Dispositional Flexibility
With today s Air Force ever changing the demand for flexible and adaptive leadership is crucial for
success. Whether you re in a training environment, home station or deployed it is import to remain
flexible and embrace the process. An Adaptable leader is broken down into three elements: Cognitive
Flexibility, Dispositional Flexibility, and Emotional Flexibility. Course 15 states You must exhibit at
least two of the three characteristics to reach an effective level of adaptability . It is key to not only
comprehend the methods, but properly apply them to be more prepared for what the Air Force throws
at you. Throughout my military career, the need for flexibility was present. From having missions

The ability to be an adaptive leader and to utilize and apply changes while keeping a positive attitude
is a must. I will display cognitive flexibility by using strategic thinking having multiple plans to cover
any unexpected factors along the along the way. By doing this my supervisors and peers will have
faith in my decision making, while I keep my subordinates on the right track to complete the mission.
I will practice dispositional flexibility by remaining optimistic at all times, encouraging my
subordinates along the way, expressing the importance of the task and inspiring everyone to remain
motivated. This in return will motivate my peers and supervisors, giving them a piece of mind during
stressful or unpredictable situations. Lastly, I will utilize emotional flexibility, to not only manage my
own emotions but the emotions of others. This can require me to take different approaches to
individuals on my team due to multiple personalities. If my subordinates remain emotionally stable
my peers will feel more comfortable working alongside me and my team, thus allowing the leaders to
have complete faith we can complete any task while keeping our emotions under control. By
remaining an adaptable and flexible leader the insight I will have on my leadership, peers, and Airmen
is abundant. My subordinates will want to follow me because I can adapt, my peers will want to work
with me because I don t let stress affect my work and my supervisors will entrust me more complex
and important task to complete. Overall making the unit more effective.
The ability to be an adaptable and flexible leader is a needed every day in the work center. Every day,
every situation and every Airman are different, your adaptability is crucial for success. Adrian McGinn

Ebola Virus In The Hot Zone
Ebola Zaire, arguably the deadliest known virus strain on earth, held a mortality rate up to ninety
percent in the past, and is the hottest type of Ebola Viral Diseases. In addition, there are four other
types of Ebola species: Ebola Sudan, Ebola Ivory Coast, Bundibugyo ebolavirus, and Ebola Reston.
Notably, the earliest of Ebola outbreaks being from Ebola Sudan and Ebola Zaire, both erupted during
1976 in Africa. Previously known as the Ebola haemorrhagic fever, these virus are known to cause
tremors and convulsions in its host, resulting in the splattering of blood which is used as its strategy
for transmission. Other ways of contracting Ebola is through contact with patient s bodily fluids and
aerosolized secretions in the air. Furthermore, the novel The Hot Zone written by Richard Preston,

and Kenny. The story is set in the early 1960 s. , where all the Watson children go to Clark

of their crazy antics. Through Kenny s eyes we view the love/hate relationship between him and his
older brother Byron (By), whom is a sixth grade bully and the king of Clarks. The baby of the family
is Joetta (Joey) who is in kindergarten. Kenny is often a target for the bullies, only until Rufus then
new student comes to town. Kenny and Rufus become good buddies because he doesn t take any mess
(even from the bullies). Byron continues to get into mischief, and Daddy and Momma have had
enough. They will not take it anymore, so Momma announced they will be taking a trip to
Birmingham to visit their grandmother, Grandma Sands and Byron will remain there for the summer
until he learns how to behave. This would the first time Grandma and Kenny and Joey meet, but

Momma and Daddy are fair parents with hearts of gold, but they refuse to raise a troubled child.
Although they don t get along all the time, they are close and loving, which we see throughout the

Physical Therapy Personal Statement
The streets of my hometown have not been this flooded since the Ohio River rose over the ten foot
flood wall in 1937; only this time not by water, but by prescription pain pills. I grew up in the foothills
of Appalachia, where pain clinics were widespread throughout the Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia
tri state area until 2010. Physical therapy is an option that residents of my hometown are not fully
aware of. The opioid crisis that is currently being fought by the APTA is something that continues to
go on in front of my own eyes. Unfortunately, the area continues to be unaware and underserved.
Once I graduate from a doctorate of physical therapy program, I hope to come back to my town and
serve those in need. After reflecting on personal experiences, finding a program that prides itself in

experienced in any other way. In particular, my appreciation for applying the knowledge and skills that
will be learned in school must be easily translated into the clinic. During me time spent with different
therapists and patients, I have come to value the need for excellence in the clinic. Every individual
provides a new experience in the field and developing the application skills needed is an experience
that I want to be able to utilize in future clinical rotations. I want to be completely comfortable with
my skills in the field as a student so that I can serve as a prepared healthcare professional that is

