How Relations between Superpowers Worsened between 1959 and the Summer of 1962
There are many reasons why relations between the superpowers worsened between 1959 and the
summer of 1962. The USA and USSR were already enemies. This was because they both
represented different ideas. The USA was capitalist, however, The USSR was communist whose
beliefs clashed with Capitalism. Superpower relations were based on fear and suspicion. They
both tried to restrict the influence of the other. In 1947 the Truman Doctrine was published by the
US president Harry Truman. It offered help to any country that was being threatened either from or
within its own borders. This was USA using its power and wealth to ... Show more content on

They tried to have bigger better bombs than the superpower.
In 1962 both leaders were testing nuclear bombs. This is when they decided to test in Cuba. This
lead to the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Overall relations worsened between superpowers in many
different ways ranging from small to large issues. I think the most important factor in worsening
relations was the changes in Cuba, If these had not taken place then Castro would not have
eventually asked for help from the USSR and a war may not have taken place in Cuba. I think all
the of things that took place more important though some were more than others. They all linked
together and eventually caused a Cuban Missile crisis to take place in 1962.
2) Why did a crisis develop in 1962 about Cuba?
A crisis developed in 1962 for many reasons. Firstly a crisis developed because of 2 reasons,
competition and Arms rivalry. Competition was events such as the arms race where both sides
fought to have bigger better weapons than the other side. They also competed against each other
through sport, trying to win the most Olympic gold s and competed by trying to influence peoples
beliefs and getting more people to support their ideology, either communism or capitalism. There
was also Arms rivalry which was similar as this was also competing for better weapons. This all
contributed to a crisis developing because they were both

The Concepts Of Nature Vs Nurture
The concepts of Nature vs Nurture, are major concepts in social science. Nature is the hereditary
pattern of physical features in a human being s development. These features include, but are not
limited to, our personality, usual and unusual appearances and the general measurements of how
humans hold the attributes of being sociable, hostile behavior, their emotions, and the usage of
alcohol and drugs. On the other hand Nurture is slightly different. Nurture is the influence of the
environment that plays upon the behavior and characteristics in a human. The idea of nurture is
that humans will grow up to form their personality on the way they are raised and life experiences.
Culture is defined by the people in the environment, however, the environment helps shape and
form human personalities in order to forge a culture. Culture is created by religions/beliefs, clothing
/foods, language/social habits as well as the humanistic discipline; such as music, paintings,
literature, and many more. Culture is generated by humankind, because humans hold their belief
systems and patterns that was passed down by generations; by humans passing down what they
have learned from their families this begins to create a culture. Personality plays a central role in
both nature vs nurture and culture. Furthermore, personality is stated the total organization of
inherited and acquired characteristics of an individual as evidenced by the individual s behavior
(Hunt 119). Personality is either

love is
not the central theme of the book. The topic that does reoccur and therefore proposes itself as
the central principle, however, is the idea associated behind the process of healing from pain. In
the book, both Frederic Henry and Catherine Barkley had to fight against pain during the times
when Barkley loses her first lover, when Henry suffers from the trench mortar trauma, and when
Henry bids farewell to the dying Barkley. In the opening pages of the book, Hemingway did a
fantastic job in highlighting Barkley s grief for her lost lover. Notably, Barkley had never met
Henry before, but with his mention of the stick which belonged to her fiance, she instinctively
talked with anguish. He was a very nice boy. He was going to marry me and he was killed in the
Somme... He could have had anything he wanted if I would have known (Hemingway 18 19).
Even so, the next night she would allow Henry to give her a kiss. Oh, darling, she said. You will
be good to me, won t you? (Hemingway 27). To many this would have appeared to be a romantic
scene, but in reality, however, Barkley s mind is elsewhere;

The Harsh And Cold War At Valley Forge Analysis
The Harsh and Cold War at Valley Forge
The freezing air is blowing as I lay in bed listening to the soldiers moan struggling to survive in this
harsh war. There are many bitter conditions here at Valley Forge. There is a big risk staying here as
we struggle to stay alive. My hut is filled with smoke and is surrounded by the cold snow. We have
huts that are a few feet long and have a small fireplace on one side and a door on the other. The
food here is horrible and barely keeps us alive. We get a small piece of meat each day and a little bit
of cornmeal. I have decided to re enlist for 3 reasons which are that I need to fight for a cause, to
help the sick and dying army, and to get my family and aging mother into a free country.

Torres Strait Islanders Identity
For most of their (over) 45,000 years history, Torres Strait Islanders have established their own
unique identity as a group and within their respective collectives, partially due to limited contact
between the Torres Strait Islands and Europeans, until Britain s colonisation in 1788; Therefore, the
last two centuries as a result of colonisation have undoubtedly effectuated the alienation of the
Torres Strait Islanders, and ergo had pernicious influences on their identity. As argued by Mua
Makereta business exploitations in the 1860s by pearl shells particularly changed the Torres Strait
Islandsas the QueenslandGovernment formally annexed the islands , and made a centre for the
marine industry on Thursday Island as the Europeans viewed the islanders as a lesser breed who
had no right in deciding what would happen to the Islands. Usually contact between the Europeans
and the Islanders was often transient and socially distanced, but the arrival of the London
Missionary Society in 1871 on the Islands resulted in their attempt to impose Christian discipline on
the Islanders, therefore manipulating their identity. Although they typically didn t allow music,
when they did the teachers from the London Missionary Society were especially suspicious of the
islanders traditional dances and songs, but tolerated South Sea dance. Cambridge scientist W.H.R.

