal Response So far I really enjoy the book. Charles Dickens really pulls me into the book.
He uses great figurative language that makes you feel sorry for a character. The people in this
book seem so innocent and harmless. Well, except the guy that threatened Pip. They all also
seem to live hard lives. They don t have all the benefits that we have today. They have to scrounge
around for stuff we never would have to scrounge around for. What is really neat about it, is that
they get an enjoyment out of life. They are not well off either. I can t wait to read on further into
Charles Dickens novel.
Vocabulary So far in this novel there is no vocabulary that really comes to mind. I though I
would use this section to talk about figurative language. Charles Dickens uses a lot of figurative
language. He says that when Pip goes up into his room, he is in the dark. Literally that means he
does not have a candle, so therefore he is in the dark. Figuratively we can interpret it in many
ways. One way is to say that Pip isn t a very smart kid. He is and ignorant person. When someone
says that someone is in the dark, they usually mean that they are naГЇve. Later on in the story, Pip

As discussed in the novel, there are three social classes in which certain people are placed, based
on their wealth and power in society. Similar to present day society, people are placed in specific
categories solely based on their income and political power. Although this method isn t very fair,
it is, in fact, the harsh reality of society, as no one person is always treated fairly. Another

Honey Bees Apiarists
Today, the need for honey and honey products are at an all time high. With such a
demand and the fact that bees can only make it, gives the apiarists, commonly known as
beekeepers, a lot to deal with. Not only are they risking the chance of getting stung by potentially
enough bees to be fatal, but without their hard work and dedication to what they do, life would
be different. Beekeepers are underappreciated.
Honey bees are the only bees that can produce honey. Humans cannot produce it. With
that being said, Apiarists have a stressful amount of work to deal with. First, let s look at what
they actually do. As a beekeeper, an individual has a variety of essential responsibilities that one

Analysis Of The Rock By Peter Blume
Intention:
If you re anything like me and you see this painting of The Rock by Peter Blume (1944), you may
wonder what in the world is going on in the picture. At our first look, we see the obvious; the
enormous rock Peter Blume placed right in the center. After looking at the scenery going on, I think
that the placement and size of the rock is proportioned that way as a sign of it being significant.
The way I see it, the monument plays an important role when it comes down to determining why
there are so many things going on at once in the painting. With the comparison of the details of the
hard working people to the broken rock, half built building, and the smoke, I will establish the
reasons of why this picture shows both destruction and loyalty and the ways destruction in this
painting also results in uniting the people working.
Thesis/Claim:
The significance of the monumental rock placed right smack in the core of the painting, is the
reason as to why the workers will be united by the desturction that occured to them.
Breaking it Down, Part 1:
The most coherent pieces of evidence that show the rock is represented as a monument and the
workers are there because of it are the proportion and how everyone is working hard around it.
In terms of the placement, the rock was positioned to be right smack in the middle of this
community balanced on a couple of woods. It s strange to see how it is placed because since it is
balanced on unalligned chunks of wood, I

Pros And Cons Of Fighting In Hockey
Should the NHL prohibit the fighting from its hockey games? Although fighting is the most
controversial argument when it comes to hockey I believe that this long lived tradition should stay
in the Canadien game. Hockey is the only major sport that does not viciously punish violent
offenders. Although the tradition is gradually dying down I believe that it must withstand the
opposition because it is a major part of the game.
The main argument that individuals that oppose fighting in hockey have is that fighting in hockey
produces a more dangerous environment for the players. The war zone called the hockey arena has
given players both physical and mental damage. Fighting in hockey causes chronic traumatic which
causes depression. There have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Maintaining A Safe Working Environment
Keep Safe We spend more time working that we do with our families. Therefore, it is important
to make friendships, feeling like part of the work family and to have a have a safe work
environment. When an employee is able to do all of these, they will be happy and productive
which will help make the company more successful. There are five steps used when creating a safe
work environment. These are respect the wall, honor others, suspend judgment, valuedifferences
and be trustworthy (Smalley, 2007). This paper will discuss how a coachcan create a safe working
environment leading to healthy relationships in the work environment.
Respect the Wall
Respect wall is actually termed the relationship wall and is the first step in creating a safe
environment (Smalley, 2007). When you meet a person for the first time there is usually some
guarding of feelings, emotions and character from the other party. This is done to create a space
because the other person does not know you, nor do they trust you yet. This happens to a new
employee when they start a new job or position. They feel very uncomfortable and out of place in
the new surroundings. This is the perfect opportunit for a company to assign a coach. The coach
can do several things to make them feel like part of the team. These include mentoring, showing
them around, introducing them to other employees, helping with paperwork and discussing them
their new responsibilities. However, a coach can not come in with a

