Royal Museum / Istana Batu
Istana Batu was designed and built in, 1939 during the reign of Sultan lsmail 1. It was used as a
venue for royal weddings as well as to house royal guests. Today, it has been converted into the
Royal Museum where regalia and palace items belonging to former Sultans are on display. There is
also a photographic exhibition on the life of the late Sultan of Kelantan
War Mesuem
The War Museum occupies the oldest brick building in Kelantan, dating back to 1912. This historic
building now houses Japanese memorabilia and documents relating to World War Two.
Handicraft museum
Kelantan's exquisite range of handicrafts is on display here. Silverware, "songket", batik and
woodcarvings are exhibited and are for sale as well
3. Beaches in Kelantan
Pantai Cahaya Bulan
Pantai Cahaya Bulan which means the "Moonlight Beach is perhaps Kelantan’s most famous beach.
Its warm golden sands and crystal blue waters amidst tall and graceful palms encourages one to just
lay on the sand and bask in the sun. The beach stretches to about 1.2km. Cahaya Bulan Beach is
definately a croud puller during the weekends
Irama Beach
Irama Beach (Beach of Melody) It also name as Beach of Melody whose exquisite beauty has inspired
a lyrical name. Pantai lrama (Beach of Melody) situated in the district of Bachok about 25 km south
of Kota Bharu.
Seri Tujuh Beach
Pantai Seri Tujuh is the venue for Annual Malaysian International Kite Festival which held in
Kelantan every year. This beach lies on the border of Thailand and Kelantan at Kampung
Tujuh in Turnpat, about 7 km from Kota Bharu. This pristine beach is sheltered by the
longest lagoon in Malaysia.
4. Waterfalls and Castles in Kelantan
Jeram Lenang is another favourite among the locals. The waterfall is only 12 metres high but
nonetheless, draws the crowds. Bus No. 3 will take you to Pasir Puteh, from where you can
board a taxi to Jeram Lenang
Jeram Pasu is by far the most popular. It is situated off the Kota Bharu - Pasir Puteh road at
Kampung Pak Amat and is accessible by car. Or board Bus No. 3 from the main terminal to
Padang Pak Amat. Then take a taxi from there to the waterfalls, about 8 km away. A dip in
the crystal clear icy water does wonders to the spirit.
lstana Balai Besar This palace was built by Sultan Muhamad 1840 to replace his riverine
palace on the Kelantan river. It now serves as the venue for ceremonial functions and
investiture ceremonies.
5. Other Places Of Interest
Cultural Centre
Kelantan is hailed as the cultural haven of Malaysia. Located on Jalan Mahmud one block
behind the museum, reached via either Jalan Sultan Ibrahim or Jalan Hospital which is close
to the Perdana Hotel, the cultural centre or Gelanggang Seni is a place where Kelantan's rich
cultural heritage may be witness.
Merdeka Square
The site of many historical events, Merdeka Square rose to prominence in 1844 after the
completion of the lstana Besar. It is also known as Padang Bank.
New Central Market
Kelantan's Central Market is a riot of colour. It is one of the most vibrant sites in the country
where traders display brilliantly coloured fresh garden produce.