Death Is A Certainty Of Every Human Life
Katie Liu
Professor Evans
Existentialism
09 March 2017
Self Reliant Salvation Death is a certainty of every human life. Brought on by old age and sickness,
death is a major fear throughout the lifetime of many people. In the modern day, death is often seen as
the penultimate end to existence. However, Soren Kierkegaard, in Sickness Unto Death, claims that
there is everlasting life after death. Thus, rather than fearing death itself, one should fear the state of
Despair. Kierkegaard defines this Despair as an imbalance within the human self or identity that
prevents the individual from reaching everlasting life. This state of Despair is a universal, defining
component of what it means to be a human. Although seemingly hopeless, the state ... Show more

Thus, the Despair that stems from this conflict is also continual, existing along with and parallel to the
individual. For a more concrete example of how Despair manifests itself, one can turn to Kierkegaard
s other writings. For instance, in Either, the aesthete lives almost purely in the finite world, absorbed
with the fleeting amusements in life. On the other hand, the ethical in Or lives in an infinite world of
moral principle. At the same time, neither the aesthete nor the ethical judge are fully immersed in their
respective worlds, because they are human. Thus, they are a relationship between the infinite and the
finite. Both individuals have elements of each aspect in their lives, no matter how imbalanced. If there
is not a single human being who does not despair a little, there is also not a single human being who
only despairs (52). However, these individuals still falsely relate the content of the self, or their
identity, to either just the finite or just the infinite, and therefore they fail to be truly self conscious and
remain in a stage of false relation. To be human is to be in despair, and to be in despair is to be human.
They are two interconnected, inseparable identities. Humans are inherently self conscious and
reflective beings, but to be completely conscious of self, one has to understand the condition of self.
The human, as a relation

Albert Bandura Bobo Doll Theory
Though out this paper we will be discussing the Bobo doll experiment that was conducted by Albert
Bandura in 1961 at Stanford University. We will touch on the history and theory of the Bobo doll
experiment. We will discuss how human behavior and the mental process was used, and how nature
versus nurture influences this study. We will discuss the meaning of social observational learning and
if and how it was used during this research experiment. This research was unethical, not only in my
opinion, but based off the American Psychological Association Code of Ethic, we will discuss more of
the ethical boundaries that were broken, later on.
I selected to research Bandura s Bobo Doll experiment. This experiment, based off of social learning
and was conducted by Canadian Psychologist Albert Bandura in 1961. According to Salem Press
Encyclopedia Of Health, the Bobo doll experiment was designed to investigate the role of
observational learning in social behavior; specifically, the role of observation of aggressive behavior
toward an inanimate object in children s subsequent behavior in the absence of the adult model.
(Dillon 2017) Bandura completed this experiment by testing 82 children, ranging from ages three six
years old from the nursery at Stanford University.
The Bobo Doll was an inflatable toy, that resembles the average size of a young child. The doll, was
weighted on the bottom, holding it in an upright position, so that when knocked over it would return to

G Setosus Lab Report
INTRODUCTION Although many researchers have found that Gammarus setosus lives in panarctic
region, few of them work to specify whether it predominantly lives in rocky zones or sandy zones. To
determine this, we set out for a choice experiment on G. setosus that can help us determine its
distribution more precisely. Gammarus setoseus is a kind of tiny, shrimp like oceanic organism. Adult
G. setosus is typically 20 35mm long (Weslawski 2009), but the organism we use in our research is
generally 5 10mm, which can be classified as juvenile. The head and body of G. setosus is covered
with grey and translucent thin shell, which have a function of support and protection. On the top part
of G. setosus, there are two dark black eyes and a mouthpart, as well as two slender extended

How Does Haydn Influence Modern Music
Franz Joseph Haydn was from Austria and writer: he stood out among the most productive and
conspicuous authors of the Classical time frame. Haydn composed 107 ensembles altogether and also
83 string groups of four, 45 piano triplets, 62 piano solos, 14 Eucharists and 26 musical shows, among
endless different scores. Franz Joseph Haydn was among the makers of the major classifications of
traditional music, and his impact on later writers is tremendous. Haydn s most prized understudy was
Ludwig van Beethoven, and his melodic frame throws a significant shadow over the music of
consequent authors, for example, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Brahms.

