INTRODUCTION
In Viet Nam, the profession of translator has become more and more important
because in the context of integration with the world, Vietnam has become an
official member of the WTO. The center for labor demand and labor market
information under the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho
Chi Minh City, said that in the 2017-2025 period, HCM City needs 270,000 to
300,000 human resources (of which 130,000 new job). The demand for human
resources in the social sciences sector accounts for 2% of the total, of which about
1,000 are needed.
This demand is not much in quantity but an important profession. This is also a high
income job with an average salary of 10-15 million per month. At the conference,
high-level negotiation, the salary is calculated in hours from several hundred dollars
or more. With some less common languages such as German, Italian ... the salary is
higher.
A simple interpretation is the transfer of a word, a sentence, a text (say or write)
from one language to another without changing their meaning. And, of course,
translators are professionals who translate texts (say or write) from one language
into another, so that people who do not share a language can understand each other.
Based on two basic types of human communication (speaking and writing), the
universities divide the translation work into two forms: interpreter and translator.
The universities also focus on training of four language skills , sepeacially
(speaking and writing. Translation and interpretion tasks will help students after
graduation and practice will find good jobs with high income. Thus, internship
plays an important role in improving fresh graduates’ skills before working.

PART 1: GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE INTERNSHIP SITE
1. General introduction about Sao Nam Viet company

2 Structural Organization of Translation and Interpretation Office
Translation and interpretation services of Sao Nam Viet are carried out by the
team of translators and interpreters, high skill and qualified translators, language
proficiency specialists. Sao Nam Viet’s translation team has successfully

partners in various fields ranging from economics, politics, culture and society to

The head of Translation and Interpretation Office is a manager. He manages
three divisions including translation and interpretation, as well as HR &
Administration department.
3. Translation team
Translation is Important Because Not Everyone Speaks English. There’s a
reason demand for translation services is booming. While English has been
periodically crowned as “the language of global business,” translation and
interpreting services remain a vital part of doing business.
As a translator, the staff converts written material from one or more 'source
languages' into the 'target language', making sure that the translated version conveys
the meaning of the original as clearly as possible. The target language is normally
their mother tongue.
The staff can translate a variety of content, including: commercial,
educational, legal, literary, scientific, and technical documents.
The team will need to read through original material and rewrite it in the
target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained. They can
use translation memory software, such as Wordfast, memoQ, Across, SDL Trados

and Transit NXT, to ensure consistency of translation within documents and help
efficiency. They also use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to
find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used, as well as appropriate
software for presentation and delivery. Moreover, the team also liaises with clients
to discuss any unclear points, then proofreads and edits final translated versions.
The team leader is in charge of researching legal, technical and scientific
phraseology to find the correct translation. As well as providing quotations for
translation services offered. He is also the key person that helps consult with experts
in specialist areas. In addition the team leader retains and develops knowledge on
specialist areas of translation. At last, he follows various translation-quality
standards to ensure legal and ethical obligations to the customer.

PART 2: DESCRIPTION ABOUT STUDENT’S INTERNSHIP
2.1 General introduction about internship
2.1.1. Translation
2.1.1.1.Determine the type of ways of Telegraphic transfers (TT),
When receiving sales contracts or orders,.. with the payment term of TT, The
translator needs to ask for ways and money to transfer to partners such as:
(1) TT 100% in advance
(2) TT 100% after the shipment
(3) TT 100% against the import export documents
(4) TT 30% in advance and 70% within 3 days before the shipment.
(5) TT 30% in advance and 70% within 3 days after the shipment.
 Step 2: Focus on the most important words are that:
 In advance in (1) means Trước
 After in (2) means Sau
 Against in (3) means Ngay khi
 Before in (4) means Trước
 Within in (5) means Trong vòng
These key words are very important that have effect on the ways, the time
and the amount of mounts the consignee pays to the consignor.
 Step 3: Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this
translation.
Firstly, the student has to understand correct requirement from senders. In
case the translator has no very clear requirement of translation. The student cannot
use exact words described in this terms according to international payment
regulations.
Secondly, check the mistake from the script. In case there are some mistakes,
the problems will happen to both buyer and seller.

2.1.1.2. Translation Process of Letter of Credit.( L/C)
 Step 1: Determine the types of L/C
There are many kinds of L/C
(1) Irrevocable LC.
(2) Irrevocable LC at sight
(3) Irrevocable LC after sight
(4) Revocable LC.
(5) Stand-by LC.
(6) Confirmed LC.
(7) Unconfirmed LC.
(8) Transferable LC.
(9) Back-to-Back LC.
(10) Payment at Sight LC..
When receiving sales contracts or orders,... with the payment term of L/C, The
student needs to find out exact kinds of L/C which senders want to translate. In case
translator choose wrong kinds of L/C, there will be the big problem impacting on
both of consignees and consignor. The problems is about time of payment,
capability of being revoked or canceled,.....
 Step 2: Focus on the most important words are that:
 Irrevocable in (1) means không thể hủy ngang
 At sight in (2) means trả ngay
 after sight in (3) means trả sau (bao nhiêu ngày)
 Revocable in (4) means có thể hủy ngang
 Stand-by in (5) means dự phòng
 Confirmed in (6) means xác nhận
 Unconfirmed in (7) means không xác nhận
 Transferable in (8) means chuyển nhượng
 Back-to-Back in (9) means giáp lưng

