The project sought to examine tacit assumptions around resource creation and sharing. Partners contributed approximately 60 credits of materials to repositories like JORUM and MERLOT. The project developed mapping and review tools to help facilitate understanding and reuse of resources by revealing tacit elements normally left unstated. Case studies examined partners' experiences with the process of opening up materials.

They determine advanced bibliometric indicators such as relative impact and crown indicators for research groups undergoing external reviews. The library plays a key role in managing the metadata, citation data, and bibliometric analyses to provide transparency and institutionalize bibliometric knowledge. This helps raise awareness of publication and citation practices to advise researchers and assess the institution's research.

The landscape of academic research has changed rapidly in the past decade, with access to high-performance networks, and the focus on data-intensive and interdisciplinary scholarship. Research libraries in North America are developing new services and programs aimed at meeting scholars’ needs for data-intensive, and interdisciplinary research support. Examples of some emerging programs include:
• Supporting digital research (graphical information systems, digital humanities, survey research methodologies, working with large datasets)
• Educating users about copyright and author rights
• Supporting content-creation and publishing activities in numerous ways: institutional repository to store and host works, establishing maker spaces, and developing infrastructure and workflows for more formal library-located publishing efforts
• Collaboration with research offices to educate researchers about federal mandates for open access publications and datasets
• Establishment of data management and archival resources
• Partnering with third-party vendors and with consortia to achieve scale-efficiencies and facilitate impact
• Development of researcher information management systems to support collaboration, discovery, and reporting
We present a case study of the development of a suite of new tools and services at the University of Illinois Library at Urbana-Champaign within its newly established Office of Research to support digital scholarship and to provide sustained and broad access to research. We will also discuss the significant challenges and opportunities of library/campus partnerships for cyberinfrastructure and research support.

Forte Framework - Lambda Days 2015
"Now art is the contrary of chaos." - this statement made by Igor Stravinsky in his "Poetics of Music" emphasizes the fundamental problem of music, which is organizing sound into a coherent logical whole.
This problem of opposing chaos has been up until till now only partially solved, hence many different music composition methods and styles.
We propose structure theory, which is a system for organizing sounds by means of a mathematical graph model, that can form the basis of any musical piece, independent of style.
The foundations of the model are two sets of rules for modeling: the perception of time and the perception of sound in the horizontal and vertical contexts.
To provide a tool for composers and music theoreticians to experiment with structure theory, we further propose the Forte Framework for Music Composition.
The framework consists of two embedded domain-specific languages: the Forte DSL and the Graph DSL.
The domain of the former is the music analysis theory of Allen Forte which we describe, systematize and enhance with several generalizations.
Besides proposing a DSL for this domain we contribute by showing how to use the knowledge of the domain itself, indexed type families and phantom types to achieve: (1) implementation swapping, (2) self-optimizing library code and (3) boilerplate code reduction.
We provide the aforementioned features in a purely functional setting and without building an abstract syntax tree (we use a shallow embedding).
Our second proposal, the Graph DSL, is an implementation of our structure theoretic graph model.
To materialize our ideas for music organizing we describe an algebra for directed acyclic graph manipulation and show how structure theory can be translated onto this algebra.
The Graph DSL itself is general enough to be used for creating and transforming graphs from other domains, but we focus on presenting our DSL in the context of the Forte Framework, with the Forte DSL being the drop-in language for node specification.
We also show an extended example of music analysis that demonstrates one of the two possible applications of our framework, with the other major use being music composition. We chose Haskell to implementent both the Forte DSL and Graph DSL of the Forte Framework.

"Now art is the contrary of chaos." - this statement made by Igor Stravinsky in his "Poetics of Music" emphasizes the fundamental problem of music, which is organizing sound into a coherent logical whole.
This problem of opposing chaos has been up until till now only partially solved, hence many different music composition methods and styles.
We propose structure theory, which is a system for organizing sounds by means of a mathematical graph model, that can form the basis of any musical piece, independent of style.
The foundations of the model are two sets of rules for modeling: the perception of time and the perception of sound in the horizontal and vertical contexts.
To provide a tool for composers and music theoreticians to experiment with structure theory, we further propose the Forte Framework for Music Composition.
The framework consists of two embedded domain-specific languages: the Forte DSL and the Graph DSL.
The domain of the former is the music analysis theory of Allen Forte which we describe, systematize and enhance with several generalizations.
Besides proposing a DSL for this domain we contribute by showing how to use the knowledge of the domain itself, indexed type families and phantom types to achieve: (1) implementation swapping, (2) self-optimizing library code and (3) boilerplate code reduction.
We provide the aforementioned features in a purely functional setting and without building an abstract syntax tree (we use a shallow embedding).
Our second proposal, the Graph DSL, is an implementation of our structure theoretic graph model.
To materialize our ideas for music organizing we describe an algebra for directed acyclic graph manipulation and show how structure theory can be translated onto this algebra.
The Graph DSL itself is general enough to be used for creating and transforming graphs from other domains, but we focus on presenting our DSL in the context of the Forte Framework, with the Forte DSL being the drop-in language for node specification.
We also show an extended example of music analysis that demonstrates one of the two possible applications of our framework, with the other major use being music composition. We chose Haskell to implementent both the Forte DSL and Graph DSL of the Forte Framework.

Other instruments include dunduns, which are double-headed drums that can be played individually or together to create melodies. This session presented a case study of how the Magnes is using new, innovative technology to make their archive, library, and museum information compatible in one centralized collection management system. This project is designed to facilitate research, sharing, and collection management by making all material types searchable and linkable to one another, while using shared metadata sets (eg. some of the Magnes’ museum fields are able to be exported to EAD and MARC; some MARC-enabled fields are also exportable into EAD. Many fields are also ISAD-compliant and the Magnes also used CDWA for some data-entry standards and Getty’s ULAN for the creators and artists).

Working Together evolving library value: initial findings

Binghamton University's library developed a process to allocate its collection resources budget in a way that addresses the evolving needs of the university. It adopted a methodology used by Simon Fraser University that analyzes quantitative and qualitative factors to identify potential anomalies in departmental funding levels. The committee analyzed historical and current data factors for departments, identified outliers with relatively low funding levels, and made recommendations to maintain current funding while addressing inequities and supporting new programs. It recommended ongoing review of the allocations to maintain flexibility in responding to changing needs and opportunities.

1) A collaborative preservation learning programme was developed in the UK to address the identified preservation needs of research libraries and higher education libraries.
2) Focus groups and surveys with librarians, archivists, and conservators were conducted to determine the key staff development needs, which included practical training, strategic development, and developing an institutional culture of preservation.
3) The programme addressed these needs by providing disaster response training, preservation policy workshops, and training on prioritization, digitization, and damaged collections in various regions across the UK from 2009-2010.

The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).