Debate Lawyer Research Paper
Three Reasons You May Need to Consult with a Probate Attorney as an Executor of Your Parent s
Estate
If you have been named the executor of your parent s estate and their has been a death, you may think
that the process of probate is straight forward, so there is no reason to involve a probate attorney. But
there are several reasons why this is not a good idea. The following are only a few of the significant
reasons you should consider speaking with a probate lawyer.
You have siblings who expect a certain inheritance
This can be a big problem if your parent s estate was not divided up equally between the children. It is
not uncommon for a man or woman to leave different portions of his or her wealth to different
children. If these children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Qualified experts will be needed to place an appraisal on the worth of the asset. A probate attorney can
advise you on how best to go about the sale of an entire business or a share of ownership, so there is
less of a chance of a problem developing over the proceeds.
Your parent s estate is worth less than the outstanding debts
In this case, the state where your parent resided likely has rules as to which creditor gets paid first and
how much. An attorney will know exactly how this is done, so legal assistance is the only route to
take. Also, you need to consider taxes as well. If your parent s estate owes taxes, these will need to be
paid first. After this, if the estate is still worth less than the total outstanding debt, you need a probate
lawyer.
Keep in mind that much of the probate process is governed by state law, so the specific advice for
your situation will relate directly to the particular rules of the state. In some states there is a simple
probate process, but this is only for estates that do not involve any of the above situations. If you have
any questions about the probate process, you can always consult with an attorney to simply get
information that you need. After this, you can decide if you need the services of a probate

Strengths Of Labeling Theory
Strengths Labeling theory has two simple elements that incorporates within the theory. One being the
negative reaction and labels that the public has of an individual and the consequences of those labels
that the affect the individual mentally and physically. It explains in simple terms why the criminal
commits illegal acts. The labeling theory contains simple logical that any one can understand.
Labeling theory is known to being simple and into the point. According to the book Sociology: An
Interactive Approach
At its most basic, labeling theory involves a number of fairly simple ideas: (1) Deviance (and crime)
have to be witnessed by others. (2) Certain perceptions of the act have to be made. (3) It has to be
labelled or defined as deviant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The societal reaction of an individual s behavior leads to that individual becoming the criminal that
everyone labels him or her as. Labeling theorists argue that labeling theory can be applied to any type
of individual and to any crime. But, with every theory comes weaknesses. The theory has lacked the
explanation on why individuals first start to act deviant and they lack considering other factors that
can influence someone to commit a crime. However, even with these lacks of explanation labeling
theorists argue that the labeling theory have been timeless and can explain any type of situation.
Labeling theorist also recommend ways to improve on the policy of the theory. The recommendations
that were mentioned explain on how not only the government, but also society as a whole can improve
on the rate of crimes. All things considered, what you as the reader should remember is that the most
vital aspect of changing criminal behavior is society (yes, that includes the person this paper too).
Take this paper into consideration when thinking about the following question: Are individuals born
with criminal behavior? Or do we, as a society, make them that

The Bombing Of The Uss Maine
February 15th, 1898, the USS Maine was hit with a mine as it sat in the Havana Harbor. There is large
speculation to whether that is the truth or not. Over the years it is still a topic of debate as of what
caused the explosion. Some believe that the Spaniards did it, others believe it was a clumsy mistake of
misplaced ammo, others believe it was a spontaneous coal fire that caught a box of ammunition on
fire. No matter the cause, the loss of the ship and 260 of her crew was devastating to America at the
time and led to strong feelings of dislike towards the Spaniards, leading to the Spanish American war
of 1898. The theories behind the explosion of the USS Maine is mainly focused around two ideas,
there are many angles that can be viewed for the cause of this disaster and its fueling of the war that
will be examined in this paper.
The Spanish American war was a short war in which America won in three months, two weeks and
four days. The fights were extremely unbalanced as America dominated Spain in all of the battles. At
Manila Bay in the Philippines the American fleet, under command of Commodore Dewey, destroyed
the Spanish fleet and took over the Philippines on May 1st, in which total America only had several
wounded soldiers at the end of the battle. In June, American forces landed outside of the Cuban city of