Essay about canadian tire audit report
Client risk profile
Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited (CTC) is primarily a canadian retailer, focusing on automotive
and general merchandise. Founded in 1922, the company has been around for almost a century,
building strong brand recognition in Canada. Initially starting as a car parts retailer they have
expanded rapidly into other areas, mainly general merchandise retail. They have other secondary
divisions being; Partsource Automotive stores (strictly automotive parts), Financial Services, Mark
s Work Wearhouse (clothing retailer), FGL Sports Ltd. (various sporting good retail chains), and
Canadian Tire Petroleum (gas stations and car washing). The main users of CTC s financial

This system causes many inefficiencies, both financial and non financial, for CTR in comparison
to its competitors (EXHIBIT CIBC REPORT). However, the dealer corporation model is as old
as Canadian Tire itself and extremely unlikely to change. Essentially the dealer is responsible for
everything in store, and the corporation takes care of the rest. A list of segregated responsibilities
can be seen in Exhibit Z.
Going Concern Canadian Tire Corporation is in good financial standing and extremely unlikely
to bankrupt in coming years. Currently CTC s debt to equity ratio is 0.242 below the industry
average of 1.557, with a current ratio 0.614 above the industry average of 1.061. Addressing the
debt to equity shortfall, CTC has decreased its debt to equity from 1.897 to 1.739 between third
quarters of 2012 and 2010. This is including the acquisition of FGL Sports Ltd. which spiked debt
in 2011. (CITE ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES) There is no issue of going concern.
Technology IT is centrally managed for each of CTC s specific divisions. Retail stores use
software to keep track of inventory and prices regarding items in stores. The stores then transmit
this information to make purchases from CTC. It is an integral part of their supply chain and retail
operations. They are continuing to upgrade these internally developed systems, which could pose a
risk for exceptions. These systems will require increased test of controls

How Did Bill Gates Change The World
According to the Oxford Dictionary a leader is someone who commands a group, organization or
country. Now, ask yourself this: Did Jeff Bezos become the richest man in the world, by
commanding those around him? Did Steve Jobs or Bill Gates change the world of technology. by
ordering people around? No one change the world for the better through absolute power, rather,
these people changed the world by inspiring everyone around them. From my personal experience,
and when we examine history, a successful leader does not lead using fear or commands, but with
compassion by inspiring those around them. Throughout history, some of the most successful
leaders have been those who motivated their followers by giving them a moral purpose. While other
leaders throughout history attempted to inspire soldiers with physical wealth, greed eventually led

in this challenge, and eventually, one man even found a way to help stop malaria for just a

Sasanian Influence Essay
Sasanian influence was widespread throughout the Islamic world. But it is quite hard to
differentiate the earliest Islamic objects from their archetypes in Persian or Sassanid art. And it
took a significant amount of times, sometimes even centuries for the majority of the population to
convert, including artists, after the Muslim conquest. But even in the objects that were created
later on, an effect of the predecessor cultures can be seen. Islamic architecture, especially in
places such as Baghdad for example, was based on Persian precedents such as Firouzabad in
Persia. In fact, it has now been discovered that the two designers who were employed by al
Mansur to plan the city s design were Naubakht, a former Persian Zoroastrian, and Mashallah,...

Ctesiphon palace had influenced Muslim artists more than anything. The decorative styles used
in the palace were adopted by the Muslims and were portrayed in a lot of Umayyad and Abbasid
palaces. The palace was built by Khursaw I. It was built of brick kilns, and had an audience hall,
where it is said that three thrones were placed for the three great rulers of the world of that era,
i.e. the emperor of Rome, the emperor of China and the Khagan of Turks; for the time when they
would come to submit to the Sasanian Empire. Similar feature could be seen in the Umayyad
palace at Qusayr Amra, where the frescoes show six rulers of the world in attendance to the
Umayyad caliph. The audience hall in the Ctesiphon palace itself is heavily decorated with
frescoes, which were left untouched even after the Muslim conquest of Persia. That is probably;
where from, the Muslim artist adopted the use of frescoes and can be seen in their medieval
structure. Frescoes were also recently discovered in Shahr e Gur, which further implies that the
Umayyad floor frescoes have not been adopted from the classical floor mosaics but rather the
traditional decorative medium of

Effects Of Justice In Snow Falling On Cedars
Crime can be defined as any action or omission which constitutes an offence and is punishable by
law. The representations of crime in fiction has developed and changed dramatically over centuries
according to shifts in values and perceptions. Each of the three texts Snow Falling on Cedars,
Oceans 11 and Shift , explore different aspects of crime, centred around the duality of good and evil
through the redefinition of justice. Societies are always changing. This means that texts will always
embody different values according to their context and can influence the meaning and message of

