Historical Background Of The Golden Summer Of 1991
(III) The Golden Summer of 1991
A] Historical Background:
India followed Import Substitution Industrialization policy up to 1991. The major highlights of this
policy included significant restrictions on imports (ensured by high tariffs and import control), limited
incentives to private sector, a large public sector (with focus on heavy industries) and an overvalued
exchange rate. Furthermore, there were restrictions on consumer goods too. Quantitative restrictions
such as import licensing and exchange control existed too. All of these policy measures were part and
parcel of what is known as barriers to an economy. The quantitative restrictions prevented the opening
up of the Indian economy. Thus, integration of India with the global village was to wait till 1991.
The period from 1976 to 1991 is known as ad hoc liberalization. It is during this period that businesses
in India began lobbying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Items placed under this list did not require licenses to be produced or to be traded. The number of
items placed in the list gradually increased.
(ii) Anti labour stance was adopted by the Government during this period. The aroma of capitalism
was in the air. Pro business policies were being formulated though not implemented. It can be said that
the Government made a departure from socialist policies.
Politically speaking, in 1978 Janata Party formed the Government. The Janata Pary Government had
thought of modifying India s economic policy in order to attract foreign investment and to encourage
participation of private sector. However, ad hoc liberalization began during Rajiv Gandhi s tenure as
the P.M. in 1980s. The Rajiv Gandhi Government introduced partial economic reforms to relax
restrictions on industrial license and on import export prices.
It should be understood that the 1991 economic reforms were not wholly a knee jerk reaction to the
economic crisis that shook India in the same

Essay On Native American Witchcraft
This article is about witchcraft and its different varieties of practices in different cultures. This article
explains how witchcraft exists and plays an essential part in structural and functional aspects of a
society. It also sheds the light on the journey of witchcraft from being profane and wicked to
acceptable part of a culture.
INTRODUCTION
It is said that man, to survive, has always needed something or some belief to hold on; be it science,
religion or magic. Man without a belief lacks hope (Walker, 1997). Lack of hope makes a man
vulnerable to unforeseen circumstances. To avoid this vulnerability man has been holding onto
different belief systems.
One of the many old belief systems is witchcraft and sorcery. It is often believed that ... Show more

Moon celebrations that coincide with phases of moon are held where the witches perform magic to
help make them spiritually developed and strong as well as protect them. The main tool used in this
ritual is a knife known as sacred blade or Athame (world of Wicca, 2014).
NATIVE AMERICAN WITCHCRAFT
In Native American witchcraft, amulets and charms play the central role. Practitioners of one region
dress similarly as well as use same kind of totems to have a sense of unity with each other. For them
land is considered as deity that provides them with objects necessary for witchcraft and magic. These
objects come in many shapes and forms. These may include herbs, stones, feathers, bones etc (world
of Wicca, 2014).
INDIAN WITCHCRAFT
For centuries India, due to its rich history, has been one of the biggest hubs of witchcraft. One of the
common practices in Indian witchcraft to protect oneself from demons, evils spirits and the one likes
involves a special food that is cooked by means of fire in which certain types of birds nested. This
food is considered to drive demonic spirits away

Gustav Mahler was born in 1860 in the small town of Kalischt, Bohemia. He was a late romantic era
composer. He was one of the leading conductors of his generation. Mahler was a bridge between the
19th century Austro German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. In 1897 he was the
director of the Vienna Court Opera. He stayed in Vienna for 10 years, but during that time he got a lot
of opposition from the Anti Semitic Press. His awesome productions and high production standards
gave him the name of Greatest of Opera Conductors. Composing was only his part time job as living
as a conductor was his full time. Most of his pieces are for large orchestra forces, symphonic choruses,
and operatic soloists.

He left his school in 1878 with a diploma but no silver medal for outstanding achievement. Gustav
went to the University of Vienna for a year studying litature and philosophy. He than went on to
becomes a piano teacher, while still composing. His first composition while including other influences
also had something else that some called Pure Mahler. His first performance was delayed till 1901 so
they could make a shortened version of it. Gustav was interested in German Philosophy and got
introduced to the works of Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche, Gustav Fechner and Hermann
Lotze. These thinkers influenced Gustav s music long after his student years.
In 1881 Mahler did his first full scale opera with a small but resourceful company. After his six month
engagement he returned to Vienna and worked as a part time chorus master. In 1883 Mahler started his
first real job as a conductor but had a poor relationship with the orchestra but despite that he made 5
new operas there and won over the press that earlier had insulted his work. He then went on to the
Royal Theater and after only a week was titled the theaters musical and choral director. Despite what
the name makes you think the guy in charge of the music at the theater hated Mahler and make it his
goal to make him miserable. He than got a six year contract with Leipzip Opera starting in 1886. Not
willing to let the boss of music give him crap for another year in 1885 he started an

Turkey automotive industry provides its products by importation. As shown in Table 5, Renault, Tofaş

the other hand Ford has mostly pickups share in Turkey. When buses are considered, Mercedes has the

