● Digital video for interactive media.
● Soundtrack production for moving image.
What will I be doing?
You will be planning & producing an interactive
film, with branching storyline options and a
creative, original sound design.
What assignments will I need to submit?
This project will be made up of 6 assignments:
● 2 written essays
● 1 planning portfolio
● 1 detailed audio planning portfolio
● A variety of audio recordings for your film.
● An interactive film, uploaded to a video on demand
platform.

What is interactivity?
The process of two things
working together, and
influencing each other.
An action, and a consequence.
What is ‘interactive video’?
A video which the user can control, or interact with.
This can be through the use of clickable hotspots or
buttons that perform an action when pressed; through the
viewer having control over narrative choice; or through the
viewer selecting the field of view.
In traditional video the director is in control, but interactive
video gives the viewer agency / control.

Working alone, select 4 different videos from the list on Moodle. Watch &
interact with these and then write up a detailed case study, explaining:
● The videos purpose
● A detailed description of its narrative
● How the producers have used interactivity
● The benefits of interactivity to the video experience
● The drawbacks of interactivity to the video experience
● What platform the video is meant to be viewed on.
Task 2: Film showing
As part of your project you will be producing a “choose your own adventure” video.
Over Christmas the Interactive video ‘Bandersnatch’ has been making headlines.
We will watch it as a class and then discuss how the film-makers have used the
medium.