Identify The Different Types Of Sports Players
The Different Types of Sport Players
Playing three sports throughout high school has given me the opportunity to notice that there are at
least three common types of players in every sport. Being apart of many different sports throughout
my life has shown me that it doesn t matter if it s little league, high school, or just playing around
with some friends on the weekends, but every sport has led me to notice that there are three main
types of players: the team player, the me player, and the bench player. The team player is widely
known to be all about team. They are hard working in practice and in games. They work hard to
put most of their focus on the team, making sure everyone else s focus is on the same thing and
that no one is selfish. The team player is usually awarded being a captain of some sort, someone

The me player is prideful. They are less worried about the team and more worried about the
playing time he or she is receiving in games, whether the coach is watching him or her when he
or she does something good. Normally this player tries to do too much, takes the spotlight from
the team, and places it on themselves. I have seen two extremes with the me player: the first is
he or she is very good. He or she have talent, and he or she knows the coach notices his or her
skills. The second is where he or she is very bad, and has no talent, yet they still want to try to
earn the spotlight. Lastly, we have the bench player. The bench player sits on the bench cheering
on his or her team. The bench player has some skill and is sometimes used as second or third
string player. Mostly, the bench player is used in practice; their job is to work the really good
players, (the starters) to practice and train them in such a way that the next game, they play well.
The bench player is very resourceful and is just as important as the players

Team Cohesion
Groups, teams, and organizations are dynamic (not static), exhibit life and vitality, interaction, and
activity; and consist of a collection of two or more individuals that possess a common identity,
pursue common goals and objectives, share a common fate, and interact through structured patterns
and modes of communication (Eys, Burke, Dennis, Evans, 2015).
Cohesion is reflected in the group s tendency to stick together and remain united as they pursue a
common set of goals and objectives that satisfy each member s affective (e.g., moods, feelings, and
attitudes) needs (Eys et al., 2015).
As validated by research studies, team cohesion, a dynamic process reflected in a team s bond and
unity to achieve a goal, is an important psychological factor affecting athletic performance (i.e., as
team cohesion increases, so does performance and success) (Kim, Park, Kim, 2017). Groups are
united in two principle ways: task and social (Eys et al., 2015). ... Show more content on

Detroit, the motor city, known by many for cars and to others for being the murder capital of the
world. This has caused many people to stop visiting and exclude Detroit from being a place of
interest. I have lived here all my life, and yes it has had its rough times but lately Detroit has been
improving drastically. The causes of the city to improve were to make people already living here

this we want people to start visiting again and to see the metamorphosis that has struck our city.
Many recent changes brought to our city have been architectural, criminal rates precipitating and

Although we face economical issues, dealing with the bankruptcy has been priority to many. By

Dogs Are The Better Pet Over Dogs
More people in the US own cats than they do dogs. In the US, 95.6 million people own cats
compared to the 83.3 million who own dogs ( Pets by the Numbers ). 12.3 million more people
own felines than they do canines. There are a few explanations why felines are favored over
canines in the US. Felines are the superior petover canines by population because cats cost the
owner less money than dogs do, they do not need too much for their maintenance, they do not
depend the owner as much as dogs do, and are usually healthier and have a longer life span.
The first reason why cats are the better pet over dogs is because cats cost less to maintain as far as
yearly and medical costs. The yearly cost for cats is around $450 which is significantly different
from the $660 yearly cost for a dogs ( Cat vs Dog ). Bottom line, dogs are one and a half times
more costly than the typical yearly cost for a cat. Nevertheless, there is an even greater price
percentage for medical bills when we relate these two animals. The average medical fee for a cat is
only $160 a year. Whereas, a dogs fee can be $290 a year or more ( Cat vs Dog ). There is a
substantial variance in cost when comparing dogs and cats. Studies, have shown that no matter
which way they look at it, cats are cheaper.
Cats aren t better just because they have lower yearly costs and medical fees, but also because cats
do not need as much maintenance as dogs do. Both need love from the owner, but apart from love,
they need other

publicized following the discovery of unethical and fraudulent business practices in major
corporations. Practices at Tyco, Enron, Arthur Anderson, and WorldCom, among others, have made

My ethical perspectives have evolved through my MBA curriculum by inspiring changes in my
choices and behaviors. My awareness concerning ethical and social responsibilities has also
changed. I have been educated about the magnitude of ethical demeanor and development of my
guiding principles in addition to cultivating a positive societal image. Moral values and norms
result in behaviors valued by the workplace and society. Based on my perspective, an individual
should not demonstrate unethical actions for the sake of his or her vested interests. Practicing a
moral approach demonstrates a commitment to critical social responsibilities. This also raises the
question of altruism. Some people agree with the altruistic concept while others oppose the
philosophy. Should individuals assume a sympathetic stance for the sole purpose of assisting
others? Some take the sympathetic stance to the extreme of carrying others or taking on the
responsibilities of others. In my view, practicing an ethical code of conduct is obligatory as well as
giving consideration to the requests of external as well as internal stakeholders without assuming
the responsibilities of others. Donating to the social welfare of society is crucial as individuals
should not enact unethical behaviors that are destructive to others or society. To cheat [someone]