Oswald Chest Cobblepot In Gotham
Gotham, a crime show, has a cast of interesting archetypes who contribute to the show in their own
ways. One such character is Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, who is the former umbrella man of Fish
Mooney, a crime lady of Gotham (the city). He is also a wingman of Salviatore Maroni, who is a mob
boss in Gotham. Lastly, he is a spy for Carmine Falcone, who is the head of the Gotham City mobs
and the underworld boss. Oswald Cobblepot, nicknamed The Penguin, because of his penguin style
walking, is at first a timid sycophant who uses his devious plans to manipulate others to achieve goals
for Fish Mooney and eventually Carmine Falcone. He has high intellect and is adept at manipulating
others with the resources he is given. However, by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gives Falcone to ability to sell off the worthless fellow to the GCPD so he can be killed, but by
using trickery as the trickster is known to do, Cobblepot provides valuable information to Falcone in
order to be killed off by Detective James Gordon of the GCPD, who Cobblepot knows is a trustworthy
officer, and won t kill him. This is an external struggle between the person and death that Cobblepot is
faced with. A major internal struggle he faces is when he decides to betray Falcone in order to become
the king of Gotham. Essentially, this is the transition from being a trickster to the villain who would
now be the main target for the hero, James Gordon. Cobblepot struggles with whether to stay loyal to
his savior or to betray the one who gave him new life and struggles to answer this question. Oswald
Cobblepot is a trickster and because of his ability to deceive people to meet his ends, his biggest
challenge is against death. Similarly to deceiving people, life almost deceives him when he sells off
Fish Mooney. In a way, death is deceptive that it comes face to face with him at an unexpected time,
similar to how he unexpectedly exposes his boss at a random given

The Athletes Should Not Be Banned
My invention would be for any age they would be able to wear it whenever they want. It would be for
people from 8 months and up until 105 year old. This would be for all the genders I would make them
for girls or boy they would be able to wear them at any time if it s cold or hot. The people that I think
would wear them the most would be able to wear them at any time if it s cold or hot. The people that i
think would be able to wear them the most would be the athletes because they play sports if it s hot or
cold. Both amature and professional would be able to use this it doesn t take much skill to unzip and
zip them. Both disabled and nondisabled would be able to use them or someone else would do unzip
them or zip them.
I say both could use them all you would have to do is zip them and unzip them all you would have to
dois zip them and unzip nothing else. No I couldn t find other pants like mine and if their is the thing
that makes mine different is that it would have a zipper at the bottom so you wouldn t have to take
your shoes off. You would only unzip the bottom and the top so they can turn into shorts. They would
also come in the color you like Blue, Black, Pink etc. The biggest size you would be able to get will
be XXL and the smallest would be XS for all ages. There will also be for babies there would be for all
the sizes for babies so everyone would be able to wear them.
The functionality would be just to zip it off so they would turn into shorts. This

A Study On The Big Data
Abstract Big data is a very important subject in modern times with the rapid advancement of new
technologies for example smartphones, pc/laptops, game consoles, that all in some way gather
information that is stored. Big companies are needing a place to not only store all the data that is
coming in but to also analyze it for specific purposes and at the fastest speed manageable. There are
many different providers out there who provide this service, this paper will talk about one way the
company Google handles data using their own special made platform.
1. INTRODUCTION
In modern times, the amount of data being stored is terrifically large. Companies must deal with such
abundance of data on a daily basis in both storing and analyzing as ... Show more content on

Management of big data is useful with how it is used. Ways to use the stored information include, but
not limited to, reduction of costs, time reductions, and making smart decisions based on data results.
[1] These results are important for banking, retail, government, etc...., which use the information to
noticed habits of people who provided the info. It not only helps notice habits of people but also helps
figuring out trends and what news is big from following data from social media. [1]
3. WHAT IS THE CLOUD Figure 1 representation of the cloud
The cloud, or cloud computing (basically internet computing), is a net based resource that allows
sharing computer resources without the need of local servers.[2] Not only does it not make us of local
servers but it does not make use of one s hard drive. This allows your hard drive to not lose memory
from whatever it is that is being saved.
The benefit of being able to save/store data on the cloud instead of a local hard drive or a local server
is being able to access much needed files from anywhere. Anywhere includes a variety of devices,
such as cell phone/mobile devices, desktops/laptops, gaming devices, as shown in figure 1 above.
These devices will work provided that they have an active internet connection.
Once connected, a cloud could be either set in private or public mode, depending on a companies or
individuals priority for the safety of the data. Even though it seems that there is a general theme,

American Jury History
A jury is a certain number of men or women, selected by law, grouped together to decide the verdict of
a case. ( What is JURY? ) They play an important role in our system of justice. In the United State a
jury hears testimony and evidence of the case to determine if that is enough to move forward. Over the
years the jury system has evolved immensely and has improved. Roles have become different, some
roles in the jury system have been discontinued and others have been added. In the early days of the
American jury, many of the laws and roles were modeled after British Parliamentary and English
common law. (Hans, Valerie P.) It was expected to do this seeing as this is what type of system
colonists were familiar with. However, they were rebels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are criminal grand juries and civil/criminal petit juries (Types of Jury) The United States is the
only country that uses grand juries in criminal indictment. Grand juries played a huge role in public
issues in the early years of the country. Grand juries were able to conduct investigations following a
citizen bringing a matter to them. They handled anything from repairs for public works, a public
officials conduct, and complaint of crime. (Types of Jury) They served as a screening tool to see which
cases were worth handling and which were malicious/incompetent. Petit juries are made of up to 12
people. In a civil case, petit jury listens to evidence and decides if the defendant has harmed or failed
to complete a legal duty to the plaintiff. They decide if the defendant has done what they have been
charged for. (About Jury Service) In a criminal case, if a person is accused of a crime that is
punishable by incarceration for more than six months it is their constitutional right to trial by jury.
However, if it is less than six months trial by jury is not required and the state can decide whether or
not to proceed with a trial. (Case Management and the Criminal Procedure Rules.

