One of the areas which creates satisfaction in individuals is their work life. Lack of job satisfaction causes negative feelings within an individual. Low job satisfaction can have negative effects such as resigning or absenteeism from work, arriving late at work and working slowly. For this reason, it is important to investigate job satisfaction levels and the factors affecting this in midwives giving health services. This work was carried out with the aim of detemining the relationship between the levels of job satisfaction in midwives and some socio-demographic characteristics of the job satisfaction levels. Within the framework of this descriptive study, 106 midwives who worked within the Sivas province and agreed to participate in this study were studied. Data were collected using ‘Socio-Demographic Questionnaire for Midwives’ and ‘Scale of Job Satifaction in Nursing’. The data collected from the research were analysed using the Kruskal Wallis, Student t and Mann-Whitney U tests within the SPSS 10.0 computer program. The average general job satisfaction points of the midwives was 47.08 ± 15.52. The average job satisfaction levels in midwives who chose the occupation themselves, wanted to be in the profession and found that midwifery suited them were found to be high at a significant level (p<0.05).>0.05). It was established that the organisation they work at, length of working life, whether they had worked continuously or had a break from work, weekly working hours, way of working and amount of individuals to whom care was given did not affect their job satisfaction point averages (p>0.05). It was also determined that the general job satisfaction point average levels were not affected by whether they had children or not, the number of children they had and the age of the youngest child (p>0.05). In contrast, the job satisfaction levels of midwives who worked in hospitals in terms of the possibility of development and working conditions were significantly higher than midwives who worked at health centres (p<0.05). Job satisfaction levels in midwives who chose the occupation themselves, wanted to be in the profession and found that midwifery suited them were high. Midwives who worked in hospitals who had the possibility of development and different working conditions had greater job satisfaction than midwives who worked at health centres. The remaining socio-demographic charateristics did not affect job satisfaction in the midwives.

Objective: The aim of the study was to identify level of stress among nurses according to their job status. Background: Stress is highly associated with nursing profession. This stress is caused by several factors both personal and organizational such as educational level, gender, nature of work environment and work overload etc. These factors directly or indirectly expose nurses to a considerable level of stress. If a nurse works at two places, their stress level will predictably be much higher than that of those who work at a single place. Methodology: Quantitative analytical cross-sectional study design was applied in a private tertiary care hospital at Peshawar, Pakistan. Study population included all nurses working in the mentioned hospital. Universal sampling technique was used for double jobber nurses, while convenient sampling technique was used for single jobber nurses. An adopted questionnaire was used for data collection. Chi-square test was applied to analyze the data. Result: Among double jobber nurses, 23.33% had severe, 63.34% had moderate, and 13.33% had mild level of stress. On the other hand, there was no severe level of stress among single jobbers; only 20% had moderate and 80% had mild level of stress. Conclusion: The current study identified that level of stress was higher in double jobber nurses as compared to single jobber nurses. The study would have been more generalizable if more tertiary care hospitals were included for data collection.

Maternal and neonatal mortality remains a public health burden around the globe most especially in developing countries. A well utilized antenatal care ANC is however among the identified interventions to reduce this burden of maternal and neonatal mortality rates. A lot of factors therefore predispose, enable and cause mothers to identify the need to utilize this service ANC .This study employed descriptive cross sectional survey design. A semi structured questionnaire consisting of demographic profile of the respondents, their knowledge about ANC services and the level of ANC utilization. Logistic regression analysis techniques and chi square were used for the categorical variables to examine the associations between the dependent and independent variables. Data analysis was done using the Statistical Package for Social Science software SPSS version 22. Majority 87 of postpartum mothers in the Sunyani municipality attended ANC at least once during their last pregnancy of which 95.6 had four or more visits and 77.1 initiated their ANC attendance within their first trimester. It was further observed that 97.3 of the mothers had good knowledge about ANC. Marital status and ANC knowledge were found to be significantly associated with ANC attendance. Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure. People with anxiety disorders usually have recurring intrusive thoughts and concerns. While pregnant, it is common for women to have anxiety. A first time mother is likely to worry about many impending changes to occur in her life. women also worry about birth defects.This study was conducted to assess the level of anxiety related to pregnancy outcome among primi gravida mothers in 3rd trimester of pregnancy attending antenatal OPD at Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh. The objectives of the study were to assess the level of anxiety related to pregnancy outcome among primi gravida mothers in 3rd trimester of pregnancy and to find out the association between level of anxiety related to pregnancy outcome with selected socio demographic variables. The research approach adopted in the study was the cross sectional. The research design for this study was non experimental. Written permission was taken from the Department of Gynaecology and the study was conducted in the antenatal OPD at Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh. Consecutive Sampling technique was applied on a sample of 60 mothers in 3rd trimester of pregnancy attending the antenatal OPD. For data collection, the tool was divided into 2 parts Part A – Socio demographic profile, and, part B– Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale HAM – A .The analysis was done by using differential and inferential statistics.The findings of the study revealed that maximum primi gravida mothers in 3rd trimester included the age group of 30 35 years. Majority of the mothers were having mild anxiety i.e., 48 , 40 were having moderate level of anxiety and only 12 were having severe anxiety. The relationship between selected demographic variables with level of anxiety showed that socio economic status and residential areas have statistically significant association with the level of anxiety. Nowadays, HRM has become an important function in the company and a strategic dimension which led many companies to include in their plans and policies. This importance has gone crescendo since the pressure of external environment is hardly strange to the outbreak of HRM and its conspicuous metamorphosis. Hence, more and more companies are implementing HR practices that can boost their organizational performance. Nevertheless, the link between HR practices and performance is not fully explained due to apparently little empirical research. The concern of the current pape r is to highlight this relationship through seeking to select HR practices that promote performance based on the adopted business strategy. The objective of this research is to explain how the application of HRM practices can increase organizational performance. To answer our research question, we chose the case study of a Tunisian company that has employed over 600 people specialized in metal construction and boilermaking. Methedologically, to understand the company's practices and its business strategy, we conducted two interviews that concerned the HR manager of the company and the head of operations. The interviews that we conducted revealed that the company recorded a substantial difficulty in aligning HRM practices with business strategy and organizational objectives and it invests very little in the development of skills although it offers a product respecting the highest quality standards. The last deficiency shows that there is lack of strategic planning and lack of shared organizational vision that cause constraints to the identification of objectives and management practices to be implemented.
One of the important routes providing the transportation between the Hellespont and the Kapıdağ Peninsula in the Byzantine period followed the Scamander and Aisepos Valleys. These valleys constitute one of the areas we study to determine the military geography and defensive structures of the Hellespont and its vicinity in the Byzantine period. In this manuscript, it was aimed to evaluate the archaeological data we detected at Asarkale on the upper Aisepos Valley. It was predicted that the data to be obtained with this evaluation would first of all contribute to the settlement of the problems of dating the structure. Asartepe is approximately 310 m in length in the north-east - south-west direction. The highest altitude of the hill is measured as around 798 m. First of all, a plan of the castle was drawn up by following the walls of the castle in our study. The castle displays a long and narrow plan in the north-east - south-west direction, in agreement with the topography of the hill. The defensive wall covering the north-west of the hill approximately extends from the altitude of 783 m to the altitude of 795 m in the north-east - south-west direction.

