Examples Of Operant Condition
Operant condition Operant conditioning is based on the work of B. F. Skinner. Operant
conditioning is a form of learning in which the motivation for a behavior happens after the
behavior is demonstrated. There are four different types of operant conditioning 1 Postive
reinforcement: add a stimulus: usually liked, an example for positive reinforcement having a job
and going to work every day to receive a paycheck. 2 Negative reinforcement subtracts or reduces a
stimulus: usually dislike. An example for Negative reinforcement you scold your child for running
into the street in order to decrease the unsafe behavior. 3 Positive punishments that mean add a
stimulus; usually disliked. Example: If your instructor tells you that you can skip the... Show more

Karin is12 years and Kiro is 9 years, one of them when we attempt to go shopping, whether it is
to the market or pharmacy. They constantly ask me to buy toys for them. I have decided to use
my new knowledge regarding operant condition with my children. I began to use positive
reinforcement with them; first I sat them down and gave them rules. I explained the rules to
them, and I also gave them the rules and instruction sheet. They must do it to earn tokens. I
decided to use token as a reward, after they collect the token they will use them to buy what they
need, if they follow the rules .We have began the process immediately. I shared with them all the
rules, and I also told them that I love them so much , but we have to work together to learn a
good habit. For example if they need a toy cost five dollars, they must collect five token from me.
I made a rules and instruction sheet. They will take one token each day if they follow the rules. .I
also shared with them all the rules we spoke about our family budget and they understand that we
cannot and will not buy excess item each time we

American Library Association Vs. Salinger s The Catcher...
J.D. Salinger s, The Catcher in the Rye, holds the honor of appearing on Time magazine s 2010
list of the 100 best English language novels written since 1923 (Lacayo). In contrast, the
American Library Association (ALA) notes that the novel also holds the dubious honor of being
the tenth most challenged book in the United States from 1990 to 1999. In 2001, 2005, and 2009
the book again made the ALA top ten most frequently challenged book list (Banned and
Challenged Books). In the light of this history, the question arises as to what makes The Catcher
in the Rye so divisive? Ever since the novel first appeared in 1951, it has been challenged by critics
who advocate removing it from high school curriculums. These opponents of the novel fear the
profanityand perceived immorality of the central character, Holden Caulfield, will corrupt young
adults. However, these harsh critics fail to recognize that The Catcher in the Rye offers young
adults profound moral lessons penned with real world words they can identify with, and no
person should be denied the right to read those words. Salinger s protagonist, Holden Caulfied,
narrates his adventure with words that express all the angst, anger, and unpredictability of a
typical seventeen year old. In his rants against society and phonies, Holden freely swears his way
through his story. The profanities that flow from Holden s mouth are the everyday words often
spoken by a young adult coming of age. As a result, his

Psychology And The Legal System. Paper 1. With Recent...
Psychology and the Legal System
Paper 1With recent legislative issues making the news, one topic that has received a great deal of
attention is that of indeterminate sentencing. This is the imposition of a sentence with no
mandatory release date or set period of sentence to be served. Instead, one s sentence length is
determined by the inmate s conduct while in prison. Upon successful completion of requirements
the inmate may be returned to society, but it is possible that they will be kept behind bars for the
remainder of his/her natural life. There are many issues that have come to light with indeterminate
and determinate sentencing, such as how successful was the inmate? Is there really rehabilitation
for sex offenders or drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with indeterminate sentencing is that it often puts too much power into the hands of
the parole board which then can lead to arbitrary and discriminatory results. It has been seen that
minorities and prisoners without connections receive overly harsh decisions of the parole boards
while less deserving offenders are being released early.(Portman, 2017) Even with some of the
issues at hand indeterminate sentencing is making a comeback. This is now happening even more
as our prisons are becoming overcrowded. In turn, allowing more room for judicial or parole board
discretion. Prosecutors are exercising discretion when they decide which of many arrests to charge
and for what particular crime. Juries exercise discretion in not convicting defendants who killed
under circumstances that may have justified their actions. A jury may opt to exercise discretion
when it deliberates the fate of the alleged perpetrator. Parole boards also have the opportunity to
excise discretion when they decide whether to commute a death sentence to life
imprisonment.(Greene, E., Heilbrun, K. 2014 pg. 10 11) This is being seen in many states where
rehabilitation is available and viewed as a reasonable attainable outcome for offenders.Determinate
sentencing began to spread widely during the 1970s and 1980s and is now the rule in many states.
(Portman, 2017) In the late 1970s, a rising crime rate, concern over individual rights, and a distrust
of the government in the wake of

Essay on Ritalin and Its Effects on Children
Thesis: Today there is a great debate concerning the diagnosis and treatment of ADD/ADHD and
who has the right to decide what happens. It is estimated that between 3 and 12 percent of the
population has to deal with conditions known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This equals approximately 3 million children in the United
States alone. Both of these disorders (ADD and ADHD) exhibit the same traits leading them to be
lumped together. Children affected by ADD or ADHD have behavior and emotional problems.
Trouble concentrating on simple tasks, a short attention span, failing to give attention to details, and
disruptive behavior are a few of the problems resulting from... Show more content on

However, the specific gene or genes causing them have not been found despite the completion of the
Human Genome Project. Technological advances have allowed for the discovery of new
information though.
These disorders can be acquired may different ways. One of these ways is before birth. The use of
drugs, toxemia, infectious diseases, exposure to radiation, prematurity, and complicated delivery are
all causes of this disorder originating during pregnancy and delivery. Post delivery causes include
meningitis, encephalitis, seizures from fever, head injury, and lead toxicity. All of these conditions
lead to damage to the brain (About ADD/ADHD).
ADD and ADHD can also be looked at as developmental disorders. This is because some children
seem to outgrow these conditions as they get older. These people were sometimes labeled
underachievers when they were young, and now classified late bloomers since they have outgrown
their disorders.
Many drugs have been developed to treat ADD and ADHD. One of these drugs is Methylphenidate
otherwise known as Ritalin. It is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for treatment of ADD
and ADHD. Use of Ritalin is up 700 percent since 1990 (ABC News). Other drugs also used in
treatment of ADD and ADHD include Zoloft, Praxil, and Cylert. Ritalin is a drug that is used to
restore neurotransmitters in those that lack or have malfunctioning nerve impulses in the

