This document discusses Database as a Service (DBaaS) and its benefits for database administrators. It defines DBaaS as an approach that allows DBAs to provision database instances to internal and external customers through a self-service portal. This automates tasks and frees up DBAs to focus on more strategic work. The document outlines the DBaaS architecture and components like infrastructure as a service, platform as a service and database templates. It also discusses how DBaaS can standardize platforms, optimize resources, and enable elasticity.
Using MySQL Enterprise Monitor for Continuous Performance ImprovementMark Matthews
MySQL Enterprise Monitor is built from the ground up to support DevOps DBAs and developers. From five scenarios based on real-world issues encountered by customers, learn how you can use the power features of query analysis and statistical visualization in MySQL Enterprise Monitor to diagnose and fix MySQL performance problems. Then learn how to apply these features in a continuous fashion as a valuable addition to your DevOps toolbox.
Defining the Value of a Modular, Scale out Storage ArchitectureNetApp
To date, the implementation of enterprise storage systems has evolved around traditional storage array architectures. There are many situations where having the option to scale the same enterprise storage system out, up or both is a better way forward than continuing to rely on the traditional scale up model. Here we compare the approaches, pointing out the significant operational and economic advantages of the new scale out paradigms.
To prevent mobile apps being discarded after first usage, it is extremely important that apps offer the right information at the right time, in the proper context. Various technologies are available to achieve this, in this presentation we will focus on beacons and augmented reality (AR). Beacons are small, bluetooth low-energy devices that can be used to detect mobile device proximity with high accuracy, allowing you to provide tailored, just-in-time communication with the user of your mobile app. This presentation includes a number of demos of location-aware apps, and introduces a generic beacon platform included with Oracle Mobile Cloud Service that allows you to quickly and easily build mobile apps with such types of microproximity services. It also provides examples how AR can be combined with beacons to further enhance the user experience.
The Oracle database has met the highest high availability expectations for decades. The goal of this presentation is to show which technologies Oracle is already using today so that this high standard is not disappointed in the years to come.

Oracle in the 2014 edition of its Open World rolled out new database public cloud service with its DBaaS offerings, but this is just a piece in each company's technological architecture. Businesses still have the need to create a Private cloud and discover the driver to create it; Wether it is a measured service, consolidation or rapid provisioning, finding this driver will be the initial building block for it. This presentation will give you an insight on how a Private Cloud is architected, how the service catalog is the most important brick and how get the benefit of this upcoming era of Databases.
For many higher education institutions, students and alumni represent a wide diversity of backgrounds and interests. Those differences are clearly reflected in what information they consume and how they respond to communications. While the established institutions with brand and name recognition are experiencing an unprecedented spike in applications, the relatively unknown local colleges and universities are still struggling to establish their mark, attract students, and ultimately prove that a degree from their establishment holds weight in a challenged economy.
Higher education marketers are challenged to build a loyal student and alumni base, increase revenues to the institution, and measure individual campaigns and their impact. These very same schools face additional challenges in media too. Traditional methods of advertising such as print, television, and radio are expensive and difficult to measure. The solution is an aggressive yet holistic inbound and outbound digital communication strategy. To develop an authentic 1:1 relationship with students and alumni requires a steady stream of personalized messages and content that nurture while cultivating long-term engagement and loyalty. Higher education marketers must replace the methods of the past and begin the journey to Modern Marketing where technology and expertise deliver the power they need to succeed.
Overcome decreasing physician access, and meet their demand for self-education via digital media.

Approaches for WebLogic Server in the Cloud (OpenWorld, September 2014)jeckels
With Oracle WebLogic Server now available "as a service" both on premise working in conjunction with Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Pack and also in several Public Clouds beyond Oracle Public Cloud, customers have a clear set of architectural alternatives when looking at building out an enterprise cloud strategy for WebLogic Server. Cloud with WebLogic Server is not just core server but the layered and related products needed in a cloud infrastructure -Web Tier, WebLogic Server, Database and Fusion Middleware - as well as the full lifecycle capabilities needed: development, administration and operations. Navigate a pragmatic cloud approach for your organization and WebLogic Server.
