 of interview questions
When the employer says… He/she is really asking…
1. Tell me about yourself - What kind of person are
                               you?
                               - Are you going to fit into
4. Why are you interested in this company?
this job? - Are you just looking for
                               any job or are you
                               interested in this field?
6. What are your strengths?
                               - How well do you manage
                               yourself?
                               - How well do you manage
                               your work with others?
4. What are your - What should I be
     weaknesses? concerned about?
                               - How would you like to
5. Give me 2 reasons why I grow personally?
should hire you - Are you confident? Can
                               you sell yourself?
1. TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF?

O The interviewer wants you to:

  Highlight and summarize your background
(education, training, experience) as it relates to
  the job.

O The interviewer will learn:

• how well you’ve matched yourself to the job.
• how effectively you organize, summarize and
anticipate what she/he needs to know about
  you.
• how well you communicate.
Be Prepared for Behavior-
        based Questions!
O Describe a time when you were faced with problems
or stresses at work that tested your coping skills.
    What did you do?
O Give an example of a time when you had to be
relatively quick in coming to a decision.
O Give me an example of an important goal you had to
set and tell me about your progress in reaching that
    goal.
O Give me an example of a problem you faced on the
job, and tell me how you solved it.
O Tell me about a situation in the past year in which
you had to deal with a very upset customer or co-
    worker.
to RESPONSE well
O Be specific, not general or vague!
O Don’t describe how you would behave. Describe
    how you DID behave.
If you later decided you should have behaved
differently, explain this → how well you learnt
O Present concrete examples
O Quantify your achievements
O Emphasize results
O Link your experience to the job
P O I N TS TO
 R E M E M B E R

O Be positive
O Be enthusiastic
O Sell yourself
O Always keep in mind the interviewer’s needs
  and interests
O Show motivation to fit in, grow with the
company and make a real contribution
O Ask yourself: “What can I do for them and how
  can I be of value?”
  And most importantly, BE YOURSELF
Ask questions!
→ Reinforce your interest in the job
→ Decide if the position and company are a good fit for you

O What will be my responsibilities?
O Where will I fit into the overall organizational structure?
O Who will I report to?
O Who will report to me?
O How experienced are they?
O What level of performance do you expect from me?
O Who are your customers?
O Where is the company going? Upwards? Expansion plans?
O What are the chances of advancement/promotion in this
  position? When?
O Will travelling be required in this position?
O Will relocation be required now or in the future?
O What training do you provide?
Not the kinds of question like: If I am hired, when will I
  start?
At the close of the
        interview…
O Summarize your strengths that apply
    to the position
O Summarize what points you like
about the position and the company
O Ask what the next step will be—
    timeline for making a decision
O Give a firm handshake and smile
O Thank the interviewer
      First and last impressions count!
INTERVIEW DONT’S…
INTERVIEW DONT’S…
O Don’t make negative comments about
 previous employers, company (or
 others).

 interested in salary.

  drink.
O Turn cell phone off & Don’t take cell
  phone calls during an interview

  interest in the company/position
(Handwritten letters: more personal than email)
O Review the interview → what to improve upon
O Contact the interviewer within 10 - 14 days to inquire
about the status of your application

Editor's Notes

  1. Tập trung cái này nè