These key words are crucial important because every L/C has different terms
and conditions from others.
For example:
An irrevocable letter of credit is a financial instrument used by banks to
guarantee a buyer's obligations to a seller. It is irrevocable because the letter of
credit cannot be modified unless all parties agree to the modifications. It means that
one partner cannot cancel this L/C if there is no agreement from other partner.
While irrevocable A revocable letter of credit can be changed or cancelled
by the bank that issued it at any time and for any reason; or cancelled by the
partners in case they do not want to buy or sell products any more.
 Step 3: Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this
translation.
The staff have to understand clearly about these L/Cs becuase there are many
types of L/Cs and they are also very comlicated about their terms and conditions.
Moreover, L/C is compulsory, so the translator should check meaning of all
terms and condition carefully, if no, there will be risky for the company.
Secondly, check the mistake from the drafts before issuing the originals. In
case there are some mistakes, The buyer have the right to refuse payment, or it cost
us some money for discrepancies.
2.1.1.3.Translation Process of Documentary Collection
 Step 1: Determine the type of Documentary Collection
When receiving sales contracts or orders,.. with the payment term of
Documents against Payment, The translator needs to know which one the senders
want to use DP or DAP because there are some kinds of Documentary Collection
such as:
i. Documents against Acceptance (DA)
ii. Documents against Payment (DP) at 90 days sight
iii. Documents against Payment (DP) at 150 days bill of lading date

 Step 2: Focus on the most important words are that:
 against in (i.) means ngay khi
 Acceptance in (i.) means chấp nhận
 at 90 days sight in (ii.) means Sau 90 ngày
 at 150 days bill of lading date in (iii.) means sau 150 kể từ ngày
phát hành vận tải đơn
These key words are very important that have effect on the time in which the
consignee pays to the consignor.
 Step 3: Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this
translation.
The student has to distinguish between DA and DP to make sure that the
translation will be correct as senders’ requirement.
Both DA and DP are the terms of payment related to acceptance of shipping
documents pertaining to each consignment from buyer’s bank. Under a DA terms of
payment, importer accepts documents on the basis of an assurance to effect payment
by accepting necessary bill of exchange. The importer collects shipping documents
required to take delivery of imported goods from his bank after such assurance on
payment at mutually agreed maturity date of payment.
In a DP payment terms, the imported need to effect payment against
respective import consignment, before collecting documents for delivery of
imported goods. Under a payment terms – Documents against Payments, the bank
delivers documents required for import clearance only after receiving the value of
goods from the importer. The buyer takes delivery of goods with the original
transport document of title delivered by his bank after effecting payment under sale
of goods mentioned in the document. The buyer’s bank in turn, sends the said
amount to seller’s bank as per banking procedures and formalities under
international trade. By the way, the translator should check grammar and the use of
words in this payment.

2.1.2. Interpretation
Interpretation is a profession that requires constant cultivation. Besides
attractiveness, this is a job that requires a lot of skill and knowledge. The challenge
will not be small.
Due to graduation and lack of experience, students can not immediately
become an expert translator, but students know how to prepare knowledge before
each translation, so students have passed the first time with the best results. The first
challenge of translating is that students must always be careful about what they need
to translate because no one can understand all the knowledge.
2.1.2.1.Translated for the cheap Australian wedding
Marriage with foreigners is the choice of many Vietnamese girls. The
cultural barriers and language barriers have been the difficulties of thousands of
Vietnamese brides. They came to the company to use the Interpreting Service for
wedding and other related activities such as filming, filming, wedding and
communication.
The student is the bridge to help the Australian groom communicate seamlessly.
However, the student always perceive that a communication is considered
successful when the communicators understand the content of the communication,
feel the attitude, the attitude of the communicator ... to have the behavior , the next
communication in a manner consistent with the culture of the foreigners ... the job
of the interpreter is not merely interpreting or translating, but also expressing and
show the nuances of communication in the shortest time, especially the culture of
foreigners.
2.1.2.2.Basic qualities of an interpreter to complete work
Firstly, the student must be good at language skills and proficiency in the
mother tongue, as well as the necessary knowledge of culture, language, economics,

politics, habits, geography, and job skills. These are the first requirements and
number one.
Secondly, Students need good memory, quick reflexes, flexible situations
handling, and good judgment. Listening to a long paragraph and translating is not
easy, listening and translating immediately is harder, students need memory to
remember what has been heard and the ability to judge, and also need to be flexible.
Be more active in unexpected situations.
Thirdly, Students need to be able to organize good work, This is very important.
Work schedules should not be too dense, take the appropriate preparation time,
contact the requesting party for more information- necessary documents, their own
requirements or to know the exact time - know the job. Moreover, the student must
take the initiative in front of the audience if conditions are available to get familiar
with their language style, pronunciation ...
Fourthly, Students need to be thoughtful, responsible in work and in the market.
As hundreds of other occupations, interpreters need to always be attentive, check
every detail before entering and when to take the job, should have the responsibility
to come along and always learn to improve knowledge.
2.1.2.3.Occupational accident
Occupational accidets are unavoidable in all occupations, but occupational
accidents in the fruit industry are unpredictable, difficult to handle, uncomfortable
and often miserable. Casual accidents in translation as:
Interpreters are interrupted by listeners to correct incorrectly translated
information. This situation occurs most often, many speakers and listeners are
fluent in foreign languages, still have to use interpreters as required by the work and
if translated wrongly, do not kill, borring ... the student can be stopped. And
reminders in a friendly or unpleasant way ... In all circumstances, if the student has
not been kicked out, the interpreter needs to calm down and be more careful;