Backyard Poultry Farming, a Suitable Intervention for Tribal People for their...inventionjournals
After analyzing the situation, background and cultural scenario, KVK, Mayurbhanj scientists intervene to make this practice as more productive, remunerative and commercial by introducing improved breeds like Vanaraja, Gramapriya, Kharagnath etc. those are phenotypically similar to existing poultry population. The benefit and cost ratio in Vanaraja and local breeds recorded as 2.66 and 2.27 respectively in Assam as found by Islam et al (2015).The 21 days old chicks were being supplied to the various SHGs, individual growers etc. They were trained about the minimal management practice, vaccination, feeding etc. To find out the effectiveness of the technology the study was made with an objective to assess the knowledge gained and adoption of the technology alongwith the constraints faced and suggestion for better penetration from the respondents. From the list of practicing farmers of KVK under improved backyard poultry farming, hundred numbers of respondents were selected randomly. From the study it was found that moderate knowledge was gained by the respondents on the improved poultry farming and adoption was satisfactory with 64.0 and 21.0 percentages in medium and high categories respectively. The respondents perceived as the unavailability of structured market structure was the major constraint and mostly suggested for the establishment of assured market system.There is huge scope & perspective in the improved poultry farming in the district. The farmers are very much spirited and enthusiastic to adopt the enterprise in entrepreneurship basis. Although the quality of egg and meat of improved breeds is at par with the local breeds, there is very wide gap in the price of local and exotic breeds. “But, Did It Work?”Effects of Teacher-Implemented ComputerAssisted Instructio...inventionjournals
Four students with learning disabilities participated in a supplemental repeated reading intervention in order to increase oral reading fluency (ORF) skills. Teachers implemented the computerized intervention with the students in an inclusive classroom during reading/language arts time. The students engaged with the computerized repeated reading program three times per week for 10 weeks. Teachers administered generalization passages once a week to determine each student’s reading skills on passages that had not been read. Study data revealed mixed results as the students increased their ORF on progress monitoring generalization passages and tended to reach their goals, but only two of the four students showed a positive level change on the computerized repeated reading intervention passages. Implications, limitations, and future research are discussed.

Therefore, context is dynamic. Then, this paper illustrates theories of pragmatics, including the speech act theory, the indirect speech act theory, the cooperative theory and the relevance theory. The purpose of this research is to review the principles of Islamic economy with reference to injunctions of Islam. This paper presents selected literature relating to the principles of Economics of Islam according to the Holy Quran. The study of the Holy Quran reveals that the basic principles of Islamic Economy are briefly discussed in the Holy Book while the details are elaborated in the Ahadith(Traditions of the Holy Prophet S.A.W). These principles have been transformed into inferred rules by the AIMAS (Mujtahdeen) in the light of the Holy Quran and the Ahadith. This ensures equal distribution of wealth in the society. Through Islamic Economic System, the concept of Welfare State can be successfully implemented, As practically demonstrated by Companions of the Holy Prophet (S.A .W)(Khulafa-ERashideen)During their Rule(Caliphate) for a period of about 30 years. Allah Ta’ala has promised to provide livelihood to every soul, as such; nobody lives without food and the means of livelihood in this way, equality in economic right has been ensured for all. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects the way a person communicates and relates to people around them. Bringing up an autistic child is a hard and long journey, but parents have various options and places to turn for help. For example, they can learn and use certain strategies to help communicate with autistic children. Teaching strategies for students with ASD still need to be individualized, and it is fairly important for teachers to realize their expectations of their students. Children with autism often have visualspatial strengths so teachers can modify their instructional strategies several ways by demonstrating and modelling expected skills. The purpose of this study is to explain the attitudes and opinions of parents and teachers about autism in Turkey. The participants of the study consists of 82 subjects, 42 of whom were parents of children with autism and the remaining 40 were teachers of students with autism. This study was carried out several public and private schools in Konya, by means of interviews and regular conversations with teachers and parents of children with autism, over the period from 03.01.2015 until 04.05.2015. In order to obtain the data, three types of survey questionnaires were employed in this research.
The Effects of Rhythmical Articulation Skills of Primary School Teacher Candi...inventionjournals
The aim of the research was to determine the effects of rhythmical articulation skills of primary school teacher candidates, who will be responsible from carrying out music courses as well as other domains in teaching, on playing instrument in instrument supported music courses. This study was an ex post facto research which has investıgated the effects of rhythmical articulation skills on ınstrument playing skills. In the research design Teacher Candidates were grouped according the rhythmical articulation and instrument playing examination timing. Firstly, the rhythmical articulation skills of teacher candidates were evaluated shortly after instrument playing skills. The correlation coefficient between two measurements was found to be R=0,73 and prediction coefficient R²=0,53 was found as middle level and significant. It meant that %53 of instrument playing skills were explained by rhythmical articulation skills. There were significant differences in rhythmical articulation skills and instrument playing skills in terms of gender in the second group. Female candidates’ rhythmical articulation and ınstrument playing skills means were found higher and meaningful than the male candidates’. But according to instrument types there were no meaningful differences. Based on this research, it can be suggested frequently skills of playing an instrument is supported by rhythmical articulation skills in general music course implementations and evaluations. Similar researches should be done to develop music and teaching music course in the primary school teacher education program. As a conclusion ıt can be said that rhythmical articulation skills has supply important clue for retention of melody before playing an instrument.