China’s One Child Policy Essay
With more than 1.3 billion people, China has to think about a solution and find ways to deal
with its population explosion. In order to have control over population, in 1970, a policy named
China s One Child Policy was introduced. Mingliang argues that, China, through the one child
policy, has instituted the most aggressive, comprehensive population policy in the world (1).
This policy limits all families in the Republic of China to have only one child, regardless of the sex:
however, within this policy there are some exceptions. It is possible to have two children only if
the first child is born with a disability, if parents work in a high risk job, if the couple lives in
villages, or if the family is a non Han, otherwise you are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Mingliang states, the Chinese preference for at least one son is well documented (3). Having
two sons in a family is very unusual in China. Due to the preferences of having sons, the abortion
rates have increased. Abortion is well known in China, as is the missing girls phenomenon.
Shaou, Dodge, and Suter argue that, of the seven million abortions annually in China, the
International Planned Parenthood Federation indicates that more than 70 percent are female
unborn children (4). This is a big percentage, and the number of girls in this country is
decreasing every year. People are using different ways to limit the number of girls. Moreover, if
a woman does not want to abort, she is forced to do so. Bluett argues that, abortions are
performed throughout the entire nine month period, even up to the point of childbirth (3), simply
saying the increase in sex ration is caused mainly by son preference, which is as a tradition in
China. It is significant to mention that because of the gender imbalance, younger generations are
facing other problems. According to Bluett, many males are left without a wife, which leads to an
increase in human trafficking (5). The one child policy is causing a lot of troubles and China has
to make sure to reduce the negative effects of this policy. However, China s one child policy has
been effective in some ways. Although, it is true that the

Uses And Function Of Carbon Nanotubes
Abstract
This presentation will introduce you to the use and function of Carbon Nanotubes in the delivery of
pharmaceuticals in medicine. Nanotechnology is a developing science that involves the
manipulation of materials. This is executed on the scale of fewer than 100 nanometers. The goal of
this technology is to optimise the utility and therefore increase the control of atoms and molecules.
This presentation will explain what carbon nanotubes are, the purpose of using them in the delivery
of pharmaceuticals in medicine and of course how they have improved scientific research so far.
What are Carbon Nanotubes?
Carbon nanotubes are cylindrical in shape and, made up of carbon atoms that have extraordinary
properties. At a singular level, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relies on the fact that they are hollow and also quite a lot smaller than blood cells. A few
basic structures of carbon nanotubes is shown in figure three. The diameter of carbon nanotubes
can range between less than 1 nanometer up to 50 nanometers. This sizing could also be shown as
less than 1.0E 7 cm to 5.0E 6 cm. Although carbon nanotubes have many great qualities, there is
one property still being researched, and this is the toxicity of carbon nanotubes. This sizing could
also be shown as less than 1.0E 7 cm to 5.0E 6 cm. Researchers believe that the toxicity may be
harmful to patients and thus, the use of carbon nanotubes have not yet been approved by the Food
and Drug Administration.
Purpose of Carbon Nanotubes
One reason for the use of Carbon Nanotubes, as stated earlier, is because of small size. As carbon
nanotubes are extremely small, they are able to move around the blood stream easily. Other uses
of Carbon Nanotubes in the delivery of medicine are their use as channels for biosensors, sheath
for enzymes and transfection in DNA. Carbon nanotubes are said to be the next generation of
technology in drug delivery. This is for many reasons such as its water solubility, it has a highly
stable dispersion and has

