The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. Warner Bros. is an American producer of film, television, and music
entertainment. One of the major film studios, it is a subsidiary of Time
Warner, with its headquarters in Burbank, California and New York. Warner
Bros. has several subsidiary companies, including Warner Bros. Studios,
Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Bros.
Television, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video, New Line Cinema,
TheWB.com, and DC Entertainment. Warner owns half of The CW Television
Network. Warner Bros. businesses range from feature film and TV to home
entertainment production and worldwide distribution to home video, digital

and broadcasting.

Warner Bros. Entertainment created WARNER BROS. HOME
ENTERTAINMENT (WBHE) to bring together all of its businesses
involved in the delivery of home entertainment content to
consumers. Warner Bros. Home Video is the industry leader with a
21% market share in total DVD and Blu-ray sales. Warner Bros Home
Entertainment also remains the category leader, working across
platforms and outlets in the digital realm with video-on-demand,
branded channels, original content, anti-piracy technology and
broadband & wireless destinations. Each year Warner Bros Pictures
produces between 18 and 22 films. Warner Bros has produced more
than 50 television series in the 2012-2013 television seasons alone.
The Home Entertainment group consists of Warner Bros. Interactive
Entertainment, Warner Television group.
7. Warner Brothers as a distribution company
Part of the Warner Bros. WBDD also distributes content through third party digital
retailers and licensees. A worldwide industry leader since its inception, WBDD manages
the Studio’s e-commerce sites that include WBShop.com and WarnerArchive.com.
WBDD is further charged with managing the Studio’s retail and consumer transition of
product produced by Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
from a purely packaged distribution scheme to one that supports both packaged and
digital distribution, as well as both standard and high definition formats.
Warner Bros. Animation is one of the leading producers of animation in the
entertainment industry, with an innovative and talent-rich roster boasting some of the
most accomplished writers, producers and artists working today. WBA is home to the
iconic animated characters from the DC Comics, Hanna-Barbera, MGM and Looney
Tunes libraries. Warner Bros has also seamlessly incorporated DC Comics content into
Warner Bros. Entertainment via the creation of the DC Entertainment division, which was
founded in 2009. DC Entertainment, which is wholly owned by the Company, is
responsible for bringing the stories and characters from the DC Comics, Vertigo and
