This document discusses applying Six Sigma concepts to construction scheduling to improve quality and reduce delays. It defines the DMAIC process used, which stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. An IT building construction project is used as a case study. The number of completed and delayed activities is measured. Using these numbers, the Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) and Sigma level are calculated to assess quality. Major delay reasons like labor shortages are identified. The goal is to recommend improvements to reduce schedule variations and delays using Six Sigma approaches.

The point of interest of the approach is on development of sigma level with the aid of using QC story
which incorporates the best manipulate and quality improvement. All sorts of first-rate control efforts directly
enhance sigma level of components. Additionally, through decreasing the level of Defectives consistent with
defectives per million (DPM) which immediately affect to the sigma stage. Here, within the paper certain
technique will be discussed to address the problems and dreams which can be an improvement in sigma stage for
the shop and decreased DPM level will be done. In the course of machining operation, nos. of types of defects
would be happened. Categories those defects and after analyze a few standards could be made so that possibility
for going on the defects may be decreased and Sigma level might be improved. The getting to know of the quality
controls procedure has to be surpassed directly to everyone within the company. Total Quality Control can be
achieved by proper methodology and the initially start up for fully implementing TQM may take few months for
any company to claim to be a TQM company. Thereafter, the standardized procedures may have to be followed
by all concerned to retain the progress achieved.
Elimination of rework in V Cap by Using Six Sigma MethodologyIJERD Editor
The purpose of this project was to gain a strong understanding of Six Sigma management philosophy, concepts, and practices and to apply this knowledge to creating a Six Sigma academic course or training program. This was done through three main methods: preliminary research and data collection, the creation of a design model for Six Sigma academic course program establishment, and the creation of a Six Sigma academic course program syllabus. The preliminary research consisted of conducting a Six Sigma knowledge survey with the students of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, interviewing a Six Sigma expert, and examining current Six Sigma educational programs in other universities, businesses, and organizations. As a result of our observations, we determined that Six Sigma has become a large part of many companies and should be implemented into more engineering programs at universities nation-wide, including Worcester Polytechnic Institute. This can be done through a project based course, as well as more Six Sigma based Interactive and Major Qualifying Projects.

Abstract
The cost of poor Quality would help in analyzing the operating costs for effective and profitable business management. . In the era of cut throat competition, especially in automobile sector, success of an organisation resides in its ability to respond quickly to the needs of its customers. These customer needs must be attended with minimum manufacturing costs, minimum lead time to launch the product in market and delivering better performance than the existing competitors in the market.success achieved by market leaders is credited to their improvement initiatives. The customer needs must be attended with minimum manufacturing costs, and delivering better performance than the existing competitors in the market. Therefore, Indian companies in order to compete with global companies, it is very much essential to be at par, in all spheres of business aspects. Cost and Quality are two very important aspects to be globally competitive, to capture market share, to retain customers to be in business and to achieve business excellence. In the present times Six Sigma Methodology and QC Story are very famous and powerful tools and are widely used in the global industries. The increase in demand of the growing customer looking for a better quality of product has compelled corporations to adopt Six Sigma in order to improve the quality for enhanced competitive advantage. Therefore, it is very much essential to understand relation between six sigma and cost of quality and its application in automobile industry.

An Application of DMAIC Methodology for Increasing the Yarn Quality in Textil...IOSR Journals
Abstract : This article presents a quality improvement study applied at a yarn manufacturing company based
on six sigma methodologies. More specifically, the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control)
project management-methodology & various tools are utilized to streamline processes & enhance productivity.
Defects rate of textile product in the yarn manufacturing process is so important in industry point of view. It
plays a very important rate for the improvement of yield & financial conditions of any company. Actually
defects rate causes a direct effect on the profit margin of the product & decrease the quality cost during the
manufacturing of the product. By checking & inspection of defects of product at different point in production
where more defects are likely to happen. A thousand defects opportunities create in the final package of yarn.
That’s why it is decided to do work & implement DMAIC methodology in winding departments where the final
package of yarn is make.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
