Automated Industrial Shopping Vehicle<br />ABSTRACT<br />General Classification of Project<br />Industrial Automation & Mechatronics<br />Industrial Problem<br /> In an assembly line, the technicians rely on human suppliers to supply them with the materials to be added to the partially built product (e.g. Nuts, bolts etc.). In a standard Industry, these components are stored in a place away from the assembly line to prevent environmental effect on the components and are delivered manually periodically. The problem arises when the technician is exhausted of his local supply. Even in case of managed supply chains, the manual delivery is time inefficient. <br />Solution<br /> The solution is a robot that can deliver the materials from the supply area to the technician automatically. This is faster and more efficient. The robot is directed using lines on the ground.  The robot can be accessed wirelessly.  I.e. a technician can directly order the robot to deliver the components rather than order it via a human operator (over phone, computer etc. who has to program the robot or ask a delivery person to make the delivery). To avoid collision with human workers, a proximity detector has been added which causes the robot to stop as long as there is an obstacle in its way, thus avoiding accidents.<br />System Process<br />Analogies used <br />A sensor for low parts count is replaced by a Button for ease of demonstration. This is done because the sensor used can vary according to the type of the part<br />Technical Details<br />Microcontroller Used: ATMEGA16 × 2<br />Sensors: Infrared (for path detection and Obstacle sensing)<br />Actuators: DC Motors<br />Communication System: Radio Frequency (LLP)<br />Frame Structure: Monocoque frame<br />Program Language: ANSI C<br />Ports of ATMEGA 16<br />On The shopper<br />Port A:  Sensor Array<br />Port B: Free<br />Port C: Motor<br />Port D: RX/TX Module<br />On the Control Unit<br />Port A:  Keyboard<br />Port B: Free<br />Port C: LCD Module<br />Port D: RX/TX Module<br />Expected Cost<br />Working Scaled Model (1Kg Payload): 4000 Rs (2500Rs Control system + 500Rs Motors + 500Rs Structure)<br />For payload of N Kg’s = 2500 + 500N + 500N = 2500+1000N<br />Advantages of the system<br />,[object Object]
Higher productivity
Can be implemented in FMS also. Any change in station layout can be adjusted by redrawing the line.
Possibility of a wrong part delivered by human is reduced.