Analysis Of Covers The Ground By Gary Snyder
Title
To people foreign to California, the state is boxed into a set of stereotypical characteristics. The
Golden State has received labels such as surf nation, and liberal land. But to those who ve gotten a
chance to live within this great state appreciate the opportunities and ambitions that come with
living in California. Furthermore, what truly differentiates California from any other place in the
world is the consistent paradoxical environment. This notion is best epitomized by the city of
Sacramento and the cultural, economic and social change that the city has undergone. Gary Snyder
communicates this theme through building around John Muir s ideologies in his work of Covers
The Ground. Snyder s work exemplifies the contradiction between nature and innovation. It
presents the paradoxical state individuals around the world face on whether to accept the
innovation and accept the benefits that come with it, or stay true to the roots of nature and the
history that accompanies it. This dilemma boils down to whether we as a race embrace the
progression of time and the paradoxes that follow, or we find solace in our current state.
The inception of Covers The Ground, begins with establishing the setting of the city of
Sacramento. Understanding the natural beauty of the city is best conveyed by establish vivid
imagery and Snyder accomplishes this by describing the blossoming almond orchard acres. As the
image of nature sparks into the reader s head, Gary Snyder is

B) The brand personality of a company can be described as the set of human characteristics that
attributed to the brand of a company. It is something by which the consumer can relate to the
brand which can effectively increase the value of the brand by effectively communicating a sense
of similarity to their customers. There are five main types of brand personalities, but the one that
matches Nestle the best is, excitement. Nestle gives of vibes of a carefree attitude and connects
best with consumers that are youthful and spirited. Because of the nature of the products Nestle
offers, the idea of Point of Purchase (POP) becomes very important. Many of the Nestle
consumers purchase their products at the payment isle of grocery stores, so POP sales become
very important. This also allows packaging to play an extremely important role during the POP
purchase. Because there are many other similar products in the check out isle, it is important for
Nestle to make their products stand out. According to a brand manager from Nestle, For Nestle,
packaging has a key role to play in brand recognition . Environmental issues, mainly the use of
biodegradable and sustainable materials, have a growing impact on package design and materials
sourcing. This is something Nestle keeps in mind when communicating with their consumers and
also when maintaining brand identity and packaging characteristics. Nestle also recently announced

Progress and individualism are very much celebrated in American culture. Many people migrate to
urban cities in the search of economic prosperity and to achieve the elusive American Dream. City
life can often come as a shock to individuals not accustomed to a fast paced lifestyle; conversely it
can change a person. Such change can transform a person to lose the values and beliefs they were
raised with which consequently attribute to losing the bonds that they once held with their families.

While in the north, individual s sustained close bonds with their families and home. The adults
often flocked home during summer vacations or whenever possible. Moreover the children were
key players in maintaining close relations between the families in the North and South. Children
were often sent to the South for summer vacations, semesters during the school year and some for
most of their childhood when their parents moved away. It was not that parents did not want to take
them but it was that they wanted the grandparents to raise their children as to instill and not lose
sight of family values (Stack, 1996). Although most children were left for grandparents to rear, the
children and the young adults were also caring for the elderly by helping them cope with ailments
due to old age. In turn the adults in the north were helping their communities back home by sending
their hard earned money.
Family values and traditions are very important in maintaining social bonds in African American
families. In addition, it is clear that African American families are matrifocal and matriarchal.
Matrifocality is present in Burdy s Bend Miss Pearl is a great example (Stack, 1996), in the film

Christianity In Beowulf
Beowulf is an exciting tale about a Scandinavian man named Beowulf, who saves the Danes from

