Initial Plans

Initial Reaction
• My initial reaction to the brief is that it could be enjoyable but provide some challenge.
• I do know a little bit about video games considering I have played a lot of them and have researched the
industry in the past.
• I am pretty capable with animating in Photoshop and creating pixel art creation.
• Creating my own sounds may be the most problematic aspect but with some practise I imagine it will
come out fine in the end.
• Any thing I do not know or understand I will research from different sources online.
Mind Map
Potential
Ideas
Action Game – A
side scrolling
action game where
the player controls
a dragon as it
fights other
mythical creatures
Space Game – A
top down Space
ship game where
the player can
customise their
ship, Battle threats
and explore the
Universe.
Puzzle game –
The player
travels through
time to fix
fragments and
restore the
timeline.
Mind Map
Final Idea:
Space Game
Story Outline
A singular ship is
separated from its fleet
and stuck in disarray due
to everyone becoming
an enemy. Stuck in
hostile territory – Players
must do whatever is
necessary to rectify it
and regain some form of
peace to the galaxy.
Gameplay
Top down view of the created
ship with the enemy on the
screen as well - combat works
with selecting where on the
enemy ship you will target
(Weak and vital points) and the
battle will take place in turns.
Out of combat the ship can be
controlled by moving from
system to system where
random encounters and
scripted events would take
place.
Art Style
Detailed pixel art to convey
as much detail as possible
in the abstract style
Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
They are all made from Pixel Art which is the style my game will also adopt.
They commonly portray Space as more vibrant than it actually is with a lack of
black space.
Blues and Purples (Colours that contrast well with the darkness of space)
Ships are brighter colours to again contrast with the background and make it
easier for the player to actually see them.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• Designs of the ships
• Style of Space
• Basic Layout of the HUD