The paper explores the outcomes of the post 2000 land reform programme implemented in the communal area of Umguza district. This involved the triangulation of qualitative data collection methods to gather data from the respondents. A total of 45 famers were sampled for unstructured interviews and focus group discussions. The findings of the study revealed that there are numerous factors that contributed to the decline in agricultural production that included limited skills from the farmers, lack of investment on land because of tenure insecurities, sabotage from former white commercial famers and the rise of climate change. Among the recommendations made was thatthe state should consider training new farmers upon allocating land to them as this will ensure that farmers know what to do once they are in the farms.

Increasing use of governance practices in public administration have had broad repercussions in law enforcement and policing. As a result, law enforcement services have witnessed significant changes that shifted police from a bureaucratic, incident driven force to a proactive service oriented organization. Among other governance indicators, citizen satisfaction and confidence in law enforcement services has increasingly been one of the central tenets of the governance structures in the contemporary world.In this new era of policing, enhancing community relations and improving the satisfaction of citizens have become the main objective of police departments. This study first explains the governance approach to law enforcement and policing and then focuses on citizen satisfaction with police. It explores the general determinants of citizen satisfaction, and assesses the impact of police citizen encounters on citizen satisfaction with police. Based on the literature and research studies, this article shows that socio-demographic characteristics, such as age, race, gender, and income independently determine the attitudes toward police. Police contact also has a significant effect on satisfaction level. Favorable contacts with police improve citizens’ satisfaction regardless of the type of contact. Residential location of an individual and physical police presence in the neighborhood also affects attitudes toward police.

This research is conducted to determine socialization of individuals with moderate mental retardation by physical activity. In order to meet the needs of physical activity of individuals with mental retardation, programs including work and play are being prepared today. These games and practices are aimed on their abilities, limitations and interests. A well-planned program of physical activity can have a positive contribution to all areas of development on children with mental disabilities. In this study, which proceeds on the basis of The Focus Group Interview (FGI), a part of qualitative research strategy, 19 parents with disabled kids were interviewed. Children of parents who participated in the study have moderate mental retardation (MR) and they have been playing basketball for two days a week, swimming for one day a weekend short walking at least three times a week on a regular basis for the last two years. The study was made by Maximum Diversity Sampling as a sampling method and interview form was used as a data collection means. Verbal explanations given by parents to open-ended questions were analyzed through content analysis. Main themes of each research question were chosen by comparing a pre determined part of the creation of common themes. As a result, parents who are suffering from hyperactive or inactive children, tell that they observe a significant change in their children after doing sports. Parents who see this positive change become happy and therefore they have spare time for themselves while their kids are doing sports. Both parents and children defined the positive changes at home and social life along with sports as happiness and calmness. Parents state that they feel their kid’s sense of achievement, improved ability to make an action and communications kills. They also observe the fact that they gain acceptance in the community
The Interaction of Space and Violence in J. G. Ballard’s HighRiseinventionjournals
The purpose of the present paper is to explore the relation between architectural space and violence in J. G. Ballard’s High-Rise. It uses Henri Lefebvre’s (1991) spatial theories and argues how the principles used in designing and developing urban spaces and societies are in conflict with lived spaces resulting in confusion, violence, animosity, and division. This paper elaborates on the concept of spatial violence and argues that space and spatial interactions are both necessary to develop a space whether stable or not. It is taken for granted that social relations are substantial parts of any given space and their role in establishing and developing a spatial structure is apparent. It explores Lefebvre’s ideas on the relation of violence and spatial development in Ballard’s High-Rise as an instance of a planned space. It examines how violence reconstructs a social space, while at the same time it is the production of it. The paper concludes that the relationship between social and spatial elements formulates the development or decadence of a spatial construction.
The Public Perception and Media Campaign Against Yoga Practitioners in Romani...inventionjournals
This case study aims to estimate the effects of the continuous defamation of the yoga practitioners in Romanian mass-media. The paper is based on the results of a quantitative research focused on the public perception about Romanian yoga practitioners, compared to their description in the media. The research also analyzed the opinion of persons belonging to the yoga movement, regarding the defamation media campaign and their testimonials about discrimination incidents. During the communism, in Romania the yoga practitioners were persecuted by the secret political police. After the communist period, Romanian yogis continue to face difficulties like media campaigns of defamation and hate speech. Our results prove that the negative media campaigns are important factors that caused the marginalization of the yoga practitioners as a social group and favored their discrimination in the Romanian society. For more than 25 years, the media constantly depicted the yoga practitioners in depreciative words. Our study proves that the perception upon yogis is very different for the people who know directly the yoga movement and its students and for the people who know the movement and the yogis only from media. The huge difference of the direct and mediated knowledge, and the fact that the words used by respondents to describe the yogis are similar to those used by press, suggest the assimilation of the mediated message by the public. There is strong evidence that this message is not true, since it is so different than the direct knowledge of people who came in contact with the movement.