holiest, and sacred places to be at. We arrived there later in the Afternoon. After we checked into
our hotel, we went and explored the city. And while exploring the city we saw many beautiful
temples, and all these lead us to the main temple, the Badrinath Temple. We had to cross over a
small walking bridge which went over the Alaknandha River, It went with such force, and if you
sit in that water nonstop for more than ten fifteen minutes, you will surely have a heart failure,
because the water is that cold, and we are at an extreme altitude. And the most Ironic thing about
this cold river is after we crossed it we have to bathe before we enter the temple, even if we had
bathed in the morning. When we went to the place we were supposed to bathe, we came to find
out that it was a hot spring and this hot spring was ten feet away from the extremely cold
Alaknanda waters, ironic enough, I thought so. After we finished bathing there was a ritual which
we had to perform. We had to get into brand new clothes and we had to give the clothes were
wearing to the more unfortunate people. So after we did that, we went into the main temple, it was
enriched with beautiful colors and sculptures all made since the time the temple was created. We
had gone in and while we were coming outside, we

The political problems are seen as a long term problem; political problems can also be seen as
being as a main factor that was responsible for the 1905 revolution. Russia was still an autocracy,
all power rested with the Tsar. Other major European states were a democracy and had an
elected parliament that spoke and worked for the people. Political groups began to form, the
Social Revolutionaries were founded in 1901, they were willing to use violence to achieve a
change in Russia, from 1901 1905 the Social Revolutionaries were responsible for over two
thousand assassinations, one being the Tsar s Uncle, Grand Duke Sergei the governor general of
Moscow.
The Social Democrats were another influential political group, formed in 1898 they two were also
willing to use violent methods to achieve their revolutionary aims. The Social Democrats wanted
to turn society around and give power to the workers and peasants of the land. By 1905 the Social
Democrats has split into two groups, the Bolsheviks and Mensheviks.
All these political groups began to educate the country on revolutionary change, how other countries
were richer and more powerful, how they needed change if they wanted a better life. After Bloody

Massive Tourism Project The Peoples Republic of China which is called Exhibit and Travel
Group (ETG) has made a plan with the state government of Yap in the Federated States of
Micronesia to initiate the development of a massive tourism project. Certainly, it plays an important
role on offering some benefits to Yapese people. For instance, the crush of tourismin Yapled to a
drastically development of local economy. It was, however, generated a considerable numbers of
problems to the people of Yap because of the massiveness of the extent of the tourism. According
to Bill Jaynes and Bernadette Grong, they claim that many Yapese believe that the development
will cost Yap its identity and that it also has a potential to destroy its environment (Jaynes and
Grong, 2012). The population of Yap is too small for such a massive project to generate. The
island is certainly not a such big place to hold this incredible project. Of the 10,000 of the
estimated population which is about 11,000 people, the massive tourism project claims to offer
jobs (Weekly, 2012). However, those people are satisfied with their living conditions and do no
have extravagant hopes to have extra earnings. They are indeed worried about their Yapese culture
would be eroded because of the mass of foreigners crushing to their island and develop their
business. Father Hagileiram declares that he is concerned that increasing tourism could lead to an

My Favourite Actress
I could not wait till I got home today; today was the awards show and my favorite actress was
nominated for so many things. This actress also happened to be my best friend. Ever since high
school, her and I have been unstoppable. I made sure she never quit trying to become an actress
which was part of the reason she is where she is today. She had been in so many movies that
came out this year and each performance as graceful as the last. Unfortunately I couldn t attend
the event with her because I had an important meeting with my boss to go to earlier in the day
and wouldn t be able to get there in time. I got home and made popcorn to go along with the show.
Before I got the chance to eat any of it or even turnon the tv a knock was heard from my door. I
opened it to see a bunch of my friendswith food and drinks and smiles on their faces. I told them
not to throw a party at my house but they seem to not listen. As they came barging in, they took
up seats and then waiting for me to sit down. I sat and we turned the tv on and waited for my
best friend to win all the awards she possibly could, all of which she rightfully deserved. The host
of the show came to begin the show but had a confused look on her face. Something was wrong
with the tv equipment and they were telling her this. Many people came and took her off the
stage; a glance of a camera shot on my friend and she had a very frightening face on. What was

During the Industrial revolution innumerable deaths were caused by the outbreak of infectious
diseases. Due to the lack of sanitation in Industrial Britain disease spread through towns and

were often overcrowded with up to thirty people living in one building at one time. Other
problems such as sewage leaks and pipe burst contributed to the spread of diseases. Polluted

The Pros And Cons Of Genetic Engineering And Animal Cloning

Genetic engineering/animal cloning A genetically engineered animal is one that contains altered
genetic material to give the animal new traits or characteristics. There are many animals that have
been genetically modified for example, mice, pigs, cows and sheep are just a few of the animals
they experiment on. Most genetic engineering is directed toward providing more benefits to our
society which can be ethically contentious. In reproductive cloning (animal cloning) researchers
remove a mature skin cell from the animal that they want to copy then, they transfer it into a egg
that has removed its DNA containing nucleus. The clones are superior breeding animals that
will produce healthier offspring. There is both upsides and downsides to genetic engineering
and animal cloning. In the United States animal cloning is regulated by the FDA or, Food and
Drug Administration and for the most part is not considered to be illegal. There are also close to
no laws regulating genetic engineering in animals in the United States. The FDA says that it is
just as safe to eat a cloned animal as it is to eat an animal that was conventionally bred. Cloning
does not modify or manipulate an animals genetics or DNA, it is an exact copy of the animal.
Then the cloned animal is used to help livestock breeders with the reproduction of their most
productive livestock and create healthier offspring. Our society benefits from animal cloning
because, it is

Teacher and National Development
LITERATURE REVIEW
It is a known fact today that, there is fall, degradation, lost of value in the nation. There is increase

development.
Many people attributed this to our system of education as people say No nation can grow above
the level of her education . This is to bring to light the significant of the correlation between the
three key concepts Education Teacher and National Development .

