IQ is a measurement of intelligence expressed as a number. It is calculated by taking an intelligence test and comparing the score to average scores among peers. Common tests used in India include the Stanford-Binet test, which measures general mental ability. IQ tests are used for educational and vocational guidance, classroom teaching, clinical assessment, and research. However, IQ is not a complete measure of a person's abilities and should be interpreted cautiously, as verbal IQ tests may not capture all types of intelligence and one test score does not define a person.

Although we might have come across this term plenty of times during our lives, we still need to set some standards so that we can distinguish a great score from an average one.
IQ is nothing but the number that a person scores after taking one of the many standardized tests to measure the intelligence level of individuals.
Originally, the intelligence quotient was calculated as the ratio of mental age and chronological age (IQ= MA/CA x 100, where MA is mental age, CA is chronological age). However, today, intelligence scores are calibrated against values of actual population scores
Introspection is a method of self observation
The word
Intro” means “within” and
“Spection” mean “looking”
Hence, it is a method where an individual is looking within one self
Stout considered that ‘to introspect’ is to attend to the working of one’s own mind in a systematic way
Wilhelm Wundt pioneered the use of a technique known as introspection
“The limitations of introspection can be overcome by practice and training, by remaining alert during introspection and by comparing results obtained by experts”

Designing digital comprehensive system to test and assess the intelligently b...ijfcstjournal
Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a ratio achieved by dividing the mental age over chronological age. There are
several ways to achieve a mental age and usually professionals use certain tests. In order to avoid having
decimals and facilitate calculations, the result of mental age/chronological age ration is multiplied by 100.
IQ tests are used to determine IQ value. Tests and methods available to determine IQ have shortcomings
such as time-consuming nature of the tests, non-comprehensive tests, non-systematic tests, etc. This article
seeks to design a comprehensive digital system for testing and evaluating children's IQ according to
Wechsler's Intelligence Theory to solve problems of the tests and methods available.

What is an IQ testing | IQ Score | IQ LevelSteve Davis
IQ tests, short for intelligence quotient tests, are designed to measure cognitive abilities like problem-solving, reasoning, and logic. They present a variety of challenges and analyze your performance compared to others in your age group. The resulting score aims to offer a snapshot of your intellectual potential.
However, IQ testing is a complex topic with ongoing debate. While it can be a valuable tool in some situations, it's important to understand its limitations. Here's a breakdown:
What IQ Tests Measure: IQ tests typically involve multiple sections assessing various cognitive skills. These might include verbal reasoning (understanding and using language), spatial reasoning (visualizing and manipulating objects), working memory (holding and manipulating information), and processing speed (how quickly you can complete tasks).
Uses of IQ Tests: IQ assessments can serve various purposes, including:
Educational Placement: Identifying gifted students or those needing extra support.
Cognitive Evaluation: Assessing intellectual disabilities or learning difficulties.
Research: Studying human intelligence and its development. (Note: Rarely used for job selection due to limitations)
Beyond the Score: An IQ score is just one piece of the puzzle. Intelligence is multifaceted, encompassing creativity, emotional intelligence, social skills, and practical knowledge. Life experiences and cultural background can also influence performance on IQ tests.
Is IQ Testing Right for You?
If you're curious about IQ testing, consulting a psychologist is the best first step. They can determine if testing is appropriate and explain the results in detail. Remember, an IQ score doesn't define your intelligence or potential. It's just one tool for understanding your cognitive strengths.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. WHAT IS IQ?
IQ is an acronym for Intelligence Quotient.
So what is IQ? The IQ is a measurement of
your intelligence and is expressed in a
number.
A person's IQ can be calculated by having
the person take an intelligence test. The
average IQ is 100. If you achieve a score
higher than 100, you are smarter than the
average person, and a lower score means
you are (somewhat) less smart.
3. DEFINITION OF IQ :
Measure of a person’s cognitive capacity
relative to his or her peers. It is computed by
dividing the person’s mental age(as
measured on a scale such as Stanford Binet
scale) by his or her chorological age, and
multiplying with 100.
4. HOW TO CALCULATE IQ…?
The development of NORMS allow us to
compare one person’s test results to
another's.
Binet’s concept of MENTAL AGE led to the
development of the INTELLIGENCE
QUOTIENT.(IQ)
MENTAL AGE/CHRONOGICAL AGE*100

16. WHAT ARE THE USES AND LIMITATIONS OF
INTELLIGENCE TESTS?
1. For Vocational and Educational
Guidance: For certain vocations, we need a
certain level of intelligence. That is known by
tests of intelligence. Intelligence tests are
very useful in educational guidance, i.e., the
child can select the subject in the light of his
I.Q. other than his aptitude.
17. CONTINUES…..
2. Useful in Class-room Teaching :
Intelligence tests are useful in class-room
teaching. The results of intelligence tests are
of great help to a teacher in assigning work
to individual students.
They are especially useful in the early part of
a teacher’s contact with a particular class as

10. Promotion:
Also used for promotion of students to the
next class
11. For Knowledge about Self :
Intelligence tests can tell you about your own
intelligence and you can improve upon it
21. CAUTIONS WHILE USING AN INTELLIGENCE TEST
1. The teacher must recognize that I.Q. (especially from
verbal tests) is not a complete measure of a person’s worth.
It is an indication of only one limited type of ability.
A person may have a good level of ability in many other non-
verbal aspects of living, i.e., mechanical, social, artistic and
musical. A child whose score on scholastic aptitude test is
low should in no way be rejected.
2. Verbal group tests of intelligence must be supplemented
by other types of intelligence tests.
3. Results of intelligence tests should not be declared to the
students in a way so as to label a particular student once for
all with a particular I.Q.
4. In case it is suspected that the child was emotionally
disturbed at the time of testing, results should be considered
quite tentative.
5. An I.Q. of 70 should be interpreted as an I.Q. somewhere
between 60 and 80.