Problems such as impracticability and ineffectiveness are encountered in practice in-service training for teachers in Turkey.Although several suggestions have been proposed, the problems still remain. This study illustrates a new way for the development of in-service training, with high school teachers’ opinions, which is in-service trainings enhanced with adult learning characteristics. The participants were determined randomly and administered a 25-item Likert type survey. Results of the survey evaluated statistically by applying t-test and ANOVA. It is found that there is statistically significant difference between teachers in terms of gender, age, seniority and subject field variables. On the basis of the whole paper, teachers are enthusiastic to take part in in-service trainings enhanced with adult learning features rather than traditional ones. At the end of the paper, it is recommended that while preparing in-service training, demographic differences among teachers should be taken into account.

In this regard, the quality of youth life can have a large impact on delinquency. The aim of this study is to study the quality of life and its relation to youth delinquency of Zahedan. The research method is descriptive and analytic based on library, documentary and field studies. The sample population in this study is purposive sampling which ultimately 250 teens of Zahedan have been selected. The questionnaire has been used as the tools of the research and SPSS software has been used for data analysis. The results of the research showed that 0.000 is obtained for the significant level of all proposed indices which represents positive and significant effect of improving of quality of life in reducing youth delinquency. In fact, whatever the improvement of the quality of life be increased, the delinquency among teenagers will be reduced.

According to Vroom 1964 Job satisfaction is an orientation of emotions that employees possess towards role they are performing at work place. The work environment is one of the most crucial factor which influence the level of satisfaction as well as motivation of its employees. The nature of work has changed considerably in many sectors of industry over the past decades Modern organizations consider job stress and job satisfaction of their employees as two important workplace issues. The present study was conducted with an objective to assess the level of job satisfaction and its impact on working conditions of staff nurses at Selected Hospital in District Hamirpur. A descriptive research design was used to assess the level of job satisfaction and its impact on working condition of 40 staff nurses by convenience sampling technique at Selected Hospitals in District Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. Data was collected by using questionnaires method and interview method. Result revealed that the calculated chi square values were less than the table value at the 0.05 level of significance. There was non significant association in level of job satisfaction with their selected demographic variables and also revealed that there was a significant correlation between the level of satisfaction with selected sociodemographic variables. Percentage distribution of level of score regarding impact on work performance among staff nurses was 97.5 satisfactory and 2.5 was unsatisfactory. The study findings revealed that the majority of nurses were satisfied with their present condition of work. Since the job satisfaction is a dynamic process, the result may not be static or consistence. Working environment and employees expectations should receive attention. O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver uma escala para avaliar o apoio ao aleitamento materno no local de trabalho.
Métodos
O estudo foi realizado com 490 mulheres trabalhadoras que se inscreveram nos ambulatórios da mulher e da criança de um hospital na Turquia. Os dados do estudo foram coletados por meio de um 'Formulário de Informações Pessoais' e da 'Escala de Apoio à Amamentação no Local de Trabalho para Mulheres Trabalhadoras'. Os dados foram analisados nos softwares SPSS 25 e AMOS 21. No processo de desenvolvimento da escala; Utilizaram-se a validade de conteúdo, a análise fatorial exploratória, os métodos de correlação item escore total e o coeficiente alfa de Cronbach.
Resultados
O índice de validade de conteúdo da escala foi de 0,90 e o valor de alfa de Cronbach foi de 0,93. O valor da escala de Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin foi de 0,91, o teste de Bartlett foi χ2 = 11.573,924 e p < 0,000. De acordo com os resultados da análise fatorial exploratória para a validade de construto da escala, a escala foi composta por 31 itens e 6 fatores.
Conclusões
A escala desenvolvida pode ser utilizada para avaliar o apoio à amamentação no local de trabalho para mulheres trabalhadoras como um instrumento de medida válido e confiável.

Job Satisfaction and Perceived Self-Efficacy among Greek Nursesinventionjournals
Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate job satisfaction and perceived self-efficacy of nurses working in a general hospital in Greece. Background: Most people spend a considerable part of their lifetime working. Work and social life form a whole by being interconnected and also give each other meaning. For this reason, job satisfaction becomes important for all professions. Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional, and descriptive research design was used in this study. Data were collected using the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale, the General Perceived Self-efficacy Scale and a demographic questionnaire. Results: The study sample was composed of 101 participants. We found that a positive significant relationship between job satisfaction, liking one’s job, salary, and choosing the department to work where one works. There was no significant difference between perceived self-efficacy and job satisfaction in our sample of Greek nurses. Conclusion: Further studies should be carried out in different countries with larger samples and different nursing specialties to shed light on nurses’ job satisfaction. Implications for nursing management: The obtained findings show that nursing managers should try to provide these factors related to working conditions in order to improve job satisfaction.

This study examines the influence of perceived flexibility within the timing and site of labour on work-family balance. Results indicate that perceived job flexibility is claimed to reinforce work-family balance after controlling for paid work hours, unpaid domestic labour hours, gender, and occupational level. Also given an equivalent workload individual, with perceived job flexibility have more favorable work-life balance. Likewise, employees with perceived job flexibility are ready to work long hours before workload negatively impacts their work-family balance and also these makes the workers feel as stress. Implications of those findings are presented. Also, from the feedback, an employee has suggested to given a vacation leave so as that they are getting to spend enough time with the family. The longer-term benefits of this study observe business sense to support work-life balance.