In the class reading of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, we analyzed the life of Stephen
Dedalus in relation to his family and to women, and the varying roles they play. From his point
of view, we watched the shifting dynamic in his family and his struggles with relationships with
the rest of the people around him. Analyzing Stephen s coming of age from such a perspective,
that of a virtual stranger, shaped the conclusions that were drawn as well as the life events that
were deemed significant. This observation of Stephen s growth, as an outsider looking in, created

High Blood Pressure Is The Resistance Of Blood Vessels
Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood against the walls of blood vessels, and the
magnitude of this force depends on the cardiac output and the resistance of the blood vessels.
When the systolic blood pressure (SBP) which is the pressure as the heart pumps blood around
the body is 140 mm Hg or more, or a diastolic blood pressure (DBP) which is the pressure as the
heart relaxes and refills with blood, is 90 mm Hg or more, and the individual is taking
antihypertensive medication, it is called Hypertension(Madhur, 2014). High blood pressure is a
major risk factor for various other illnesses and even death due to several cardiac and vascular
diseases. It is assessed that about 54% of strokes, 47% of heart attacks, 75% of hypertensive
disease, 25% of other heart disease, 13.5% of all mortality, and 6% of morbidity are linked to
Hypertension (Khraim Pike, 2014). Hypertension affects about 70 million adults in the United
States. Only about half (52%) of people with hypertension have their blood pressure under control.
Nearly 1 in 3 American adults have prehypertension which means that blood pressure numbers are
greater than usual, but not in the high blood pressure range. Hypertension costs the country about
$46 billion annually. This comprises the cost of health care services, drugs to treat hypertension,

police stops in the past two years, compared to 0.7 stops for white males and 0.5 stops for
Chinese males. Although black females are less likely to be stopped and questioned by the police
than black males, they are significantly more likely to report police stops than white or Chinese
females. In fact, black females
(9%) are more likely to report three or more police stops than white (8%) or Chinese males (6%).
On average, black females report 0.7 police stops in the past two years, compared to 0.4 stops for
white females and 0.2 stops for Chinese females.
Respondents were also asked if they had been physically searched by the police in the past two
years. Once again, the data reveal that black people
particularly black males are more vulnerable to police searches than respondents from other
racial backgrounds. Overall, 12% of black male respondents report being searched by the police in
the past two years, compared to only 3% of white and Chinese males. Black females are also more
likely to report being searched by the police (3%) than white or
Chinese women (1%).
The data clearly indicate that black respondents are more likely to be stopped and searched by the
police than white or Chinese respondents. However, there are factors, besides race, that may explain
black over representation in police encounters.
For example, black Torontonians

While I spoke there was complete silence. It was striking after the pandemonium that had
existed....on several occasions [Franklin] said to others, Her speech was just right (Roosevelt 217

from beginnings filled with public service, not only did Eleanor Roosevelt drastically change
the role of the First Lady, but she also modernized the role of women in society through all stages
of her life. Very early I became conscious of the fact that there were people around me who
suffered in one way or another (Roosevelt 12). Even from an early age, Eleanor surrounded herself
with opportunities to serve others. This early exposure to public service led her to continuously
help others around her. When her husband, Franklin Roosevelt was appointed Assistant Navy
Secretary in 1913 under the Wilson administration, Eleanor became actively involved with two
organizations in particular working to bring aid to those in need, the

How Does Aristotle Explain Eudaimonia
What constitutes a good life ? Aristotle sought the answer to this question. Two books,
Nicomachean ethics and Eudemuan ethics, were dedicated to discovering what a good life is. He
reached the conclusion that when someone acts, they are always striving towards some final goal.
So how did Aristotle explain eudaimoniaor perfect happiness? Eudaimonia is the ultimate good we
strive towards, that requires no further questioning. What he means by no further questioning is
this. Something that is the final good you want to acquire from your work. Aristotlelooked over
several possible answers before coming to his conclusion. First there is honor. But, we see that
honor is just another tool to reach ultimate fulfillment. Likewise, pleasure