Classic Coming of Age Stories in A White Heron by Sarah...
Reading coming of age stories are always interesting and at times nastolgic. Coming of age stories
typically include a young protagonist forced to make a grown decision which is a transition to their
first move into adulthood. In a sense, these stories show the protagonist shifting from innocence to
gaining experiences. The two coming of agestories that we read in class were A White Heron by
Sarah Orne Jewettand The Man Who Was Almost A Man by Richard Wright. Both being coming
of age stories, they have similar features but were different in the sense that one protagonist
seemed to have made a shift into adulthood whereas one did not. Starting of with A White Heron
, the story starts with a mellow, quiet mood. Sylvia is walking in the woods with her companion,
her cow. Jewett includes words and phrases such as childish patience and the little girl that
makes the reader grasp the idea of Sylvia being a child. The fact that Sylvia hears the whistle of
the stranger and hides also show the idea of her being a young child. The first day meeting the
stranger, Sylvia seems reserved and not paying much attention to him talking about the white
heron, even when he confesses to pay ten dollar for anyone who helps him find it. Soon enough,
Sylvia develops a crush on the hunter. She does go in the woods with him for his needs to find
the white heron but she does not disclose where the bird could be, it seemed as if she just wanted
to enjoy his company. When Sylvia goes on her

How To Infect Salmon
At first when I started college, I was on the path to become a biologist. I wanted to get more
experience in the field, so I asked my advisor, Doctor Amanda Gunn, if there was had any
opportunities for me to get hands on experience in my field. She said she was studying
Aeromonas Salmonicida, a bacterium that causes diseases in salmon. She wanted me to use
bioinformatics tools to learn about its ability to infect salmon. The goal was to determine if certain
aspects of the bacterium could be modified or genetically engineered so the salmon s immune
system would be able to respond more efficiently. This lead me down the path of bioengineering, a
field of study where genetic material is altered for certain characteristics. After completing the...

I go to church on Saturday and while I am not out with my age group every week, I m with a
people who are at least a decade older or younger than me. Some of these people don t get to talk
people to people much so it s fun listening to their stories and fun having someone to listen to them.
People like military members, outdoorsman, and engineers. I also heard about the experience of
being homeless. Aberdeen gets very rainy and cold at night, so not having a place to stay is awful.
The rain from that isn t drained gets all over the sidewalk and whoever has to walk there for just
10 minutes gets their shoes soggy and moist. Imagine walking around all day and sleeping all
night in that! Being homeless also means it harder to afford find food. Hearing these stories
from people I talked to every week made me want to do something about it. I ran for ASB of my
high school and became the Senior Class President. I used my position to organize foodball, an
event where two cities compete to raise the most resources for the Coastal Harvest. That is a food
storage facility that donates to food banks across the State of Washington in times of emergency.
The year I was running it the two cities competing were Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Even though
the name was foodball, it wasn t just food we were collecting. It was also money to donate to and
help raise resources for food banks, like socks, shoes, and shirts. I cleaned up after the events,
dressed up as a mascot and danced to raise money for several events. I was even able to run an
intercity dodgeball game. A game which Aberdeen won. Although Aberdeen didn t beat Hoquiam
in the end, we managed to beat the amount of food raised last year. After foodball ended, I
decided I wanted to do more. I became a deacon at my church and several times a month I help run
the P.A., fix broken things around the church with my dad, and count and collect offering. While
Aberdeen does have a punk flair to it, I feel it

I was given an outfit I could only describe as... fallacious for a personal assistant. It was more like
a SS guard s cook outfit than a regular inmate s. I worked there for as far longer than I wanted to,
but that was true for all of Auschwitz. I worked there for about 2 years. Most of the time I was
simply cooking for the SS officer, but I don t think I ever learned his name. Maybe he thought I
wasn t worthy of learning his name. Maybe he thought I wasn t worthy of this job. I lived every
day fearing that he would deal the finishing blow after beating me. In the last month that I
worked there, I could tell the SS guard was becoming more hostile than hitler, even to other
guards. When I got the chance, I went into his office to see what he was so mad about. HANS
SCHMITZ, IS HEREBY BANNED FROM AUSCHWITZ FOR MISCONDUCT AGAINST
OTHER GUARDS. HE IS TO LEAVE THE PREMISES AT 1400, TOMORROW. His name was
Hans. Or he just assumes his friend s name is Hans, and he is mad for leaving. I m guessing his
name was Hans. But the date is from 2 years ago. I stayed up that night just thinking over how or
why he was still here. Was it my fault? Did I do something that made him stay here? Why is he
here if he was banned? Wait. Then he obviously isn t banned. Or is he? AARGH! This racked my
brain harder than something... something... Very hard? I was awoken by gunshots. But there were

Interview Dr. Marie Hobart Essay
On Sunday October 23rd at midday I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Marie Hobart from
Community Healthlink. For over twenty four years Dr. Marie Hobart has been an employee of
Community Healthlink as a psychiatrist and for the last ten to twelve years as the Chief Medical
Officer of CHL. She is also an employee of UMasss Memorial Healthcare, and a clinical associate
professor of psychiatry. Dr. Hobart s work with CHL focuses on people with serious and persistent
illness, developmental disabilities, and addiction and her goal in addition to helping patients one
on one is to help create a system of care for people who are traditionally not able to access care in
other ways (Hobart). Dr. Hobart explained that she always wanted to work in health, and working
with people in the community leading her to become a public psychiatrist in the city of Worcester,
Massachusetts. As Dr. Hobart works in the Worcester public healthsector as both a practicing
physician and an administrator, her dual roles create a unique position as an agent of direct
community support and an advocate for changes to the public medical system. Dr. Hobart is a
medically focused community organizer and her work is most easily tied to the Women Centered
model of community development (Stall, Stoecker; 202). Her desire to see greater connections
between medical assistance and social aid, as well as, her work that recognizes the social factors
that lead to health problems illustrates how she is an

It is a natural tendency for people to assume that they are smarter than people that are younger than
they are. It is widely thought that with age, comes more knowledge, and a better understanding of
the world. However, this thinking can t be used as a broad statement for entire generations of
people. While there certainly are older people that are much wiser than younger people, this fact
doesn t mean that younger generations as a whole are dumb. With the knowledge and discoveries
made by previous generations at the disposal of younger generation s, the youngpeople of today are
smarter than ever. Many people state the claim that because the students of today aren t able to

People claim that new developments have caused kids to be so dependent on their devices, that
they can t think for themselves. This claim can also be turned around by saying that technology
has given kids more opportunities and chances to learn, and in particular, more opportunities to
write (Source 7, Clive Thompson). An example of this is a study done at Stanford University,
where it was discovered that Stanford students did a stunning 38 percent of their writing outside
of the classroom (Source 7, Clive Thompson). With the developments of E mail, texting, and
social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, younger people are constantly writing in
their every day lives. In the past, people would, for the most part, stop writing once the finishes
their education. Now however, people are more comfortable, and more used to, writing. And
while the argument that technology has decreased level of the vocabulary and vernacular of
young people is true in some cases, the increase in writing shown by young people has led to a
greater ability to convey information to other people, and a greater comfort in talking to people
they don t know (Source 7, Clive Thompson). As Andrea Lunsford says, I think we re in the midst
of a literacy revolution the likes of which we haven t seen since Greek Civilization (Source 7, Clive

