An introduction to KrakenD, the ultra-high performance API Gateway with middlewares. An opensource tool built using go that is currently serving traffic in major european sites.
This Tutorial on express js middleware will walk you through all the topics like what is middleware, function of middleware and then we will be creating a middleware in express js. Middleware is a request handler that has access to the application's request-response cycle. It is a function that contains the request object, response object, and the next middleware function, Middleware can only be applied using routes. With the help of middleware, we can access and modify request and response, and we use functions to modity our middleware to perform many tasks. We can create a middleware in a router files but the best way is to create a middleware file separately and then use it, Creating and using middleware is very easy.
gRPC in Golang presentation
In this talk, I introduced gRPC, Protocol buffer, and how to use them with golang.
Source code used in the presentation: http://github.com/AlmogBaku/grpc-in-go
Back in 2015, Square and Google collaborated to launch gRPC, an open source RPC framework backed by protocol buffers and HTTP/2, based on real-world experiences operating microservices at scale. If you build microservices, you will be interested in gRPC.
This webcast covers:
- a technical overview of gRPC
- use cases and applicability in your stack
- a deep dive into the practicalities of operationalizing gRPC
During my journey in micro-services, it became apparent that the REST standard has been widely used in communication between micro-services for a long time. But recently the gRPC started to invade its territory. It turns out that there are some good reasons for this. In this lecture, I will present an introduction to gRCP, its main characteristics and the reasons why companies like Google, Netflix, and Docker are adopting this flexible and performative medium of communication.

Real time web applications with SignalR (BNE .NET UG)brendankowitz
Static web pages and data don't cut it anymore. Information online is real-time and even web applications should respond to continuous changes. As SignalR has recently been introduced as a component to the ASP.NET runtime there's no better time to start building web application that respond to change. SignalR does all the heavy lifting and makes it easy to introduce into a wide range of projects, so pry your application out of the static mould and start responding to the real dynamic nature of information and changes as they occur.
Creating responsive and interactive web applications has always been one of my hidden dreams. One of the biggest show stopper has been the communication between server and clients. The rise of websockets now open some space for a brand new kind of applications; but we need a library that makes things 'easy' for us and that is able to fall back on previous solutions when the latest technologies are not available.
Suddenly on the ASP.NET scene appears SignalR: a persistence connection abstraction library that helps ASP.NET developers deal with 'real time' client-server communication sceneries.
Developing Revolutionary Web Applications using Comet and Ajax PushDoris Chen
Join the asynchronous web revolution! Because Ajax-based applications are almost becoming the de facto technology for designing web-based applications, it is more and more important that such applications react on the fly, or in real time, to both client and server events. AJAX can be used to allow the browser to request information from the web server, but does not allow a server to push updates to a browser. Comet solves this problem. Comet is a technology that enables web clients and web servers to communicate asynchronously, allowing real-time operations and functions previously unheard of with traditional web applications to approach the capabilities of desktop applications. This session will start to provide an brief introduction to the asynchronous web, AJAX polling, long polling, and Streaming, explaining the Bayeux protocol, Cometd, Grizzly Comet implementation on GlassFish. Different approaches and best practices to develop comet application will also be discussed. You will learn how to develop the chat application, how to implement distance learning slideshow application, how to manage a chat application from the server and how to develop a two-player distributed game application. Attendees will take away the tactics they need in order to add multiuser collaboration, notification and other Comet features to their application, whether they develop with Dojo, jQuery, jMaki, or Prototype and whether they deploy on Jetty, Tomcat, or the GlassFish Application Server.

Node.js BFFs - our way to the better/micro frontendsEugene Fidelin
To be able to implement new features in as little time as possible, we migrated our
monolithic Java-based frontends towards smaller Node.js BFFs (backend-for-frontend, BFF
pattern - create separate backend services to be consumed by specific frontend
applications).
Now we are close to the next step in our journey and adopt Micro-frontends architecture to
build our web apps as a composition of even smaller features which are owned by
independent teams

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Introduction to SignalR
1. Adam Mokan
@adammokan
Desert Code Camp
Nov 5th, 2011
2. What is SignalR?
• Creates a “persistent connection” between
server and client(s) in ASP.NET allowing you
to push data from server to client.
• Led by David Fowler and Damian Edwards.
• Not an official Microsoft project.
• OSS project on Github with MIT License.
• NuGet packages available.
• Simple to setup & just works.
Install-Package SignalR
3. Potential use-cases
• Chat - Don’t be that developer *
• Real-time impact analysis on current users
• Pub-sub mechanism for analytics, logging,
exception capture
• Real-time charting without repeat client-side
ajax polling
• Collaborative applications allowing multiple
users to interact with the same screen
• Real-time analytics dashboard showing client
details (geo-location based on IP address,
browser info, screen resolution, etc)
• “Growl-like” notifications for users
* No offense towards someone that has the real need to build a chat application from scratch but this reminds
me of the “Learn Rails and build a blog” tutorials years ago.
5. SignalR.Server
• Two primary approaches to
implementing
• Persistent Connections (low-level)
• Implements an IHttpHandler
• Must implement a route to make the endpoint accessible.
• public class TestEndpoint : PersistentConnection { // do
something }
• Hubs (high-level)
• Automatically implements route over “<app>/signalr/hubs/” by
convention.
• public class TestHub : Hub { // do something }
6. SignalR client
libraries
• SignalR.Js - Javascript SignalR client
• SignalR.Client - .NET client for
SignalR
• SignalR.Client.WP7 - Windows Phone
client for SignalR
7. Wait, I thought WebSockets
were meant for this?
This all works over HTTP?
8. Let’s look at how we interact with the web
in a vast majority of scenarios and how some
HTTP cleverness allows SignalR to work.