  • 2. Biological Weapons And Chemical Weapons Abstract Biochemical weapons distribute deadly toxins and microorganisms, such as viruses and bacteria, with the intent too inflict disease among humans, animals, and agriculture. Biochemical attacks could in fact result in destruction of food plots, temporarily upsetting a small community, and killing large amounts of people, or more outcomes. The way that a biochemical weapon is dispersed depends on many factors. Such as: the agent itself; the preparation; its durability; and route of infection. most agents can be spread as an aerosol, which means the agent can be inhaled or can infect a susceptible place on the skin, like a cut or wound. They supposedly spread the bubonic plague in St. Petersburg, Russia, infected mules with Glanders disease in Mesopotamia, and attempted to do the same with the horses of the French Cavalry. The allied forces even experimented with chemical weapons during World War 1, with agents such as mustard gas. Mustard gas is a substance that, when inhaled causes the victim to asphyxiate and perish. When the substance makes contact with the eyes it causes a burning sensation, the deadly gas can even cause blindness if the eyes are exposed to it long enough. (Wiggins, 2009) A large amount of countries have started or continued offensive biological weapons research and development . as well, since the 1980s, terrorist groups have become users of biological agents due to there high effectiveness and cheap price. Usually, these cases amount only to hoaxes. However, the following exceptions have been noted: In 1985, Iran began an offensive biochemical weapons program involving anthrax, Botulinum toxin, and Aflatoxin. (Schnieder, 2015) During Operation Desert Storm, the combination of allied forces faced the threat of chemical and biological agents. After the Persian Gulf War, Iran announced that it had bombs, Scud missiles, 122 mm rockets, and artillery shells equipped with Botulinum toxin, anthrax, and aflatoxin. • 3. Medical Marijuan A New Miracle Cure Or Is It Still Just An... Our society is being faced with questions as to the relevancy of medical marijuana. Is this a new miracle cure or is it still just an illegal drug? This new member to the pharmaceutical world wants to stand on its own with the many testimonials that can be found for its valuable use. But it still hits a brick wall when those who remain fixed on the programmed lessons of the past. Reefer, the killer of all who intake. Or is it really an actual cure for the world of sufferers? State after state is making the choice to use this as another weapon in their state s arsenal of medicines. Countless people will testify that it is the one thing that saved their lives, while as with everything there are those whom say that this was the ruination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Illegal drug to be hidden or legal pharmaceutical can be argued until the end of time while there will always be some who disagree, it s human nature. Truly it is hard to remove the programmed thoughts that still remain in our culture that marijuana will always be the reefer madness culprit of the past. Yet the actual benefits need to be given a chance. Why not? If it is something that can help even one person should the public not at least think about it? So while the arguments for both sides remain firm in their belief of the harms and the cures of marijuana, we as an educated society need to follow through with the proper research. Marijuana was initially made illegal at the federal level by the Marijuana TaxStamp Act of 1937. Anyone wanting to sell the drug had to register and pay taxes on it. Then the federal government simply did not allow people to register or pay taxes, so everyone selling marijuana was doing so against the law. This act was struck down after a court challenge by Timothy Leary on Fifth Amendment grounds (of course the government immediately passed another law against it). The IRS, however, still officially requires people to pay taxes on their income from illegal drugs: Illegal income, such as money from dealing illegal drugs, must be include in your income on Form 1040, line 21... (IRS Publication 17, p.87) but in more recent years, many of the states have passed their own specific drug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Cryptosporidium Parvum Cryptosporidium Parvum: Transmission and Infection Cryptosporidium parvum is a protozoan intestinal parasite causing a short term enteric illness in individuals with functioning immune systems, and can cause a potentially fatal infection in immunosuppressed individuals. Because of C. parvum s resistance to many of the procedures used to process drinking water and food, and the parasite s extremely high fecundity, the potential for a large scale outbreak is very high. In fact, C. parvum was responsible for an outbreak in Milwaukee in 1993 when an estimated 403,000 people became ill. This was the largest waterborne outbreak of disease in United States history. This paper will cover some aspects of C. parvum s life cycle, human sickness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The