A search was conducted using electronic databases in the fields of nursing, medicine, education, psychology, and sociology. Using ProQuest Direct and EBSCO search engines, the following databases were accessed: CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature), MEDLINE in PubMed, Ovid, and PsycINFO. The search terms were grouped in the following key concepts: (a) occupational stress in nursing, (b) stress perception in nursing, (c) occupational stressors in nursing, (d) nursing generational diversity, and (e) coping in nursing. In a commentary on patient safety in nursing practice from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Hughes and Clancy7 reported that complexity and bullying represent 2 clear examples of nurse stressors. Li and Lambert8 concluded that nurses who are more satisfied with their job are more likely to remain in the workforce and to be committed to delivering high-quality patient care. Hall9 found that healthcare professions have some unique characteristics leading to occupational stress including physical responsibility for people, potential catastrophic effects on the patient and the employee, frequent exposure to pain and suffering, and exposure to infectious diseases and potential hazardous substances. Hamaideh et al10 identified that death and dying were the strongest stressors perceived by Jordanian nurses. In this study, workload and guidance were found to be the most supportive behaviors provided to nurses facing stress followed by emotional support.10
Carver and Candela11 concluded that considering the global nursing shortage, managers should increase their knowledge of the generational diversity. It is suggested that understanding how to relate to multiple generations can lead to improved nursing work environments.11 Repar and Patton12 found that the combined effects of compassion fatigue, chronic grief, and emotional and physical exhaustion led to significant burnout and prolonged job dissatisfaction in the nursing profession. In this study, using guided sessions, a massage therapist gave 10-minute chair massages, and a visual, language, or musical artist engaged participants in imaginative and creative activities such as poetry reading, free writing, guided imagery, and listening to live music.12 The results suggest that the activities reduce some of the unpleasant, stressful, and tension-producing emotions that nurses typically experience at work, leaving them more peaceful and energized.12 Based on the findings of this review of the literature, it is recognized that stress is a major component of nursing and can be detrimental to nurse retention. In addition, most studies identified some differences that exist between the present generational nursing cohorts in terms of values and beliefs. No studies were identified reporting how work-related stress affects different generations of nurses, how the generations perceive stress, and what coping styles are used.

Although some effort to investigating the reasons for low motivation, barely any studies in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) have focused on generating effective and reliable instrument to quantity motivation for health professionals in (KSA) . Therefore, the objective of this research was to examine and create a effective and dependable tools to measure the motivation of health professionals working in (KSA) health system. Methods: The current study modified a previously developed tool on motivation. The reliability and validity of the tool were established using different methods. The initial phase of the tool development related to content development and valuation where, afterwards a complete literature review, the tool with 19 items was considered. Nonetheless, in light of the literature review and pilot trial, the same tool was modified to be adequate with local context by adding 7 items so that the tool has a 26 items. A correlation matrix was applied to check the pattern of relationships among the items. The random sample size for this research contain 154 health professionals from Western (KSA) province. for the sampling phase, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy and Bartlett’s test of sphericity were employed and finally factor analysis was carried out to calculate the eigenvalues and to understand the factors that may affecting health professional’s motivation in (KSA). Results: A correlation matrix value of 0.017 was acquired narrating multi-co-linearity between the observations. Based on early factor analysis, 8 out of 26 study factors were omitted from the study components with a cutoff range of less than 0.6. Running the factor analysis again suggested the inclusion of 18 items which were consequently labelled under the following items: transparency, goals, security, convenience, benefits, encouragement, adequacy of earnings and further growth and power. Conclusions: undoubtedly the research study showed that, we have reached to a conclusion that There is a great need to develop mechanisms directed at measuring the motivation of health service providers. The instrument used in the study has good psychometric properties and may serve as a suitable device to measure the professional’s motivation in (KSA). therefore; Proper management of human resources is critical in providing a high quality of health care.also a refocus on human resources management in health care and more research are needed to develop new policies

"Work life balance WLB refers to the level of prioritization between personal and professional activities in an individual’s life and the level to which activities related to their job are present in the home. A balanced life is one where we spread our energy and effort – emotional, intellectual, imaginative, spiritual and physical – between key areas of importance. Work life balance is not mere related to work and life it is the positive state of mind. Work life balance, in its broadest sense, is defined as a satisfactory level of involvement or ‘fit’ between the multiple roles in a person’s life Hudson, 2005 .The present study aims at understanding the work life Balance of women employed in service sectors in Sangli city. ABSTRACT: One of the areas which creates satisfaction in individuals is their work life. Lack of job
satisfaction causes negative feelings within an individual. Low job satisfaction can have negative effects such as
resigning or absenteeism from work, arriving late at work and working slowly. For this reason, it is important
to investigate job satisfaction levels and the factors affecting this in midwives giving health services. This work
was carried out with the aim of detemining the relationship between the levels of job satisfaction in midwives
and some socio-demographic characteristics of the job satisfaction levels. Within the framework of this
descriptive study, 106 midwives who worked within the Sivas province and agreed to participate in this study
were studied. Data were collected using ‘Socio-Demographic Questionnaire for Midwives’ and ‘Scale of Job
Satifaction in Nursing’. The data collected from the research were analysed using the Kruskal Wallis, Student t
and Mann-Whitney U tests within the SPSS 10.0 computer program. The average general job satisfaction points
of the midwives was 47.08 ± 15.52. The average job satisfaction levels in midwives who chose the occupation
themselves, wanted to be in the profession and found that midwifery suited them were found to be high at a
significant level (p<0.05). It was also determined that education, age and house ownership did not affect the
general job satisfaction point avarage of the midwives (p>0.05). It was established that the organisation they
work at, length of working life, whether they had worked continuously or had a break from work, weekly
working hours, way of working and amount of individuals to whom care was given did not affect their job
satisfaction point averages (p>0.05). It was also determined that the general job satisfaction point average
levels were not affected by whether they had children or not, the number of children they had and the age of the
youngest child (p>0.05). In contrast, the job satisfaction levels of midwives who worked in hospitals in terms of
the possibility of development and working conditions were significantly higher than midwives who worked at
health centres (p<0.05). Job satisfaction levels in midwives who chose the occupation themselves, wanted to be
in the profession and found that midwifery suited them were high. Midwives who worked in hospitals who had
the possibility of development and different working conditions had greater job satisfaction than midwives who
worked at health centres. The remaining socio-demographic charateristics did not affect job satisfaction in the
midwives.

