This document discusses waste heat recovery using thermoelectric generators. It begins by introducing the Seebeck effect which allows heat to be directly converted to electricity via a temperature gradient across conductors. The key factors for good thermoelectric materials - high Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity and low thermal conductivity - are discussed. Lead telluride is identified as a suitable high performance material for recovering waste heat between 200-600°C. A thermoelectric couple model is analyzed using ANSYS software, showing a voltage of 0.074806V, current of 19.083A and power of 1.4275W can be generated.
