James Burnes discusses how companies can transform themselves digitally in today's interconnected world. He notes that trust has moved to the internet, with recommendations from people online being highly influential. Burnes also highlights how mobile broadband use will surpass fixed broadband globally by 2010. He asks companies to consider opportunities that may arise if aspects of their business model, such as prices or products, were changed or disrupted. Burnes advocates structuring new digital ventures within companies in an agile manner and hiring for work ethic rather than just enthusiasm.

For Episode 6 of the Tablet Advertising Professionals podcast, a hot topic nowadays will be discussed about how tablet newspapers and magazines have changed the advertising landscape – both for print and online.
We’ve seen a decline in print advertising revenue since 2005, and we’ll try to delve into the reasons and explain what caused them.
We’ll also see how developments with Apps or HTML5 are affecting online advertisers, and the impact they have on the publishers.
And we’ll see what the publishers are doing to adapt to these business changes. Is it really worth it to make the shift from print to online advertising? And what are the challenges publishers have to face to make that shift.

Engagement Fragmentation
The state of media today is fragmented. Consumers are bombarded with more marketing messages than ever, while attention spans, multitasking and other human traits are quickly adapting in parallel.
Many brands and marketers today prove laggards, continuing to invest in low-impact platforms that yield minimal results, especially in this saturated market.
This keynote experience highlights the current state of engagement fragmentation we see today on all channels, digital and physical, and empowers audiences with strategies to cut through this clutter and add personalized value in each interaction to ensure relevance in this rapidly changing landscape.
The Proof Points —
• The average attention span of consumers today is just eight seconds, less than the standard goldfish.
• Today, in the U.S., consumers are exposed to over 5,000 ads per day, a number that continues to increase each year, exponentially.
• 95% of digital ad spending continues to funnel through two main companies; Facebook and Google, often leaving other, more effective, opportunities laid to the wayside.
• Due to the rise in digital, brands now have an opportunity to reach audiences at any part of the day, creating brand conversations that truly never have to end.
• With the power of this always-on reach, a strategic balance must be put into place as consumers are becoming nimble, tuning out the ever-growing, unwanted chatter through evolving technologies such as ad-blockers.
Brian Ferrario of Drawbridge, Inc. session at the Seattle Interactive Conference 2014.
Over 90% of consumers use multiple devices sequentially to accomplish online tasks, yet advertisers continue to have disjointed conversations with their customers by taking a siloed approach to digital advertising. Brands who are early adopters of smart, scalable cross-device advertising solutions have a head start in establishing and maintaining a seamless conversation with customers.

Work like a social media - How digital companies is eating traditional businessSocialsquare
Digital companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google are surely disrupting the world of marketing and communication, but moreover they are radically changing the concept of how companies operate. Today’s fastest-growing, most profoundly impactful companies are using a completely different operating model, that at heart are more purposely agile, lean and entrepreneurial.
Digital companies operates at lower cost, at higher speed and with less organizational friction. They are vastly more innovative and disruptive despite their lack of domain knowledge. They are attracting highly passionate and skilled people. And they are ultimately creating better products and services than age old legacy companies have been able to. Think Nest+Google vs. Danfoss. Think Netflix vs. Blockbuster. Think Airbnb vs. Hotels. Literally no industry is going to be untouched by the proliferation of the digital companies.
So as an established company it is not enough to be actively present on social media, you’ll also need to work like a digital company to keep up. How do you do that?
On this event, we will present our thoughts on the operation models that is changing the world and we will discuss with the audience, what it takes to work like a truly digital company? What tools and process are needed? What competences are needed? and what are the benefits of operating like a digital company?
The event will be a mixture of short perspectives from the Partners Martin and Magnus from Socialsquare and discussions with a panel of clued-in people. Follow the hashtag for the event to see announcements about the panel.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