The Process Of Survival In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
The process of survival is a basis laid upon many significant factors and it can become an educational
experience in which an individual may learn the skill of independent thinking and will inevitably gain
new insights into themselves. These ideas are considered throughout the contemporary novel, Hatchet,
by Gary Paulsen in which the protagonist, Brian, undertakes tremendous trials. Through their
experiences, the protagonist obtains further knowledge about himself, others, and the world.
Through addressing barriers that have been thrust upon them, an individual will learn how to cope
with struggles in everyday life and gain increased knowledge about themselves. Hatchet is a novel
about a young city boy whose plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness while he is on his way to see
his father. All he has is a hatchet and a desperate will to survive. Your emotional state is very
important to how you act and this is evident when Brian was attempting to spear a fool bird. The
quote: They exasperated him to the point where they were driving him insane is a hyperbole that
demonstrates to what degree Brian is being challenged which teaches him better determination and
resilience. This is further reiterated in the quote: In the roaring plane with no pilot, he was alone.
Alone. which shows up in the text just before Brian crashes. This personification and repetition
teaches Brian about perseverance and the ability to be alone. This is also an example of truncated
sentences that

similar or same consequences across situations. Skinner believed that actions followed by a positive
effect tend to be repeated, while actions followed by negative effect were not. I believe the behaviorist
theory states that individuals develop certain behavior traits based off of their reaction to certain
events that they are presented with. This means that people act certain ways because of how they
handled situations that have occurred in their life. Introduction to Behavioral learning theory. For
example, inside the classroom, teachers could use this theory to help children behave correctly and
have a positive outlook on their schoolwork. By understanding the theory, teachers would recognize
that students need and want positive reinforcement. As a result of giving positive reinforcement,
students would continue to display the desired behavior. Skinner said that radical behaviorism
emphasizes a functional level of analysis that may be contrasted with mainstream psychology s
emphasis on essentialism. Behaviorism is a theory mostly developed by B.F. Skinner. Three basic
assumptions are held to be true. Learning is manifested by the change in behavior, the environment
shapes behavior and the reinforcement essential in explaining the process of learning. For behaviorism

Alien Ant Farm Smooth Criminal Analysis
In 2001, Alien Ant Farm s second album, ANThology, became a sensation on the strength of its first
single, a cover of Michael Jackson s Smooth Criminal. It is, by all means, a great cover, managing to
pay homage to the King of Pop while at the same time injecting a dose of punkish rock and humor to a
song about a murder. It was a huge hit, but it somewhat stereotyped the band as a one hit wonder, even
though the next two singles from the album, Movies and Attitude, were well received and ANThology
would eventually go platinum. But the hardcore fans of the group those who had bought their first self
released album Greatest Hits in 1999 and were ecstatic to now see them signed to a big label knew
much more than the casual listener. Alien Ant Farm was no one hit wonder. They rocked. And they
rocked hard. I was on the way to becoming one of those fans. Even though I hadn t heard Greatest
Hits, I had purchased ANThology on a whim, wanting to see if the spunk of Smooth Criminal would
be present in their original songwriting. It was and much more. This was an album difficult to
categorize just one listen and you knew these four California guys were into a bunch of different stuff,

Then came the second highlight of the evening, Attitude. I have always liked the funkier side of Alien
Ant Farm, and Attitude perfectly displays their wide range. Its infectious flow was evident in the jazzy
interplay between Peugh, Corso, and Cosgrove and the crowd s response to Mitchell s passionate call
of Your solitude is welcome / Your attitude is welcome. Two more songs and the band would close the
night with as expected an exuberant rendition of Michael Jackson s hit song. The fans jumped up and

Investigating the Relationship between Cell Size and Rate of Diffusion
Ban Madi
11 Dp Biology SL
Research Question: How does the size of the cell affect its efficiency in exchanging substances
through several ways, like diffusion?
Aim: To plan and carry out an investigation to show the relationship between volume/Cm3, surface
area, and diffusion using agar cubes measured in time/s; and to demonstrate, using diffusion, why the
size of cells is limited, keeping the room temperature and pressure constant.
Hypothesis: I expect to find that when the surface area to volume of a cell reaches a certain level,
diffusion alone won t be able to supply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conclusion:
The experiment proved my hypothesis correct that as the size of the Agar cube grows larger; the
diffusion rate will be slower therefore taking up more time. The cubes were put into hydrochloric acid
and left by, in order to exchange materials through diffusion, as a sample of cells in real life. As we
can see the cube with the largest surface area and volume has the smallest surface area to volume
ratio. If the surface area to volume ratio gets too small, then the substances won t be able to enter the
cell fast enough to fuel the reactions, because the surface area controls the rate of the exchange of
materials while as the volume grows larger it will need more materials to enter and exit, in a more
quicker rate, therefore waste products will start to accumulate within the cell as they will be produced
faster than they can be excreted. In addition, the cells will not be able to lose heat fast enough and so
may overheat. This was concluded from the experiment, where as the Agar cube dimension were
larger, the rate of diffusion was much smaller from the Agar cube with the smaller dimension, where
the last had a larger V: SA ratio than the larger cube.
Errors and Improvements:

