ITC pioneered farmer empowerment through its e-Choupal initiative, which established internet kiosks staffed by local farmers that provide market prices, weather forecasts, and enable direct selling to processors. E-Choupal has benefited over 4 million farmers by reducing costs and improving prices. ITC has since expanded this model through physical infrastructure hubs called Choupal Saagars that offer collection, storage, and rural hypermarket facilities.