The division between primary and secondary education is somewhat arbitrary, but it generally
occurs at about eleven or twelve years of age. Some education systems have separate middle
schools, with the transition to the final stage of secondary education taking place at around the age
of fourteen. Schools that provide primary education, are mostly referred to as primary schools.
Primary schools in these countries are often subdivided into infant schools and junior school.
Secondary school
In most contemporary educational systems of the world, secondary education comprises the formal
education that occurs during adolescence. It is characterized by transition from the typically
compulsory, comprehensive primary education for minors, to the optional, selective tertiary, post
secondary , or higher education (e.g. university, vocational school) for adults. Depending on the
system, schools for this period, or a part of it, may be called secondary or high schools,
gymnasiums, lyceums, middle schools, colleges, or vocational schools. The exact meaning of any
of these terms varies from one system to another. The exact boundary between primary and
secondary education also varies from country to country and even within them, but is generally
around the seventh to the tenth year of schooling. Secondary education

Factors Contribute Toward Increasing Job Satisfaction And
factors contribute toward increasing job satisfaction and motivating an employee into a higher
performance. Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory:
This theory follows a category of needs that need to be fulfilled for an individual to feel satisfied.
Maslow s categorizes them in a hierarchical order where there are low tier needs that are basic and
have to be fulfilled in order to satisfy the upper tier needs that are more important. This aspect
explains the motivation theory as one is determined to satisfy the low tier needs and motivated to
satisfy the upper and luxurious needs. These five needs are as follow (Jerome, 2013):

Expectancy Theory:
Vroom s expectancy theory is different from the content theories of Maslow and Herzberg.
Expectancy theory is based on a result of conscious choices among alternatives that reflects
individual distinction in performance motivation (Lunenburg, 2011). it further states that there are a
relationships between the effort put at a work and the result of their performance from that effort
such as rewards. expectancy is the estimate of the performance level expected in relation to the
effort put. It ranges between 0 and 1. Valence on the other hand is the strength either positive or
negative of an employee s preference towards a promised reward. It ranges from 1 to +1. When this
is factored in instrumentality; the estimate that a certain performance causes varying work
outcomes, the formula for motivation is obtained. Motivation = Expectancy x Instrumentality x
Valence
(Including the 4 assumptions of the expectancy theory) (Lunenburg, 2011)
The expectancy theory however, has its own methods of employee motivation. Effort to
performance expectancy encourages leaders to increase their faith in employees that they will
complete the job. Increasing training, hiring qualified employees, providing enough time and
suggesting improvements to the tasks promote effort to performance expectancy. Performance to
reward expectancy encourages employers to

Kneeling during the national anthem is incredibly disrespectful to our country and the military

Why Was Ancient Greek Culture Important
The Importance of Ancient Greek Culture
The ancient Greeks were unquestionably a gargantuan reason that today s civilizations are
remarkably developed. Their ideas have affected multiple generations. In many ways too. For
example their political, religious, and economic structures have all altered the United States and
even the world. These three aspects are just a few instances of the importance of Ancient Greece.
These, however, are the main reasons that Ancient Greecewas so esteemed.
One aspect of culture that was essential in ancient Greece was politics. Before most of ancient

This is displayed in Sophocles s play where the text reads: You know your orders: take her to the
vault and leave her alone there. And if she lives or dies, that s her affair, not ours: our hands are
clean . Creon had enough trust in the gods that he decided to basically force Antigone to pray to
the gods to let her live. She was left in a vault where she had no contact with anybody. While
some Greeks did believe in the gods to a great extent, there is also evidence that most of them did
not. Many of Greeks did not regularly pray to the gods. This is proven in the quote: ...it is easy
to overlook the fact that most Greeks believed in their gods in roughly the modern sense of the
term and that they prayed in a time of crisis not merely to the relevant deity... . This evinces that it
was only crucial to pray when there was a crisis or vital problem. Obviously, it is clear to see that
religion was important to the Greeks, but another aspect that was important was the economy.
Finally, the economic aspect of ancient Greece was important to the Greek culture. If a Greek had
more wealth, it would display that they had more authority and power than other poorer citizens.
Sophocles 441 B.C. play Antigone explains, however, in the quote, ...the wisest have sometimes
been known to count a few coins too many. Creon contrastingly expresses his idea of wealth. He
clarifies that the economic system is imperfect and should be improved. He basically explains that