I. Introduction
An individual‟s job is one of the most important areas which adds importance to a life. If an individual obtains
happiness as a result of job satisfaction, this will be externally reflected emotionally and in their behaviour. Lu
et al (2005) determined that from health workers, the highest job satisfaction level occurred in health managers
and was lowest in nurses. Lack of job satisfaction also affects an individual‟s physical and mental health and
also their satisfaction with life1
. Low job satisfaction is also a reason for resigning, absenteeism from work,
arriving late at work and working slowly2
. In a study carried out by Seyhan et al (2003), they found that 35.9%
of midwives suffering from low job satisfaction wanted to leave their jobs and 60.2% wanted to move to a
different workplace. In order to plan activities aimed at increasing job satisfaction, the job satisfaction levels of
midwives and the factors affecting satisfaction must first be determined. Factors which increase job satisfaction
and motivation in midwives include positive thinking, using autonomy and being able to express themselves in a
suitable language. In this way, quality service can be carried out to the benefit of both the care-giver and the
care-reciever.
II. Aims
This work was carried out with the aim of detemining the levels of job satisfaction in midwives working in the
Sivas province and the relationship between some socio-demographic characteristics with the job satisfaction
levels.
III. Methods
The research sample group consisted of a total of 257 midwives working at 2 public hospitals, 1 university
research hospital, 1 mother-child and family planning centre and 19 health centres in the Sivas province.

Midwives who had been working for less than 6 months were not taken into the sample group due to the view
put forward by Larson et al (1984) that workers need generally at least 6 months in a work place to allow them
to understand the various areas of the job and for an individual to be able to express this. The sample consisted
of midwives who were working individually with 15-49 year old women, pregnant women, post-natal women
and newborns. An „Informed Consent Form‟ briefly explaining the aims and benefits of the research which was
prepared by the researchers was given to the midwives and this form was applied to the 106 midwives who
agreed to participate in this research.
3.1.Data collection methods
The data were collected with a questionnaire of the socio-demographic characteristics of the midwives and a job
satisfaction scale. The questionnaire about the socio-demgraphic characteristics of the midwives was prepared
by the researchers and consisted of 23 questions about personal details, work situation, the reasons they chose
this career and their place of work and their thoughts on their suitability for the job.
The nursing job satisfaction scale was developed by Aksayan (1990) and the validity and reliability of the scale
was also carried out by the same researcher. This scale consists of 9 dimensions which are thought to affect the
job satisfaction of workers; the job itself/content, salary, job security, possibility of development, chances of
promotion, work environment and conditions, type of management, relationship with managers and relationship
with collegues. There is a total of 66 articles which can represent the various directions of each dimension, with
the aim of measuring the satisfaction levels of these dimensions in the workers. This scale, which is a 4 choice
Likert type, brings forward the desire levels and the understanding levels of professionals to every article in the
dimensions. The satisfaction point total taken from the lower scale is shown with a point between “1” and “10”.
It can be understood that as the points for every job factor moves from “5” towards “0”, then job satisfaction
increases and as 10 is neared, job satisfaction lowers. The general satisfaction point total from the scale varies
between “0” and “90” points. In a similar way, when the general job satisfaction points move from “45” towards
“0” then job satisfaction increases and it can be seen that as the points become closer to “90” then job
satisfaction decreases.
3.2. Application and Evaluation of Data Forms
The forms were completed by the midwives.
After the data from the 106 midwives collected in this research were entered into a computer, they were
evaluated using the SPSS 10.0 (Statistical Package For Social Science) program.
On the evaluation of the data, in the comparison of the averages of the two continuous data groups which carried
parametic analysis conditions determined by scale, the student t-test was used. In the evaluation of one-way
variance analysis which didn‟t carry parametric analysis conditions analysis, Kruskall Wallis variance analysis
was used. For two independent groups of data which met parametric conditions, the Mann-Whitney U-test was
used and One-Way Anova test was used to determine whether there was a difference between the data groups
averages and more than two groups and if there were any differences, where they origniated from. In the
determination of significance, the value of p was insignificant at p>0.05 level and p ≤0.05 was accepted to be
significant3,4,5
.

Half of the midwives who participated in this research were between 22-31 years of age and were graduated
from 4 year university courses or two year health vocational colleges. Most of the midwives were married and
had children. The midwives average job satisfaction point was 47.08±15.52 (table 1) and 31.1% of the midwives
had high job satisfaction levels and 62.3% had a low level (table1). In a research carried out on midwives in
Glasgow, the job satisfaction levels were found to be low6
. In contrast to this work, in a work carried out by
Seyhan et al (2003), 37.7% of midwives had low satisfaction levels. Nursing is the nearest profession to
midwifery in terms of working conditions in the health profession. In a similar manner to our study which
showed a slight slide from neutral satisfaction to low satisfaction levels (table 1), Aksayan (1990) found the
general job satisfaction point average in nurses to be 46.24. Zuraikat and McCloskey (1986) determined that the
job satisfaction points of the nurses showed a slight shift from neutral satisfaction towards low satisfaction.
Kavla (1998), in a study carried out on nurses, also established that a slight shift occurred from neutral
satisfaction towards low satisfaction. The studies of Jansen et al (1996) and Canbaz et al (2001) found that the
job satisfaction levels of nurses were low. On the evaluation of the data collected from studies carried out on
nurses and midwives, it can be seen that job satisfaction levels in both professions were low. The reasons for
dissatisfaction with their jobs could be due to low esteem for the midwifery profession in society and non-
sufficient definition of their roles, duties, authority and responsibilities. Along with this, low staffing numbers
and lack of equipment, limiting care to a level lower than wished, may also have affected this dissatisfaction.
Also it can be thought that negative factors such as irregularities in organisational structures , laws related to
midwifery being old and not clear, extra responsibilities of mother and wife roles at home for working midwives
could be limiting high levels of job satisfaction.
On the comparison of the general job satisfaction point average according to place of work of the midwives, a
significant statistical difference was not found (p>0.05) (table 3). However, the job satisfaction levels of
midwives working in health centres (46.37±16.45) were higher than those of midwives working in the hospital

