“SAN BERNARDINO TRANSIT CENTER OMNITRANS BUS FACILITY” (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS “PROJECT”)
San Bernardino Associated Governments, (SANBAG), acting as the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (“Authority”) invites proposals from qualified firms to architectural and engineering services for the design of the San Bernardino Transit Center Omnitrans Facility located the southwest quadrant of Rialto Avenue and E Street in downtown San Bernardino as identified in this RFP.
Firms intending to submit a proposal should note the procurement schedule contained in the attached RFP. It is our intention, subject to Board approval, to have the selected firm under contract by November 2011. Firms submitting a proposal for this Project will be evaluated based on qualifications, prior experience with the same or similar type of services identified herein, and the firm’s understanding of the Project’s needs and requirements as identified in the RFP.

The Architectural Review Board voted unanimously to recommend approval of the proposed expansion. City Council approval is now pending for the parking area to be expanded onto the western portion of the property.

The matter was scheduled to be considered by the Planning and Zoning Commission but the meeting was canceled due to lack of quorum.

The applicant is seeking approval to replat three lots that make up the backyard of a property located at 231 Encino Ave in Alamo Heights, Texas. The replat would divide the eastern portion of the property into two new lots. Several residents have submitted letters opposing the replat, arguing it would destroy the historic character of the neighborhood. The Planning and Zoning Commission must decide whether to approve the replat request.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

CITY OF ALAMO HEIGHTS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Lety Hernandez, Director of Community Development Services SUBJECT: Notice of Intent to expand the existing commercial use building and reconstruct the existing parking lot on the property located at 4821 Broadway St. DATE: September 11, 2023 SUMMARY The applicant is seeking to add a dedicated produce truck dock on the upper level south of the curbside building and repair the existing parking deck in order to improve lot flow and operational efficiency of the produce receiving process. Included in the improvements are new sidewalks and pedestrian paths, restriping of the upper and lower level parking, and reconfiguration of the curbside receiving area. BACKGROUND INFORMATION The site is located on the west side of Broadway St, south of Patterson Ave.
- 2. POLICY ANALYSIS The property is currently zoned Business District (B-1). No variances are anticipated with the project. Board consideration is tentatively scheduled as follows: o NOI – September 11, 2023 o ARB (Preliminary Review) – September 19, 2023 o ARB (Final Review) – TBD o October 17, 2023 (Council – November 13, 2023) o November 21, 2023 (Council – November 27, 2023) FISCAL IMPACT No projected fiscal impact from this project has been calculated.