Change In The Music Of Today s Music Industry
Looking back at the music that everyone enjoyed a few decades ago, and then compare it to todays
genre of music there are many differences. In the past two decades alone there has been a drastic
change in the music that is considered popular. Going from a four man band that play instruments to
one person pressing buttons on a computer and using auto tune. The talent in today s music industry
has obviously declined over the years. As the music we listen to continues to change and trends come
and go, nobody really notices how it changes. With all of the technology and social websites in todays

Grotesque In The Carnival Classroom
The grotesque can also symbolize social issues that affect students lives and schoolwork poverty,
socioeconomic power relations and class differences, abuse, substance abuse, depression, identity, and
sexuality. Students are dealing with many of these things but they are not often allowed a place within
the classroom. Standard classrooms strive to operate in separate spheres from students lives and social
issues they are facing, but the carnival classroom would address those issues, much like the Feast of
Fools did. It is important for teachers to allow space for these issues in order to inspire disadvantaged
students to merge the learning platform with the platforms they are already on. Giving students full
range of freedom of voice in their writing assignments allowing cursing, sex, violence, etc. can not
only give an avenue to include the all consuming issues they are faced with, but also inspire them to
actually do writing assignments, thereby completing learning goals. In an article entitled, The

Camera Lucida By Roland Barthes
After Reading Camera Lucida written by Roland Barthes, I was both confused and interested by his
ideas. Though I did not understand much of the book, I was able to take a couple of his ideas and
really think about how I see photos. In the future, I intend to use these ideas when I look at photos.
One of his ideas that I was able to understand is the way he looks at pictures. The other one is his
second definition of punctum. The first of the two ideas that interested me the most was the way
Barthes looked at photos. He did not say that he liked a photo because it had his favorite animal or
color. He looked deeper into the photo. He looked to see what had caught his eye the most about a
photo he enjoyed. He called the catching of his eye the punctum. Barthes described the punctum as, ...
is that accident which pricks me... (Barthes 27). This prick didn t always hit him with every photo.
Throughout the book, he described certain photos that I thought were interesting, but he did not enjoy
them. An example of a photo that he didn t enjoy was the photo of the two nuns and three helmeted
soldiers, which was photographed by Koen Wessing in 1979. The main reason that it didn t appeal to
him was that it didn t have much of a, duality (Barthes 23) to it. Then there were photos that had
caught his eye. An example of an image he enjoyed and had his prick was a photo of an African
American family; photographed by James Van Der Zee in 1926. The family is not what the punctum
was. The

Through actions, we have expressed our ideas and beliefs we wish to convey to other people. Many
people have changed the world just by expressing in what they believe in.From Leonidas and the old

What Did Those Feet In Ancient Time Mean
Figurative Meaning of And Did Those Feet in Ancient Time In And Did Those Feet in Ancient Time,
William Blake conveys through his narrator a short poem of aggression and of a drive to build the city
of Jerusalem in England; however, figuratively, Blake writes of he sees as the unbelievable time that
the young Jesus of Nazareth and Joseph of Arimathea visited England. Using figuratively language,
imagery, and symbolism, Blake describes this and how the narrator wishes to fight in the word of the
Bible and usher in Heaven on Earth. Throughout the poem, the narrator uses multiple types of
figurative language. Such figurative language includes plenty of metaphors, many biblical and Greek
mythological allusions, personification, euphemism, and alliterations. The figurative language changes
the entire meaning of the text. In the poem, the narrator is literally becoming aggressive and wants to
build the city of Jerusalem in England. However, with knowledge of figurative language, the reader
can understand that the narrator speaks in metaphors and Biblical allusions. The poem is about Jesus
of Nazareth and Joseph of Arimathea s visit to Glastonbury, England, and how the narrator wishes to

There are many AIT schools; and at the schools you will get a hands on education and field instruction
to enhance your expertise in the chosen field. I will do AIT at the Engineering School, because of my
chosen job, Combat Engineer, also called Sappers. Sappers are very important to the success of any
Army mission. During the Advanced Individualized Training, as a Sapper, I will learn a wide variety
of engineering skills that may include: bridge building, structural maintenance, and electrical repair.
There are different tasks generally for Combat Engineers that go with the skills taught including:
building and constructing bridges, minefield clearance and detonation, and any other task requiring the
specialized skills, (www.wood.army.mil/sapper). Sappers sometimes work with other branches to clear
a route of obstacles and rivers for a convoy to pass or ground troops to pass. Detecting the mines will
be done visually as well as with detectors. Sometimes they have to fix floating bridges, so learning to
swim can be important. Also, they construct fighting, obstacle, and defensive positions during special
missions. Combat Engineers primarily supervise and serve or assist as a member of a team when
tackling rough terrain in combat situations. The expertise provides mobility, counter mobility,
survivability, and general engineering duties. To do all the duties I previously mentioned, you must
first take the Armed Services Vocational Battery and get at least an 87. I made a 99.6, which says I am

Creating dysfunction disrupts the societal equilibrium, then forcing society to adapt, to maintain
balance. Social disobedience is the vehicle which drives this societal dysfunction. Whether it is Malala
continuing to promote a woman s right to read in the Middle East, centers providing aid to people
escaping honour killings, Rosa Parks refusing to sit at the back of the bus, or taking down pro ISIS

to be disrupted. This can be done within a dominant culture or a subculture, creating a paradigm shift
within the acceptable norms of social interaction, and over time becoming the folkways of successive
generations.