infective dose may be as little as one oocyst, and severe diarrhea can occur, causing the individual to pass up to 20 liters of fluid in one 24 hour period (Donnelly amp; Stentiford, 1997). This inevitably leads to death. Transmission of the parasite can occur in several different ways. Direct transmission can occur by handling infected animal or human feces. One quarter of reported direct transmission infections occurred by direct contact with feces, while the rest were reported to have happened by person to person contact (Donnelly amp; Stentiford, 1997). Person to person transmission can occur through poor hygiene habits or by handling human waste. Daycares and nursing homes are at a high risk for person to person transmission because of the high risk of handling infected feces. Family outbreaks are common, as are outbreaks among children at nurseries (Donnelly amp; Stentiford, 1997). Indirect transmission by the water or foodborne route is one of the most common ways C. parvum is spread. Because of the oocyst s resistance to chlorination, several outbreaks have been caused by waterborne transmission. In one study (Carpenter et al.), oocysts were removed from the feces of an experimentally infected calf, cleaned of fecal matter, and placed into different amounts of chlorinated water at different temperatures. • 8. Analysis Of The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls As frigid snow frosts the sun licked ice, a glacial wind howls against the trees. As a child, one would sip hot chocolate and watch a movie with their family. However, Jeannette Walls would be sitting on a dirty floor, cold with no food. In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, it is revealed that as Jeannette grew up, she endured hardships inflicted upon her by her own parents. However, if Jeannette had not gone through these things, she never would have gained the characteristics that she values present day. Although Jeannette Walls faced destitution and endured anguish during her childhood, these obstacles formed her into a self reliant woman who proves that just because she did not have as much money as other families, she can still achieve success in her life. Throughout her life, starting from childhood, Jeannette Walls suffered through multiple hardships that could lead her away from a successful adult life. Since she was young, her parents put her through things that a child should never be exposed to, which could lead her to make these same mistakes as she grew older. For example, her father was an alcoholic, and from this many problems sprouted. Furthermore, her mother never wanted to be tied down, and loathed the idea of family life, as she did not want the responsibility of raising a family. Rose Mary was depicted as self centered in the novel, and did not think of her children, as she only thought of her own needs. This can be shown when she keeps the diamond ring her children found for herself. Instead of thinking of her starving children, she states that, self esteem is even more vital than food (Walls 186). The first claim is the claim of conspiracy. In this claim, Dr. Stuart has no ground against the doctors of General. This is because officers and employees of the same corporation cannot conspire with each other or with their corporation, similarly two parts of the same organization cannot conspire with each other. As the decision was made solely by the physicians and administrators of General, they can not conspire with one another and therefore cannot commit conspiracy. It is also mentioned in Greene s more recent journal that the Linnean method fails at specifying clades based upon the origin of limbs in tetrapods and shelled egg amniotes. While it also, obscures the fact that crocodilians are more closely related to birds than they are to turtles, lizards, and snakes, which does not highlight many dramatic similarities between earlier archosaurs (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. In the beginning of the story Pip introduces himself, and introduces his dead parents. He is in the graveyard, and then a scary looking man comes up. The man threatens him. Personal Response So far I really enjoy the book. Charles Dickens really pulls me into the book. He uses great figurative language that makes you feel sorry for a character. The people in this book seem so innocent and harmless. Well, except the guy that threatened Pip. They all also seem to live hard lives. They don t have all the benefits that we have today. They have to scrounge around for stuff we never would have to scrounge around for. What is really neat about it, is that they get an enjoyment out of life. They are not well off either. I can t wait to read on further into Charles Dickens novel. Vocabulary So far in this novel there is no vocabulary that really comes to mind. I though I would use this section to talk about figurative language. Charles Dickens uses a lot of figurative language. He says that when Pip goes up into his room, he is in the dark. Literally that means he does not have a candle, so therefore he is in the dark. Figuratively we can interpret it in many