Biofilms are communities of bacterial cells. Bacterial cells become much more antibiotic tolerant
by forming biofilms. Antibiotic resistance causes more than two million infections and 23,000
deaths in the United States every year. It is really urgent that we need to understand the biofilm
formation so that we can develop novel antibiotics. People have found out that there are some
signaling molecules, which are critical for biofilm formation. However, we do not know how the
distributions of signaling molecules determine individual cell fate during tolerance and persistence
development. Studying the spatial and temporal distributions of signaling molecules in single cell

Spinach was discovered using the Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment
(SELEX) technique against DFHBI immobilized on agarose resin. People have developed
Spinach based sensors against adenosine, ADP, S adenosyl methionine (SAM), guanine, cyclic
di GMP (c di GMP) and GTP using existing aptamer sequences. A key challenge for RNA based
sensors is that they normally function poorly in cells. This is because RNA is easily degraded
by nuclease and also has poor folding in intracellular. Poor folding RNA can be contributed by
many elements, such as the difference folding structures and thermal instability, or rely on ion
concentration. Later people developed 49 nt long aptamer Broccoli, which has brighter green
fluorescence upon binding DFHBI. Folding of Broccoli only needs low concentration of
magnesium and the Mg2+ presents low amount in body so Broccoli can fold better than Spinach.
Broccoli also has a higher thermostability than Spinach. Additionally, Broccoli does not require a
tRNA scaffold to promote its folding in vivo. However, under cellular imaging conditions, Spinach
and Broccoli show greatly reduced fluorescence compared with nominal brightness. It has been
known that the fluorescence decrease of Spinachв€’DFHBI is not due to irreversible
photobleaching like GFP. It is caused by reversible conversion to a non fluorescent state and the
signal can be recovered

Essay on Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach
Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach
Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach employs the sounds of language in three ways, through
onomatopoeia to aurally represent the actions occurring on the beach, a varying meter which
mirrors the varying heights of the waves on the beach, and a rhyme scheme which searches for its
identity. In each stanza of the poem when the sounds of language are chaotic, the visual
descriptions in the poem are tranquil, but when the visual descriptions are chaotic, the sounds of
language become tranquil. This never resolved struggle represents the struggle the speaker finds
himself in, which is about looking for something in his world which sounds and looks agreeable
with his beliefs.

(line 1) and ?light? (line 3) through sound instill an idea of chaos in the reader?s mind, how can
light be present in something associated with dark such as night? There are also few cases of
words that appear to rhyme due to similar letter arrangements. The meter is in chaos as the
number of feet per line increases to a point then decreases and increases again throughout the
stanza. Since the first stanza is the largest this process occurs more often in the first stanza than
in any other. The meter also reminds the reader of the chaotic waves that will tamper with any
tranquil beach scene. The beach is not a place the speaker can go to relax and enjoy his life with his
loved one. Visually it appears to be such a place, but as he calls the reader and his loved one to the
window we hear the sense of chaos he hears on the beach.
In the second stanza, sounds of language are at peace, but the visuals in the stanza represent the
chaos Sophocles noted in a similar position as the speaker. This stanza has a definite rhyme
scheme, abacbc. There are no questionable end rhymes. There is no example of onomatopoeia in
this stanza that stands out to aurally represent to the reader an event on the beach that occurs
visually. The meter of the poem, while it does change in the wave motion, the change is consistent.
The meter of the first half of the stanza moves from iambic trimeter to iambic tetrameter, to iambic
pentameter. This process is repeated for the next three

Reducing High School Dropouts
In the education system today, competition for scholarships and acceptance into college is
increasingly competitive. In order to access to these advantageous opportunities, students in high
school work diligently in order to maintain high grades. As a consequence, distractions, and even
worse, falling behind, can be disastrous. Many of these said distractions however, are fellow
students themselves. Just as many students strive for excellence, others barely pass for mediocracy,
and they drag diligent students down in their apathy of school. In order to remove these
distractions, it could be suggested that by lowering the high schooldropoutage, it would benefit
studious students by removing those who don t wish to be attending school.... Show more content on

These opponents sight many reasons and examples of why the high school age should not be
lowered. One of these reasons is that they do not believe that allowing a juvenile to decide such a
defining moment in their life without parental consent. As many high school drop outs potentially
earn a drastically lower salary than their high school diploma receiving counter parts, it is seen as
irresponsible to allow, what is essentially a child, to make such a devastating life

How Is Hawaiian Culture Intertwined
Cultures Intertwined Two cultures intertwined in Hawai i, but which lifestyle will help succeed
in the modern day Hawai i? Hawaiian lifestyle has been with the Islands since the day the
Tahitians first arrived to Hawai i. In the book Hawaiian History, Richard Lighter states traditional
hawaiian culture consists of many life lessons that helped the natives thrive (pg 24). Wealth wasn
t redundant by money; it was weighted by the abundance of food, water, and love. The three
things that is needed to live a healthy life. In Hawai i, there is also a lifestyle that is modernized.