The interpreter is recommended for the reasons such as poor translation, too
audible voice, style, attitude, dress .. No other way is how embarrassing, how
frustrating, the student must still be happy to accept the ethics of the profession.
Thus, interpreter must check the work before and prepare well, that is the lesson to
draw;
The interpreter must cancel the translation due to subjective errors: sickness,
unexpected accidents, forgetting preparation materials ...
Moreover, a future interpreter will find no shortage of types of accidents, "face
loss", "brand" is severely affected, "image" is devastated ... the consequences of the
accident job.
2.2 Rationales of choosing topic
International business is activity of all companies in over the world that has
increased outstandingly during the last part of the twentieth century, thanks to the
liberalization of trade and investment and the development of technology. Global
competition has effects nearly on every company. Many source suppliers from
foreign countries and still more take part in competing products or services that
originate abroad. International business stays a all-embracing concept that includes
the smallest companies only exporting or importing with one other nations, as well
as the largest global corporation with integrated operations and strategic unions
around the globe.
Besides, the cultural environment of a foreign countries remains an important
element of the international business environment, yet it is one of the most difficult
to understand. The cultural environment of a foreign country includes frequently
shared beliefs and values which established by components such as religion, history,
language, geographic location, government, and education. Especially, Fluent
speaking skills and writing skills occupy an important role in fastening good
employment opportunities with profitable pay combination. Most national and
international companies use English as a mean of communication for all official and

legal matters. Competent knowledge of the language accommodates in the
mellifluous conduct of operations, such as regular exchange of emails, presentations,
and sales and marketing.
Moreover, Translation and interpreting are crucial job which occupy an important
role in global business. It smartens communication by imparting information
reliably from one language to another in different nations across the world. The
translation and interpreting provide different services. Interpreters deal with verbal
communication while translators deal with written communication. Role of
interpreting and translation in global business provide all companies with services
in a number of business areas, and they specialise in specific fields. That is the
crucial reason that “Translation Of Payment Terms In The International Business
Contract” is chosen to study.

3.1 Job description
Students practice two main contents of the translation & interpretation office at the
company, which is interpreting and translating: Translation Process of Telegraphic
Transfers, Determine the type of ways of Telegraphic transfers (TT), Focus on the
most important words, Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this
translation.Translation Process of Letter of Credit.( L/C, Check mistakes and the
meaning of the words used in this translation.Translation Process of Documentary
Collection, Determine the type of Documentary Collection, Check mistakes and the
meaning of the words used in this translation.
3.2 Working schedules
 I worked as a translator in the company during my internship period which
lasted for six weeks.
 I was given for the following tasks:
- Cleaning the office
- Delivering documents to customers
- Welcoming customers
- Translating documents of many fields such as law, economics, education, etc.
- Checking for mistakes in translated documents.
- Helping supervisor to search for necessary information about the documents
on the Internet
 My working time was 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday, 8 hours a
day as follows:
- In the morning: 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM
- In the afternoon: 1:30 PM – 5h30 PM

about the company and cleaning the office, I enhanced my vocabulary in many
fields, learned to use new functions in MS Word as well as getting familiar with
some kinds of form. Although I made some mistakes, the managers were ready to
guide me by a friendliness and heartiness that helped me realize my defects to
improve instantly. I wished I could do better in the future.

Description: The second week seemed to be a little bit easier for me. I gradually
adapted with the pace of work and got more confident than in the first week. I
encountered many new tasks such as delivering documents and working as a
customer care staff, but they were not as difficult as I thought before. In addition,
the supervisor and other trainees shared a lot of their knowledge with me, they
taught me plenty of new things that I had never known before. All of those
happened things really made me feel excited and satisfied, and they also gave me
the motivation to continue to the next weeks.

Description: Another week passed and I tried so hard this week. The result was that
not only my knowledge but my skills were also enhanced. The formal forms such as
ID card, birth certificate or school record were no longer the problems to me
anymore. I also encountered some rare documents such as Korea certificate of
notary, which really improved my understanding about specialized files. Moreover,
I continued to learn new abbreviated words and medicine terms, but the most
exciting task was the wine menu. From this menu, I could study how to describe
foods and drinks in an exquisite way like a cuisine master. On the other hand, the
experience I got from the supervisor was very useful, I felt that it will probably be
more applicable in the future.

Description: I felt that I did better in this fourth week. This week, I encountered
more documents I have never seen before such as Australia certificate of enrollment
and admission letter. In addition, I also enhanced my vocabulary and knowledge in
the fields of law and education. I really satisfied with our completed works,
especially the law document, which I and other translators had to try our best to
finish before the deadline. On the other hand, I learned to keep calm when facing
the stress from overworking. But from a different point of view, the overworking

gave me more experience about how to control myself, distribute the works and
finish them on time.

Description: I could still keep up with the pace of work after two-week-vacation of
Lunar New Year. The demand of customers was really high in this period of time.
As a result, all of translators in the company had to work with full potential.
Although the jobs of this week were a little bit difficult to solve, we could handle
them all. From this week on, I was in charge of translating school records,
certificates of marriage, household books and designing brochures. On the other
hand, my vocabulary about the subjects in university had been widened. I could

translate almost comments of the teachers in school records without any help from
other translators. Moreover, I did less mistakes in checking documents, so the time
to finish them was getting shorter and shorter. In my point of view, I really satisfied
with what I had achieved this week.

