This document discusses a study comparing the costs of using Industrialized Building System (IBS) construction versus conventional construction methods for building school projects in India.
The study found that using precast concrete half slabs (an IBS method) for the first floor slab of a school project resulted in an 11.9% reduction in construction costs compared to using conventional cast-in-place concrete for both floor slabs. This suggests that IBS offers a good reduction in costs over conventional construction systems.
A survey of 110 industry professionals found that most respondents had a positive perception of IBS and believed it provided benefits like improved quality, productivity and cost savings compared to conventional methods. However, IBS implementation in India has

Web-based material requisition system in the supply chain of construction bus...IJECEIAES
In the construction project delivery process, the supply chain of construction businesses can only be efficient and effective based on the prompt availability of building materials. Whereas, the process of requisition for the materials on the construction site, if not handled appropriately, can adversely affect construction performance. Therefore, the study was aimed at developing a web-based material requisition system (W-BMRS) that will make the supply chain on construction sites seamless and more effective. A use case and an activity block diagram provided an understanding of the users and functionalities of the material requisition platform. In addition, using a different user interface and a database system including a programming language to connect them, the study developed a web-based material requisition system for construction firms using the model view controller (MVC) model. The MVC model comprised of using MySQL, HTML, and PHP. The W-BMRS was tested by sending materials requisition through the supply chain of a construction firm. The results were presented via screenshots of the web-based platform. In conclusion, any construction firm can register on the platform and make use of the web-based materials requisition system to maximize productivity and optimize the use of ICT in their materials’ supply chain process.
Importance and Functions of Bills of Quantities in the Construction Industry:...inventionjournals
Bills of Quantities (BQ) is one of systematic ways applied in the construction industry in which its primary function is to record items of works for tendering purposes and to create a fair agreement among the parties involved for contracting purposes. However, there are some issues pertaining to BQ functions such as BQ is a misunderstood facet in the construction industry today, BQ is only useful for tendering purposes, BQ’s benefit is not fully utilised by the construction team and most of them cannot relate BQ with everyday construction works and processes. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to study on the importance of BQ and its functions in the construction industry. A content analysis was used to identify the importance and functions of BQ from reviewing articles and books. Findings from this paper are beneficial in providing knowledge to the education field and construction teams on the importance and functions of BQ in the construction industry.
BUILDING MATERIALS ASSESSMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION BASED ON FIGURE OF...IAEME Publication
Sustainability assessment and Engineering design in buildings call for effective decision
making in respect of material selection and construction methodology. A good sustainable
solution involves choosing most suitable material and construction techniques that produce
optimum results in terms of sustainability. Due to several choices available in material
selection for construction, there is a need for a tool which can assist the designer in making the
right choice of materials. Figure of Merit (FoM), as a tool is proposed here to meet this
requirement. FoM is a unique dimensionless parameter derived by integrating two critical
properties from Engineering and Economics. Engineering properties are Modulus of Elasticity
and Density of materials. Economic factors are unit cost of material and construction cost per
unit area. Concept of FoM was applied and study carried out on commonly used building
materials and graphs drawn in comparison with embodied energy, embodied carbon and
material density values. Outcome of the study indicated, “Lower the Figure of Merit; better is
the suitability of building materials in sustainable construction.” As an illustration, FoM
concept was also applied to one of the subsystems of a building namely formwork and found to
be in consistency with the findings. Hence, it is suggested that Figure of Merit can be used as a
quantitative tool for selection of materials

Advanced manufacturing technology adoption in manufacturing companies in kenyaeSAT Journals
Abstract Over the past few decades, manufacturing has evolved from a more labor-intensive set of mechanical processes to a sophisticated set of information based technology processes. With the existence of various advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs), more and more functions or jobs are performed by these machines instead of human labour. This study was undertaken in order to research the extent of AMTs adoption in manufacturing companies in Kenya. In order to investigate a survey was conducted via questionnaires that were sent to 183 selected AMT manufacturing companies in Kenya. 92 companies responded positively. All the surveyed companies were found to have a measure of investment in at least two of the 14 types of AMTs investigated. In general the company surveyed showed that the level of AMT adoption in Kenya is very low with investments levels at a mean of 2.057 and integration levels at a mean of 1.639 in a scale of 1-5. Keywords—AMT adoption, AMT investments, AMT integration, companies in Kenya.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
