The purpose of this
lesson is that the
students are able to
understand the correct
use of preposition in a
sentence and are able
to construct sentences
using the right
preposition.
LEARNING OUTCOME
In this lesson students learn the definition of a preposition and
identify them in the given sentences.
STARTER / WARM UP
Game: “Picking the right word.”
STARTER / WARM UP
Game: Picking the right word.
Teacher gives the
words on slips of paper,
4 paper slips along with
a jar per group. Then
the teacher instructs
the students to identify
the right word from the
paper slips and put
them in the jar.
Development
Teacher introduces to the students the prepositions
and its relationship between noun or pronoun and
the other words in the sentence.
Prepositions are words that
we use before nouns or
pronouns to show their
relationship with other
words in a sentence.
Eg: I am sitting on a chair.
Eg: The cat is under the
table.
Prepositions: on, in, out,
over, below, before, after,
across, between.

The Preposition Story
The students listens to a preposition story and later spots
the prepositions that were in the story.
Activity Sheets
Look at the picture below and complete the sentences with
the correct preposition.
1) The lamp is _______ the
table. (in, on)
2) The TV is _______ the rug.
(near, under)
3) The umbrella is _______
the sofa. (on, besides)
4) The book is _______ the
sofa. (under, above)
