Tell us about your career.
Ingrid Jamoteau: After the first year of my Master’s degree in Real Estate Properties
Maintenance and Operation in 2014, I joined SPIE Île-de-France Nord-Ouest for a six-month
internship. I started as a junior Business Manager for multi-technique maintenance with a
permanent team. The following year, I did a six-month internship at SPIE Facilities in western
France, as a Business Manager assistant. Then in January 2018, I was transferred to a smaller
agency, in Normandy, northern France, as a Business Manager.
What are your daily responsibilities?
I. J.: l head up a number of maintenance contracts. I’m responsible for managing a team of
28 technicians and 8 supervisors, and I try to find technical solutions that ensure the reliability
of my customers’ facilities. I also take care of the agency’s financial management and provide
technical support for supervisors. Finally, I’m in charge of the business development of our
activity in Normandy, which I particularly enjoy.
Do you think there is a good gender mix?
I. J.: In our agency in northern France, we’ve just hired a female Business Manager, but we
don’t have any female technicians working in the field. As a member of the So’SPIE Ladies
network,I’mtryingatmyleveltochangeattitudesbytakingpartinacampaigntoraiseawareness
in high schools. I believe it’s very important to encourage gender diversity within the workplace,
and this awareness must be raised from school.