Comparison Of King Lear And Gloucester Essay
Shakespeare uses subplots to dramatize the action of the play and give spark on the contrast for the
themes in King Lear. Sub plots usually improve the effect of dramatic irony and suspense. The latter,
which is used in King Lear, gives us the understanding of the emotions of the characters in the play.
This follows the parallelism between Gloucester and King Lear.
In King Lear, the subplot of Gloucester corresponds to the major plot of King Lear. Both fathers have
their own loyal legitimate child and their evil and disloyal child. They are both honourable men, who
have children that return to them in their time of need. Gloucester and Lear are both tormented, and

Gloucester does not have the tragic catastrophic death of King Lear. King Lear s anguish led him to
insanity while Gloucester is led to despair and attempts suicide. Before Gloucester s attempt at
suicide, he realizes that he has wronged Edgar and condemns his blindness of Edmund s plans.
My father, poorly led? World, world, O world! But that thy strange mutations make us hate thee, Life
would not yield to age. (Act 4 Scene 1 Pg. 207 lines 10 12) This parallels Lear s death as he also
condemns his daughter Cordelia. I have seen the day, with my good biting falchion I would have made
em skip. I am old now, And these same crosses spoil me. Who are you? Mine eyes are not o the best, I
ll tell you straight. (Act 5 Scene 3 pg. 317 lines 276 279) Both deaths run on the same train tracks, as
King Lear and Gloucester die as better and wiser men than they showed themselves at first.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare uses the contrast through other characters such as Cordelia and
Edgar, who hides in the beginning and then later reveal themselves to conquer and defeat evil forces.
Subplots do make the play better all around and make the audience want to know more and enjoy it.
Lear and Gloucester even are totally different people but live in a parallel world, they are

Data Collection And Analysis On Azerbaijan
Methodology
Overview
In this study research focuses on interviews with political officials, experts and secondary data
collection and analysis. The main part of the research stems from interviews in Azerbaijan 5
interviews, 2 interviews in Beijing, and two Skype interviews with international experts. Totally, I had
9 respondents to conduct my research. Of these, I did 7 face to face interviews, and other 2 interviews
were conducted via Skype video call. On January I travelled to Azerbaijan, Baku (to the capital city)
for gathering interviews and related important documents. Apart from interviews, my research focuses
on secondary data collection and analysis. With secondary data I mean various types of secondary

Sampling
As the topic is related to the political sphere many problems occurred during the sampling procedure.
The main focus of the study to identify the risk factors and their effects for Azerbaijan to be a
transport hub. Due to that reason I planned to do semi structured interviews with political officials,
scholars, from Azerbaijan to understand the officials points of view about the issue. Firstly, I started
with the help of Centre for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and I
did one of my interviews there. They referred me other experts who focus this study arena.
I would like to mention that finding respondents for my research was a little bit difficult. Because the
topic is related to political sphere. I was planning to do interviews with for instance, deputies of
National Assembly, senior advisors from Ministry of Transport of Azerbaijan, officials from Port of
Baku and so on. From this point of view, conducting my research I needed political official, scholars,
transport and logistics experts. First problem came from the topic. China s relationship with South
Caucasus, especially with Azerbaijan is brand new topic for scholars. Due to that reason finding
experts and scholar who has deep knowledge on this topic made problem for my sampling. As the
topic relates to sensitive issue limitations of answers during the

Teenage Birth Rate Essay
According to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), teen birth rate in the United
States (U.S.) has been continuously declined for the past 20 years, yet the U.S. is still ranked the
highest in teen pregnancy when compared to other developed nations (U.S. Department of Health
Human Services, 2016). The term teen pregnancy is denoting young females being pregnant or giving
birth under the age of 20. According to the CDC, in 2015, there were 229,715 babies born to
adolescent females ages between 15 19, or a total of 22.3 live births per 1,000 in this age group in the
United States; almost 89% of these births were from unmarried mothers (Centers for Disease Control

The study s aims were to uncover the prime motivators for early sexual involvement, examine
attitudes towards pregnancy and contraception, explore peer and family influences on sexual decision
making, and identifying the youth s preferred sources of information and advice on sexual matters
(Aarons Jenkins, 2010). The findings revealed that sexual intercourse among adolescents is influenced
by various biological and psychosocial factors, such as physical and hormonal changes during puberty,
lack of parental supervision or guidance, peer pressure, misinformation about contraception, alcohol
and tobacco use, and low school performance (Aarons Jenkins, 2002). Youth in the study group
reported preference of clinics over schools for sex related education and services. The study concluded
that intervention is imperative in order to delay and prevent pregnancy.
Statistic have shown that children from teen parent experience a greater risk of growing up in poverty,
living in a single parent family, having poor performance in school, and more vulnerable to substance
abuse (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2017). Similarly, teen pregnancy can also affect
the mother on every aspect of her life, such as psychological, emotional, physical, and financial. The
pregnancy can be an overwhelmed process for many and this will lead to feelings of intense emotions,
such as excitement, fear, confusion, frustration, and resentment.

Woman Work By Maya Angelou Analysis
At a young age, Maya Angelou realized the worth of words when an incident caused her to stop
speaking at the age of seven. She was sexually assaulted by her mother s boyfriend and when she
confided in her uncles about the rape, they murdered him out of rage. She believed that words were
powerful and during the time that she did not speak, she began to grow a liking towards books and
poetry. Prior to her writing career, Maya Angelou worked various professions such as being a waitress,
cook, and a madam who managed prostitutes ( Angelou ). Later, she went on to becoming a singer and
a dancer and appeared at the nightclub, the Purple Onion. There her pen name Maya Angelou was
born. Her writing career began when she published her autobiographical novel, I Know Why the
Caged Bird Sings and from the success of the book, she continued to publish her poems. Maya
Angelou s personal story influences her works, In her writings, Angelou has often aimed to speak for
all African Americans by concentrating on her own experiences and feelings ( Angelou ). Maya
Angelou s works connect to her ancestors and the racial discrimination she herself went through. The
themes of slavery and connection to nature are manifested in her poem, Woman Work. The narrator
reveals that she is a slave as she lists the chores she is expected to accomplish and one of them was to
toil on the farm, The cane to be cut/...And the cotton to pick (Angelou, Woman 153). Slaves in the

I have a lot of proud mommy moments, but one of the most recent moments is when my oldest
daughter, Brianna joined the Army. When Brianna graduated high school, she really didn t know what
to do with her life. She has always been very interested in working on vehicles, but she has also been
interested in coaching basketball and becoming an Athletic Director. She thought that being a
mechanic would just be a hobby and would just go to college, since that is what all of her friends were
doing. That fall she started college at CSC and was doing very good. She knew something was