The New Class Of Anti Diabetic Drugs
Abstract
Glitazones are the new class of anti diabetic drugs that are the first to be able to manage
glycaemia goals. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn
from the market by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone
were introduced in 1999 as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is
under black box warning for increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a
nutshell as the drug required more investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the
adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in
the future.
Introduction
Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes
mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in
1950s the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of
glitazone or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14).
Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin
resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor Оі
(PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The
PPAR Оі controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the
metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have

In 1909 the Lowry family moved to Pendlebury. The landscape was dominated by textile mills and
the chimneys of the factories. He had taken art classes as a child. Later he went to Manchester
school of art and then to Salford Royal Technical College. After his father died he often painted. His
paintings often featured industrial towns in northern England, like Pendlebury. They captured

Also he was the Official Artist of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. He was a very

Causes Of Video Games To Blame For Violence
Are Video Games to Blame for Violence? An entertainment that has been around for years now,
and progresses technologically is becoming the blame for real life criminal acts in youth. Every
year video games advance to becoming more realistics in all of their aspects. It is said that the
fictional acts in video games are causing real life criminal actions, and in result the media is
posting blame to them. Video games are one of the most argumentative cause to criminal acts or
aggressive acts in youth. According to Videogames.procon.org, Video games have been
pinpointed to being the lead cause to the Sandy Hook and Columbine shooting. News outlets
bring up the fact violent video games in almost any criminal act committed by youth. Instead of
diving into research and developing facts and supported evidence; reporters find using the easier
route to be best. They just simply blame it on something else, and in this case violent video
games. So, the question to be answered is do violent video games contribute to such criminal
actions in youth? Much research has been done trying to conclude an answer to this question, but
the results have and will be always the same, they do not. Video games are merely a form of
entertainment the only action they will encourage is aggression. Video games have been around
for years progressing from hitting a ball with two blocks to immersing the player into the game
allowing them to be virtually involved. Videogames.procon.org states, 97% of US

FINANCIAL RISK MANAGEMENT
Management of Financial Institutions and The Banking Crisis
Risk is uncertainty. The more risk one takes, the more he or she stands to lose or gain. One cannot
expect high returns without taking substantial risks.
The outcomes are thrown open to uncertainty. In general, when we talk about risk, we focus on
financial risk. In financial terms, it is the risk that a company or individual could lose some or all
of the original investment, possibly resulting in inadequate cash flow to meet financial obligations.
All wise investments follow risk consideration. To be successful, every investor must be able to

It had been widely known that problems with the banks in the US were due to the phenomenon of
sub prime lending for housing. Many of the loans had turned into toxic assets as borrowers failed to
meet repayments.
Similar to Northern Rock, the banks continued to give loans in this manner as they too chose to
securitize their loans because this method of trading appeared so profitable. This was a highly
successful mechanism to operate until the number of defaulters increased to the point where these
assets began to turn illiquid. Investors started to avoid securities as it was now evident many were
flawed. Moreover, Northern Rock in their quest for greater financial returns found securities that
attractive they also invested in them.
With trading slowing in the financial markets, many institutions began to react to the impending
crisis by taking a more cautious approach to lending. In comparison Northern Rock were so focused
on returning profits and generating growth that, at a time when monetary policy was tightening
faster than expected, the bank had agreed to issue a tranche of mortgages at interest rates that were
lower than those it had to eventually pay in the markets to finance them (The Economist, 2007,

the impending shortfall in cash and ultimately the need to be bailed out.

The Ethical Considerations When Collecting The Data
The ethical considerations when collecting the data, is for the children or young people
participating not to be subject to harm in any way. The questions and the observations need to be
done in a respectful way and their dignity should be prioritised. Carrying out this type of research
consist of full consent from the stakeholders and the children. The children s protection of privacy
has to be ensured at all times. When analysing the data there needs to be an adequate level of
confidentiality of the researchdata. There needs to be anonymity for the individuals and aware they
can withdraw consent at any time. All the professionals participating need to be respected. Finally,
all communication should be done with honestly and any misleading information should be avoided.
Similarly, the ethical issues identified is the researcher needs to work alongside vulnerable children
who may be reluctant to talk or build relationships. Therefore, information may not be given
truthfully, so building a rapport is vital when collecting data. Also, the children and youngpeople
may disclose personal experiences or crime they have done and it s the researcher s role to protect
the children and consider what is relevant to the research question.
Adapting the mixed method approach, will take into consideration the children and young people s
ages and sensitivity to personal issues. The questionnaires and surveys will be aimed at the 11 16

Iganga Nursing Literature Review
Our findings indicated that health workers perceived reviews as part of continuous quality
improvement that emanated from the general routine work and cultural environment within the
hospital. We think this contributed to a continuous MPDR practice within the hospital despite of
the challenges faced.
It was revealed in other studies that the most successful reviews were characterized by three
interdependent, supportive cultural factors which are supportive health professionals, supportive
institutional culture and supportive political and policy environment14. It was also revealed that
the perceptions held by the health workers about MPDRs also varied from one study to another.

Our findings revealed that mentorships greatly supported health workers conduct reviews. This is

Health workers desire to change but the context of implementation has to count16, 26. In Uganda, it

Legality and Ethicality of Financial Reporting
Legality and Ethicality of Financial Reporting Janet Tran ETH/376 Kathrine Parks University of
Phoenix/Axia July 21, 2014 Excello Telecommunications was presented with a dilemma on how
the company should report earnings so that they would appear to have met earning estimates for
the 2010 financial year. The CFO, Terry Reed, was concerned with how failure to meet earning
estimates would affect bonuses, stock options, and the share price of Excello stock. On December

In the first scenario, the company transfers the product to an off site warehouse owned by
Excello by December 31 and holds it there until January 11 when it would be shipped to Data
Equipment. The second scenario would transfer the product to Data Equipment by December
31 and agree that the customer could return it for a full refund after it has arrived at Data
Equipments warehouse. The third option has Excello offering Data Equipment a 10 percent
discount to take the product by December 31. The first scenario would be unethical because it
does not comply with GAAP or the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct because Excello still
has ownership of the goods. The goods are being sent to an off site warehouse that is owned by
Excello Telecommunications. It would be unethical for the company to choose this because the
transfer of ownership has not occurred. A transfer of ownership would only occur when Data
Equipment has the goods in their possession. Excello would legally still have legal title of the
goods since it was stored in their warehouse. Failure to comply with this principle could cause a
lot of negative consequences for everyone that has a public interest in the company. Second
scenario would not be beneficial to the company and it would also not be ethical to take this
approach. If Data Equipment returns the goods before the financial reports are released, disclosure

The Free Trade Area Of The Americas
The Free Trade Area of the Americas
Introduction
The Free Trade Area of the Americas agreement (FTAA), was first introduced in 1994 with
intentions of finalizing the deal by 2005. However, the agreement failed to pass due to the
backlash of some of the Latin American countries involved, especially Venezuela and its
President of the time, Hugo Chavez, who held a strong vocal opposition of the free trade
agreement (The Defeat of the FTAA). In this paper I will discuss the history of the FTAA, about
how it started, why it did not happen, and if it will be possible in the future. I will give my
opinion on whether the FTAA will ever come back and if the current free trade deals will help or
hurt a possible resurgence of the FTAA.

