Analyzing Multidimensional Networks within MediaWikisBrian Keegan
The MediaWiki platform supports popular socio-technical systems such as Wikipedia as well as thousands of other wikis. This software encodes and records a variety of relationships about the content, history, and editors of its articles such as hyperlinks between articles, discussions among editors, and editing histories. These relationships can be analyzed using standard techniques from social network analysis, however, extracting relational data from Wikipedia has traditionally required specialized knowledge of its API, information retrieval, network analysis, and data visualization that has inhibited scholarly analysis. We present a software library called the NodeXL MediaWiki Importer that extracts a variety of relationships from the MediaWiki API and integrates with the popular NodeXL network analysis and visualization software. This library allows users to query and extract a variety of multidimensional relationships from any MediaWiki installation with a publicly-accessible API. We present a case study examining the similarities and differences between dierent relationships for the Wikipedia articles about "Pope Francis" and "Social media." We conclude by discussing the implications this library has for both theoretical and methodological research as well as community management and outline future work to expand the capabilities of the library.

How Portable Are the Metadata Standards for Scientific Data?Jian Qin
The one-covers-all approach in current metadata standards for scientific data has serious limitations in keeping up with the ever-growing data. This paper reports the findings from a survey to metadata standards in the scientific data domain and argues for the need for a metadata infrastructure. The survey collected 4400+ unique elements from 16 standards and categorized these elements into 9 categories. Findings from the data included that the highest counts of element occurred in the descriptive category and many of them overlapped with DC elements. This pattern also repeated in the elements co-occurred in different standards. A small number of semantically general elements appeared across the largest numbers of standards while the rest of the element co-occurrences formed a long tail with a wide range of specific semantics. The paper discussed implications of the findings in the context of metadata portability and infrastructure and pointed out that large, complex standards and widely varied naming practices are the major hurdles for building a metadata infrastructure.

Lesley Ann Noel CGCS Strategic Marketing Plan UWI ACEM submission 2009Lesley Ann Noel
The Caribbean Gift and Craft Show (CGCS) is an annual trade fair for handicrafts, gifts and souvenirs made in the Caribbean and it is hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export or CEDA). 2008 marked the fifteenth anniversary of the show. The show has reached ‘maturity’ stage and is at a point where it must be developed to ensure growth and avoid stagnation or decline.
This strategic marketing plan outlines several strategies to be used in re-designing the event. These strategies were developed based on SWOT, PESTLE and Competitor analyses, as well as feedback from research with stakeholders.
The main focus of the strategies is to generate interest from the buyers, the media and the general public by transforming the current Caribbean Gift and Craft Show into a more ‘stakeholder-focussed’ Caribbean Gift and Craft Festival. The report outlines the details of each of seven strategies, the marketing mix necessary to generate this interest locally and regionally, as well as the action and implementation plan for the years 2010 - 2012.

ESSA-2011 poster - Netlogo wiki systems modeling Evgeny Patarakin
The paper discusses a wiki-based network communities multi-agent research model. The cases for the model application include a Russian educational wiki portal letopisi.ru and a wiki platform for drafting the Russian Law on education.
The quality of information on Wikipedia may vary depending on the topic and the language version. If we learn how to automatically determine the the best language version of the particular article (or even part of the article), it can simplify the task of enriching less developed language editions of the Wikipedia. During the presentation, measures that can be extracted from Wikipedia's articles for the automatic evaluation of content quality in different languages are briefly presented. These measures can be relevant to various quality dimensions, such as completeness, reliability, up-to-dateness, readability and others. In addition, measures for assessing the data quality in the infobox are presented. Methods and sources for the extraction of measures also discussed briefly. Next - short information about WikiRank, Infoboxes.net and WikiBest projects. At the end - additional information related quality assessment of multilingual Wikipedia.

Open Source project failure often stems from not setting clear objectives or having a shared vision from the start. That said there are many success stories, including two well known Statistical examples: Demetra; and Eurostat SDMX tools (SDMX-RI). However, in all these examples there was at first a founding organisation/entity that created the right environment for its successful path into a new paradigm. In the context of my presentation this being the Statistical Information System Collaboration Community (SIS-CC / http://siscc.oecd.org).

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