Pros And Cons Of Resilience
5. Literature Review
Introduction
Resilience is a broad construct which spans across a broad and diverse range of disciplines. In
engineering resilience of a system refers to a set of behaviours and strategies allowing for the creation
of proactive defences against disturbance and interruption that threatens the systems integrity (Palazzi
et al.,2014). Business on the other hand refer to resilience as an organisation s capacity to anticipate
and react to change, not only to survive, but also to evolve (Newnham and Crash, 2015). In sport

They assert that exposure to chronic stress and adversity and a lack of resources to mitigate the risk
could lead to maladjustment. Maholmes, with reference to Garmezy and Rutter (1983) refer to risk
factors as negative occurrences or adverse phenomena in the environment or within the child, that
place the child at risk of having poor outcomes (Maholmes,2014:27). The ecological systems theories
of Bronfenbrenner (1989) and Garmezy triad (1991) corroborates with this assertion ; as it opines that
this factors are present at the individual, family and community levels. Risk for individuals which may
result in negative outcomes may include, chronic illness temperament or mental disorders. At a family
level it may represent harsh parenting styles , job loss, depression, food insecurity, proverty and
economic disadvantage. Community risk may manifest in poor neighbourhood quality and cohesion,
or lack of resources (Maholmes,2014:24 ; Southwick and Charney,2012:20). It is imperative to note
though that risk is cumulative in nature. The presence of one increases the likelihood that more will

Working With Supervisors
When it comes to working within a system and dealing with supervisors in their leadership roles, I
always found them to be a little difficult at times to bear with. I have supervisor named Liv with
whom work with. I first found out about her working style through other employees who have worked
with her in different departments. Liv was an extreme micromanager as well as a person who would
demand some of the employees to stay past their work hours for work that was her own responsibility.
Interpersonal conflicts quickly arose at work with everyone feeling that this working for her is not
exactly a treat. What I found interesting while researching and observing my supervisor s way of
managing and working was that she was always under stress from upper management.
We did not see this side of the business that she was always under and after that I started developing
respect for her little by little. If someone were to ask me what I would possibly think of her, then my
thoughts would be that given the current stress load from upper management, I myself would behave
possibly the same way. I agree with the judgements that she gave us which in turn helped us out in the
long run in the office. My overall feeling is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It appears that after roughly 18 months of madness, which included false reports, outside

Last Wednesday, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York declined to reconsider its April

down by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in May 2015. Consequently, the New England Patriots

On defense, the Patriots have one of the best linebacking corps in the league. Headlined by run stuffer
Dont a Hightower and swiss army knife Jamie Collins, New England s group of linebackers is elite.
Adding Terrance Knighton to former first round pick Malcom Brown makes a scary interior defensive

whole, New England s defense should rank in the top 10 next season.

could be the healthiest he has been in a while heading into the postseason. That is a scary thought for

was highly admired by Americans because of his speeches and his extremely social lifestyle.
According to the Roper Center Public Opinion Archives at the University of Connecticut, Bill Clinton

Questioning Reality in Richard Bach s Illusions
The message of Richard Bach s Illusions is based on the concept that the things we interpret in the

and he has gifts that he uses to help mankind. A quote that Richard reads is Here is a test to find

people about life, and for performing miracles. People flocked to him, seeking his wisdom and advice.
However, after a while he saw that they no longer came to him to better their knowledge of life and
the world; they simply wanted to see the miracles that he could perform. Don became frustrated
because the people did not care about the good things that he had to offer them. After seeking God s
advice, Don quit his job as a messiah. He disappeared and began doing things that he enjoyed, like
barnstorming.
Don begins to teach Richard about life. In a sense, he was passing on his gift as a messiah to Richard.
He introduces to Richard the small bits of wisdom in his handbook that he used when he had a
question about life. The handbook answers questions that Richard had about his own life, and he
begins to learn the things that makes Don a messiah: the wisdom that helped him to give advice to
people in need.

The Maltese Front And The Novel Of The Maltese Falcon
The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some stark differences along
with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John Huston who directed the film of the Maltese
Falcon shows Sam Spade a little differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share
some commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the final scene of
the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold hearted detective. Yet, the novel
displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man that needs answers now. The film differs from the
novel as we see Spade portrayed in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as
a more dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade briskly
moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the move. The novel shows Sam
after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their
palms were wet. He filled his deep chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p.
574). As to the film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to get
as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at 1:28:52. As we see in
the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous for what is about to happen and for how
aggressive he will be in order to get all of the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston
doesn t show any of that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as
possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the novel Spade. Next,
we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you, talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a
dominate and demanding individual. The significance of him grabbing executes this notion of
dominance and the meaning of how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn
t as forceful to get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering
Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that Spade already knew
the answer for. Having Spade in the

