7. Functions Of Traffic Data Analyzer
• Standard Turning Movement Studies:
Collect turning movement data while classifying up to 3
groups of vehicles.
• Enhanced Turning Movement Studies
Collect Turning Movement data while classifying up to 14
groups of vehicles.
Collect gap and count data in one direction or two
directions with combined gap.
• Stop Sign Delay Studies
Measure delay and queues at stop sign controlled
intersections.
8. • Signalized Intersection Delay Studies
Measure several vehicle delay parameters at an approach to
a signalized
intersection.
• Spot Speed Studies
Do speed studies to find running speeds on approaches.
• Saturation Flow Rate Studies
Collect Saturation Flow data at signalized intersections.
• Roundabout Movement Studies
Collect movement data at roundabouts while classifying up
to 3 groups of vehicles.
• Time-Stamped Studies
Collect raw data with a time-stamp of every key pressed.
11. selecting the type of study :
• TM = Standard Turning Movement
• CL = Classification DL = Signalized
Intersection Delay
• GAP = Multi-direction Gap SF = Saturation
Flow Rate
• SD= Stop Sign Delay SS = Spot Speed
• RA = Roundabout TS = Time Stamped
• TC = Enhanced Turning Movement
18. Data format
• Data calculated for three hour (from 9 am
to 12 am.
• Data was collected at Jinnah and 9th
avenue.
• Turning volumes were calculated on basis
of 5min intervals.
• Data was imported to Perta pro form
Jamar counter.
19. Calculating peak hour factor
• Data from the Petrapro was imported to
the excel.
• The graph of turning volumes against time
for the all approaches were plotted.
• Form the graph, different possibilities of
peak hour factor were evaluated.
• After deeply analyzing the graph the peak
hour was obtained.
20. • For this peak hour, the highest 15 min
volume was calculated.
• Calculations were made as follow:
PHF=V/(4 xv15)

27. Petra Pro
• Data Analysis Software for Hand-held Data
Recorders
PETRAPro is the software for analyzing data gathered
with the TDC Ultra hand-held data
collectors.
The industry standard for processing turning movement
data, thousands of users have
come to appreciate PETRAPro's stability, ease of use
and comprehensive reporting
capability.
28. • The program allows you to create a variety
of reports and graphs. Finished reports can
also be saved in Acrobat PDF or Text format for
easy electronic transfer. Data can also
be exported into numerous other programs.
Released in 2004, this program replaced the
older PETRA for Windows software, which
was originally introduced in 1998. PETRAPro
offers new features and improvements to
the older PETRA for Windows software
36. Conclusions
• Data was successfully taken from the JAMAR
counting Device and imported to the PETRAPro
Software.
• Peak Hour Factor is calculated and the result is 0.76
• LOS of Lane Groups are NB: T and R as C and C
respectively.
• SB: T and R as D and D, WB:
T and R as E and D, EB: T and R as E and D.
37. Conclusions
• LOS of approaches are as: NB “C”, SB “D”, WB
“E”, EB “E”.
• LOS of the INTERSECTION is calculated to be
“D”.