We all know about the dictators Hitler Mussolini and Stalin but how did they gain power. This

political power? But What is a cult of personality, how did Stalin, Mussolini and Hitler use their
cults of personality to gain political power and keep it? how the citizens viewed them? What is a
cult of personality? A cult of personality is something that happens when individuals use the
power of media to create a heroic or greater image of themselves. Individuals accomplish this with
the use of media control and propaganda. Some individual do this to get people to side with them

Ever since the Roaring 20 s ,its been almost unachievable to pass a even a day without using
technology. Us commoners nowadays use technology for everything. From communication and
education,we are constantly glued to our electronics,so that we can keep up with each other, get
instant information, and all in all, get things done! Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that
technology is a huge part of our lives. But what if something happened, that could make all that
vital technology inaccessible? We would probably be screwed. In the novel Lord of the Flies,by
William Golding, a devastating plane crash leaves a group of boys on a deserted island with

It can also be used as a giant fan if i whip it around quickly. In essence, even though bringing a
blanket with me to an island sounds impractical,it comes in handy, and thats why I m bringing it.
Last but not least, the third item i would bring is a lifetime supply of food. This is obviously
necessary considering the fact that I am a human, and humans need to eat.Contrary to Lord of the
Flies, I don t think i would have the guts to hunt and eat a raw, wild, pig. Just the thought of it
grosses me out and like i said before, I m lazy and wouldn t go through the trial and error of
hunting. And although fruit is pretty good, I can t imagine eating it all the time. Having my own
food supply would allow me to be independent, because I don t have to rely on anyone, any
animal, or even nature, for food. Another big reason to have some food with me, is that I could
use it as negotiation to get myself rescued a lot more quicker. If a random ship comes by, I could
just give them some food if they bring me back home. that would make life easier, and it s
common sense. All these reasons aside, I would obviously need food, so that s the third thing I m
bringing with me. It s obvious that we have become way too dependent on technology. With all this
technology making our lives easier, it s hard sometimes to think outside the box. However, I know
that if something similar to what happened to the boys in Lord of the Flies happened to me,i could

The Master And Margarita By Mikhail Bulgakov
Mikhail Bulgakov s imaginative novel, The Master and Margarita has been considered to be
one of the best novels of the twentieth century. The Master and Margarita has focused on
Bulgakov s cosmology and how the events of the novel can be seen as a mirror of his world
view. One of the characters, Ivan Nikolayevich Ponyrev appears in the very first chapter of the
novel as a very young, antichristian poet and also in the Epilogue as a wiser historian and
philosopher. In terms of Ivan s role, he is a transmitter of the Master s messages and also the
elaboration of Bulgakov s vision of history. (add more details) Ivan Nikolayevich Ponyrev, he is a

Professor Woland is frequently referred to in the novel as a foreigner. When he arrives and
begins talking with Berlioz and Ivan about the existence or nonexistence of God and Jesus, he is
actually questioning the official atheism. Their conversation revels Bulgakov s world view and his
cosmological emphasis. Bulgakov s novel was written in the 1930 s, a time of great repression and
hardship in the Soviet Union under Stalin. It was written at the height of Stalin s reign of terror.
The novel reveals the freedom of the spirit in an unfree world. When professor Woland tells Ivan
and Berlioz that he has ability to predict the future, he is questioning that how a dominator controls
much of Soviet life. In terms of the structure of The Master and Margarita, the figure of Ivan has
indisputable significance. According to Laura D. Weeks, he points out he is the character that
opens and closes the novel, the source of at least one of the Pilate chapters, and the only truly
sympathetic character consistently tied to the Moscow level of the novel (2). The story of Pontius
Pilate is told by professor Woland. He declares that he was present for the entire story he has

My Humanitarian And Human Rights Project On The Famous And...
I chose to do my Humanitarian and Human Rights Project on the famous and loving Bob Marley.
Bob Marley is widely recognized as a man that portrays and lives a peaceful life that we could all
learn from. Although he passed on May 11, 1981, his legend still remains bigger and better than
ever. Bob Marley was a great Reggaesinger who promoted peace with his songs, free concerts and
actions. With that being said, he received many awards and honors recognizing him as a legend.
Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945 and grew up in a mostly rural community in the
mountains called Nine Miles. Many of the residents of Nine Miles acquired customs from their
African ancestry such as story telling to share their past and traditions. When Bob was just getting
into his teen years he moved from St. Ann to Jamaica s capital and settled in Kingston vicinity of
Trench Town. Trench Town was a low income community where Bob had to learn to protect
himself from men that were not so nice. He was given the nickname Tuff Gong from his decent
street fighting skills.
Although Trench Town was mostly poverty and full of street fighting, it was a culturally rich
community where Bob s musical talents flourished. Trench Town was incorporated in his songs,
No Woman Cry , Trench Town Rock , and the last one being Trench Town . Bob s mom wanted
him to pick up a trade. When Bob was just 14 years old he accepted a position as a welder s
apprentice. After an incident with a steel splinter in Bob s

Interesting Features of Ancient Civilizations
Question: Try to imagine what it was like to live during that time and in that place. What was it that
caused the transition from Neolithic life to civilization? What were some of the major features of
those civilizations that you found interesting? One of the most interesting features of ancient
civilizations was the extent to which topography influenced cultural worldviews and practices. For
example, in the case of the Sumerians, they possessed a highly evolved and complex culture, as
manifested in the philosophical depth of their Epic of Gilgamesh. However, the openness of the
land in which they lived to invaders made them vulnerable as did the propensity of the land to
catastrophic flooding. This may be one of the reasons why they did not create as politically and
architecturally complex a society as Egypt or Greece. It also likely affected the relatively dark
worldview expressed in Gilgamesh. However, despite the susceptibility to invasions, subsequent
civilizations in the area, like the Babylonians, created ways of tracking the stars and other valuable
methods of observing and interpreting the world in a scientific fashion that were to become the
building blocks of modern civilizationin other areas. In contrast to Mesopotamia, Egypt had the
advantage of a regular, predictable source of fertilization of its soil in the form of the Nile. This
stable source of food enabled the creation of one of the world s great empires. The pharaoh was

Death Penalty In Texas
The death penalty is the punishment of execution. The death penalty was authorized by 32 states,
the Federal Government, and the U.S. Military. Throughout the years, the method of the death
penalty has changed. Not only has the way it is performed been altered, but also the way our
presidential candidates view the death penalty. For example, when George Bush was governor of
Texas in the 1990s, he approved executions. He sent some to death who might have been
innocent. Death sentences in Texas have dropped nearly 80% since 1999. In 1977, Oklahoma
became the first state to adopt lethal injection as a form of execution. Lethal injection is the
primary method used. On December 2, 1982, Charles Brooks became the first person executed
by lethal injection in Texas. Besides the deadly injection, the electric chair nicknamed Old
Sparky, was also an execution method. Texas, along with Louisiana, Ohio, and Illinois used the
electric chair. The electric chair was in use from 1924 until 1964. Old Sparky was said to have

