INTRODUCTION
Time Warner Inc. is an American multinational media corporation
headquartered in the Time Warner Center in New York City. As of mid-2010,
it was the world’s second largest media and entertainment conglomerate in
terms of revenue (behind The Walt Disney Company), as well as the world’s
largest media conglomerate.
Warner Bros. is an American producer of film, television, and music
entertainment. One of the major film studios, it is a subsidiary of Time
Warner, with its headquarters in Burbank, California and New York. Warner
Bros. has several subsidiary companies, including Warner Bros. Studios,
Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Bros.
Television, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Home Video, New Line Cinema,
TheWB.com, and DC Entertainment. Warner owns half of The CW Television
Network. Warner Bros. businesses range from feature film and TV to home
entertainment production and worldwide distribution to home video, digital
distribution, animation, comic books, licensing and international cinemas
and broadcasting.
HISTORY
◦ Warner brothers was founded on April 4th 1923 by the brothers Albert, Sam, Harry and Jack.
◦ The company became famous for it’s release of the world’s first synchronised feature film
referred to as a ‘talkie.’
◦ Since that moment it has amassed an impressive legacy based on world class quality
entertainment and technological foresight. This created diversity for the company.
◦ The company was one of the first to produce a number of socially significant films about topical
issues.
◦ Most successful theatre company in history.

WARNER BRO PICTURES
has been at the forefront of the motion picture industry since its
inception and continues to be a leading creative force in the
industry. Warner Bros. Pictures produces and distributes a wide-
ranging slate of some 18-22 films each year, employing a
business paradigm that mitigates risk while maximizing
productivity and capital. Warner Bros. Pictures either fully
finances or co-finances the films it produces and maintains
worldwide distribution rights. It also monetizes its distribution
and marketing operations by distributing films that are totally
financed and produced by others. Current multi-faceted co-
financing joint ventures include those with Village Roadshow
Pictures, Castle Rock Entertainment and Legendary Pictures.
Warner Bros. Pictures also has a distribution, co-financing deal
with Alcon Entertainment. New Line Cinema is a part of warner
bros pictures group, Building on more than four decades of
innovation and creativity, New Line Cinema continues its long
and successful history of producing critically acclaimed hit films
that resonate with both mainstream and niche audiences around
the world. The Pictures group also include the Warner Brothers
Pictures International;
WARNER BROS. PICTURES INTERNATIONAL is a global
leader in the marketing and distribution of feature films,
operating offices in more than 30 countries and releasing
films in over 120 international territories, either directly to
theatres or in conjunction with partner companies and co-
ventures. WBPI meets worldwide tastes and demands with
a diverse mix of filmed entertainment produced primarily
by Warner Bros. Pictures but also generated or co-
financed by such entities as Castle Rock Entertainment,
Village Roadshow Pictures, Alcon Entertainment and
Legendary Pictures, among others. It has has pioneered a
number of initiatives and strategies that anticipate
tremendous growth and change within the global
entertainment marketplace.
In 2012, the Warner Bros. Pictures Group grossed $4.3
billion at the worldwide box office ($1.66 billion domestic,
$2.67 international) with both its domestic and
international divisions crossing the billion-dollar mark for
a 12th consecutive year, a feat unmatched by any other
studio. The Pictures Group has exceeded $4 billion
globally for four consecutive years, also a milestone no
other studio has ever achieved.
Warner bros home entertainment
Warner Bros. Entertainment created WARNER BROS. HOME
ENTERTAINMENT (WBHE) to bring together all of its businesses
involved in the delivery of home entertainment content to
consumers. Warner Bros. Home Video is the industry leader with a
21% market share in total DVD and Blu-ray sales. Warner Bros Home
Entertainment also remains the category leader, working across
platforms and outlets in the digital realm with video-on-demand,
branded channels, original content, anti-piracy technology and
broadband & wireless destinations. Each year Warner Bros Pictures
produces between 18 and 22 films. Warner Bros has produced more
than 50 television series in the 2012-2013 television seasons alone.
The Home Entertainment group consists of Warner Bros. Interactive
Entertainment, Warner Television group.
Warner Brothers as a distribution company
Part of the Warner Bros. WBDD also distributes content through third party digital
retailers and licensees. A worldwide industry leader since its inception, WBDD manages
the Studio’s e-commerce sites that include WBShop.com and WarnerArchive.com.
WBDD is further charged with managing the Studio’s retail and consumer transition of
product produced by Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
from a purely packaged distribution scheme to one that supports both packaged and
digital distribution, as well as both standard and high definition formats.
Warner Bros. Animation is one of the leading producers of animation in the
entertainment industry, with an innovative and talent-rich roster boasting some of the
most accomplished writers, producers and artists working today. WBA is home to the
iconic animated characters from the DC Comics, Hanna-Barbera, MGM and Looney
Tunes libraries. Warner Bros has also seamlessly incorporated DC Comics content into
Warner Bros. Entertainment via the creation of the DC Entertainment division, which was
founded in 2009. DC Entertainment, which is wholly owned by the Company, is
responsible for bringing the stories and characters from the DC Comics, Vertigo and
MAD Magazine publishing portfolios into other Warner Bros. content and distribution
businesses, including feature films, television programming, video games, direct-to-
consumer platforms and consumer products. The DC Comics imprint, home to such
iconic characters as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, has
launched digital versions of its top comic book and graphic novel titles, making them
available for download on digital platforms.