(48.32±13.90). The reason for this could be that midwives working in health centres have more independent
roles and don‟t have to do night duty. In Erigüç‟s (2000) study, it was determined that in professions where the
possibility for independent work is given, job satisfaction is higher.
While the general job satisfaction (52.73±12.87) of midwives in the 22-26 age group showed a slight shift from
neutral satisfaction to dissatisfaction, the general job satisfaction (43.59±13.17) of the midwives in the 37 and
over age group showed a slight shift from neutral satisfaction to satisfied. However, the difference between the
general job satisfaction points according to age group of the midwives was not statistically significant (p>0.05)
(table 2). In studies by Aksayan (1990) and Aştı (1994) carried out on nurses, they also did not find a
statistically significant difference of general job satisfaction according to age group. In the literature, it is
stressed that age can affect job satisfaction levels and as age increases, adaptation to the work environment
increases and more realistic expectations of being able to do their work occur ( Hayran and Aksayan, 1991,
Diene and Martin 1995, Durmuş and Günay 2007). Some studies on nurses have detemined that job satisfaction
levels increase with age8,9,10
. The present study also determined that job satisfaction levels increased with age.
As age increases, work experience also increases. Çimen and Şahin (2000) established that as total length of
employment increased, job satisfaction also increased. In studies by Kuyurtar et al (2002) on nurses and
Karlıdağ et al (2000) on doctors, it was detemined that job satisfaction increased with greater work experience.
These results show similar findings to our study. As work experience increases, anxiety due to feelings of
inexperience decrease, creating a decrease in dissatisfaction. The present study found that the job satisfaction
levels of midwives who had been working for 11 or more years were higher than the levels of the other groups.
However, no statistically significant difference was found (p> 0.05) between the differences of the general job
satisfaction point averages according to length of the midwife‟s employment (table 3). In studies by Aksayan
(1990), Aştı (1994), and Kavla (1998) on nurses, Tözün, Çulhacı, Ünsal (2008) on family practitioners and
Bodur (1998) on health workers determined that there was no significant effect of work experience on the job
satisfaction point average.
Although the difference between the general job satisfaction point averages in terms of marital status were not
statistically significant (p> 0.05) (table 2), it was observed that the general job satisfaction levels of married
midwives were lower than single midwives. With marriage comes a lot of added responsibilities and therefore
this could be the reason for the slight shift to lower satisfaction found in married midwives, especially when the
responsibilities of their job are added in. It has been determined in many studies carried out on individuals
working in the health sector that marital status does not have a significant relationship with general job
satisfaction and this is corroborated by the present study11,12,13,14,15
. In a study carried out by Tezer (1994), it was
established that, even if at a low level, satisfaction with marriage and job satisfaction were factors affecting each
other and stress in marital relationships was often reflected in their working lives.
The midwives with children were more satisfied than those without children, however, this difference was
found to be statistically insignificant (p> 0.05) (table 2). According to these results, it can be stated that
midwives without children are generally more dissatisfied than those with children. It can be thought that the
motherhood roles of the midwives with children can be identified with the care giving roles of midwives.The
results of a study carried out by Aksayan (1990) support the results found in the present study. The difference
between the general job satisfaction point averages according amount of children the midwives had was found
to be statistically insignificant (p> 0.05) (table 2). However, as number of children increased so did the level of
job satisfaction. This relationship could be explained by there being a direct connection between amount of
children with increasing age and work experience. On the investigation of the general job satisfaction point
averages according to the age of the youngest child of the midwife, this difference was found to be statistically
insignificant (p> 0.05) (table 2). However the job satisfaction levels of midwives with children in the 1-5 age
group (46.69±17.32) were lower than those with children in the 13 and over age group (36.64±9.12). This could
be due to the increased necessary physical care that is needed for very young children and the fact that children
in this age group need greater care.
No statistical difference was found between general job satisfaction point averages and the education level of
the midwives (p> 0.05) (table 2). It was determined that the general job satisfaction of graduates from healthy
vocational schools ( 44.37±18.99) was similar to university graduates satisfaction levels (44.49±13.49). Our
study showed similar results to the studies carried out by Aksayan (1990) and Özaltın (1997).
Salary is an important factor which affects job satisfaction. Studies have shown that a low salary creates
dissatisfaction at an important level8,14,16,17,18
. These results do not agree with those found in the present study. It
was detemined in our study that the general job satisfaction levels were higher in the midwives with the lowest
salaries and this difference was statistically significant (p< 0.05) (table 2). It is thought that this result could
have been affected by the fact that most of the lowest paid midwives work in health centres. The salaries of
midwives working in health centres are lower than those who work in hospitals, however, the job satisfaction
levels may have been increased in midwives at health centres as they have more suitable working conditions,
lack of night duty and ability to work more independantly.