3.3 Summary
This is the last week of my internship. In this week, I continued to hone my skills I
have learnt so far. After getting through six weeks working as a trainee, I realized
that the internship period was not too difficult as I thought before. Thanks to this
time, not only I could gain more precious knowledge, I also got a lot of
unforgettable experience together with my colleagues. Although there were some
times I felt very tired because of overworking, I still wanted to spend more time

challenging myself with this job.
In summary, I wanted to show my deepest gratefulness to everybody at Sao
Nam Viet company. I wished them a good health, happiness and success in the
future.

PART 4: FURTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR INTERNSHIP SITE
AND UNIVERSITY
4.1.For Sao Nam Viet
The company should set up English clubs for all staffs to make sure that they
can improve their communication by English because they are not very good at
communication skill, especially English skills. Team members and upper
management should focus on improving their speaking skill because English is the
key language that they use at workplace every day.
Moreover, the staffs should be motivated and feel valued when they're given
positive reinforcement and shown how their work contributes to the success of Sao
Nam Viet. This means offering employees specific feedback on how their work is
feeding into the broader business objectives.
4.2. For University
After experiencing an internship, I highly suggest main recommendations to
the university that the university should offer an internship class while students are
in learning process. The class is a great opportunity for these young men and
women to enhance their skills and talk about what they experienced so they all can
learn from what each individual is going through.
4.3. Conclusion
The purpose of the internship is to help students to enter the real world. In
addition, internships help students improve their roles and responsibilities in the
industry they are pursuing, as well as gain access to and familiarize themselves with
the jobs they are currently involved in. Since then, students have improved their
professional skills and soft skills. It gives students real-world experience
This placement gives students access to the careers they have chosen when they
enter university. Practical activities once again help students understand how they
will work after graduation and make timely adjustments, along with a more

appropriate training strategy. The application of knowledge learned in the school to
the reality of work helps students recognize their strengths and weaknesses and
need to equip more knowledge and skills to meet the needs of work. In fact, the
curriculum provides a theoretical and useful theoretical framework for the discipline
and necessarily needs to be applied in real life to specific audiences and
occupational environments. As a result, the internships are becoming increasingly
important to the students. These early experiences help students become more
confident after graduation and find a job, which will help them not be so illogical as
to make them disappointed in the reality when they actually enter the labour market.
During the internship, the student can establish relationships in their careers, which
is very useful for students when they graduate. With good practice, the students also
has the opportunity to earn a job right during the internship.

  • 5. 1 INTRODUCTION In Viet Nam, the profession of translator has become more and more important because in the context of integration with the world, Vietnam has become an official member of the WTO. The center for labor demand and labor market information under the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in the 2017-2025 period, HCM City needs 270,000 to 300,000 human resources (of which 130,000 new job). The demand for human resources in the social sciences sector accounts for 2% of the total, of which about 1,000 are needed. This demand is not much in quantity but an important profession. This is also a high income job with an average salary of 10-15 million per month. At the conference, high-level negotiation, the salary is calculated in hours from several hundred dollars or more. With some less common languages such as German, Italian ... the salary is higher. A simple interpretation is the transfer of a word, a sentence, a text (say or write) from one language to another without changing their meaning. And, of course, translators are professionals who translate texts (say or write) from one language into another, so that people who do not share a language can understand each other. Based on two basic types of human communication (speaking and writing), the universities divide the translation work into two forms: interpreter and translator. The universities also focus on training of four language skills , sepeacially (speaking and writing. Translation and interpretion tasks will help students after graduation and practice will find good jobs with high income. Thus, internship plays an important role in improving fresh graduates’ skills before working.