Plato s Laws And Xenophon s Hiero
Practically in all his discourses, Plato wrote about the works of Socrates that acted as the main
persona in his confabs. In Plato s laws and Xenophon s Hiero, a further wise man other than
Socrates acted as the leader of the discourse. While having protagonist confabs in Plato s and
Xenophon s works, Socratestries to interrogate understanding of the further man on the aspect of
morality. Socrates presented himself as a less knowledgeable person in the domain of moral
issues to confuse the other person who boasts of being more knowledgeable on the same. Using
this ironical approach known as the Socratic Irony , Socrates was able to illustrate inconsistency of
the other person s views on morality. Although the early and middle works of Platoare considered as
Socratic dialogue, understanding the composition and chronology of Plato s work is a bit
complex since even the ancient sources do not present these works chronologically. Plato s work
basically involved posing questions and answers as a way of stimulating critical thinking. Defender
of a particular point of view would be questioned, and then one of the parties would contradict
himself in order to confuse his counterpart and in doing so, the defender would be made weak.
Socrates discourses revolved around traditions, justice, afterlife and education. In light to this, this
paper will unravel Socrates accounts balance Aristophanes and Xenophon s on afterlife, justice and
law, education and traditional practices. In

Stigmata And Religion
Today we will be breaking down the religious aspects in the 1999 supernatural horror film
Stigmata. It is one of my favorite movies because of the allure and how it tried to give a different
take on religion. It was one of the first of its kind to explore the concept of Stigmata and in a
different light that was seen highly offensive to Catholics which is where the concept of Stigmata
comes from, which is the Roman Church. To some Catholics stigmata is a sign of holiness, so in
theory, there is no reason for an atheist to bare the marks of Jesus. While the movie was amazing to

behaviors and vice versa (SAS Institute Inc.). From the HR perspective, Walmart seeks to
understand how to harness the knowledge of its associates and make it available and accessible for
everyone in the organization (SAS Institute Inc.). This plethora of raw data, along with the high
potential to improve both sales and HR management is a challenging task which creates a
significant demand for analytics talent.
To combat this demand, Walmart decided to apply crowdsourcing, with positive results (Marr,
2015). In 2014, Walmart turned to crowdsourced analytics competition platform Kaggle for an
army of armchair data scientists who applied their skills to analytical problems submitted by
companies (Marr, 2015). As a result of this competition, the designer of the best solution was
rewarded sometimes financially and in this case the winner was granted a job at Walmart in the
technology division.
Wal Mart is always looking for the competitive edge and doesn t limit its BI software use. In fact,
Wal Mart even creates its own software to collect and analyze data. Walmart has been able to
consolidate ten different websites into one and store all incoming data in the new

Satan s Places In The Book Of Elijah
Elijah and Elisha are proceeding on their journey. They re now headed to a place called Jericho and
the fourth verse reads, Elijah said to him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray you, for the Lord has sent me to
Jericho. But he said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So they came to
Jericho. (cf. 2nd Kings 2:4)
Satan s place the place of war! This is the place where you learn warfare. This is the place where
you have a confrontation with the devil himself. This is the place where you battle for your life.
This is the place where you battle for your sanity. This is the place where you battle for your soul.

Small Business Deductions
If you own your own small business, you know about deducting your business expenses. To be
deductible, the Internal Revenue Service says an expense needs to be both ordinary and
necessary. An ordinary expense is one that is common and accepted in your trade or business. A
necessary expense is one that is helpful or appropriate for your trade or business. An expense
does not have to be indispensable to be considered necessary. But unless you are meticulous
about keeping your receipts and thinking about your business, you may miss many small
deductions that can really add up by the end of the year. For instance, think about your car. You
probably try to keep track of the mileage you drive your car for business appointments. But do
you also keep track of the mileage you drive to the bank, to the post office, or to the office supply
store? These miles can really add up. You should also consider how you can make regular errands
into business trips.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take some flyers and business cards with you. Ask the business owner if you can post the flyers
or if he can pass out the cards for you. PRESTO! A regular errand to pick up lunch has just turned
into a business deduction. Your purpose to visit that business was to explore a new advertising
avenue. You just happened to pick up lunch while you were there. See how easy it can be?
Because it s easier, most small business owners just take the standard mileage deduction. But in
some instances, it makes more sense to deduct your actual expenses, especially if you start your
business while driving an older car which needs some bigger maintenance expenses during the
year. You should consider keeping track of these other expenses so you can compare your tax
deduction: gasoline oil changes, air

The Scavengers Narrative
Clint slumped onto the couch. Breathing a heavy sigh, he closed his eyes for a moment. With
the children all asleep, a peaceful silence hung in the air. Even the sounds of the dripping tap he
needed to repair seemed to cease for this one evening, giving him almost complete quiet. But it
never took long for the silence to transition from peaceful to strange and uncomfortable. As
exhausted as he was, and as much as he enjoyed the peace, it made him restless. Blindly, Clint
reached out and attempted to grab the television remote off the coffee table, without opening his
eyes or shifting his body. So, you can save the world from aliens and killer robots, but grabbing
the remote is such a dreadful struggle, joked Laura, as she picked up the... Show more content on

She tossed and turned, trying to find a comfortable position so she could drift off and forget
momentarily about the day s events. Giving up, reached across to her bedside table and grabbed
her laptop. Usually, Wanda would have used her powers to grab items she needed, but now she
was hesitant. I can t risk it, she thought. I can risk damaging anything, or anyone else. She pulled
herself up into a sitting position and switched on the laptop, the sudden brightness of the screen
causing her to squint. A notification flashed across the screen, informing her of an incoming
video message through the Avengers private communication system from an unidentified caller.
Knowing exactly who it would, she smiled and immediately clicked to answer the call. Clint s
face appeared on the screen within seconds. He appeared to be sitting on the couch in his dimly
lit living room. Hey Wanda, he greeted her with a smile. I didn t wake you, did I? No, don t
worry, she said, leaning over to switch on her lamp so Clint could actually see her face. I doubt I

of the call. So, I... uh... I saw the news, he began, evidently unsure of what to say