The results showed that patients aged 65 years or over had a higher mean systolic and lower mean
diastolic blood pressure (p 0.001) in the office than those aged less than 65 years. Office mean arterial
blood pressures were also higher (p 0.001) in the older patients. For mean ambulatory blood pressure,
older patients had higher mean ambulatory systolic blood pressures than the younger age group, but
there were no differences in mean ambulatory diastolic blood pressure between the two groups. Men

pressures than women; however, women had higher systolic (p 0.008) and mean arterial office blood
pressures than men (Khoury et al 1992).
A similar result was gained in a study of 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in 352 healthy
Danish subjects aged 20 to 79 years. These participants were divided into groups of 25 to 30 subjects,
of each sex, across all age groups. Blood pressure monitoring was measured on the left arm every 15
minutes from 7am to 11pm and every 30 minutes from 11pm to 7am. The study found that systolic
blood pressure increased only slightly with age and was significantly higher in men than in women.
On the other hand, the diastolic blood pressure increased only slightly with age in both sexes until the
50 to 59 years age group, declined thereafter and was not statistically different between sexes
(Wiinberg et al 1995).

Becoming An Adult- Chronic Stressor
1.
School classes Daily hassle
Becoming an adult Chronic stressor
Deciding on a college Stressful event
Money Situations Chronic stressor
Family Problems Chronic stressor
2. There are many factors that could lead to the cause of a person s stress response. One includes any
life events or change to a person. Any transition that causes you to change and adjust your life style
can cause a great amount of stress, being that you cant go day to day like you may be use to. Whether
it may be a positive or negative, it tends to be stress producing. In my view i m optimistic about this
and try to see the bright side to things that may change my daily routine and think of it as it happened
for the best. Another factor that may cause a persons stress is somehow being a part of a traumatic
event. Events such as sexual assault, violence, or even unexpected loss of a loved one can stress a
person out so much that it changes the view of their life completely and can cause changes in ways
they carry themselves. It can cause symptoms such as nervousness and symptoms of anxiety which
escalate the amount of stress they experience. Daily hassles is common for everyones stress. Minor
things that seem to annoy or upset a person such as traffic on the way to work or misplacing your
shoes causes a hit of stress to go through your body. Gender usually plays a factor in what causes a
person to stress daily. Woman are more likely to stress about problems that deal with family and

Comparing Let Me Describe For You Her Eyes And Sonnet II
In the poems Let Me Describe for You Her Eyes by Glenn Colquhoun, and Sonnet XVIII by William
Shakespeare, both writers describe their experiences and ideas of love in two very contrasting ways,
which can reflect on the world around us, and helped me learn about the how different relationships
can affect people, and the world around them. Though their ideas may differ, both writers used similar
techniques, such as the use of an extended metaphor. Similarly, both writers tone and structure
supported their own ideas of what was like for them in the relationship of which they are writing, and
helps the readers, as well as myself, to understand the message which their poems portray. Both, have

Ethnic Stereotypes In Shortcomings By Adrian Tomine
Nicolette Jimenez COMM200 April 29, 2015 Shortcomings Author: Adrian Tomine As I read Adrian
Tomine s graphic novel, I came to find that it holds two meanings, the obvious that is the storyline,
and then the read between the lines meaning. In the text, the narrative is focused around the standing
of Ben and Miko s relationship. Ben lives in Berkeley, California with his politically active girlfriend,
Miko. In the beginning, we start to see the existing tension between the two. When Miko decides to
move to New York City for an internship, the tensions worsen. Ben meets up with his friend, Alice
Kim, and confides in her, expressing his concerns and annoyances with the situation. While Miko is
away, Ben decides to make his way around, and test the waters to see if actually wants to be with
Miko when she returns. Ultimately, underneath the tensions between the two, Ben is clearly
dissatisfied with himself and self conscious about his sex life. Rather, it has nothing to do with Miko
at all, and has everything to do with race/ethnic stereotypes, how they influence ones sense of identity,
and the way one view themself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tomine introduces 2 specific themes throughout the narrative; masculinity and sexual inadequacy.
However, Ben has to face the idea of discovering his identity by recognizing the stereotypes he will
face as being an Asian American male. The main way that Tomine does this, is by looking at what it
means to be an Asian American. By introducing the themes of masculinity and sexual inadequacy, he
enlarged the message that is, Ben being uncomfortable in his own skin. One of the stereotypes
surround Asian males is that they are lack in their sex