He manages three divisions including translation and interpretation, as well as HR & Administration department. 3. Translation team Translation is Important Because Not Everyone Speaks English. There’s a reason demand for translation services is booming. While English has been periodically crowned as “the language of global business,” translation and interpreting services remain a vital part of doing business. As a translator, the staff converts written material from one or more 'source languages' into the 'target language', making sure that the translated version conveys the meaning of the original as clearly as possible. The target language is normally their mother tongue. The staff can translate a variety of content, including: commercial, educational, legal, literary, scientific, and technical documents. The team will need to read through original material and rewrite it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained. The team leader is in charge of researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation. As well as providing quotations for translation services offered.   • 10. 6 PART 2: DESCRIPTION ABOUT STUDENT’S INTERNSHIP 2.1 General introduction about internship 2.1.1. Translation 2.1.1.1.Determine the type of ways of Telegraphic transfers (TT), When receiving sales contracts or orders,.. with the payment term of TT, The translator needs to ask for ways and money to transfer to partners such as: (1) TT 100% in advance (2) TT 100% after the shipment (3) TT 100% against the import export documents (4) TT 30% in advance and 70% within 3 days before the shipment. (5) TT 30% in advance and 70% within 3 days after the shipment.  Step 2: Focus on the most important words are that:  In advance in (1) means Trước  After in (2) means Sau  Against in (3) means Ngay khi  Before in (4) means Trước  Within in (5) means Trong vòng These key words are very important that have effect on the ways, the time and the amount of mounts the consignee pays to the consignor.  Step 3: Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this translation. Firstly, the student has to understand correct requirement from senders. In case the translator has no very clear requirement of translation. The student cannot use exact words described in this terms according to international payment regulations. Secondly, check the mistake from the script. In case there are some mistakes, the problems will happen to both buyer and seller.
  • 11. 7 2.1.1.2. Translation Process of Letter of Credit.( L/C)  Step 1: Determine the types of L/C There are many kinds of L/C (1) Irrevocable LC. (2) Irrevocable LC at sight (3) Irrevocable LC after sight (4) Revocable LC. (5) Stand-by LC. (6) Confirmed LC. (7) Unconfirmed LC. (8) Transferable LC. (9) Back-to-Back LC. (10) Payment at Sight LC.. When receiving sales contracts or orders,... with the payment term of L/C, The student needs to find out exact kinds of L/C which senders want to translate. In case translator choose wrong kinds of L/C, there will be the big problem impacting on both of consignees and consignor. The problems is about time of payment, capability of being revoked or canceled,.....  Step 2: Focus on the most important words are that:  Irrevocable in (1) means không thể hủy ngang  At sight in (2) means trả ngay  after sight in (3) means trả sau (bao nhiêu ngày)  Revocable in (4) means có thể hủy ngang  Stand-by in (5) means dự phòng  Confirmed in (6) means xác nhận  Unconfirmed in (7) means không xác nhận  Transferable in (8) means chuyển nhượng  Back-to-Back in (9) means giáp lưng
  • 12. 8 These key words are crucial important because every L/C has different terms and conditions from others. For example: An irrevocable letter of credit is a financial instrument used by banks to guarantee a buyer's obligations to a seller. It is irrevocable because the letter of credit cannot be modified unless all parties agree to the modifications. It means that one partner cannot cancel this L/C if there is no agreement from other partner. While irrevocable A revocable letter of credit can be changed or cancelled by the bank that issued it at any time and for any reason; or cancelled by the partners in case they do not want to buy or sell products any more.  Step 3: Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this translation. The staff have to understand clearly about these L/Cs becuase there are many types of L/Cs and they are also very comlicated about their terms and conditions. Moreover, L/C is compulsory, so the translator should check meaning of all terms and condition carefully, if no, there will be risky for the company. Secondly, check the mistake from the drafts before issuing the originals. In case there are some mistakes, The buyer have the right to refuse payment, or it cost us some money for discrepancies. 2.1.1.3.Translation Process of Documentary Collection  Step 1: Determine the type of Documentary Collection When receiving sales contracts or orders,.. with the payment term of Documents against Payment, The translator needs to know which one the senders want to use DP or DAP because there are some kinds of Documentary Collection such as: i. Documents against Acceptance (DA) ii. Documents against Payment (DP) at 90 days sight iii. Documents against Payment (DP) at 150 days bill of lading date
  • 13. 9  Step 2: Focus on the most important words are that:  against in (i.) means ngay khi  Acceptance in (i.) means chấp nhận  at 90 days sight in (ii.) means Sau 90 ngày  at 150 days bill of lading date in (iii.) means sau 150 kể từ ngày phát hành vận tải đơn These key words are very important that have effect on the time in which the consignee pays to the consignor.  Step 3: Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this translation. The student has to distinguish between DA and DP to make sure that the translation will be correct as senders’ requirement. Both DA and DP are the terms of payment related to acceptance of shipping documents pertaining to each consignment from buyer’s bank. Under a DA terms of payment, importer accepts documents on the basis of an assurance to effect payment by accepting necessary bill of exchange. The importer collects shipping documents required to take delivery of imported goods from his bank after such assurance on payment at mutually agreed maturity date of payment. In a DP payment terms, the imported need to effect payment against respective import consignment, before collecting documents for delivery of imported goods. Under a payment terms – Documents against Payments, the bank delivers documents required for import clearance only after receiving the value of goods from the importer. The buyer takes delivery of goods with the original transport document of title delivered by his bank after effecting payment under sale of goods mentioned in the document. The buyer’s bank in turn, sends the said amount to seller’s bank as per banking procedures and formalities under international trade. By the way, the translator should check grammar and the use of words in this payment.
  • 14. 10 2.1.2. Interpretation Interpretation is a profession that requires constant cultivation. Besides attractiveness, this is a job that requires a lot of skill and knowledge. The challenge will not be small. Due to graduation and lack of experience, students can not immediately become an expert translator, but students know how to prepare knowledge before each translation, so students have passed the first time with the best results. The first challenge of translating is that students must always be careful about what they need to translate because no one can understand all the knowledge. 2.1.2.1.Translated for the cheap Australian wedding Marriage with foreigners is the choice of many Vietnamese girls. Secondly, Students need good memory, quick reflexes, flexible situations handling, and good judgment. Listening to a long paragraph and translating is not easy, listening and translating immediately is harder, students need memory to remember what has been heard and the ability to judge, and also need to be flexible. Be more active in unexpected situations. Thirdly, Students need to be able to organize good work, This is very important. Work schedules should not be too dense, take the appropriate preparation time, contact the requesting party for more information- necessary documents, their own requirements or to know the exact time - know the job. Moreover, the student must take the initiative in front of the audience if conditions are available to get familiar with their language style, pronunciation ... Fourthly, Students need to be thoughtful, responsible in work and in the market. As hundreds of other occupations, interpreters need to always be attentive, check every detail before entering and when to take the job, should have the responsibility to come along and always learn to improve knowledge. 2.1.2.3.Occupational accident Occupational accidets are unavoidable in all occupations, but occupational accidents in the fruit industry are unpredictable, difficult to handle, uncomfortable and often miserable. Casual accidents in translation as: Interpreters are interrupted by listeners to correct incorrectly translated information. This situation occurs most often, many speakers and listeners are fluent in foreign languages, still have to use interpreters as required by the work and if translated wrongly, do not kill, borring ... the student can be stopped. And reminders in a friendly or unpleasant way ... In all circumstances, if the student has not been kicked out, the interpreter needs to calm down and be more careful;

