This document presents a smart waste management system for smart cities using Internet of Things technologies. The system uses smart dustbins equipped with sensors to monitor fill levels and transmit real-time data on dustbin status. This allows for optimized collection routes to increase efficiency. When a dustbin reaches capacity, it notifies authorities to schedule emptying. The system aims to automate waste management and keep cities cleaner using low-cost technologies like Arduino, sensors and cloud services. It provides a prototype design and implementation of smart dustbins connected to a mobile app via WiFi to track locations and alert personnel when emptying is needed.