Of ThucydidesBiases And Their Consistencies In Greek History
Biases and Their Consistencies in Greek History Humans have made notable accomplishes for many
centuries. Only recently in human history have these events been recorded by other humans. As a
species we naturally have bias, be that toward our culture or an ideology. Thucydides and Herodotus
both had distinct source types as well as biases, but conform to them in different ways reflective of
their different writing styles. First we will examine the sources that Thucydides used and why he uses
speeches. Thucydides was the main source of the information as he lived and held command as a
general during the Peloponnesian War up until his exile to Peloponnesian territory (Thucydides p.
102). His position as a general makes Thucydides an excellent eye witness to many of these instances.
Thucydides spending time with the Peloponnesians gained him insight into those people and how they
would have operated. Thucydides uses himself as his main source as he held a high position in society
and would have access to the events of the war. Thucydides also used other s speeches as resources to
show insight into the events occurring. He used the Melian dialogue to show the wit of the Athenians
and illustrate their impulsive desire to conquer independent cities (Thucydides p. 102 108). This
passage illustrates the beginning of the end for the Athenians. The Melians were a colony of the
Lacedaemonians and did not take a side in the ongoing war, but Athens eventually probed them to war
(Thucydides 102). This foreshadows the battle at Syracuse in which Athens went blindly into out of
desire to simply slight the Spartans. Thucydides uses speeches to show insight to the people s thoughts
and to add foreshadowing to future events. Herodotus used the account of people and their own
traditions as his references in his works. During the beginnings of the war between the Persians and
the Greeks Herodotus speaks of the Persian invasion of the Delians. During the Persians departure
Herodotus uses the Delians as the reference for the events that unfolded next (Herodotus p. 108).
Aside from the mentions of how the stories are sourced from the people Herodotus does not mention
where else his sources came from. Herodotus relied heavily on

Sexism Definition Essay
When was the last time you really thought about gender equality or sexism, and how it could be
affecting you? Sexism has been around for who knows how long, but it seems that just recently people
have started to do something about it. There are major movements and websites like now.org and
National Women s Day. It is has only been 95 years since women have been able to vote in the United
States, which was made possible by the 19th amendment. Yes, we have had big success so far, but that
doesn t mean the fight is over yet. Sexism is a serious issue that should no longer be around, simply
because it hurts too many women all over the world. First of all, looking up the definition of sexism
will get you many different definitions. The world s most used search engine defines it as prejudice,
stereotyping, or discriminating, typically against women, on the basis of sex [gender] (Google). A
different source defines the term gender equality as ...the view that men and women should receive the
equal treatment and should not be discriminated against based on gender, (Billing). Equality, to most,
means we want to be treated with equal respect, but not the same as the next person (Billing). Women,

The Meaning Of The Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
In the beginning of the story, the mood is dark, mysterious, and gloomy. Poe creates this mood
through diction by describing the deterioration and atmosphere of the house. The landscape is
described with words and phrases such as dull , dark , sickening of the heart , and insufferable gloom
(1) that depict the surroundings to be eerie and depressing. The ancient family displays themselves in

Loss Of The Ageing Adult Population
Losses and Grief in the Ageing Adult Population
Loss is defined as the experience of having something taken from you or destroyed (Loss, 2016). In
the senior population losses become more common and frequent due to dwindling health
circumstances, among other circumstances. Functional losses experienced by the elderly include
physical performance, balance, mobility, and muscle strength (Nakano, Otonari, Takara, Carmo
Tanaka, 2014, p. 583). Situational or circumstantial losses may be the loss of a partner or the loss of a
home due to being transferred into a retirement home or health care facility. Losses are enhanced by
any diseases a person may have making it more difficult to deal with these losses. Taking a look at
diabetes; diabetes plays a key role in many individuals in the older adult population lives, more than
25% of adults over the age of 65 in America have been diagnosed with diabetes (Kirkman, 2012, p.
2650). This disease alters the rate of which losses are experienced and in turn how the elderly grief
over the loss. Diabetic patients are more likely to experience depression and diabetic patients are more
likely to undergo amputation from limb loss (Spiess, McLemore, Zinyemba, Ortiz Meyr, 2014, p.
1068). Being diagnosed with diabetes impacts every aspect of one s life and creates difficulties in

Versailles Peace Treaty Causes
What causes war? An escalation of a disagreement or argument perhaps? A failure of economy
maybe? A desperate society willing to support tyranny for the sake of their country? Questions such as
these form in many minds wondering after finally ending the first world war ever known to man how
it became possible that not long after we would endure yet another. The Versailles Peace Treaty did
but the opposite of extending peace but provoked hostility. Out of the 440 clauses in the treaty, 414 of
these clauses were solely focused on payback and punishment towards Germany. Germany had no say
in the matter and were forced to sign and accept the terms of this Peace Treaty . This angered many
Germans for their land was taken, they were pushed into

Essay On Architecture Is A Lot More Than Blueprints
Architecture: A lot more than Blueprints
In early prehistoric times, the discovery of caves proved to provide great protection against severe
weather for early man, although offered less protection against wild animals, making this type of
shelter somewhat unlivable. As a result, to provide better protection against nature and wildlife, man
discovered that the use of natural materials such as stones, bones, and tree branches offered a more
reliable domicile. Due to the nonconformity of living conditions, man learned how to use different
tools to build better structures; looking for better stability, security, and conformity. As time
progressed, the ability to create, design and construct shelters, houses, and buildings has been defined

Unfortunately, for older established architects learning new designs programs could be challenging
and as a result their business could lack the edge to prosper entirely. Another option is to hire a
designer, however hiring more employees becomes another expense in addition to the expense of
brand new programs that an established architect might not have initially accounted for. With so many
advances in technology and now the concern for more sustainable building construction, established
architects may have a difficult time adjusting to technological advances. Although learning new
programs isn t a necessity, it proves to provide an edge for futuristic architects. Moreover, while some
new aged advancements can be beneficial to the architectural world, some progressions like greener
buildings, although seemingly valuable, have been up for discussion, as well on whether or not the
right guidelines are being adhered by.
The architectural industry is facing another major challenge in the field of sustainability. Sustainable
architecture must adhere to the US Green Building Council s LEED (Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design). This movement, also referred to as green building, focuses on utilizing
sustainable resources to increase an overall better wellness of its inhabitants, while reducing harmful
effects on the environment. In addition, the focus of green building has expanded to help prevent
pollution, control waste, and conserve