No other way is how embarrassing, how frustrating, the student must still be happy to accept the ethics of the profession. Thus, interpreter must check the work before and prepare well, that is the lesson to draw; The interpreter must cancel the translation due to subjective errors: sickness, unexpected accidents, forgetting preparation materials ...   • 18. 14 PART 3: PERSONAL EXPERIENCE FROM INTERNSHIP 3.1 Job description Students practice two main contents of the translation & interpretation office at the company, which is interpreting and translating: Translation Process of Telegraphic Transfers, Determine the type of ways of Telegraphic transfers (TT), Focus on the most important words, Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this translation.Translation Process of Letter of Credit.( L/C, Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this translation.Translation Process of Documentary Collection, Determine the type of Documentary Collection, Check mistakes and the meaning of the words used in this translation. 3.2 Working schedules  I worked as a translator in the company during my internship period which lasted for six weeks.  I was given for the following tasks: - Cleaning the office - Delivering documents to customers - Welcoming customers - Translating documents of many fields such as law, economics, education, etc. - Checking for mistakes in translated documents. - Helping supervisor to search for necessary information about the documents on the Internet  My working time was 6 days a week from Monday to Saturday, 8 hours a day as follows: - In the morning: 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM - In the afternoon: 1:30 PM – 5h30 PM

Wednesday ( June 17th , 2019) - Translated certification on medical technology - Translated simple curriculum and packing list - I got familiar with new words in the field of medicine. - I knew more about many forms of letter such as curriculum vitae and item list. Thursday ( June 18th , 2019) - Translated school record and business registration certificate - Checked for mistakes in translated documents. - Welcomed customer - I enhanced my vocabulary in education. - I improved my ability in mistake checking. - I was better in completing the school record.
  • 20. 16 Friday ( June 19th , 2019) - Translated driver’s license and certificate of origin/processing - Translated a menu for a restaurant - The certificate of origin/processing took me a lot of time to complete, maybe it was because of the abbreviated words. - I enhanced my knowledge about dishes and cuisine. Saturday ( June 20th , 2019) - Learned more about the abbreviation of company names - Translated saving book - Set a working plan for next week - I enhanced vocabulary in the field of finance. - I also practiced organizing skill in the order of priority. Description: In my first week of internship, I was so excited and expected to learn and properly perform my tasks as well as be flexible in order to meet the different needs of the company. During the first week, besides simple tasks such as learning about the company and cleaning the office, I enhanced my vocabulary in many fields, learned to use new functions in MS Word as well as getting familiar with some kinds of form. Although I made some mistakes, the managers were ready to guide me by a friendliness and heartiness that helped me realize my defects to improve instantly. I wished I could do better in the future. Tuesday ( June 23rd , 2019) - Translated a restaurant receipt - Checked for mistakes in translated documents which were certificate of land use right and decision on refund of personal income tax - I improved my knowledge about Vietnamese cuisine as well as law. - I encountered many new documents such as decision on refund of personal income tax. Wednesday ( June 24th , 2019) - Checked for mistakes in a certificate of land use right - Designed and translated certificate of death as well as certificate of quality and quantity - Working many times with available forms granted me the ability to finish checking documents in shorter time. - Although the certificate of death was a really challenge to me, I still completed it on time. Thursday ( June 25th , 2019) - Delivered documents to customers - Helped supervisor to translate a small part of a technological documents about communication - Despite some disadvantages, I still delivered documents on time. - I got familiar with translating ID card. - I knew a little more about communication technology.
  • 22. 18 Friday ( June 26th , 2019) - Designed and translated a certificate of achievement - Helped the supervisor to arrange the documents for customers - My MS Word skills improved thanks to the instruction of the supervisor. - By designing the certificate, I could significantly enhanced my meticulousness. Saturday ( June 27th , 2019) - Helped the supervisor with scanning the documents - Translated an academic report - Worked as the role of a customer care staff - It was a long time since I last used the scan program but luckily I could handle it. - Playing the role as a customer improved both of my communication and negotiation skills. Description: The second week seemed to be a little bit easier for me. I gradually adapted with the pace of work and got more confident than in the first week. I encountered many new tasks such as delivering documents and working as a customer care staff, but they were not as difficult as I thought before. In addition, the supervisor and other trainees shared a lot of their knowledge with me, they taught me plenty of new things that I had never known before. All of those happened things really made me feel excited and satisfied, and they also gave me the motivation to continue to the next weeks. WEEK 3: (From June 29th , 2019 to August 3rd , 2019) Dates Tasks Results Monday ( June 29th , 2019) - Helped the supervisor to print and arrange documents - I could contribute myself to help the supervisor even that was a little thing.
