In this tutorial we are going to explore the key features available to instructors in a Minerva module area in Edit Mode. The features are also available in Minerva organisations. This tutorial is part of the Getting Started with Minerva training for staff and postgraduate researchers who teach, at the University of Leeds.

1. Introduction to the Module

2. In this tutorial we are
going to explore the
key features available
in a Minerva module
area in Edit Mode. The
features are also
available in Minerva
organisations.

3. If you hover your
mouse along the
right-hand edge of the
side menu, the
Hide/Show Module
Menu tab appears.
Hiding the menu
enables users to
focus on content.

4. Switch Edit Mode ON
to enable access to all
the tools available to
edit the module area.

5. Now Edit Mode is ON
the interface is slightly
busier. Let’s explore
the key features.

6. On-screen contextual help appears
throughout the interface, providing
guidance on using tools. If the
guidance isn’t available for you,
select the question mark icon next to
Edit Mode.

7. Breadcrumbs are a set of
links which display where
you are within a module
area; these are active
links you can select to
navigate around the
space more efficiently.

8. Enter Student Preview
Mode enables you to test
your module from the
perspective of a student.

9. More edit options
become available
when you hover
your mouse
across the
interface. You can
also use the Tab
key on your
keyboard. The
little arrows which
appear are called
Action Links.

10. From the + icon
above the module
side menu, you can
add more Content
Areas, tools and
features.

11. Double-headed
arrows indicate
the content can
be re-ordered by
dragging and
dropping.

12. Keyboard accessible re-ordering of the
menu is a feature for screen-readers
although useful for all, especially if you have
a problem using drag and drop e.g. using a
touchscreen device.

13. Let’s explore a Content
Area in Edit Mode. This
one is called Learning
Resources. A Content
Area is a folder or
container.

14. The bar below
Learning
Resources is called
the Action Bar.
Hovering the
mouse over Add
Content reveals all
the available tools.
