Infection Control
                    Course Description:
                    This is a theory course that aims to provide the delegate with the knowledge and skills required
                    to control and prevent the transmission of infection and contamination in a care environment
                    and designed for anyone who works within a healthcare setting.

                    This course is in line with the standards of Health & Social Care 2010. All personnel working
                    within a healthcare setting should have a sound knowledge of Infection Control. Preventing
                    and controlling infections is of significant importance in a health and social care environment.
                    Infection Control is clearly highlighted within the essential standards making this course an
                    absolute must for all levels of care staff.

                    Introduction to Infection Control
                    What is an infection (HCAI) / Reasons behind infection control / Barriers to infection / Ways in
                    which pathogens spread / At risk groups

                    Micro-Organisms and Disease
                    Bacteria / Meticillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA ) / Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff ) /
                    Escherichia Coli
                    (E-Coli) 0157 / Factors required for multiplication / Viruses / Norovirus / Hepatitis B (HBV)

                    Reducing the Risk of Infection
                    Personal hygiene / Hand hygiene (decontamination technique) / Standard Infection Control
                    Precautions (SICPs) / Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) / Individual Factors