  • 23. 19 - Translated a household book and a labor contract - The labor contract really confused me with specialized words, luckily the supervisor explained them all and I could finish it on time. Tuesday ( June 30th , 2019) - Translated a school record and a birth certificate - Designed and checked for mistakes in translated Certificate of origin, quality and quantity - I no longer had difficulty with the school record and the birth certificate anymore. - The certificate of origin took me a lot of time to complete because I had to search for some abbreviated names of goods on the Internet. Wednesday ( June 31st , 2019) - Typed and translated a school record - Translated a menu of wine and a certificate of marriage - The supervisor taught me some formatting skills so I was able to complete the school record in a better way. - I also enhanced my knowledge about wines and the ways to produce them. Thursday (August 1st , 2019) - Translated a saving books and a land use right transfer contract - Replaced information into an available form of marriage certificate - Today I learned how to manage tasks in order to work under pressure. - I identified and corrected some of my mistakes in English. - Working with numbers was more familiar to me.
  • 24. 20 Friday (August 2nd , 2019) - Translated a secondary school record and degree, as well as a high school certificate - Checked for mistakes in a certificate of notary from Korea - I finished and checked the school record, degree and certificate only in a short time. - I could observe a real certificate of notary. It was really professional and worth learning. Saturday (August 3rd , 2019) - Translated and designed certificate of origin, quality and quantity - Translated certificate of discharge from hospital - The certificates of origin, quality and quantity were very difficult to me. There were too many specialized terms and abbreviated words. - The good point was that I could significantly widen my knowledge. Description: Another week passed and I tried so hard this week. The result was that not only my knowledge but my skills were also enhanced. The formal forms such as ID card, birth certificate or school record were no longer the problems to me anymore. I also encountered some rare documents such as Korea certificate of notary, which really improved my understanding about specialized files. Moreover, I continued to learn new abbreviated words and medicine terms, but the most exciting task was the wine menu. From this menu, I could study how to describe foods and drinks in an exquisite way like a cuisine master. On the other hand, the experience I got from the supervisor was very useful, I felt that it will probably be more applicable in the future.
  • 25. 21 WEEK 4: (From August 5th , 2019 to August 10th , 2019) Dates Tasks Results Monday (August 5th , 2019) -Scanned apartment lease contract -Typed and translated a letter of confirmation -Translated a letter of donation -I got more familiar with using the scanner. -I learned that the most accurate way to translate the address of companies was just searching its information on the Internet. Tuesday (August 6th , 2019) -Greeted and talked to customers while they were waiting for their translations -Designed and translated a saving book -Translated a letter of intent purchase -Welcoming customers seemed to be a funny job because they were very kind and friendly. -The saving book form was unavailable in the office’s storage, so I had so spend quite a lot of time designing it. Wednesday (August 7th , 2019) -Helped an official translator to scan a plan on infrastructure development -Designed and translated a certificate of origin, quality and quantity for fire alarm equipment -Although today all of us had to do a lot of works, I could finally manage to get through the overworking. -The certificate of origin, quality and quantity significantly enhanced my designing skill and my meticulousness.
  • 26. 22 Thursday (August 8th , 2019) -Translated a sales invoice of Danang Architecture University -Typed and translated a Statement of agreement between two ports -I could nearly translate the State of agreement without help from other translators. The articles in the agreement seemed to be similar with most of the contracts I had encountered before. Friday (August 9th , 2019) -Checked information in translated Japanese documents. -Translated a certificate of enrollment and an admission letter for Endeavour scholarship of Australia. -I learned that in Japanese, they always changed the order of the date and time. -It was the first time I saw a certificate of enrollment and an invitation letter of Endeavour scholarship, but it was not too difficult at all. Saturday (August 10th , 2019) -Replaced information and checked for mistakes in an admission letter of Danang University -Worked with other translators to translate a long document related to law field -I also widened my vocabulary about the names of authorities related to admission procedures. -Our team worked very well in all stages. As a result, we could finally finish the law document on time. Description: I felt that I did better in this fourth week. This week, I encountered more documents I have never seen before such as Australia certificate of enrollment and admission letter. In addition, I also enhanced my vocabulary and knowledge in the fields of law and education. I really satisfied with our completed works, especially the law document, which I and other translators had to try our best to finish before the deadline. On the other hand, I learned to keep calm when facing the stress from overworking. But from a different point of view, the overworking