It has been determined that the general job satisfaction was lower in midwives who had taken a break from work
(49.27±13.89) than those who had not taken a break (46.75±15.80). However, on the evaluation of these data,
the difference was not found to be statistically significant (p>0.05) (table 3). An insignificant (p>0.05)
difference was found between general job satisfaction and amount of hours worked every week (table 3). In
contrast to this research, Silah (2001) determined that as working hours per week increased, the job satisfaction
of an individual would fall. The difference between general job satisfaction point averages and the midwife‟s
type of work was found to be statistically insignificant (p>0.05) (table 3). On the evaluation of the results,
midwives working on a shift system had higher job satisfaction than midwives working in different systems.
Results from other studies do not support this finding. Ersan (1996) found that nurses who continuously worked
the day shift had higher job satisfaction point averages than nurses who did shift work. In Çam‟s (1992) study, it
was determined that shift work, the night shift system, or working mainly at night increased the Burnout point.
Görgülü (1988) stressed that the conditions of night work negatively affected an individual‟s physical, mental
and social equilibrium and frequent night duty was a stress factor for an individual, and also, nurses on night
shifts had higher anxiety levels. In our research, the midwives working shift work, although low in number,
were all university graduates and had been working on average for a year. For these reasons, it is thought that
these midwives have not experienced Burnoutand could have high job satisfaction. One of the midwives who
was continuously doing night shift work while at the same time being a student showed harmony with other
studies in terms of being dissatisfied with work, however, as there was an insufficient number, this midwife was
not taken into the evaluation.
In the literature, it has been stated that giving care to a great amount of patients and excessive working hours, by
increasing the work load of a midwife, can negatively affect a nurse‟s physical, mental and social health and this
situation can decrease job satisfaction and quality of care18,19,36
. In this study, on the investigation on general job
satisfaction point averages according to the amount of individual‟s to which care is given during the day or at
night, the difference was not statistically significant (p>0.05) (table 3). However, the general job satisfaction of
midwives caring for an average of 16-30 patients (50.40±13.95) daily and the general job satisfaction of
midwives caring for 31 or more patients at night (56.68±13.83) were found to be lower than the other groups. In
studies by Aksayan (1990) and Durmuş and Güney (2007), supporting the findings of the present study, it was
determined that the job satisfaction of nurses decreased as the number of individuals that care was given to at
night increased. However, the fact that the general job satisfaction levels of midwives who were giving care to
an average of 31 or more patients daily were higher than the other groups, could be due to nearly all of the
midwives being more experienced and working in health centres.
On investigation of the general job satisfaction point averages according to manner of choosing the midwifery
profession, a statistically significant difference was found (p<0.05) (table 3). Midwives who stated that they
chose the profession themselves had higher job satisfaction than the other groups.It can be expeceted that when
a person consciously chooses a profession, they will be more successful and satisfied by it. This situation, such
as by increasing the quality of a job to be done, can positively affect a person‟s mental health. In a similar
manner to our study, in the studies of Aksayan (1990) and Durmuş and Güney (2007), high job satisfaction
levels were found in nurses who had consciously chosen their profession.
It can also be said that along with the conscious choice of a profession, the willingness to carry out a job is also
a factor affecting job satisfaction. It was determined that the general job satisfaction of midwives who wanted to
be in the profession (43.88±16.73) was higher than those who were reluctant (53.87±9.74) and the difference
was statistically significant (p<0.05) (table 3). In a similar study to ours, Aksakal et al (1999) established that
health workers who wished to continue with their careers were more satisfied than those who were continuing
through necessity.
A significant difference (p<0.05) was found on the statistical investigation of the general job satisfaction point
average according to whether the midwife finds themselves suited to the job (table 3). It was determined that the
general job satisfaction of midwives who expressed that they were suited for the job was higher than midwives
who thought they were not suited to their job. It can be thought that people who make a correct career choice
and continue in a working life which suits them will be highly satisfied with their working life. In Durmuş and
Güney‟s (2007) study, they found job satisfaction of nurses who thought they suited their career was high.
On evaluating the point averages according to whether they worked in a hospital or health centre, a statistically
significant relationship was not found (p>0.05) between the job itself, salary, safety, possibility for promotion,
style of management, managers and their relationships, collegues and their relationships (table 4). In the
dimensions of development possibilities, working environment and conditions, the difference was found to be
statistically significant (p<0.05) (table 4). Different studies have shown that development possibilities in the
work place have a positive effect on job satisfaction (Lanson et al 1984, Metcalf 1986). In Aksayan‟s (1996)
study, job satisfaction connected to development possibilities were found to be neutral. It can be thought that
some negative reasons may occur which are related to environment and conditions such as lack of materials in
the work place, occurrence of some technical problems, lack of sufficient personel to cover night shifts, having

to look after many patients and possibility of illnesses and disease which could threaten the staff‟s health could
affect job satisfaction.
V. Conclusion
In terms of the data obtained in this research, the following results were found: there was no statistical (p>0.05)
relationship between general job satisfaction point averages and the midwives‟s place of work, age, if they have
children and if so, how many, age of youngest child, house ownership and level of education. Also, there was no
significant relationship (p>0.05) between general job satisfaction point averages and length of work, whether a
break from working was taken, weekly working hours, type of work and the amount of individuals to whom
care was given.
The job satisfaction point averages of midwives who chose the profession themselves, wanted to be in the
profession and found that the job suited them were significantly (p<0.05) high.
There was no significant (p>0.05) difference between the job satisfaction point average between the place of
work of the midwives and the satisfaction point averages of work-load with the type of job, salary, safety,
possibility of promotion, type of management, management and their relationships and work collegues and their
relationships.
On investigating development possibilities, midwives working in the hospital had significantly higher (p<0.05)
job satisfaction point averages than midwives working in health centres in terms of work environment and
conditions. In terms of these results, it is recommended that people should be included in an education system
which allows them to have the possibility to choose the midwifery profession as being suitable for themselves
and should be given careers advice while at school with support from both educators and family members and
also the potential for the development of midwives working in hospitals should be increased along with their
working environment and working conditions.