Compare And Contrast Thoreau And Walden
A Literary Analysis of works by Mary Oliver Henry David Thoreau
Author, Henry David Thoreau and Mary Oliver are both very passionate about nature and what it has
to offer in life, as well as the symbolism behind nature and its creatures in their works of literature, in
Walden , and The House of Light , Both authors discuss their views of nature and the beauty of the
world that they want to make familiar to their audience. In this essay, I ll provide my reasoning behind
this statement.
In Walden , Thoreau talks about his experience living at Walden pond for what he said was two years,
two months and two days where he for the most part, isolated himself from civilization and supported
himself with the help of no one else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We talk slowly, two women trying/ in a difficult time to be wise./ Roots in the cellar drains,/ I say, and
she replies/ that the leaves are getting heavier/ every year, and the fruit/ harder to gather away. (7 14)
Mary Oliver was symbolizing this tree as something more than just a tree. I feel that the roots in the
drain that were mentioned were symbolized as her family s roots that are connected to that tree, and
when she says the roots are in the cellar drains, to me that meant that those roots go back to a very
long time ago, maybe as far back as to when the tree was planted or when the house that it stands over
was built.
I really liked Thoreau s belief that the mainstream American lifestyle along with the technology of it
all has really lessened our overall experience of life itself. We re so caught up in wanting the newest

or what we see as necessities. The quote from Walden that says The mass of men lead lives of quiet

Frontier Airlines Swot Analysis

Nicholas II And Rasputin s Role In Imperial Russia During...
During World War I Nicholas II assumed supreme command of the Russian Army in September 1915.
Nicholas II s personal expectation of command grew out of one of the critical weaknesses of his reign:
his own incompetence as a ruler and as an individual. In addition to his naive belief that he shared a
personal communion with the Russian people, he ruled over a political system that could not function
without his immediate presence. This fact was not merely perceived in hindsight. When the Emperor
announced his decision to his cabinet, ten of the twelve ministers of state objected and tried to
convince him to reconsider. Tellingly, ministers in Imperial Russia served only at the pleasure of the
tsar and had no responsibility to the Duma, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eastern Front, was nearly impossible. Cavalry could no longer perform this traditional function
rapidly enough. Even though Russia had 250 airplanes at the start of the war, lack of spare parts (and
frequent shootdowns by Russian troops, who believed that only Germans could use such infernal
contraptions) kept most aircraft grounded and Russian commanders

Violence Is A Straightforward Premise
Violence has a straightforward premise. We have a tendency to focus on what Žižek calls subjective
violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war. However, there are two different
assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence found in speech , and systemic violence, the
often catastrophic consequences of the functioning of our economic and political systems . Žižek then
embarks to break down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally
on the systemic assortment.
What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts of violence
towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the members of their own
group. The display of contradictions is not in the least pointless: all the time it drives Žižek to turn up
real gems. His analysis of the suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed,
liberal working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the student protests
which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful energy and creativity! However a
main idea that stood out to me the most, was his idea on tolerance: My duty to be tolerant towards the
Other effectively means that I should not get too close him, intrude on his space. In other words, I
should respect his intolerance of my over proximity.
Philosopher Karl Popper further expands on Žižek s idea of Tolerance, by labeling it the Paradox of