WEEK 5: (From August 26th , 2019 to March 3rd , 2019) Dates Tasks Results Monday (August 26th , 2019) -Designed and translated a certificate of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union -Replaced information into a birth certificate and a school record -Translated a clinic receipt and a letter of confirmation -I had to search for the titles of many positions in Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in order to complete the certificate. -Other tasks such as birth certificate, receipt and letter were very easy. Tuesday (August 27th , 2019) -Designed and translated a birth and death registration -Translated a household book and a primary school record -Scanned an application for university -Welcomed customers -I only spent a short time completing the birth and death registration because it was quite simple. -From today on, I was in charge of scanning, designing and translating certain kinds of documents such as school records, brochures, etc. Wednesday (August 28th , 2019) -Type and translated a visa responding letter -Translated an academic transcript of a student from Duy Tan University -Design a spa brochure -It seemed that it was very complicated to apply for a visa. -I enhanced my vocabulary of subjects in university. -My designing skill was also upgraded.
  • 28. 24 Thursday (March 1st , 2019) -Translated a certificate of merit, a high school diploma and a school record -Checked for mistakes in a translated certificate of origin, quality and quantity -Replaced information into a business registration certificate -I completed the certificate, diploma and school record without any mistake. -Checking for information was a skill I need to improve. -I enlarged my vocabulary about the titles of working positions in a company. Friday (March 2nd , 2019) -Designed a Korean and Chinese brochure -Translated a birth certificate and a juridical curriculum vitae -I learned that in Korean translation, they always changed the order of date and time. -I finished the whole tasks in short time thanks to the same available forms. Saturday (March 3rd , 2019) -Replaced information into certificates of origin, quality and quantity from Taiwan and Singapore -Welcomed customers -Designed and translated a certificate of merit -I finished and sent the certificates to the supervisor on time although I had to spend most of time searching for abbreviated names of item within. -The certificate of merit was also completed without mistakes. Description: I could still keep up with the pace of work after two-week-vacation of Lunar New Year. The demand of customers was really high in this period of time. As a result, all of translators in the company had to work with full potential. Although the jobs of this week were a little bit difficult to solve, we could handle them all. From this week on, I was in charge of translating school records, certificates of marriage, household books and designing brochures. On the other hand, my vocabulary about the subjects in university had been widened. I could
  • 29. 25 translate almost comments of the teachers in school records without any help from other translators. Moreover, I did less mistakes in checking documents, so the time to finish them was getting shorter and shorter. In my point of view, I really satisfied with what I had achieved this week. WEEK 6: (From March 5th , 2019 to March 10th , 2019) Dates Tasks Results Monday (March 5th , 2019) -Designed and translated a graduation certificate and an IELTS certificate -My vocabulary in education aspect was enlarged a little bit. -I could clearly complete designing the certificates faster. -I learned some useful tricks with MS Word from the supervisor. Tuesday (March 6th , 2019) -Designed and translated a visa and a passport from USA -Replaced information into a saved form of social insurance book -My designing skill was remarkably increased today. -I also enhanced my knowledge about the foreign visa and passport. -My understanding about governmental divisions was clearly widened. Wednesday (March 7th , 2019) -Designed and translated a certificate of analysis of AGQ Labs from Chile -Translated a certificate for winning the first prize in a Traffic Safety Contest -I knew more about the components of a wine. -I finished checking documents only in a short time. -I also learned the way to choose appropriate words for each context when translating documents.
  • 30. 26 Thursday (March 8th , 2019) -Translated a set of documents from Patten Academy of Christian Education including an admission letter and a brochure -Designed and translated a TOEIC official score certificate. -The admission letter was similar to others that I encountered before but the brochure was professionally designed. I would kept its form for further learning. -I widened my knowledge about the evaluating standards of a TOEIC examination. Friday (March 9th , 2019) -Helped other interns with their unfinished works -Translated an application for leave and an ID card -Thanks to my help, other trainees could complete their tasks on time. -I completed the ID card without making a mistake. Saturday (March 10th , 2019) -Translated a birth certificate and an excerpt of a certificate of death. -Replaced information into a certificate of land use rights and a curriculum vitae. -The birth certificate and the excerpt of certificate of death took me quite a long time to finish because there they included too much information. -I also reviewed my checking skill with the certificate of land use rights and the curriculum vitae. 3.3 Summary This is the last week of my internship. In this week, I continued to hone my skills I have learnt so far. After getting through six weeks working as a trainee, I realized that the internship period was not too difficult as I thought before. Thanks to this time, not only I could gain more precious knowledge, I also got a lot of unforgettable experience together with my colleagues. Although there were some times I felt very tired because of overworking, I still wanted to spend more time

  • 32. 28 PART 4: FURTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR INTERNSHIP SITE AND UNIVERSITY 4.1.For Sao Nam Viet The company should set up English clubs for all staffs to make sure that they can improve their communication by English because they are not very good at communication skill, especially English skills. Team members and upper management should focus on improving their speaking skill because English is the key language that they use at workplace every day. Moreover, the staffs should be motivated and feel valued when they're given positive reinforcement and shown how their work contributes to the success of Sao Nam Viet. This means offering employees specific feedback on how their work is feeding into the broader business objectives. 4.2. For University After experiencing an internship, I highly suggest main recommendations to the university that the university should offer an internship class while students are in learning process. The class is a great opportunity for these young men and women to enhance their skills and talk about what they experienced so they all can learn from what each individual is going through. 4.3. Conclusion The purpose of the internship is to help students to enter the real world. In addition, internships help students improve their roles and responsibilities in the industry they are pursuing, as well as gain access to and familiarize themselves with the jobs they are currently involved in. Since then, students have improved their professional skills and soft skills. It gives students real-world experience This placement gives students access to the careers they have chosen when they enter university. Practical activities once again help students understand how they will work after graduation and make timely adjustments, along with a more

The application of knowledge learned in the school to the reality of work helps students recognize their strengths and weaknesses and need to equip more knowledge and skills to meet the needs of work. In fact, the curriculum provides a theoretical and useful theoretical framework for the discipline and necessarily needs to be applied in real life to specific audiences and occupational environments. As a result, the internships are becoming increasingly important to the students. These early experiences help students become more confident after graduation and find a job, which will help them not be so illogical as to make them disappointed in the reality when they actually enter the labour market. During the internship, the student can establish relationships in their careers, which is very useful for students when they graduate. With good practice, the students also has the opportunity to earn a job right during the internship.