Their work ethic took time and required patience. According to the book, Hawaiian History, the
natives would work together to prosper throughout time. It took years to finish a project like a
fishpond. In the book Hawaiian fishponds, Ten natives from each Ahupua a stood in a line to
carry lava rocks from the North shore to the South East shore (Summers 34). There were hundreds
of thousands of rocks that the Hawaiians had to carry over, but it was all for the fishponds.
Fishponds were the source of life to the Hawaiians. The work ethic instilled into the fishponds
shows that the Hawaiians are patient, humble, and hard working. To keep a fishpond running, it
takes years upon years, takes humility to provide good mana for your fishpond and hard work to

Commentary on Dickens Bleak House Essay
Commentary on Dickens Bleak House
Dickens proves himself to be a true master of description through his novel Bleak House . The
book represents what seems to be the highest point of his intellectual maturity, portraying a dismal
city under attack by dismal weather tied by perfectly dismal laws. Dickens opens chapter one by
introducing literary devices such as personification, phonological features and repetition to his
description, thus setting the scene whilst stressing the mood he is trying to convey.
The usage of the present tense rather than the past removes the linear dictation by time and restricts
knowledge to situation rather than chronology. To refer to the end (or non end) of the fog... Show

Dickens craft in creating intense and convincing scenes in his novels is reflected in Bleak House
where the initial chapter is located in the financial core of London. Through the application of a
financial lexis, the reader is instinctively drawn towards the main location where Dickens describes
the masses of mud to be accumulating at compound interest almost like money in a bank.
Furthermore, this centres the reader s thoughts on the Chancellor and indirectly focuses on the
unethical, unprincipled ways of today s society.
The fog described in the second paragraph is another focal point in Bleak House , where Dickens
personifies it to an extent that it cruelly pinches the toes . A negative connotation of the fog is
portrayed, where it seems to be almost a wicked character that can be visualised by the reader.
Dickens also personifies gas which seems to know, for it has a haggard and unwilling look . Gas
is not usually associated with anything, but used in this context, Dickens has given even gas an evil
role in the novel, characterizing it to have a sense of authority and human features, allowing the
reader the illustrate a wider

