• The music industry uses a range of media platforms to promote artists music
videos to be able to spread it as much as possible for most sales and profit.
Record labels also release as much news and personality of their artists in order
to intrigue their target audience and maximize concerts, songs, album, and
merchandise sales.
• Magazines are also used to attract new fans as their theme is often correspondent
to the sub-genre of the artist. For example, the popular XXL magazine which
promotes upcoming rappers by creating a ’freshman class’ every year and they
perform a cypher to attract a niche audience.

3. MARKETING
• Artists use a lot of cross-media production in order to promote their character
and upcoming music, one way they do this is going on popular radio shows, this
displays an artists personality so fans can feel more connected to their favorite
musicians and receive updates on their daily lives. This can impact an audience as
they may relate to the artist too creating a further connectiveness.

4. DISTRIBUTION
• Music videos are distributed through a wide range of technical media, with the
main form of distribution in this digital age being Spotify, Apple Music,
YouTube, and Soundcloud as they're easily accessible for any age group and
gender. Distribution has changed massively throughout time as record companies
had to create thousands of copies of albums or singles and place them in stores
all around the world and artist revenue was decreased due to this method. This
technology which creates these savings however has downsides as the mp3 and
mp4 files can easily be pirated through YouTube converters and other online
services

5. BUDGET
• Many record labels use a high revenue in order to produce creative and high
quality music videos for their fans, this is due to competition being very fierce and
audience members expect a lot to come from their artists videos. The cost of a
professional music video varies from $2000 to $800,000 and this usually covers
concept development, storyboards, casting, on-camera talent, choreography,
rehearsals, location fees, props, costumes, production equipment, and etc., with
my music video I will be using a small budget, and deluxe locations to represent
the richness and popularity of the artist.

6. FUNDING
• Many popular & mainstream artists receive funding from their record labels and
they often create profit from the success and popularity of the video. However,
smaller artists who are just starting up and do not have the funds to create their
video can look for investors willing to cover the cost, however it is a win/loss
situation as if the video fails then the artist would owe money. Most artists move
towards funding sites such as GoFundMe and Indiegogo to promote their single
and request donations to be able to produce the video.

7. SOCIAL MEDIA
• The way I will be incorporating marketing into my promotion process is social
media. We live in a society run by media, so I will be sharing my digipack,
website and music video on multiple platforms in order to get it passed on.
Outlets such as Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter.