For a more concrete example of how Despair manifests itself, one can turn to Kierkegaard s other writings. For instance, in Either, the aesthete lives almost purely in the finite world, absorbed with the fleeting amusements in life. On the other hand, the ethical in Or lives in an infinite world of moral principle. At the same time, neither the aesthete nor the ethical judge are fully immersed in their respective worlds, because they are human. Thus, they are a relationship between the infinite and the finite. Both individuals have elements of each aspect in their lives, no matter how imbalanced. If there is not a single human being who does not despair a little, there is also not a single human being who only despairs (52). However, these individuals still falsely relate the content of the self, or their identity, to either just the finite or just the infinite, and therefore they fail to be truly self conscious and remain in a stage of false relation. To be human is to be in despair, and to be in despair is to be human. They are two interconnected, inseparable identities. Humans are inherently self conscious and reflective beings, but to be completely conscious of self, one has to understand the condition of self. The human, as a relation ... • 9. Albert Bandura Bobo Doll Theory Though out this paper we will be discussing the Bobo doll experiment that was conducted by Albert Bandura in 1961 at Stanford University. We will touch on the history and theory of the Bobo doll experiment. We will discuss how human behavior and the mental process was used, and how nature versus nurture influences this study. We will discuss the meaning of social observational learning and if and how it was used during this research experiment. This research was unethical, not only in my opinion, but based off the American Psychological Association Code of Ethic, we will discuss more of the ethical boundaries that were broken, later on. I selected to research Bandura s Bobo Doll experiment. This experiment, based off of social learning and was conducted by Canadian Psychologist Albert Bandura in 1961. According to Salem Press Encyclopedia Of Health, the Bobo doll experiment was designed to investigate the role of observational learning in social behavior; specifically, the role of observation of aggressive behavior toward an inanimate object in children s subsequent behavior in the absence of the adult model. (Dillon 2017) Bandura completed this experiment by testing 82 children, ranging from ages three six years old from the nursery at Stanford University. The Bobo Doll was an inflatable toy, that resembles the average size of a young child. • 19. The Process Of Survival In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen The process of survival is a basis laid upon many significant factors and it can become an educational experience in which an individual may learn the skill of independent thinking and will inevitably gain new insights into themselves. These ideas are considered throughout the contemporary novel, Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen in which the protagonist, Brian, undertakes tremendous trials. Through their experiences, the protagonist obtains further knowledge about himself, others, and the world. Through addressing barriers that have been thrust upon them, an individual will learn how to cope with struggles in everyday life and gain increased knowledge about themselves. Hatchet is a novel about a young city boy whose plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness while he is on his way to see his father. All he has is a hatchet and a desperate will to survive. Your emotional state is very important to how you act and this is evident when Brian was attempting to spear a fool bird. The quote: They exasperated him to the point where they were driving him insane is a hyperbole that demonstrates to what degree Brian is being challenged which teaches him better determination and resilience. This is further reiterated in the quote: In the roaring plane with no pilot, he was alone. Alone. which shows up in the text just before Brian crashes. Skinner believed that behavior is maintained from one condition to another through similar or same consequences across situations. Skinner believed that actions followed by a positive effect tend to be repeated, while actions followed by negative effect were not. I believe the behaviorist theory states that individuals develop certain behavior traits based off of their reaction to certain events that they are presented with. This means that people act certain ways because of how they handled situations that have occurred in their life. Introduction to Behavioral learning theory. For example, inside the classroom, teachers could use this theory to help children behave correctly and have a positive outlook on their schoolwork. By understanding the theory, teachers would recognize that students need and want positive reinforcement. As a result of giving positive reinforcement, students would continue to display the desired behavior. Skinner said that radical behaviorism emphasizes a functional level of analysis that may be contrasted with mainstream psychology s emphasis on essentialism. Conclusion: The experiment proved my hypothesis correct that as the size of the Agar cube grows larger; the diffusion rate will be slower therefore taking up more time. The cubes were put into hydrochloric acid and left by, in order to exchange materials through diffusion, as a sample of cells in real life. As we can see the cube with the largest surface area and volume has the smallest surface area to volume ratio. If the surface area to volume ratio gets too small, then the substances won t be able to enter the cell fast enough to fuel the reactions, because the surface area controls the rate of the exchange of materials while as the volume grows larger it will need more materials to enter and exit, in a more quicker rate, therefore waste products will start to accumulate within the cell as they will be produced faster than they can be excreted. In addition, the cells will not be able to lose heat fast enough and so may overheat. This was concluded from the experiment, where as the Agar cube dimension were larger, the rate of diffusion was much smaller from the Agar cube