This document provides an introduction and overview of descriptive methods in psychology. It discusses observational studies, case studies, and survey research as the three main descriptive methods used to collect data. It also covers correlational studies and how they are used to determine relationships between two variables through scatterplots and correlation coefficients ranging from -1 to 1. However, correlations do not prove cause and effect - they just indicate a relationship exists. Experimental studies are needed to test causation.