How Relations between Superpowers Worsened between 1959 and the Summer of 1962 There are many reasons why relations between the superpowers worsened between 1959 and the summer of 1962. The USA and USSR were already enemies. This was because they both represented different ideas. The USA was capitalist, however, The USSR was communist whose beliefs clashed with Capitalism. Superpower relations were based on fear and suspicion. They both tried to restrict the influence of the other. In 1947 the Truman Doctrine was published by the US president Harry Truman. It offered help to any country that was being threatened either from or within its own borders. This was USA using its power and wealth to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They tried to have bigger better bombs than the superpower. In 1962 both leaders were testing nuclear bombs. This is when they decided to test in Cuba. This lead to the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Overall relations worsened between superpowers in many different ways ranging from small to large issues. I think the most important factor in worsening relations was the changes in Cuba, If these had not taken place then Castro would not have eventually asked for help from the USSR and a war may not have taken place in Cuba. I think all the of things that took place more important though some were more than others. They all linked together and eventually caused a Cuban Missile crisis to take place in 1962. 2) Why did a crisis develop in 1962 about Cuba? A crisis developed in 1962 for many reasons. Firstly a crisis developed because of 2 reasons, competition and Arms rivalry. Competition was events such as the arms race where both sides fought to have bigger better weapons than the other side. They also competed against each other through sport, trying to win the most Olympic gold s and competed by trying to influence peoples beliefs and getting more people to support their ideology, either communism or capitalism. There was also Arms rivalry which was similar as this was also competing for better weapons. This all contributed to a crisis developing because they were both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Concepts Of Nature Vs Nurture The concepts of Nature vs Nurture, are major concepts in social science. Nature is the hereditary pattern of physical features in a human being s development. These features include, but are not limited to, our personality, usual and unusual appearances and the general measurements of how humans hold the attributes of being sociable, hostile behavior, their emotions, and the usage of alcohol and drugs. On the other hand Nurture is slightly different. Nurture is the influence of the environment that plays upon the behavior and characteristics in a human. The idea of nurture is that humans will grow up to form their personality on the way they are raised and life experiences. Culture is defined by the people in the environment, however, the environment helps shape and form human personalities in order to forge a culture. Culture is created by religions/beliefs, clothing /foods, language/social habits as well as the humanistic discipline; such as music, paintings, literature, and many more. Culture is generated by humankind, because humans hold their belief systems and patterns that was passed down by generations; by humans passing down what they have learned from their families this begins to create a culture. Personality plays a central role in both nature vs nurture and culture. Furthermore, personality is stated the total organization of inherited and acquired characteristics of an individual as evidenced by the individual s behavior (Hunt 119). Personality is either ... A Farewell to Arms In Ernest Hemingway s fiction book A Farewell to Arms the reader follows protagonist Frederic Henry through his continuously winding journey. This colorful wartime book possesses many themes, but contrary to the idea hinted behind Joel Armstrong s literary criticism A Powerful Beacon LoveIlluminating Human Attachment in Hemingway s A Farewell to Arms love is not the central theme of the book. The topic that does reoccur and therefore proposes itself as the central principle, however, is the idea associated behind the process of healing from pain. In the book, both Frederic Henry and Catherine Barkley had to fight against pain during the times when Barkley loses her first lover, when Henry suffers from the trench mortar trauma, and when Henry bids farewell to the dying Barkley. In the opening pages of the book, Hemingway did a fantastic job in highlighting Barkley s grief for her lost lover. Notably, Barkley had never met Henry before, but with his mention of the stick which belonged to her fiance, she instinctively talked with anguish. He was a very nice boy. He was going to marry me and he was killed in the Somme... He could have had anything he wanted if I would have known (Hemingway 18 19). Even so, the next night she would allow Henry to give her a kiss. Oh, darling, she said. You will be good to me, won t you? (Hemingway 27). The Harsh And Cold War At Valley Forge Analysis The Harsh and Cold War at Valley Forge The freezing air is blowing as I lay in bed listening to the soldiers moan struggling to survive in this harsh war. There are many bitter conditions here at Valley Forge. There is a big risk staying here as we struggle to stay alive. My hut is filled with smoke and is surrounded by the cold snow. We have huts that are a few feet long and have a small fireplace on one side and a door on the other. The food here is horrible and barely keeps us alive. But it is quite hard to differentiate the earliest Islamic objects from their archetypes in Persian or Sassanid art. And it took a significant amount of times, sometimes even centuries for the majority of the population to convert, including artists, after the Muslim conquest. But even in the objects that were created later on, an effect of the predecessor cultures can be seen. Islamic architecture, especially in places such as Baghdad for example, was based on Persian precedents such as Firouzabad in Persia. Similar feature could be seen in the Umayyad palace at Qusayr Amra, where the frescoes show six rulers of the world in attendance to the Umayyad caliph. The audience hall in the Ctesiphon palace itself is heavily decorated with frescoes, which were left untouched even after the Muslim conquest of Persia. That is probably; where from, the Muslim artist adopted the use of frescoes and can be seen in their medieval structure. In the US, 95.6 million people own cats compared to the 83.3 million who own dogs ( Pets by the Numbers ). 12.3 million more people own felines than they do canines. There are a few explanations why felines are favored over canines in the US. Felines are the superior petover canines by population because cats cost the owner less money than dogs do, they do not need too much for their maintenance, they do not depend the owner as much as dogs do, and are usually healthier and have a longer life span. The first reason why cats are the better pet over dogs is because cats cost less to maintain as far as yearly and medical costs. The yearly cost for cats is around $450 which is significantly different from the $660 yearly cost for a dogs ( Cat vs Dog ). Bottom line, dogs are one and a half times more costly than the typical yearly cost for a cat. Nevertheless, there is an even greater price percentage for medical bills when we relate these two animals. The average medical fee for a cat is only $160 a year. Whereas, a dogs fee can be $290 a year or more ( Cat vs Dog ). There is a substantial variance in cost when comparing dogs and cats. Studies, have shown that no matter which way they look at it, cats are cheaper. Badrinath was literally the whole reason we went on this trip. It was known as one of the most holiest, and sacred places to be at. We arrived there later in the Afternoon. After we checked into our hotel, we went and explored the city. And while exploring the city we saw many beautiful temples, and all these lead us to the main temple, the Badrinath Temple. We had to cross over a small walking bridge which went over the Alaknandha River, It went with such force, and if you sit in that water nonstop for more than ten fifteen minutes, you will surely have a heart failure, because the water is that cold, and we are at an extreme altitude. And the most Ironic thing about this cold river is after we crossed it we have to bathe before we enter the temple, even if we had bathed in the morning. When we went to the place we were supposed to bathe, we came to find out that it was a hot spring and this hot spring was ten feet away from the extremely cold Alaknanda waters, ironic enough, I thought so. After we finished bathing there was a ritual which we had to perform. We had to get into brand new clothes and we had to give the clothes were wearing to the more unfortunate people. So after we did that, we went into the main temple, it was enriched with beautiful colors and sculptures all made since the time the temple was created. The Pros And Cons Of Genetic Engineering And Animal Cloning Tasha Drinnen Zoology final 1st hr 12/13/17 Genetic engineering/animal cloning A genetically engineered animal is one that contains altered genetic material to give the animal new traits or characteristics. There are many animals that have been genetically modified for example, mice, pigs, cows and sheep are just a few of the animals they experiment on. Most genetic engineering is directed toward providing more benefits to our society which can be ethically contentious. In reproductive cloning (animal cloning) researchers remove a mature skin cell from the animal that they want to copy then, they transfer it into a egg that has removed its DNA containing nucleus. The clones are superior breeding animals that will produce healthier offspring. There is both upsides and downsides to genetic engineering and animal cloning. In the United States animal cloning is regulated by the FDA or, Food and Drug Administration and for the most part is not considered to be illegal. There are also close to no laws regulating genetic engineering in animals in the United States. The FDA says that it is just as safe to eat a cloned animal as it is to eat an animal that was conventionally bred. Cloning does not modify or manipulate an animals genetics or DNA, it is an exact copy of the animal. People have developed Spinach based sensors against adenosine, ADP, S adenosyl methionine (SAM), guanine, cyclic di GMP (c di GMP) and GTP using existing aptamer sequences. A key challenge for RNA based sensors is that they normally function poorly in cells. This is because RNA is easily degraded by nuclease and also has poor folding in intracellular. Poor folding RNA can be contributed by many elements, such as the difference folding structures and thermal instability, or rely on ion concentration. Later people developed 49 nt long aptamer Broccoli, which has brighter green fluorescence upon binding DFHBI.
