This document describes the bottom pull pipe laying method using a plough for installing submarine pipelines. It involves bundled pipes being simultaneously laid and trenched parallel to each other using a lay down head and plough pulled by a barge-mounted winch. The method is well-suited for conditions with wide onshore facilities, not too heavy pipes, soft clay or sand soils, and single or bundled pipelines, but not for hard soils or rock. Productivity targets for the 7km project were 1500m per day but only 750m was achieved on the first day.