with the smaller dimension, where the last had a larger V: SA ratio than the larger cube. Errors and Improvements: Error Improvement Parallax error, resulting in a misreading in volume. This is caused by reading the volume readings from an angle, thus to ... In the beginning, we start to see the existing tension between the two. When Miko decides to move to New York City for an internship, the tensions worsen. Ben meets up with his friend, Alice Kim, and confides in her, expressing his concerns and annoyances with the situation. While Miko is away, Ben decides to make his way around, and test the waters to see if actually wants to be with Miko when she returns. Ultimately, underneath the tensions between the two, Ben is clearly dissatisfied with himself and self conscious about his sex life. Rather, it has nothing to do with Miko at all, and has everything to do with race/ethnic stereotypes, how they influence ones sense of identity, and the way one view themself. ... However, Ben has to face the idea of discovering his identity by recognizing the stereotypes he will face as being an Asian American male. The main way that Tomine does this, is by looking at what it means to be an Asian American. By introducing the themes of masculinity and sexual inadequacy, he enlarged the message that is, Ben being uncomfortable in his own skin. One of the stereotypes surround Asian males is that they are lack in their sex ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Compare And Contrast Thoreau And Walden A Literary Analysis of works by Mary Oliver Henry David Thoreau Author, Henry David Thoreau and Mary Oliver are both very passionate about nature and what it has to offer in life, as well as the symbolism behind nature and its creatures in their works of literature, in Walden , and The House of Light , Both authors discuss their views of nature and the beauty of the world that they want to make familiar to their audience. In this essay, I ll provide my reasoning behind this statement. In Walden , Thoreau talks about his experience living at Walden pond for what he said was two years, two months and two days where he for the most part, isolated himself from civilization and supported himself with the help of no one else. ... We talk slowly, two women trying/ in a difficult time to be wise./ Roots in the cellar drains,/ I say, and she replies/ that the leaves are getting heavier/ every year, and the fruit/ harder to gather away. (7 14) Mary Oliver was symbolizing this tree as something more than just a tree. I feel that the roots in the drain that were mentioned were symbolized as her family s roots that are connected to that tree, and when she says the roots are in the cellar drains, to me that meant that those roots go back to a very long time ago, maybe as far back as to when the tree was planted or when the house that it stands over was built. I really liked Thoreau s belief that the mainstream American lifestyle along with the technology of it all has really lessened our overall experience of life itself. We re so caught up in wanting the newest iphone or fanciest car, instead of taking time to enjoy life as it is, without the unnecessary accessories or what we see as necessities. Within this competency, I was to make good ethical decisions, use reflection and self regulation, demonstrate professional demeanor within communication, use technology ethically and appropriately and finally use supervision and consultation to guide professional judgment and behavior. This competency was important because it grounded the NASW, ethics, and professionalism into my field placement and ensured that I was following these important aspects of the social work field. On the drive to the church, Khalil told Rebecca that he despised his work at the Navy Department. It s tough working on a project that leads to destruction of human life, he said. Rebecca didn t respond. At least, I have a job; one that pays more than I expected. He let the subject drop. He didn t want to spoil this night of wonders. Now, however, as the incense swirled to the heavens, Khalil prayed: God give me a sign that my work on this military effort is justified. • 36. Nicholas II And Rasputin s Role In Imperial Russia During... During World War I Nicholas II assumed supreme command of the Russian Army in September 1915. Nicholas II s personal expectation of command grew out of one of the critical weaknesses of his reign: his own incompetence as a ruler and as an individual. In addition to his naive belief that he shared a personal communion with the Russian people, he ruled over a political system that could not function without his immediate presence. This fact was not merely perceived in hindsight. When the Emperor announced his decision to his cabinet, ten of the twelve ministers of state objected and tried to convince him to reconsider. • 37. Violence Is A Straightforward Premise Violence has a straightforward premise. We have a tendency to focus on what Žižek calls subjective violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war. However, there are two different assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence found in speech , and systemic violence, the often catastrophic consequences of the functioning of our economic and political systems . Žižek then embarks to break down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally on the systemic assortment. What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts of violence towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the members of their own group. The display of contradictions is not in the least pointless: all the time it drives Žižek to turn up real gems. His analysis of the suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed, liberal working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the student protests which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful energy and creativity! However a main idea that stood out to me the most, was his idea on tolerance: My duty to be tolerant towards the Other effectively means that I should not get too close him, intrude on his space. In other words, I should respect his intolerance of my over proximity. Philosopher Karl Popper further expands on Žižek s idea of Tolerance, by labeling it the Paradox of ...
