Assistant Sales Manager Job
Description & Salary
Overview
Assistants to Sales Managers are professional individuals who provide a vital line of support
to Sales Managers in many ways for example; managing and handling calls, providing a
liaison with customers in previous, mid and post-purchase positions, managing records and
logs, and ensuring a focused and productive workforce.
Day-to-day activities / duties and responsibilities
 Supporting those in managerial positions
 Assisting with Sales in all stages of process
 Conducting research to build upon the usefulness of an Assistant’s responsibilities
 Providing interesting and insightful ideas to the management to further improve the
paradigm of Sales
 Professionally conversing with customers awaiting to contact a manager
 Sensibly and trustingly handle complaints and other customer issues
 Organising meetings by contacting others, booking a meeting place etc.
 Assisting with data management
 Knowledge of business process
 Knowledge of stock management
 Knowledge of market change and the importance of such a process
 Conducting paramount market research
 Ensuring codes of conduct are not broken, and the knowledge behind why this is
important to uphold
 Ensuring that all promotional material is up to date
 Handling administration, including but not limited to, logs, customer data, company
data, sales trafficking etc.
 Arranging meetings between company and clients
 Handling of high profile clients
 Ensure staff are up to date with all updated company processes
Workplace and working hours
The most common place of work will be in a high-rise office located in Birmingham City Centre.
Meetings and customer enquiry may require you to work elsewhere from the office, by travelling to
other city-based sites.
The office standard working times are 9am to 5pm but you may be required to work overtime during
busy periods such as the pre-Christmas period.

Salary
The current starting salary for this position due to varying reasons can range from £16,000
to £21,000 per annum.
When developed into an experienced Sales Manager, a salary of up to £40,000 can be
expected.
Qualifications and entry requirements
Preferably, the assistant will have pre-existing knowledge of business practice and handling
of sales.
The following educational qualifications are sought after for this position:
 A degree in Accountancy, Business, Marketing or similar
 Btec Level 5 Diploma in Business or Business and IT
 Btec Level 3 Diploma in Business or IT
 A-Level Business, Mathematics, Accountancy, or similar
 Relevant work experience in Sales and Marketing
 Relevant work experience in big business
Skills and personal attributes
The following skills are very much sought in candidates for the role:
 Administration: Holding this position brings the requirement over administrating
various data. This is the main role for the Assistant and therefore a skill which is
foremost required for the job.
 Time management: The process of sales is a fast paced yet tightly-nit operation, all
assistants must have a sound knowledge when it comes to managing time and
fulfilling their expectations before a self-given deadline.
 Professional mannerisms: Liaising with customers comes with the requirement of
being professional and collected when dealing with members of the public. The
position at hand required you to be at the utmost level of professionalism when
dealing with people within and outside of the company.

Job challenges and disadvantages

 Pressure and stress are very common in sales due to a very fast paced, yet carefully
planned paradigm required and enforced every day
 Workloads can be very heavy in sales, especially during busy periods such as the
build up to Christmas which may bring the requirement of extra hours
 Administration is a very heavy part of the job, the majority of work will be taken up
by planning, data handling, and paperwork. This can be a very arduous process but is
required with any level of data management
Opportunity, career prospects and job progression
The position of a Sales assistant brings much in the way of prospects of position. Assisting a