Literature Color Symbolism
The Color of Literature
Color symbolism can be used to set the tone of a story and aspects within that story. Colors can
invoke an emotional response as well as paint a picture of a character or scene within the story. In
exploring the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Damrosch, Pike 1200 59) along with
Christopher Columbus letter The Green and Beautiful Land (Columbus 1 7) there are three main
colors that stand out. The first color, as shown in both titles, is green. Green plays a significant
role in both tales as it is the main color of the antagonist in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and
the supple landscape that is described by Columbus. Green also represents negative aspects in the
stories such as misfortune and lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Columbus also describes the islands to have marvelous pine groves, and extensive meadow country
(2) which again symbolizes the nature and fertility of the islands. At the end of Columbus letter, he
tells the king and queen that he can send gum mastic, aloe wood, and rhubarb, all of which are
green and represent the fertility of the new lands (5).
Columbus describes the native islanders as wondrous[ly] timid and delighted to receive items of
little or no value from the crewmen (2). It is in this description that the reader imagines the
inexperience of the islanders, a negative often associated with the color green.
The next representation of color is of gold, or yellow. Yellow represents idealism, vitality, and
gold, or wealth as well as cowardice, greed, and deceit ((Rohrer; Smith). The Green Knight s
attire was adorned with color, bright gold on silk broideries banded most richly (1207). The
saddle blanket of both the Green Knight s horse and Sir Gawain s horse was embellished with
gold trim. These detailings of gold represent vitality and wealth. The wealth of Bertilak s castle is
also seen in the description of the lavish surroundings, from the curtains with clear golden hems to
the tapestries hung on ropes with red gold rings (1223). The account of lavish surroundings may
also give the impression of greed as well as wealth.
The color yellow symbolizes idealism and

Cultural Assimilation Of Hispanic Immigrants
Cultural Assimilation of Latino Immigrants in the United States Latino immigrants have always
had many obstacles when coming into the United States, the difference between the American and
the Latin cultures is what has caused a huge hurdle that immigrants have found hard to overpass.
This obstacle has caused many generations to go through cultural assimilation. Mize et al. (2012)
explain that cultural assimilation is the adaptation of immigrants to unfamiliar cultural patterns,
which include language and the value systems of other cultures. In order for immigrants to be
successful in another country, which is not of their origin; they need to learn how to assimilate to
their new homes. Immigrants have learned that they need to adapt in order to get to experience new
opportunities and also to learn from new cultures that are not theirs (Mize et al., 2012). Immigrants
have learned that they are not leaving behind their own believes and norms, but mixing their norms,
this gives them the opportunity to create and mix their culture with the new. Cultural assimilation
can be hard to achieve because in one hand it is important to change in order to live within a
different culture, but on the other hand it is important for a person to maintain their identity
regardless of where they live. At times immigrants find it difficult to achieve a balance and for
many families it is a struggle over generations. There are different levels of assimilation, some
immigrants come to the

second chapter of Q A , we follow the story of Thomas s upbringing and how he was adopted by
priest, Father Timothy. Long story short, Father Thomas gets murdered by another priest, Father
John. How do you think this incident relates to the quote [if] you let the fear inside, if you pull it

Collusion in the NFL Essay
Collusion in the NFL
Contests in skill, strength and speed have occupied an important place in every culture
throughout the ages. The meaning of the term sport and the effect that sport has on society is
always changing. Sports have especially changed in the last two decades and can certainly be
evidence by the growing number of labor disputes and court cases involving all sports. Labor
relations did not play a dominant role in professional sports until the early 1970 s. Prior to unions
and collective bargaining, professional athletes were treated like privileged peons. Today sport is
more career and business than avocation and pastime. Today professional players pursue their
playing careers as businesses. And agents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, section 8(a) (5) states that It shall be an unfair labor practice for an employer to refuse
to bargain collectively with the representatives of his employees, subject to the provisions of
section 9(a) of the law. The National Labor Relations Board enforces the law by policing unfair
labor practices committed by either labor or management. The Board also reviews questions
concerning what issues are subject to negotiation under the law. The two most common allegations
of unfair labor practices are that the employer has disciplined or discharged players for engaging
in union activities and that the employer has refused to bargain in good faith. The collective
bargaining agreements reached in professional sports are not industrywide. Rather, there is a
separate one for baseball, football, etc. This makes bargaining in sports unique from other unions.
Also, the clubs bargain as a group with unions over certain aspects of wages, hours and working
conditions. However, the most important issue, individual salary, is negotiated between the club
and player. The National Labor Relations Actseeks to promote collective bargaining to resolve
employer and employee concerns. Because many agreements between labor and management
sometimes affect and/or restrain competition under the context of the Sherman Act of 1890, a

Iran, but Shia are also the majority in Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen . Today there are approximately
120 million Shia Muslims in the world.

leadership after the death of the Prophet Muhammad .The Shia maintain that the rightful successor
of the Prophet was his cousin and son in law, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term Shia is usually meant to be synonymous with the Jafaryia/Twelvers.
2.1 The Imams
The Imamate began with Ali, who is also accepted by Sunni Muslims as the fourth of the rightly
guided caliphs to succeed the Prophet. Shia s revere Ali as the First Imam, and his descendants,
beginning with his sons Hasan and Husain, continue the line of the Imams until the Twelfth, who is
believed to have ascended into a supernatural state to return to earth on judgment day.
Shias point to the close lifetime association of Muhammad with Ali. When Ali was six years old,
he was invited by the Prophet to live with him, and Shias believe Ali was the first person to make
the declaration of faith in Islam. Ali also slept in Muhammad s bed on the night of the hijra, or
migration from Mecca to Medina, when it was feared that the house would be attacked by
unbelievers and the Prophet stabbed to death. He fought in all the battles Muhammad did except
one, and the Prophet chose him to be the husband of his favorite daughter,