Olympe De Gouges
Olympe de Gouges
Marie Gouze was born in Montauban, France, in 1748. In this butcher s daughter s lifetime, she would
grow from a social maverick, to political renovator, to a martyr. She of was the first to emphasize
feminism and the injustice of slavery, mostly through her writing. (Woolfrey) She is an often forgotten
figure of the French Revolution.
After the death of her husband, Marie Gouze took on a new identity in an effort to avoid judgement.
She took her son to Paris with her where she would continue developing her education and diplomatic
knowledge for the next ten years. Once she began to write, she was often condemned for her flawed
French and being a female writer. In this period of time, women were often referred to as objects, and
according to society, their only purpose was to reproduce and serve men. de Gouges made it her
mission to challenge, find fault in, and untie the laces of injustice that her generation had wound
together. However, the leaders during Olympe de Gouges s time had no sympathy for women. (Cook)
As a playwright, de Gouges used her writing to address social issues around her. Along with slavery
and women s rights, she was also outspoken on subjects like marriage, divorce, freedom of speech.
Her most famous writing, and arguably (along with her favor toward the monarchy) what sent her to
the guillotine, was the Declaration of the Rights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Origins And End Of Giftedness Summary
Ellen Winner also authored a very relevant article in 2000, titled The origins and ends of giftedness.
This article is essentially a supplemental piece to her book, cited above. This article was written four
years after it, and her perspective on the origin of giftedness in children has begun to lean a bit more
toward the growing psychological opinion that giftedness most often arrives from goal directed hard
work, otherwise referred to as deliberate practices. Winner also continues with a cautionary focus on
parents who are over eager and often overbearing when pushing their young children to learn, and in
turn negatively affect them emotionally and behaviorally. In the article she notes, though, that parents
of high performing children tend

Critique Ulrich Herbert s Good Times Bad Times Essay
The following is a critique of the article Good Times, Bad Times: Memories of The Third Reich by
Ulrich Herbert. In this critique, I will explore the themes of the article, discuss the main arguments,
and address the significance of the author s insight to the world of Nazi Germany. Ulrich Herbert s
Good Times, Bad Times is about the contrast between the ways typical working Germans perceived
the years before and during Hitler s appointment as Chancellor, his rise to dictator, and during and
after and World War II. The article cites a survey conducted by the Institut für Demoskopie (Public
Opinion Institute) in 1949, as well as an oral history project conducted at the universities of Essen and
Hagen between 1930 1960. Both studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
99) Along with other narrators, Bromberg has little to report about the next phase [1932 through the
beginning of World War II] until they are directly affected by the war through military conscription or
Allied bombing raids on their home town (Bessel, p. 101). Herbert s recurring theme is that Quiet ,
normal times, then, clearly leave behind few experiences that are imprinted on the memory and
recalled in the narratives; disturbed , bad times are filled with unique and extraordinary experiences,
and come up at corresponding length in the life stories (Bessel, p. 101). Herbert s argument is that the
to the working German population, the war years were seen mostly as a temporary disturbance
separating the stable, normal years of the 1930s and 1950s. Although in retrospect the National
Socialist State s provision of a quiet and secure life is evaluated very positively in principle, the
experiences during the war gave the lie to the pretenses of Nazism: the self propelling dynamics of
Nazi politics, which during the previous years always had been left outside , now destroyed that
private domain that had only been built up. The long wartime and post war phase is portrayed...as a
time of suffering in that the normality attained

Washington Irving and Romanticism Essays
The short stories of Washington Irving are examples of the literary movement of Romanticism and its
characteristics which are evidenced in this author s works. These characteristics are sometimes found
in abundant quantities or limited amounts in each of his short stories. However, no matter what short
story Washington Irving wrote, the Age of Romanticism and its defining characteristics are found in
each of his selections. So, too, do each of the author s short stories present a unique study about the
author s intentions for creating his work. In Washington Irving s selection The Three Kings of
Bermuda , the author portrays tone in a way that he changes it often throughout his writing to help the
reader understand the emotion and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romanticism as a conviction that intuition, imagination, and emotion are inferior to reason is often
thought as the best known characteristic. It was used to show the human abilities and the source for
the subjects. This helps us to understand the world around us and also how we take part in it.
Emotions were thought to be one of the main factors in place of logic and reason. People looked to
making music often to express feelings that were being felt. Washington s tone helps to convey the
emotion in this story. Washington changes the tone throughout the story to help the reader better
understand the emotion of this short story. He is a true enchanter, Irving states, whose spell operates
not only upon the sense, but upon the imagination and the heart. When they are stranded he uses tone
showing that they were happy and felt a sort of power that they were the kings of this island. Then he
changes it to anger and a fight for the ambergris when they discovered it. When the ambergris is taken
away from them by the new landowners, he shows the emotion of disappointment. The quote, All
kingdoms, however, are doomed to revolution, conclusion, or decay; and so it fared with the empire of
the three kings of Bermuda. is a powerful quote showing the emotion in Irving s tone. Romanticism as
a conviction that poetry is superior to science is a common characteristic because of the growing
popularity of poetry at the time. Many times the meaning

