20 years interRAI work in Finland - Minna-Liisa Luoma THL
The document summarizes 20 years of work using the interRAI assessment tool in Finland. It shows that since 2000, use of interRAI has expanded on a voluntary basis among Finnish municipalities to assess older residents and improve elderly care services. Use of interRAI is planned to be integrated into national elderly care legislation. Charts show the growth in municipalities using interRAI and the number of older individuals assessed over time.
The document discusses several initiatives by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) to improve information governance, reduce bureaucracy around data collection, and enhance data quality and standards. Specifically, it mentions the HSCIC publishing a register of data releases, reviewing data sharing by predecessor organizations, and strengthening its board. It also details the HSCIC's work on busting bureaucracy through audits, reducing data collection burdens, developing common standards, assessing national data quality, and sharing child protection information between health and social care services.
Presentation made by Professor Martin Severs, HSCIC Caldicott Guardian and Lead Clinician, at the Healthcare Conferences UK event 'Information Governance Implementing the Government Response to Caldicott2', to preview the new HSCIC Code of Practice on Confidential Information. This event was held at London's Hallam Conference Centre, on Wednesday 12 November 2014.
The document outlines the agenda for a data quality and data standards roadshow presented by the Health and Social Care Information Centre. Recent developments in NHS Jobs data quality and the workforce Minimum Data Set are discussed, including issues found and future plans. Future proposed changes to national workforce data standards and codes are also mentioned.
This document discusses the transition away from Local Service Provider contracts ending in July 2016 and the impact on NHS organizations. Over 260 NHS organizations will be affected and will need to make plans to procure new healthcare IT systems. While there are enough suppliers in the market, the market is small relative to demand, so organizations should work together to leverage their buying power. The document outlines the various exit options organizations are considering, available procurement and funding support mechanisms, and some known risks to the transition such as funding, market capacity, and timelines.
The Health and Social Care Information Centre is hosting a series of road shows jointly with the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Central Team and Health Education England to highlight developments in NHS workforce information, data standards and data quality.
Here are the slides presented at the first event, held at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust on 1st October 2015.
Data quality is all about collaborative working with a shared purpose and this is the main driver behind our road shows during 2015/16. Any efforts to improve data quality should have mutual benefits and should provide a platform for discourse between all involved. Collectively we can ensure that the data that is used to inform decisions about the workforce at local, regional and national level is as accurate as possible. Good data quality can't guarantee good decisions are made, but poor data quality will definitely increase the likelihood of poor decisions and poor outcomes.

Digital health @ Work: Opportunities created by DigitalisationSitra / Hyvinvointi
Digitalization is creating new opportunities in healthcare by enabling a shift from reactive to proactive care and from physical to digital services. This allows the industry to move from local and regulated businesses to those that are global and less regulated. The digital health market is growing rapidly, with the mobile health market expected to increase 61% annually to $26 billion by 2017. Digital occupational healthcare can provide insights, education, programs, telehealth services, and personalized data and media through online profiles and wearable sensors. The goal is to improve life and performance through these new digital opportunities.
Neil Calland - Senior Programme Manager, Digital Technology NHS EnglandHIMSS UK
This document summarizes Neil Calland's presentation on digital maturity and local digital roadmaps in the NHS. The key points are:
1) Calland outlines what success in digital transformation would look like, including patient records being digital, information flowing seamlessly between providers, and patients managing their health digitally.
2) He shows results from digital maturity self-assessments, finding secondary care providers score lowest in areas like medicines management and decision support.
3) Local Digital Roadmaps are being developed by 83 footprints to describe how digital technology will transform services within and between settings.
4) The process going forward involves assessing roadmaps, targeting support to improve investment readiness, and aligning road
The document provides information about NHS Pathways' Intelligent Data Tool (IDT):
- The IDT is a web-based, dynamic reporting tool that stores NHS data securely and gives authorized users interactive access to reports and underlying data through drilling down.
- It currently includes clinical quality indicators and a directory of services dashboard, and more content will be added. Licenses provide single-user access to the tool and support.
- The IDT is currently in beta testing and will see a national rollout in early 2014. Access requires a license procured through NHS Pathways and signing a data sharing agreement.
Local Digital Roadmaps & Digital Maturity Assessment: The Story so FarHIMSS UK
The document outlines steps for local health systems to develop digital roadmaps to become paper-free at the point of care. It recommends that local roadmaps:
1) Describe how commissioners and providers will use digital technology and data to transform services and clinical priorities.
2) Plot the route to delivering paper-free care across settings and exploiting digital technology to support wider transformation.
3) Outline a vision, information sharing approach, readiness assessment, and deployment plans to achieve paper-free status through 10 universal capabilities like electronic referrals, discharge summaries, and prescription management.
NHS England is committed to five high impact digital changes in primary care by 2018: allowing patients to book appointments and order prescriptions online, access test results electronically, monitor long-term conditions remotely, control personal health records, and engage with professionals via text/email. NHS England also aims to make general practice paper-free by 2018 through initiatives like scanning historical paper records and receiving digital discharge summaries. Risto Kaikkonen from the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) in Finland discusses possibilities for open health and well-being data. THL collects and maintains numerous health registers containing personal data on topics such as cancers, hospital discharges, and health surveys. Currently, THL provides limited open aggregate datasets and reports, but the data has more potential uses. With open interfaces and virtual data warehouses, the data could support custom analyses by policymakers, entrepreneurs, researchers and citizens. This could help inform public discourse and decision making. THL also challenges developers to create applications using open data to compare health behaviors, support municipal decision making, and visualize infectious disease trends.

It aims to create understanding of the EHR as critical to healthcare reform by enabling data sharing across settings. The EHR would include electronic patient records, order communications, test results, and more. International examples show EHRs can reduce costs, errors, and improve outcomes. The briefing also discusses stakeholder engagement to develop the approach, proposed core solutions, and a phased implementation strategy.
National approaches to Electronic Health Recordsipposi
This document discusses the benefits and challenges of implementing a national electronic health record (EHR) system in Ireland. It outlines that a national EHR would provide a comprehensive view of patient medical records across different health services, support safer and more efficient patient care, and facilitate using health data to improve services and research. However, Ireland currently has siloed health data and lacks integrated EHRs, ranking last in Europe for availability of health data. Moving forward will require clinically-led programs, governance, interoperability standards, and political support to foster digital innovation and overcome past blocks to implementing comprehensive e-health technologies.
This document discusses aging trends in Japan and proposals to promote healthy aging through information and communication technologies (ICT). It provides the following key points:
1) About 32% of Japan's population is elderly or disabled, and aging people account for half of healthcare costs and a growing percentage live alone.
2) Conferences were held to discuss ICT applications to support independent living and health for seniors, including expanding digital access and inclusion.
3) Proposals included establishing ICT-enabled health models using medical data to promote prevention, expanding medical data sharing infrastructure to improve care coordination, and creating "life support businesses" using technologies like sensors and robots.

Here is the summary of hypotension:
Hypotension, or low blood pressure, is when the pressure of blood circulating in the body is lower than normal or expected. It's only a problem if it negatively impacts the body and causes symptoms. Normal blood pressure is usually between 90/60 mmHg and 120/80 mmHg, but pressures below 90/60 are generally considered hypotensive.
