You have great reflection. I could not concur more with you on the importance of involving students directly and indirectly in the learning procedure and how it will facilitate teachers to assess the learner performance in their developmental phases. You noted that the teacher should focus on developing the learners’ capacity to perceive and appreciate things from different learning perspectives. I do agree with you, but how can we do that? I would like to know your opinion on this point.
Regarding to the memorization strategy of learning, memorization is one of the most difficult way for me to deal with. I could not memorize a lot and I can spend a night to memorize one passage. Till today, I could not find a way that makes me able to memorize more. It is really important that teachers and instructors understand that memorization for some students, like me, is very hard and sometimes impossible to memorize.

Meaningful learning occurs when learners are ready, and the materials are appropriate to the learners. If we don' t have any information about the learners, the materials we prepare for the learners might be useless. So I think knowing the readiness of the leaners is very important, and all the learners have different needs, that's why teaching learning strategies is very important. Even the leaners have exposed different learning and cognitive environment, they can choose a strategy we teach , which helps them experience meaningful learning.

Current online information environments and the associated social and pedagogical transactions within them create an important information ecosystem that can and should influence and shape the professional engagement and digital scholarship within our learning communities in the higher education sector. Thanks to advances in technology, the powerful tools at our disposal to help students understand and learn in unique ways are enabling new ways of producing, searching and sharing information and knowledge. By leveraging technology, we have the opportunity to open new doors to scholarly inquiry for ourselves and our students. While practical recommendations for a wide variety of ways of working with current online technologies are easily marketed and readily adopted, there is insufficient connection to digital scholarship practices in the creation of meaning and knowledge through more traditional approaches to the ‘portfolio’. In this context, a review of the portfolio integration into degree programs under review in the School of Information Studies led to an update of the portfolio approach in the professional experience subject to an extended and embedded e-portfolio integrated throughout the subject and program experience. This was done to support a strong connection between digital scholarship, community engagement, personal reflection and professional reflexive practices. In 2013 the School of Information Studies established CSU Thinkspace, a branded Wordpress solution from Campus Press, to better serve the multiple needs and learning strategies identified for the Master of Education programs. The aim was to use a product that replicates the authentic industry standard tools used in schools today, and to model the actual ways in which these same teachers can also work in digital environments with their own students or in their own professional interactions. I could not concur more with you on the importance of involving students directly and indirectly in the learning procedure and how it will facilitate teachers to assess the learner performance in their developmental phases. You noted that the teacher should focus on developing the learners’ capacity to perceive and appreciate things from different learning perspectives. I do agree with you, but how can we do that? I would like to know your opinion on this point.
Regarding to the memorization strategy of learning, memorization is one of the most difficult way for me to deal with. I could not memorize a lot and I can spend a night to memorize one passage. Till today, I could not find a way that makes me able to memorize more. It is really important that teachers and instructors understand that memorization for some students, like me, is very hard and sometimes impossible to memorize.

The capstone paper will serve as a valuable tool for your self-assessment of your competency level across the eight domains of the core competencies for Public Health Professionals. The Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals1 (i.e., Core Competencies) are a consensus set of foundational skills for the broad practice of public health, as defined by the 10 Essential Public Health Services. The Core Competencies are organized into eight skill areas or domains that cut across public health disciplines. The purpose of this assessment is to help you explore your level of competence within these eight domains. Please note that the signature assignment instructions include content directly from the competencies document.
By assessing your level of knowledge or skill for each competency statement described, you will be able to prioritize your learning time to focus on the most critical areas and concentrate where the need for training and learning may be greatest.
The competency assessment is divided into the following eight domains:
• Analytical/Assessment Skills
• Policy Development/Program Planning Skills
• Communication Skills
• Cultural Competency Skills
• Community Dimensions of Practice Skills
• Public Health Sciences Skills
• Financial Planning and Management Skills
• Leadership and Systems Thinking Skills
Tier 1 – Entry Level: Tier 1 competencies apply to public health professionals who carry out the day-to-day tasks of public health organizations and are not in management positions. Responsibilities of these professionals may include data collection and analysis, fieldwork, program planning, outreach, communications, customer service, and program support.
Instructions: Complete steps 1-3 for each domain.
1) Self-Perceived Proficiency: Read each competency statement listed within a domain. In each domain, and for each competency statement, think about the level at which you can perform the skill. Then rate your level of proficiency on each domain by selecting or highlighting the number on the domain from “None” (1) to “Proficient” (4) that best describes your self-reported level of expertise for that statement. Note: The competency statements listed in each domain should be interpreted as broadly as possible to apply to your position and principal employment setting. In the example below, you would select number “4” for “Proficient” if you think you are excelling at this domain or select “1” for “None” if you feel you need a great deal of improvement.