  • 2. Historical Background Of The Golden Summer Of 1991 (III) The Golden Summer of 1991 A] Historical Background: India followed Import Substitution Industrialization policy up to 1991. The major highlights of this policy included significant restrictions on imports (ensured by high tariffs and import control), limited incentives to private sector, a large public sector (with focus on heavy industries) and an overvalued exchange rate. Furthermore, there were restrictions on consumer goods too. Quantitative restrictions such as import licensing and exchange control existed too. All of these policy measures were part and parcel of what is known as barriers to an economy. The quantitative restrictions prevented the opening up of the Indian economy. Thus, integration of India with the global village was to wait till 1991. The period from 1976 to 1991 is known as ad hoc liberalization. Politically speaking, in 1978 Janata Party formed the Government. The Janata Pary Government had thought of modifying India s economic policy in order to attract foreign investment and to encourage participation of private sector. However, ad hoc liberalization began during Rajiv Gandhi s tenure as the P.M. in 1980s. The Rajiv Gandhi Government introduced partial economic reforms to relax restrictions on industrial license and on import export prices. This article explains how witchcraft exists and plays an essential part in structural and functional aspects of a society. It also sheds the light on the journey of witchcraft from being profane and wicked to acceptable part of a culture. INTRODUCTION It is said that man, to survive, has always needed something or some belief to hold on; be it science, religion or magic. Man without a belief lacks hope (Walker, 1997). Lack of hope makes a man vulnerable to unforeseen circumstances. To avoid this vulnerability man has been holding onto different belief systems. Grotesque In The Carnival Classroom The grotesque can also symbolize social issues that affect students lives and schoolwork poverty, socioeconomic power relations and class differences, abuse, substance abuse, depression, identity, and sexuality. Though I did not understand much of the book, I was able to take a couple of his ideas and really think about how I see photos. In the future, I intend to use these ideas when I look at photos. One of his ideas that I was able to understand is the way he looks at pictures. The other one is his second definition of punctum. The first of the two ideas that interested me the most was the way Barthes looked at photos. He did not say that he liked a photo because it had his favorite animal or color. He looked deeper into the photo. He looked to see what had caught his eye the most about a photo he enjoyed. He called the catching of his eye the punctum. Barthes described the punctum as, ... is that accident which pricks me... (Barthes 27). This prick didn t always hit him with every photo. Throughout the book, he described certain photos that I thought were interesting, but he did not enjoy them. An example of a photo that he didn t enjoy was the photo of the two nuns and three helmeted soldiers, which was photographed by Koen Wessing in 1979. The main reason that it didn t appeal to him was that it didn t have much of a, duality (Barthes 23) to it. Then there were photos that had caught his eye. An example of an image he enjoyed and had his prick was a photo of an African American family; photographed by James Van Der Zee in 1926. The family is not what the punctum was. The ... • 30. The Maltese Front And The Novel Of The Maltese Falcon The film of the Maltese Falcon and the novel of the Maltese Falcon share some stark differences along with certain similarities that the film and novel hold. John Huston who directed the film of the Maltese Falcon shows Sam Spade a little differently as to how Dashiell Hammett portrays him. Both do share some commonalities between them, yet we see a greater split from novel to film in the final scene of the Maltese Falcon. The film portrays Spade as this stoic, cold hearted detective. Yet, the novel displays Spade as a more dominate grabbing man that needs answers now. The film differs from the novel as we see Spade portrayed in the film as a cold and stoic character as we see him in the novel as a more dominate and persistent character. As we progress through the final scene Sam Spade briskly moves on to alert the authorities about having Cairo and Gutman on the move. The novel shows Sam after putting the receiver down to appear nervous he wet his lips and looked down at his hands. Their palms were wet. He filled his deep chest with air. His eyes we glittering between straightened lids (p. 574). As to the film when we see Spade hang up the phone he briskly approaches Brigid trying to get as much information out of her as he can before the police arrive in the film at 1:28:52. As we see in the novel Hammett wanted to show Spade as being nervous for what is about to happen and for how aggressive he will be in order to get all of the information needed prior to the police arriving. Huston doesn t show any of that, but goes straight into getting all of the information out of Brigid as soon as possible. Leaving a major lack in character for the film Spade as compared to the novel Spade. Next, we follow to see Spade grabs Brigid and says G d damn you, talk! (p. 575) which shows Spade as a dominate and demanding individual. The significance of him grabbing executes this notion of dominance and the meaning of how important this is to Spade. In the film Spade at that moment wasn t as forceful to get this information out of Brigid. Around 1:29:26 Spade was standing badgering Brigid with question after question, in addition to asking rhetorical questions that Spade already knew the answer for. Having Spade in the ... • 32. Of ThucydidesBiases And Their Consistencies In Greek History Biases and Their Consistencies in Greek History Humans have made notable accomplishes for many centuries. Only recently in human history have these events been recorded by other humans. As a species we naturally have bias, be that toward our culture or an ideology. Thucydides and Herodotus both had distinct source types as well as biases, but conform to them in different ways reflective of their different writing styles. First we will examine the sources that Thucydides used and why he uses speeches. Thucydides was the main source of the information as he lived and held command as a general during the Peloponnesian War up until his exile to Peloponnesian territory (Thucydides p. 102). His position as a general makes Thucydides an excellent eye witness to many of these instances. Thucydides spending time with the Peloponnesians gained him insight into those people and how they would have operated. Thucydides uses himself as his main source as he held a high position in society and would have access to the events of the war. Thucydides also used other s speeches as resources to show insight into the events occurring. He used the Melian dialogue to show the wit of the Athenians and illustrate their impulsive desire to conquer independent cities (Thucydides p. 102 108). This passage illustrates the beginning of the end for the Athenians. The Melians were a colony of the Lacedaemonians and did not take a side in the ongoing war, but Athens eventually probed them to war (Thucydides 102). This foreshadows the battle at Syracuse in which Athens went blindly into out of desire to simply slight the Spartans. Thucydides uses speeches to show insight to the people s thoughts and to add foreshadowing to future events. Herodotus used the account of people and their own traditions as his references in his works. During the beginnings of the war between the Persians and the Greeks Herodotus speaks of the Persian invasion of the Delians. During the Persians departure Herodotus uses the Delians as the reference for the events that unfolded next (Herodotus p. 108). Aside from the mentions of how the stories are sourced from the people Herodotus does not mention where else his sources came from. Herodotus relied heavily on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
