The document discusses the meaning of the word "anon" as it is used in the Bible. It provides several Bible verses from Matthew and Mark that use the word "anon" and defines it to mean "immediately" based on a parallel verse in Mark. It also discusses Jesus ordaining the twelve disciples and lists the names of the disciples from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Finally, it compares Jesus giving the Beatitudes from Matthew 5:1-12 with the parallel account in Luke 6:17-22.

XXIII The Return of Jesus Christ in RevelationLenny Hoy
Revelation's depiction of the return of the Savior occupies parts of chapters 19 and 20. My interest in that depiction centers on understanding why it's so brief and, frankly, so devoid of color and detail. My conclusion: John's Revelation serves as a training manual, not a highlight reel of victory parades, as wonderful as they will be. First, we have to endure and overcome . . .

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Jesus ordains the twelve disciples
1. Assignmentreview: meaning of “Anon”
Matt 13:20 But he that receivedthe seed into stony places, the same
is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Mark 1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon
they tell him of her.
Answer:
Matt 13:20 But he that receivedthe seed into stony places, the same
is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Mark 4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony
ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it
with gladness;
Mark 1:30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon
they tell him of her.
Mark 1:29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the
synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with
James and John.
Sermon on the Mt. = theconstitution of theKingdom; The
twelve= the congressof the Kingdom. (Mat. 19:28, Luke22:30,
Rev. 21:14, Mat. 5:22)
Matt 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, VerilyI say unto you, That ye which
have followedme, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the
throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judgingthe twelve
tribes of Israel.
Luke 22:30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit
on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Rev 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the
names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
2. Matt 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother
without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall
say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever
shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Mark 3:13-19
Luke 6:12-16
John (no reference)
Mark
3:13 And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth [unto him] whom he
would: and they came unto him.
3:14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he
might send them forth to preach,
Neh 6:7-8 7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of
thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be
reported to the king accordingto these words. Come now therefore,
and let us take counsel together. 8 Then I sent unto him, saying,
There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them
out of thine own heart.
Ps 40:9 I have preachedrighteousness in the great congregation: lo, I
have not refrainedmy lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
Eccl 1:1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in
Jerusalem.
Eccl 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanityof vanities; all is
vanity.
Eccl 1:12 I the Preacherwas king over Israel in Jerusalem.
Eccl 7:27 Behold, this have I found, saith the preacher, counting one
by one, to find out the account:
3. Eccl 12:8 Vanityof vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
Eccl 12:9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still
taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought
out, and set in order many proverbs.
Eccl 12:10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and
that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD
hath anointedme to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath
sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaimlibertyto the
captives, and the openingof the prison to them that are bound;
Jonah 3:2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it
the preachingthat I bid thee.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not
believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not
heard? and how shall they hear withouta preacher?
Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is
written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of
peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
1Cor 1:17 For Christsent me not to baptize, but to preach the
gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christshould be
made of none effect.
Matt 22:29 Jesus answeredand said unto them, Ye do err, not
knowingthe scriptures,nor the power of God.
1Cor 1:18 For the preachingof the cross is to them that perish
foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1Cor 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but
in the power of God.
Matt 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent:
for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
1Cor 1:23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a
stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
4. 1Cor 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing
words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of
power:
2Cor 4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and
ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
3:15 And to have power to heal sicknesses,and to cast out devils:
3:16 And Simon he surnamed Peter;
3:17 And James the [son] of Zebedee,and John the brother of James; and
he surnamed them Boanerges,which is, The sons of thunder:
3:18 And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and
Thomas, and James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus,and Simon the
Canaanite,
3:19 And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an
house.
Luke
6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to
pray, and continued allnightin prayerto God.
(NOTE:It is interesting thatevery time Jesus had an important
decision to make He spentthe entire nightin prayer.)
Matt 14:23-25 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he
went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the eveningwas
come, he was there alone. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of
the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the
fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walkingon the sea.
Mark 6:46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a
mountain to pray.
Col 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
6:13 And when it was day, he called [unto him] his disciples:and of them
he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
5. Luke 11:49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them
prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and
persecute:
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and
some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
2Pet 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken
before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the
apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
6:14 Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James
and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
6:15 Matthew and Thomas,James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Simon called
Zelotes,
6:16 And Judas [the brother] of James,and Judas Iscariot, which also was
the traitor.
Jesus gives the Beatitudes Matthew 5:1-12
Matt 5:1 And seeing the
multitudes, he went up
into a mountain: and
when he was set, his
disciples came unto him:
Luke 6:17 And he came down with them, and
stood in the plain, and the company of his
disciples, and a great multitude of people out
of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and fromthe sea
coastof Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear
him, and to be healed of their diseases;
Luke 6:18 And they that were vexed with
unclean spirits: and they were healed.
Luke 6:19 And the wholemultitude soughtto
touch him: for there went virtueout of him,
and healed [them] all.
6. Matt 5:2-3 And he
opened his mouth, and
taught them, saying, 3
Blessed are the poor in
spirit: for theirs is the
kingdomof heaven.
Luke 6:20 And he lifted up his eyes on his
disciples, and said, Blessed [be ye] poor: for
yours is the kingdomof God.
Matt 5:4 Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matt 5:5 Blessed [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Ps 37:11 But the meek shall inheritthe earth; and shall delight
themselves in the abundance of peace.
Zeph 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have
wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may
be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.
“inheritance” deals with the millennial possession of Palestine:
Col 3:23-24 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord
Christ.
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you
before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the
kingdom of God.
Eph 5:5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is