  • 2. Examples Of Operant Condition Operant condition Operant conditioning is based on the work of B. F. Skinner. Operant conditioning is a form of learning in which the motivation for a behavior happens after the behavior is demonstrated. There are four different types of operant conditioning 1 Postive reinforcement: add a stimulus: usually liked, an example for positive reinforcement having a job and going to work every day to receive a paycheck. 2 Negative reinforcement subtracts or reduces a stimulus: usually dislike. An example for Negative reinforcement you scold your child for running into the street in order to decrease the unsafe behavior. 3 Positive punishments that mean add a stimulus; usually disliked. I explained the rules to them, and I also gave them the rules and instruction sheet. They must do it to earn tokens. I decided to use token as a reward, after they collect the token they will use them to buy what they need, if they follow the rules .We have began the process immediately. I shared with them all the rules, and I also told them that I love them so much , but we have to work together to learn a good habit. For example if they need a toy cost five dollars, they must collect five token from me. I made a rules and instruction sheet. • 3. American Library Association Vs. Salinger s The Catcher... J.D. Salinger s, The Catcher in the Rye, holds the honor of appearing on Time magazine s 2010 list of the 100 best English language novels written since 1923 (Lacayo). In contrast, the American Library Association (ALA) notes that the novel also holds the dubious honor of being the tenth most challenged book in the United States from 1990 to 1999. In 2001, 2005, and 2009 the book again made the ALA top ten most frequently challenged book list (Banned and Challenged Books). In the light of this history, the question arises as to what makes The Catcher in the Rye so divisive? Ever since the novel first appeared in 1951, it has been challenged by critics who advocate removing it from high school curriculums. These opponents of the novel fear the profanityand perceived immorality of the central character, Holden Caulfield, will corrupt young adults. However, these harsh critics fail to recognize that The Catcher in the Rye offers young adults profound moral lessons penned with real world words they can identify with, and no person should be denied the right to read those words. Salinger s protagonist, Holden Caulfied, narrates his adventure with words that express all the angst, anger, and unpredictability of a typical seventeen year old. In his rants against society and phonies, Holden freely swears his way through his story. The profanities that flow from Holden s mouth are the everyday words often spoken by a young adult coming of age. As a result, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Psychology And The Legal System. Paper 1. With Recent... Psychology and the Legal System Paper 1With recent legislative issues making the news, one topic that has received a great deal of attention is that of indeterminate sentencing. This is the imposition of a sentence with no mandatory release date or set period of sentence to be served. Instead, one s sentence length is determined by the inmate s conduct while in prison. Upon successful completion of requirements the inmate may be returned to society, but it is possible that they will be kept behind bars for the remainder of his/her natural life. There are many issues that have come to light with indeterminate and determinate sentencing, such as how successful was the inmate? Is there really rehabilitation for sex offenders or drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem with indeterminate sentencing is that it often puts too much power into the hands of the parole board which then can lead to arbitrary and discriminatory results. It has been seen that minorities and prisoners without connections receive overly harsh decisions of the parole boards while less deserving offenders are being released early.(Portman, 2017) Even with some of the issues at hand indeterminate sentencing is making a comeback. This is now happening even more as our prisons are becoming overcrowded. In turn, allowing more room for judicial or parole board discretion. Prosecutors are exercising discretion when they decide which of many arrests to charge and for what particular crime. Juries exercise discretion in not convicting defendants who killed under circumstances that may have justified their actions. A jury may opt to exercise discretion when it deliberates the fate of the alleged perpetrator. Parole boards also have the opportunity to excise discretion when they decide whether to commute a death sentence to life imprisonment.(Greene, E., Heilbrun, K. 2014 pg. 10 11) This is being seen in many states where rehabilitation is available and viewed as a reasonable attainable outcome for offenders.Determinate sentencing began to spread widely during the 1970s and 1980s and is now the rule in many states. (Portman, 2017) In the late 1970s, a rising crime rate, concern over individual rights, and a distrust of the government in the wake of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Ritalin and Its Effects on Children Thesis: Today there is a great debate concerning the diagnosis and treatment of ADD/ADHD and who has the right to decide what happens. It is estimated that between 3 and 12 percent of the population has to deal with conditions known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This equals approximately 3 million children in the United States alone. Both of these disorders (ADD and ADHD) exhibit the same traits leading them to be lumped together. Children affected by ADD or ADHD have behavior and emotional problems. Trouble concentrating on simple tasks, a short attention span, failing to give attention to details, and disruptive behavior are a few of the problems resulting from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the specific gene or genes causing them have not been found despite the completion of the Human Genome Project. Technological advances have allowed for the discovery of new information though. These disorders can be acquired may different ways. One of these ways is before birth. The use of drugs, toxemia, infectious diseases, exposure to radiation, prematurity, and complicated delivery are all causes of this disorder originating during pregnancy and delivery. Post delivery causes include meningitis, encephalitis, seizures from fever, head injury, and lead toxicity. All of these conditions lead to damage to the brain (About ADD/ADHD). ADD and ADHD can also be looked at as developmental disorders. This is because some children seem to outgrow these conditions as they get older. These people were sometimes labeled underachievers when they were young, and now classified late bloomers since they have outgrown their disorders. Many drugs have been developed to treat ADD and ADHD. One of these drugs is Methylphenidate otherwise known as Ritalin. It is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for treatment of ADD and ADHD. Use of Ritalin is up 700 percent since 1990 (ABC News). Other drugs also used in treatment of ADD and ADHD include Zoloft, Praxil, and Cylert. • 6. Classic Coming of Age Stories in A White Heron by Sarah... Reading coming of age stories are always interesting and at times nastolgic. Coming of age stories typically include a young protagonist forced to make a grown decision which is a transition to their first move into adulthood. In a sense, these stories show the protagonist shifting from innocence to gaining experiences. The two coming of agestories that we read in class were A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewettand The Man Who Was Almost A Man by Richard Wright. Both being coming of age stories, they have similar features but were different in the sense that one protagonist seemed to have made a shift into adulthood whereas one did not. Starting of with A White Heron , the story starts with a mellow, quiet mood. Sylvia is walking in the woods with her companion, her cow. Jewett includes words and phrases such as childish patience and the little girl that makes the reader grasp the idea of Sylvia being a child. The fact that Sylvia hears the whistle of the stranger and hides also show the idea of her being a young child. The first day meeting the stranger, Sylvia seems reserved and not paying much attention to him talking about the white heron, even when he confesses to pay ten dollar for anyone who helps him find it. Soon enough, Sylvia develops a crush on the hunter. She does go in the woods with him for his needs to find the white heron but she does not disclose where the bird could be, it seemed as if she just wanted to enjoy his company. She said she was studying Aeromonas Salmonicida, a bacterium that causes diseases in salmon. She wanted me to use bioinformatics tools to learn about its ability to infect salmon. The goal was to determine if certain aspects of the bacterium could be modified or genetically engineered so the salmon s immune system would be able to respond more efficiently. I also heard about the experience of being homeless. Aberdeen gets very rainy and cold at night, so not having a place to stay is awful. The rain from that isn t drained gets all over the sidewalk and whoever has to walk there for just 10 minutes gets their shoes soggy and moist. Imagine walking around all day and sleeping all night in that! Being homeless also means it harder to afford find food. Hearing these stories from people I talked to every week made me want to do something about it. I ran for ASB of my high school and became the Senior Class President. I used my position to organize foodball, an event where two cities compete to raise the most resources for the Coastal Harvest. That is a food storage facility that donates to food banks across the State of Washington in times of emergency. The year I was running it the two cities competing were Hoquiam and Aberdeen. Even though the name was foodball, it wasn t just food we were collecting. It was also money to donate to and help raise resources for food banks, like socks, shoes, and shirts. I cleaned up after the events, dressed up as a mascot and danced to raise money for several events. I was even able to run an intercity dodgeball game. A game which Aberdeen won. Although Aberdeen didn t beat Hoquiam in