This document provides instructions for inserting citations from EndNote into a Microsoft Word document and changing the output style of the references. The summary is: To insert citations from EndNote into a Word document, select the reference in EndNote and use the Insert Selected Citations option in EndNote or the EndNote toolbar. The references will be inserted using the output style of the EndNote library. To change the output style, use the Format Bibliography option in EndNote or the EndNote toolbar to select a different style such as Lancet.

2. 1. In EndNote, select the reference you want to insert into a
Word document.
2. Open a Word document and go to Tools – EndNote – Insert
Selected Citations or in the EndNote toolbar, click on the Insert
Selected Citations icon. Your references should be imported in
the output style that your EndNote library was set in.
You may use the EndNote toolbar to perform the same functions
as the EndNote menu that is available under the Tools menu.

3. 3. If you wish to change the style of your references, open your
MS Word document and simply go to Tools – EndNote X6 –
Format Bibliography (or you may utilize the EndNote Toolbar).
4. Press the Browse button to scroll through the list.

4. 5. Select an alternate output style such as Lancet. Press OK.
6. Your references are now in the new output style (Lancet).
The new output style has been changed to Lancet