Current online information environments and the associated social and pedagogical transactions within them create an important information ecosystem that can and should influence and shape the professional engagement and digital scholarship within our learning communities in the higher education sector. Thanks to advances in technology, the powerful tools at our disposal to help students understand and learn in unique ways are enabling new ways of producing, searching and sharing information and knowledge. By leveraging technology, we have the opportunity to open new doors to scholarly inquiry for ourselves and our students. While practical recommendations for a wide variety of ways of working with current online technologies are easily marketed and readily adopted, there is insufficient connection to digital scholarship practices in the creation of meaning and knowledge through more traditional approaches to the ‘portfolio’. In this context, a review of the portfolio integration into degree programs under review in the School of Information Studies led to an update of the portfolio approach in the professional experience subject to an extended and embedded e-portfolio integrated throughout the subject and program experience. This was done to support a strong connection between digital scholarship, community engagement, personal reflection and professional reflexive practices. In 2013 the School of Information Studies established CSU Thinkspace, a branded Wordpress solution from Campus Press, to better serve the multiple needs and learning strategies identified for the Master of Education programs. The aim was to use a product that replicates the authentic industry standard tools used in schools today, and to model the actual ways in which these same teachers can also work in digital environments with their own students or in their own professional interactions. This paper will review how the ePortfolio now provides reflective knowledge construction, self-directed learning, and facilitate habits of lifelong learning within their professional capabilities.

Igniting a passion for reading and research is core business for school libraries, inevitably placing the library at the centre of the 21st century reading and learning experience. It is in this context that digital literature creates some challenging questions for teachers and librarians in schools, while the emergence of digital technology and/or device options also offers a great many opportunities. Collection development in school libraries encompasses an understanding of the need to contextualise these e-literature needs within the learning and teaching experiences in the school. The Australian Library and Information Association’s 2013 statement Future of collections 50:50 predicted that library print and ebook collections in libraries would establish a 50:50 equilibrium by 2020 and that this balance would be maintained for the foreseeable future. This statement from the Australian professional body raised the need to know more about e-collections in school libraries. For teacher librarians in Australian schools, the nature of online collections, and the integration of ebooks into the evolving reading culture is influenced by the range and diversity of texts, interfaces, devices, and experiences available to complement existing print and media collections or services. Management and budget constraints also influence e-collections. By undertaking a review of the literature, a discussion of the education context, and a critical analysis of the trends evidenced by national survey data, this paper presents an overview of the changes and emerging trends in digital literature and ebook collections in school library services in Australia today.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Assessment 2 Now it’s time review the next steps needed to help you develop and write Assessment 2. You have already done a lot of work towards preparing for this Assessment, because of the level of thinking you have undertaken in Assessment 1. Read Modules 5-8 as they provide you with critical information and points you MUST consider. Create a scaffold or thinking framework to guide your reading, research and preparation for the Assessment.
3. Key steps in the process Review the issues that have been presented by library users and staff of Haven River Library (HRL). Determine how they relate to HRL’s current programs and services. Determine the connection to demographic, economic and social issues. With this information determine what is important for HRL to respond to in the informational, educational and recreational needs of the user community.
4. Now you think you can start? This is where you begin your real research – here’s why! Assignment 1 has given you some practice in identifying and responding to programs and services to one group. Use the knowledge and skills you have used in that approach to broaden your understanding to all three groups in children’s and young adult services. BUT you will now have to refine and be succinct in how you present this – i.e. be able to include in your report the keyinformational, educational and recreational needs for all children & young adults. This knowledge will provide the foundation on which to build your report.
5. So what’s it about? Now read the task requirement and begin working on the key elements of your report. Your report must include: Your identification of the key needs and wants of the users in the community setting Your response to the issues raised by library users and staff in the context of the community. Your proposed framework/plan/strategy to revitalize HSL services and programs, including policies and management of services. Your suggested marketing strategies for implementing your proposed plan, and how you would prioritize them. How you will ‘sell’ your plan to main stakeholders in the council, and in the shire.
6. What else is important? Your report will take into account the changes and challenges that have been taking place in library services. You will specifically include the digital environment and technology-based culture of children and youth. Your Course Modules provide the fundamental information, and Sullivan provides more. Make good use of Sullivan. Then use quality resources (references) to enhance your work and ensure that your work up-to-date.
7. Can you be a realist? Haven River Library is not real. It doesn’t have a state or country. So you can use the information provided as the prime context. You don’t have to go out and ‘make up’ anything complex about this imaginary city and their community. The purpose of the report is to provide you with the opportunity to show your understanding of user-focused services and the considerations and issues that impact on managing these services. Be sure to include all the key considerations that are covered in Modules 5-8.
8. Make your report count!! Make sure you READ every part of the information set out in the Subject Guide in relation to this Assignment. Consider the Rationale and the Marking Criteria – they provide you with the essential parameters of the report. Make sure that you do not generalize or make statements based purely on anecdotal observations. The more you reference the better you can build a quality report for improved services for Haven River Library. Use the Forums to tease out ideas and improve your understanding.