the end, we managed to beat the amount of food raised last year. After foodball ended, I decided I wanted to do more. I became a deacon at my church and several times a month I help run the P.A., fix broken things around the church with my dad, and count and collect offering. • 9. Interview Dr. Marie Hobart Essay On Sunday October 23rd at midday I had the opportunity to interview Dr. Marie Hobart from Community Healthlink. For over twenty four years Dr. Marie Hobart has been an employee of Community Healthlink as a psychiatrist and for the last ten to twelve years as the Chief Medical Officer of CHL. She is also an employee of UMasss Memorial Healthcare, and a clinical associate professor of psychiatry. Dr. Hobart s work with CHL focuses on people with serious and persistent illness, developmental disabilities, and addiction and her goal in addition to helping patients one on one is to help create a system of care for people who are traditionally not able to access care in other ways (Hobart). Dr. Hobart explained that she always wanted to work in health, and working with people in the community leading her to become a public psychiatrist in the city of Worcester, Massachusetts. As Dr. Hobart works in the Worcester public healthsector as both a practicing physician and an administrator, her dual roles create a unique position as an agent of direct community support and an advocate for changes to the public medical system. Dr. Hobart is a medically focused community organizer and her work is most easily tied to the Women Centered model of community development (Stall, Stoecker; 202). Her desire to see greater connections between medical assistance and social aid, as well as, her work that recognizes the social factors that lead to health problems illustrates how she is an ... It is widely thought that with age, comes more knowledge, and a better understanding of the world. However, this thinking can t be used as a broad statement for entire generations of people. While there certainly are older people that are much wiser than younger people, this fact doesn t mean that younger generations as a whole are dumb. With the knowledge and discoveries made by previous generations at the disposal of younger generation s, the youngpeople of today are smarter than ever. People claim that new developments have caused kids to be so dependent on their devices, that they can t think for themselves. This claim can also be turned around by saying that technology has given kids more opportunities and chances to learn, and in particular, more opportunities to write (Source 7, Clive Thompson). An example of this is a study done at Stanford University, where it was discovered that Stanford students did a stunning 38 percent of their writing outside of the classroom (Source 7, Clive Thompson). With the developments of E mail, texting, and social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, younger people are constantly writing in their every day lives. In the past, people would, for the most part, stop writing once the finishes their education. Now however, people are more comfortable, and more used to, writing. And while the argument that technology has decreased level of the vocabulary and vernacular of young people is true in some cases, the increase in writing shown by young people has led to a greater ability to convey information to other people, and a greater comfort in talking to people they don t know (Source 7, Clive Thompson). • 11. The New Class Of Anti Diabetic Drugs Abstract Glitazones are the new class of anti diabetic drugs that are the first to be able to manage glycaemia goals. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn from the market by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone were introduced in 1999 as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is under black box warning for increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a nutshell as the drug required more investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in the future. Introduction Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in 1950s the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of glitazone or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14). Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor Оі (PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The PPAR Оі controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every year video games advance to becoming more realistics in all of their aspects. It is said that the fictional acts in video games are causing real life criminal actions, and in result the media is posting blame to them. Video games are one of the most argumentative cause to criminal acts or aggressive acts in youth. According to Videogames.procon.org, Video games have been pinpointed to being the lead cause to the Sandy Hook and Columbine shooting. News outlets bring up the fact violent video games in almost any criminal act committed by youth. Instead of diving into research and developing facts and supported evidence; reporters find using the easier route to be best. They just simply blame it on something else, and in this case violent video games. So, the question to be answered is do violent video games contribute to such criminal actions in youth? The more risk one takes, the more he or she stands to lose or gain. One cannot expect high returns without taking substantial risks. The outcomes are thrown open to uncertainty. In general, when we talk about risk, we focus on financial risk. In financial terms, it is the risk that a company or individual could lose some or all of the original investment, possibly resulting in inadequate cash flow to meet financial obligations. Many of the loans had turned into toxic assets as borrowers failed to meet repayments. Similar to Northern Rock, the banks continued to give loans in this manner as they too chose to securitize their loans because this method of trading appeared so profitable. This was a highly successful mechanism to operate until the number of defaulters increased to the point where these assets began to turn illiquid. Investors started to avoid securities as it was now evident many were flawed. Moreover, Northern Rock in their quest for greater financial returns found securities that attractive they also invested in them. With trading slowing in the financial markets, many institutions began to react to the impending crisis by taking a more cautious approach to lending. In comparison Northern Rock were so focused on returning profits and generating growth that, at a time when monetary policy was tightening faster than expected, the bank had agreed to issue a tranche of mortgages at interest rates that were lower than those it had to eventually pay in the markets to finance them (The Economist, 2007, Lessons of the fall, 20/10/2007). What was it that caused the transition from Neolithic life to civilization? What were some of the major features of those civilizations that you found interesting? One of the most interesting features of ancient civilizations was the extent to which topography influenced cultural worldviews and practices. For example, in the case of the Sumerians, they possessed a highly evolved and complex culture, as manifested in the philosophical depth of their Epic of Gilgamesh. However, the openness of the land in which they lived to invaders made them vulnerable as did the propensity of the land to catastrophic flooding. This may be one of the reasons why they did not create as politically and architecturally complex a society as Egypt or Greece. It also likely affected the relatively dark worldview expressed in Gilgamesh. However, despite the susceptibility to invasions, subsequent civilizations in the area, like the Babylonians, created ways of tracking the stars and other valuable methods of observing and interpreting the world in a scientific fashion that were to become the building blocks of modern civilizationin other areas. • 36. Stigmata And Religion Today we will be breaking down the religious aspects in the 1999 supernatural horror film Stigmata. It is one of my favorite movies because of the allure and how it tried to give a different take on religion. It was one of the first of its kind to explore the concept of Stigmata and in a different light that was seen highly offensive to Catholics which is where the concept of Stigmata comes from, which is the Roman Church. To some Catholics stigmata is a sign of holiness, so in theory, there is no reason for an atheist to bare the marks of Jesus. While the movie was amazing to someone like me because I am a secular humanist and just enjoyed the movie for it being a movie, stigmata lacks a lot of true connection to how stigmata actually works in terms of how Catholics view it.... Cultural Assimilation Of Hispanic Immigrants Cultural Assimilation of Latino Immigrants in the United States Latino immigrants have always had many obstacles when coming into the United States, the difference between the American and the Latin cultures is what has caused a huge hurdle that immigrants have found hard to overpass. This obstacle has caused many generations to go through cultural assimilation. Mize et al. (2012) explain that cultural assimilation is the adaptation of immigrants to unfamiliar cultural patterns, which include language and the value systems of other cultures. In order for immigrants to be successful in another country, which is not of their origin; they need to learn how to assimilate to their new homes. Immigrants have learned that they need to adapt in order to get to experience new opportunities and also to learn from new cultures that are not theirs (Mize et al., 2012). Immigrants have learned that they are not leaving behind their own believes and norms, but mixing their norms, this gives them the opportunity to create and mix their culture with the new. Cultural assimilation can be hard to achieve because in one hand it is important to change in order to live within a different culture, but on the other hand it is important for a person to maintain their identity regardless of where they live. The Board also reviews questions concerning what issues are subject to negotiation under the law. The two most common allegations of unfair labor practices are that the employer has disciplined or discharged players for engaging in union activities and that the employer has refused to bargain in good faith.