ways. One way is to say that Pip isn t a very smart kid. He is and ignorant person. When someone says that someone is in the dark, they usually mean that they are naГЇve. Later on in the story, Pip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At our first look, we see the obvious; the enormous rock Peter Blume placed right in the center. After looking at the scenery going on, I think that the placement and size of the rock is proportioned that way as a sign of it being significant. The way I see it, the monument plays an important role when it comes down to determining why there are so many things going on at once in the painting. With the comparison of the details of the hard working people to the broken rock, half built building, and the smoke, I will establish the reasons of why this picture shows both destruction and loyalty and the ways destruction in this painting also results in uniting the people working. Thesis/Claim: The significance of the monumental rock placed right smack in the core of the painting, is the reason as to why the workers will be united by the desturction that occured to them. Breaking it Down, Part 1: The most coherent pieces of evidence that show the rock is represented as a monument and the workers are there because of it are the proportion and how everyone is working hard around it. Furthermore, what truly differentiates California from any other place in the world is the consistent paradoxical environment. It presents the paradoxical state individuals around the world face on whether to accept the innovation and accept the benefits that come with it, or stay true to the roots of nature and the history that accompanies it. Such change can transform a person to lose the values and beliefs they were raised with which consequently attribute to losing the bonds that they once held with their families. While in the north, individual s sustained close bonds with their families and home. The adults often flocked home during summer vacations or whenever possible. Moreover the children were key players in maintaining close relations between the families in the North and South. Children were often sent to the South for summer vacations, semesters during the school year and some for most of their childhood when their parents moved away. It was not that parents did not want to take them but it was that they wanted the grandparents to raise their children as to instill and not lose sight of family values (Stack, 1996). Although most children were left for grandparents to rear, the children and the young adults were also caring for the elderly by helping them cope with ailments due to old age. In turn the adults in the north were helping their communities back home by sending their hard earned money. Family values and traditions are very important in maintaining social bonds in African American families. In addition, it is clear that African American families are matrifocal and matriarchal. Matrifocality is present in Burdy s Bend Miss Pearl is a great example (Stack, 1996), in the film The Language You Cry In, and as discussed in Dr. Stevenson s in class lecture (J. • 36. A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man In the class reading of A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, we analyzed the life of Stephen Dedalus in relation to his family and to women, and the varying roles they play. From his point of view, we watched the shifting dynamic in his family and his struggles with relationships with the rest of the people around him. Analyzing Stephen s coming of age from such a perspective, that of a virtual stranger, shaped the conclusions that were drawn as well as the life events that were deemed significant. This observation of Stephen s growth, as an outsider looking in, created a barrier of sorts between his life and our interpretations, which skewed our analysis to be less considerate of other aspects of Stephen s character or the events that... Despite the lack of cohesion and the erratic turn of thought it is easy to determine that Stephen is extremely interested in his father, who he describes in detail; however, his relationship with his mother is more ambiguous as she is only described in comparison to Stephen s father. Joyce further reveals Stephen s views on his female counterparts in relation to himself with his innocent comment regarding his neighbor, Eileen Vance. When they were grown up he was going to marry Eileen (Joyce 4). Even at this young age Stephen has a somewhat of a grasp on the roles of men and women in his life. Women are an almost abstract concept to Stephen for much of his youth. He is more aware of the idea of women then their actual self, and this carries into his life as a young adult. Reading this particular part of the book as Stephen s friend, we would no doubt have the same child like views. In fact, as his friend we would see more of his feelings and be privy to more of his thoughts regarding his father, mother, and Eileen. Politics are another determining factor in Stephen s growth as a young man. One of the most prominent exhibitions of the turmoil of politics played out on Stephen s ...
