The preliminary outcomes of the conducted experiment demonstrated the possibility of applying mobile devices within the various help of the students at Girne American University and for the young people and scientific. In this work, survey is prepared as two forms, one for personnel information and the second for the use and benefits of using smart phones in higher education. Sant and Catania in the International Journal of Art and Sciences state that:
“Generations today have grown accustomed to a new style of interpersonal communication.
Creating and networking online content has become an integral means of managing one’s
identity, lifestyle and social relations. Due to the development of online communities,
communication has moved away from the more traditional modes of interpersonal
communication that are based on face to face models of interaction, to a more digital
approach to maintaining and establishing relationships.”
3. Uses and Gratifications (UG) Theory
UG Theory assumes the
audience is taking an active
role in the communications
process.
It looks at HOW and WHY
people actively seek out
specific media to satisfy needs.
4. Media Needs and Use
Traditional and new media are being used to fulfill needs for users of all ages.
“Emerging adults use the media to gratify certain needs; key among these are for
autonomy, identity, and intimacy needs.” (Society for the Study of Emerging
Adulthood, 2013)
“Computer-mediated communication has sped up the intimacy process… People
are more likely to disclose more personal information on Social Networking Sites
than they would in face to face communication because the level of control is
higher (Ledbetter et al., 2011)

American adults spend over 11 hours
per day listening to, watching, reading
or generally interacting with media.
(Nielson, 2018).
That's up from 9 hours and 32
minutes just four years ago.

8. In Conclusion
Greenfield, a distinguished professor of psychology and director of the UCLA Children’s Digital
Media Center, is most concerned about the social costs of our obsession with digital technology.
“Being able to understand the feelings of other people is extremely important to society,”
Greenfield said. “I think we can all see a reduction in that.” (Cook, 2016).
